Functions Held to Celebrate Day of Victory in War

Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- A presentation of wartime songs "Eternal Song of Victory of Songun" was made by war veterans from across the country in Pyongyang on July 25 to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War (July 27, 1953). It was appreciated by Kim Yong Nam, Kim Il Chol, Kim Jung Rin and other senior officials and working people.
In their repertoire including chorus "Song of General Kim Il Sung," men's chorus, mixed chorus, frontline recreation party, true story telling and singing to the accompaniment of drums the performers truthfully represented the spirit of devotedly defending the country and the spirit of revolutionary optimism in which the servicepersons of the Korean People's Army devoted their youth and life to the Party and the leader, the country and people during the war.
That day an oratorical meeting "July 27, the Day of Victory to Be Always Remembered" was held by youths and students in Pyongyang at the Central Youth Hall.
At the meeting students recited a commemorative poem "July 27, Day of Victory" to be followed by oratories "Iron-Willed Brilliant Commander," "Army and National Flag," "The Country Blessed by Songun" and "Our Life." The performers said in an excited tone that the Korean people could become a dignified and proud people who defeated two ferocious imperialisms thanks to the outstanding military idea and leadership of President Kim Il Sung who made the U.S. imperialists sink like the setting sun though they had boasted of being "the strongest" in the world.
Also put on the stage were men's chorus "Song of National Defence" by war veterans, chorus "General of Korea" by boy students and other numbers.
On the same day, a meeting of agricultural workers was held in front of the Jonsung Revolutionary Museum on the same occasion.

U.S. Plan to Set up Its Northeast Asia Air Force Combat Command under Fire

Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The 81st Friday meeting against the U.S. and war and for the withdrawal of its forces reportedly took place on July 22 near the U.S. embassy in Seoul under the sponsorship of the Solidarity Council against the U.S. and War and for the Withdrawal of the U.S. Forces in south Korea. Speakers at the meeting accused the U.S. forces in south Korea of contemplating creating their "Northeast Asia Air force Combat Command" in their air force base in Osan.
They bitterly denounced this move of the U.S. forces, holding that this can not be interpreted otherwise than an intention to start an actual nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula.
A resolution read out at the meeting charged that the above-said plan is aimed to use that place as the only overseas air force combat command in the Asia-Pacific region, turn the second army division into a "future-oriented division" and put all the combat forces under a "future-oriented combat system" whereby they are capable of operating as rapid task forces.
The U.S. should bear in mind that if it persists in its frantic war preparations, far from sincerely approaching the issues of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and discussing disarmament for its peace, the Korean nation will never pardon it, the resolution warned.

Japan's Impertinent Act Flailed

Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The United States rejected what Japan has proposed when examining the 4-nation "resolution" on the expansion of the U.N. Security Council at the recent plenary meeting of the U.N. General Assembly. Japan was the first country to introduce it there. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a signed commentary carried in this regard says that such impertinent behavior shunning its commitments will only invite disgrace, adding a political dwarf always deserves this cold shoulder.
The U.S., viewing Japan as a potential rival in executing its world strategy, is keen to keep it in its clutches, the commentary observes, and goes on:
Japan, resentful at the U.S. for hitting it hard in the past, intends to take revenge upon Washington one day. It is the U.S. notion that Japan can do it on a long-term basis if it sits on the UNSC. Various international organizations, NGOs, countries in Asia that suffered huge damage due to Japan in the past and broad strata of world people have heaped curses on it, infuriated and disillusioned with its behavior negating its history of aggression and evading the redemption of its past crimes. Finding it hard to swim against such trend of the world, the U.S. might dismiss the "resolution" which Japan took so much pain to present to the UN.
It is pitiful and ridiculous of Japan to dream of sitting on the UNSC without knowing how other countries view it. Japan would be well advised to think about a political dwarf-style inferior diplomacy and its sorry sight.

Rodong Sinmun on Three Principles of National Reunification

Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The three principles of national reunification--independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity--advanced by President Kim Il Sung are an immortal programme for the solution to the issue of Korea's reunification and a cornerstone of national reunification as they indicate the basic stand and way to settle the issue by the nation itself in keeping with its will and interests, says Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a signed article. The article further says:
To reunify the country independently is the intrinsic requirement for hewing out the destiny of the nation and the most fundamental principle for solving the reunification issue.
The issue of Korea's reunification is entirely an internal affair of the Korean nation and it is an issue related to the sovereignty of the nation. Accordingly, the reunification of the country should be certainly achieved by the Koreans, the master responsible for it, themselves in accordance with the independent will and requirement of the nation. This issue can never be settled with dependence on foreign forces.
National reunification should be achieved in a peaceful way, not by the use of armed forces.
It cannot be achieved in such way that one of both sides, the north and the south, forces its own will on the other, meeting its own interests only. The national reunification should be achieved in such way as to realize the reconciliation and unity of the whole nation and ensure unified development and prosperity of the country. If the north and the south fight each other, the Korean nation itself will suffer disasters and it will only help foreign forces fish in troubled waters. To reunify the country peacefully, not by armed forces, is the most reasonable way that conforms with the common interests of the nation.
Great national unity is a decisive guarantee for achieving the national reunification independently and peacefully.
The cause of national reunification is not for settling class contradiction among the nation or confrontation between the systems, but for relinking the blood vessel of the nation severed into the north and the south and achieving national reconciliation and unity to regain the appearance of the homogeneous Korean nation and establish the sovereignty of the nation throughout the whole country. If all the Koreans love the country, concern about the destiny of the nation and desire for national reunification before anything else, it will be possible for the nation to achieve its great unity under any circumstances though there are differences in ideology, ism, religious belief, political view, class and stratum.

Research Success of Kim Je Won Haeju University of Agriculture

Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Kim Je Won Haeju University of Agriculture in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has made achievements in scientific research. The university has invented a new manuring technology which ensures the growth of crops in the latter half with a less amount of fertilizer and makes them bear good yield. The technology has already proved fruitful on co-op farms in Pyoksong, Yonan and other counties of South Hwanghae Province.
The university has also developed a computer program on the application time of earing fertilizer.
In an interview with KCNA, President of the university So Sung Chol said that the research successes made by the university have been introduced into farms of South Hwanghae Province, a granary on the west coast of the country.
The university, he added, has brought up a lot of able agricultural scientists and technicians over the last 45 years since its foundation in December, Juche 49 (1960). It established a scientific manuring system for paddy fields which proved successful in Kim Je Won-ri, Jaeryong County, last year.

Japan's Unprecedented Inhuman Crime under Fire

Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson Tuesday in a signed commentary bitterly denounces in the name of the bereaved families of the slain Korean draftees and all other Koreans and justice and human conscience the Japanese reactionaries for the inhuman criminal action taken by them to pulverize and dispose of remains of Koreans kept at a columbarium in Nagoya. The Japanese reactionaries are talking about "limit to space" concerning this desecration of the remains of Korean draftees but it is a clumsy excuse to justify their criminal act, the commentary says.
Laying bare the base and despicable aim sought by the Japanese reactionaries in committing such unheard-of inhumane crime, the commentary goes on:
By pulverizing and disposing of the remains of Korean draftees the Japanese reactionaries sought to destroy historical evidence proving the monstrous inhumane crime committed by Japan in the middle of the 20th century and evade its responsibility to compensate for its past crimes. By doing so, they added only to their past crimes.
Much water has flown under the bridge and a lot of changes have taken place, but history and the present reality prove that there is no change in Japan's hostility and policy towards the Korean people.
The army and the people of the DPRK know very well how they should force Japan, the sworn enemy, to pay for its past crimes.
The Japanese reactionaries would be well advised to behave themselves, keenly aware that only a miserable end will await them if the Korean nation's burning hatred and resentment against Japan erupt like a volcano.
