Rodong Sinmun Observes Youth Day

Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates an editorial to the Youth Day. The editorial says:
The Korean youth movement was started by President Kim Il Sung and it has made steady progress along the right path indicated by him. Leader Kim Jong Il has successfully carried forward the policy of attaching importance to the youth pursued by the President all his life and developed this movement in depth at a new higher stage. Under the leadership of Kim Jong Il the Korean youth movement has entered a new stage of development and the ideological and moral traits of the youths have reached the highest level something rare to be seen elsewhere. It is great pride of the Workers' Party of Korea, the country and the people to have millions of passionate youths capable of successfully carrying forward the tradition of Juche, the reliable young vanguard of the WPK well educated and trained under the care of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. All the young people should always remember the deep trust of the Party and the great expectation of the people and devote themselves with intense loyalty, patriotic dedication, youthful energies and wisdom to the drive to glorify socialist Korea built by the President and being led by Kim Jong Il as a great prosperous powerful nation of Juche, the best one in the world.
They should add luster to the glorious tradition of devotedly defending the revolutionary headquarters and uphold the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il with loyalty.
For the young Koreans devotedly defending the leader means most ardent patriotism and the greatest exploits and the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il means the first lifeline of the Korean youth movement.
They should trust and follow leader Kim Jong Il as their father and the sun of the revolution in any adversity and prepare themselves as human bullets and bombs who regard it as their unshakable faith and pure conscience to protect the leader at the cost of their lives.
All our young men and women should fully display their virile energies and courage and militancy on all fronts and at the posts of socialist construction to demonstrate their honor of being the vanguard and shock brigade. They should, at the same time, steadily cultivate and train themselves to have noble mental and moral traits as the younger generation for the Juche revolution and the young people in the Songun era.

Rodong Sinmun on Line of Economic Construction in Songun Era

Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Sunday dedicates an article to the second anniversary of the publication of leader Kim Jong Il's work on thoroughly implementing the line of economic construction in the Songun era. Kim Jong Il in the work set forth the economic line in the era of Songun which calls for giving priority to the development of the national defense industry while simultaneously developing light industry and agriculture and clarified the essential nature and importance of the line and tasks and ways for its implementation. The line of economic construction of the Workers' Party of Korea in the era of Songun is a revolutionary line of economic construction that makes it possible to vigorously step up the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation, the article notes, and goes on:
The line which calls for giving priority to the national defense industry while simultaneously developing light industry and agriculture to rapidly improve the standard of people's living is a unique line of economic construction as it make it possible to most successfully pursue the Songun policy and the independent and benevolent policy of the WPK. It is, at the same time, a Juche-oriented line of socialist economic construction as it makes it possible to protect the dignity and authority of the country and give full play to the advantages and might of socialism in all aspects under the banner of Songun.
The above-said line means a successful inheritance and development of the basic line of socialist economic construction laid down and consistently maintained by President Kim Il Sung. The line is a revolutionary one to protect the dignity of the country and the nation and defend socialism.
Kim Jong Il has wisely led the drive to bolster the military power of the country in every way and further develop the national defense industry with his energetic Songun revolutionary leadership for the last 45 years.
Thanks to the wise guidance provided by Kim Jong Il who set forth the unique line of economic construction in the Songun era and steered the work to implement it, the national defense industry in the DPRK has become powerful enough to produce modern offensive and defensive means and any military hardware and combat equipment of Korean type.
The line is the most popular one for providing the Korean people with a happy and bountiful life and a strategic line for building a rich and powerful country of Korean style by their own efforts, the article concludes.

Japan LDP's Anti-DPRK Remarks Flailed

Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- The present DPRK-Japan relations are inching close to an extreme phase due to the Japanese reactionaries' frantic hostile policy toward the DPRK. They will have to own full responsibility for the undesirable consequences to be entailed by the worst deterioration of the bilateral relations, warns Minju Joson Saturday in a signed commentary. The Japan Liberal Democratic Party claimed that there can never be any normalization of the relations between Japan and the DPRK without a solution to the "abduction issue," proposing the application of economic sanctions against the DPRK as one of its important political commitments to stay in power, the commentary says, and goes on: The DPRK can never overlook the Japanese reactionaries' move to use its anti-DPRK conspiratorial plot for their wicked farce aimed at staying in power. There is no reason for them to pull up the DPRK as regards the heated scramble for power kicked off by the rejection of the bills related to the postal privatization. The reactionaries' recent manifestation of their hostile stand on the DPRK clearly reflects the wicked mentality of those accustomed to meeting their own interests at the sacrifice of others.
The approach taken by the LDP politicians towards the general election clearly shows the real picture of the Japanese politicaldom full of pseudo politicians who seek power only, utterly indifferent to the progress of the people and the country, the commentary says, urging the Japanese reactionaries to face up to the gravity of the situation and refrain from their rash acts.

Seminar on Role of Political Parties in North and South of Korea in June 15 Era

Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- A seminar on the role of political parties in the north and the south of Korea in the June 15 era was held at the People's Palace of Culture Friday. Attending it were Chairman Kim Yong Dae and other officials of the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party and members of the delegation of the south Korean Democratic Workers' Party led by Chairperson Kim Hye Gyong. Kim Yong Dae and Kim Hye Gyong made opening addresses.
They said that it is of weighty importance to hold the seminar between the KSDP and the DWP this significant year marking the 60th anniversary of Korea's liberation and the 5th anniversary of the historic June 15 joint declaration, hoping that the seminar would have an in-depth discussion on the matters arising in the drive to support and implement the joint declaration and thus contribute to laying a common groundwork for strengthening national cooperation and solidarity.
Then followed speeches under the titles "National reunification is the first and foremost common task of the political parties in the north and the south," "Significance of solidarity, exchange and cooperation between the two parties in implementing the June 15 joint declaration," "Three forms of cooperation are an urgent requirement for the reunification of our nation" and "National cooperation and the role of politicians of political parties in the south and the north."
Speakers said that national reunification constitutes the most urgent patriotic cause before the Koreans for which the political parties in the north and the south should work at present when they are undergoing sufferings and misfortune resulting from the division caused by outside forces.
They underscored the need for the two parties to boost the ties in an effort to realize the three forms of cooperation in the idea of "By our nation itself." Expressing belief that the seminar will mark an important occasion in conducting more brisk solidarity and cooperation between the two parties for the cause of reunification and patriotism, they called on all the political parties and organizations in the north and the south to turn out as one in the drive to achieve cooperation among all Koreans for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country. Closing addresses were made at the seminar.

U.S. Urged to Roll Back Its Hostile Policy toward DPRK

Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- Some days ago, the U.S. chief executive appointed former presidential aide Lefkowitz as "envoy for the human rights issue of north Korea." Supporting this appointment, a spokesman for the White House said it would help somebody redouble his efforts to improve human rights situation and reinforce the U.S. efforts. In this regard Rodong Sinmun Saturday says in its signed commentary: The appointment proves that what the U.S. had said before its dialogue partner does not agree with what it has done later. This, at the same time, indicates that the U.S. policy to bring down the "system" in the DPRK has gone over to the phase of practice from the legislative phase.
Such U.S. behavior is a very disturbing act as it is little short of challenging the DPRK which has shown generous magnanimity and flexibility for a solution to the nuclear issue and an act of throwing a hurdle in the way of the six-party talks. The U.S. seems not to be interested in the dialogue and the settlement of the nuclear issue at all but more keen on standing in confrontation with the DPRK and bringing about a "regime change" and "bringing down the system" in the DPRK. If the U.S. persists in such behavior, it will compel the DPRK to change its mind. The U.S. should abolish at once such unreasonable post of "envoy" and abandon its ambition to "bring down system in the DPRK."

All Koreans Called upon to Remain True to Three Charters for Reunification

Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- The three charters for national reunification are the most just and realistic programme for national reunification laid down by President Kim Il Sung and formulated by leader Kim Jong Il. Rodong Sinmun Saturday says this in a signed article. Kim Il Sung set out the three principles of national reunification, the ten-point programme for the great unity of the whole nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo, while wisely leading the struggle for national reunification thus providing guidelines to be maintained to accomplish the reunification cause, the article says, and goes on:
Kim Jong Il formulated these as three charters for national reunification. These are undying feats they have performed for the cause of the country's reunification.
The three charters for national reunification serve as a banner of national reunification as they are based on the idea of national independence and reunification and noble patriotism.
The charters include the principle of independence and the principle of the great national unity for building a driving force for reunification and indicate tasks and ways for implementing them. Precisely for this reason the charters serve as guidelines which the Koreans should hold fast to and strictly follow in their struggle to defend the sovereignty and dignity of the nation and achieve independent reunification. The three charters provide the most just and reasonable ways for settling the issue of national reunification fairly at the earliest possible date in conformity with the desire of the nation for reunification and the reality of the divided country. The charters serve as the most just and realistic guidelines for reunification as they make it possible to successfully reunify the country with a clear-cut goal and orientation and with confidence and courage. They are a programme for reunification which all the fellow countrymen aspiring after reunification should uphold.
