Anti-Japanese Special Statement Published

Seoul, August 15 (KCNA Correspondent) -- The delegates of the north, the south and overseas to the August 15 Grand National Festival visited the Sodaemun Prison in Seoul Monday. They went round an exhibition of the prison which indicts the Japanese imperialists for their crimes in having arrested and imprisoned at random and ruthlessly killed anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters, activists for independence and many other patriots who were out in the just struggle for the liberation of Korea during the Japanese imperialist colonial rule.
At the end of their inspection the delegates made public an anti-Japanese special statement in front of the prison.
The statement said that they as well as all the people in East Asian countries are victims of oppression and plunder by the Japanese imperialist colonial rule and inhuman war crimes.
The defeat of Japanese imperialism was a natural result from the aggression and crimes, it said, condemning the Japanese government and some militarists for openly resorting to the anachronistic moves to distort the past history, far from drawing lessons from the past.
But as long as it beautifies the past history and refuses to repent of it, Japan will remain a war criminal state forever and its pursuance for hegemony under the pretext of "contribution to the international community" will be frustrated as the aggressive dream of the "Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere" was done, the statement noted, and stressed:
The Japanese government, stop distorting the history of the past and cooperate in the joint efforts to probe the historic truth.
The Japanese government and politicians, stop beautifying and worshipping the war crimes, thoroughly repent of the aggression and criminal acts in the past and apologize for them and make a just state reparation and compensation to the victims and those countries suffered from damage.
The Japanese government, stop the policy of increasing military capability which avails itself of the U.S. and withdraw the plan for deploying offensive military power including the missile defense system which is coiling up the tensions in Northeast Asia. The Japanese government and Diet, withdraw at once the attempt to revise "Article 9 of the Constitution", a safety device of peace in Northeast Asia and stop a series of military intervention including overseas dispatch of the "Self-Defense Forces". Japan, stop applying sanctions against the north and honestly come out in implementing the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration.
We will further strengthen reconciliation and cooperation between the north and the south and will never allow the militarists to use the division of Korea as a pretext of rearmament.
We will solidarize with the courageous action of the Japanese citizens taking the road of true justice and peace on the basis of honest reflection.

Pyongyang, August 16 (KCNA) -- An appeal to 70 million fellow countrymen was adopted at the August 15 national meeting for independence, peace and reunification on Monday. International Meeting Denounces U.S. Crimes in Korea

Pyongyang, August 16 (KCNA) -- An indignation statement was adopted at the international meeting denouncing the U.S. crimes committed in Korea held in Sinchon, South Hwanghae Province on Aug. 16. After their occupation of south Korea under the mask of "liberator" and "protector" the U.S. forces enforced the harsh military rule at the point of bayonet in contravention of the UN Charter and international law on postwar mediation and killed more than one million patriots and democratic figures and brought the dark clouds of war to hang over the Korean Peninsula, the statement said, and went on:
The Korean war provoked by the U.S. (1950-1953) was a hideous crime to be cursed for all ages as it was committed in defiance of international law and abusing the UN flag. Wherever the U.S. troops set their foot, innocent people were shot to death, burned, beheaded by saw, dismembered and buried alive. Nearly 600,000 tons of bombs and napham bombs and more than 600,000 rocket and biological and chemical bombs dropped by the U.S. troops reduced mountains, cities and thousands of villages of Korea to ruins, which put Hitler's atrocities into shade.
Monstrous crimes committed by the U.S. forces in south Korea after the war, lording it over, makes even animals blush with shame.
Judgment on the U.S. crimes passed at international tribunals in New York, Pyongyang, and Lima was just one reflecting world voice, the statement said, urging the U.S. to lend an ear to the judgment of the international tribunals and accept it unconditionally.
The statement noted that no statute of limitations can be applied to the U.S. crimes committed in Korea as they were war crimes against humanity.
Tribunals and various mass movements for finding out and condemning principal culprits will continue on a worldwide scale, the statement stressed.

The letter termed the massacre committed by the U.S. troops in the Korean war an organized crime aimed at obliterating the Korean nation and a crime against humankind.
Noting that the U.S. has still kept silent about the unprecedented massacre committed by its troops during the Korean war and ignored the demand of the international law to find out and punish the criminals, the letter went on:
We want the UN Commission on Human Rights, which considers it as its noble aim to protect and promote human rights and basic freedom, to pay due attention to the U.S. troops' killing of Koreans, the most heinous human rights abuse in the last century, and have the U.S. enact a law on investigating and dealing with the crime, set up appropriate bodies in Congress and administration and institute legal proceedings against the criminals.
We hope that you, according to your authority, will raise the U.S. troops' killing of Korean people as an important agenda at the UN Commission on Human Rights and take practical measures to make a relevant decision on the basis of thorough investigation and thus repay for the international community's expectations for genuine promotion of the protection of human rights, a fundamental issue concerning universal world peace and the prosperity of the humankind, the letter stated.
