New Method of Producing Ti Cast-Iron Ball Developed

Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- The Ministry of Metal Industry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has developed a new method of producing titanium cast-iron ball by direct alloyage. It has been known that the Ti-alloyed iron is made by the thermite reduction. This method is high in cost and low in productivity.
By the new method, it is possible to directly alloy Ti with the arc heat of electric furnace and the heat produced in the reaction between a by-product of aluminum production and the carbon, silicon and calcium contained in the burden materials. Ti cast-iron ball made by the new method contains more than 2.5 percent of C, 0.2-0.4 percent of Ti and less than 0.04 percent of phosphorus and sulfur. And its hardness is HRC55.
Its serviceable life is 2-2.5 times longer and its consumption is lower than other kinds. And it saves heavy oil, electricity and manpower and shortens production hours compared with rolled ball.
The Ti cast-iron ball has already been used in coal-pulverizing in thermal power plants and the concentrated ore production in mines.

Songbul Temple in DPRK

Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- Songbul Temple built in 898 is located in the fort on Mt. Jongbang in Sariwon city, North Hwanghae Province, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It consists of 6 buildings--Ungjin, Kukrak, Myongbu and Unha halls and Chongphung and Sansin pavilions with a five-storied pagoda in the centre.
The Ungjin hall is one of the oldest remaining wooden buildings in the country. It, belonging to the period of Koryo (918-1392), was rebuilt in 1327 Though nearly 700 years has passed since its reconstruction, its colorful painting remains unchanged. The Kukrak hall, which was built in 898 and rebuilt in 1376, was burnt out by the U.S. imperialist aggressors' bombing during the Fatherland Liberation War. The present one was constructed as it was in Juche 45 (1956).
The Ungjin and Kukrak halls are worthy of studying the medieval architecture as they reflect the variety of architecture of Koryo.
The Myongbu hall was built in 1711. Its interior beams painted during the Ri Dynasty still keep its original color.
There remain in Chongphung pavilion, the front gate of the Temple, a bell and wood carvings depicting fish which were used in Buddhist rite during the Ri Dynasty. The Unha hall and Sansin pavilion are buildings where monks lived and studied.
Lots of people visit the temple, enjoying their holidays in Mt. Jongbang which has turned into a pleasure ground under the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

Struggle against Imperialist Moves for Aggression and War Called for

Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- Aggression and war are what keep imperialism alive. It can neither exist nor meet its interests without aggression and war. Rodong Sinmun Wednesday says this in a signed article.
    It goes on:
Ever since imperialism raised its ugly head in the world, it has been engrossed in aggression and war. In the new century, too, the means for the existence of the imperialist forces remains unchanged.
Aggression and war are inevitably required by the politico-economic structure of modern imperialism.
Munitions monopolies dominate the economy in the imperialist countries and their rise or fall entirely hinges on those monopolies. The military spending in the imperialist countries is on the steady increase and the militarization of their economy is aggravating the crisis of imperialism. The overall economy remains in the doldrums, increasing the joblessness and weakening its competitive power. Imperialism seeks a way out of this daily worsening crisis in pursuing aggression and war.
A series of wars provoked by imperialism in different parts of the world after the end of the Cold War were chiefly aimed at settling this economic crisis by saving the munitions monopolies and helping them increase their profits. As a matter of fact such purposes have been achieved through the imperialists' aggression and war. The imperialists have taken pleasure in attaining their politico-economic goal and realizing their wild ambition for domination through aggression and war against other countries and nations. That is why the imperialists are desperately clinging to the policy of aggression and war and becoming more cunning and vicious in their methods. The reality requires all the countries and nations aspiring after independence and peace to properly see through the criminal true colors of the imperialist forces who regard aggression and war as means of their existence and main job and dynamically turn out in the struggle against their moves for aggression and war.

Removal of McArthur's Statue Urged

Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- The statue of McArthur at "Park of Freedom" in Inchon of south Korea should be destroyed, says Minju Joson today in a commentary. It is quite natural that the south Korean people have turned out in the campaign to remove the statue, the commentary notes, and goes on:
Their will for its removal is unshakable. As they have contended, in Korea there is no place for a disgusting statue of an aggressor but for statues of famous patriotic generals and personages.
It is a shame of the nation that the statue of McArthur, a chieftain of aggression, remains in south Korea until now, the era of reunification after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration. This shame can be cleared away only when the statue is blasted away and the U.S. troops driven out of south Korea.
The south Korean people will wage a more vigorous anti-U.S. struggle in an organized and massive way, despite the desperate efforts of the pro-American flunkeyist traitors, and remove the statue at any cost and drive the U.S. troops out of south Korea.
