U.S. Urged to Drop Its Hostile Policy toward DPRK

Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- The solution of the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. is still delayed due to the deadlock of the six-party talks. The latter is working hard to shift the blame for this on to the former by creating impression that it is not the U.S. but the DPRK that is accountable for this situation. In this regard Rodong Sinmun Friday says in a signed article: This is a wicked act of falsifying truth and profound confusing of right and wrong. The U.S. is chiefly to blame for the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S., the article observes, and goes on:
The U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK is a stumbling block lying in the way of settling the nuclear issue. If the U.S. truly wants to settle the issue, it should make a switchover from its hostile policy toward the DPRK to a policy of peaceful co-existence between them.
The U.S. has so far left no means untried to escalate its hostile moves toward the DPRK but it has got the former nowhere. It has only resulted in deteriorating the situation, fully revealing the U.S. shameless and aggressive nature.
It is the aspiration of the two peoples and the demand of the new century to put an end to the hostile relations between the DPRK and the U.S. and establish instead the relations of peaceful co-existence between them.
The U.S. has claimed that it has "no intention to invade" the DPRK. If it is true, there is no reason for the U.S. to refuse to make a switchover from its hostile policy toward the DPRK to a policy of peaceful co-existence.
It is high time the U.S. made a switchover from its anachronistic hostile policy toward the DPRK to a policy of peaceful co-existence in view of the present international environment and the trend of the development of international relations. The U.S. would be well advised to make a right option, judging the nature of the situation and the reality with a cool head.
The U.S. earliest possible political decision to make the above-said policy switchover would also do it good.

Japanese Reactionaries' Hindrance of Commemorations of Chongryon Anniversary

Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- The Japanese far-right reactionary forces have desperately worked to scuttle commemorations of the golden jubilee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) that have been under way in different parts of Japan since early May. The right-wing reactionary forces have set in motion all the media of the country for their malignant smear campaign against the DPRK.
Since early in May they have kept loudspeaker vans in the perimeter of the Chongryon Central Hall round-the-clock to hurl all sorts of vituperation at the DPRK and Chongryon.
On May 23 a plot-breeding organization was formed with former Director for the Tokyo Entry Management Office Hidenori Sakanaka as its representative.
In Niigata City there appeared a reactionary plot-breeding organization called the "Citizens' Society for Deliberating the Portcall of Ship 'Mangyongbong-92'".
On May 24 the Japanese reactionaries brought more than 10 loudspeaker vans belonging to the Japan Aikoku Party and the Bokyo Newspaper Office, right-wing gangsters' groups, to block off from early morning the roads leading to the Korean Cultural Hall in Tokyo, the venue of the meeting for commemorating the anniversary, and conduct earsplitting propaganda to disturb it.
That evening the reactionaries parked more than ten loudspeaker vans around Capital Tokyo Hotel in Tokyo where a reception was slated to take place for the occasion. They created a terror-ridden atmosphere threatening members of foreign missions and Japanese figures entering the hotel to attend the reception.
Gangsters belonging to the "Society for Defending Human Rights" thronged as far as the hotel entrance and distributed leaflets critical of the DPRK.
Earlier, they called a press conference in Tokyo where they issued a statement titled "We Protest Golden Jubilee of Chongryon."
From the morning of May 29, the date of the grand festival of Koreans in Japan to mark the anniversary, eleven right-wing organizations parked 15 loudspeaker vans around the Tokyo Korea Middle and High School, the venue of the festival, to let loose anti-DPRK and anti-Chongryon outbursts.
During the celebration period right-wing organizations and reactionary forces including the Dietmen's League, the Society of Abductees' Families and the Society for Rescue put ceaseless undisguised pressure upon the Ministry of National Land and Communication not to issue portcall certificate to "Mangyongbong-92".
From May 18 to June 4 right-wing gangsters kicked up a frantic row in Niigata whenever the ship made its entry. Right-wing elements including Niigata Prefectural Assemblymen from the Liberal Democratic Party, Secretary General of the Society of Abductees' Families Teruaki Masumoto and President of the Society for Rescue Katsumi Sato thronged to the Niigata Port and blustered that they would impose sanctions against the DPRK and resolutely oppose the portcall of the ship.

Golden Jubilee of Chongryon Celebrated in Japan

Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- Grand festivals of compatriots, rallies and meetings were held with splendor by local headquarters of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) from the middle of May to mark the golden jubilee of Chongryon. Grand festivals of Koreans in Japan took place in Hyogo, Hiroshima, Yamaguchi, Miyagi, Gifu, Shizuoka, Kumamoto and Yamagata Prefectures.
Speakers at those festivals said that without the Juche-oriented idea and leadership of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il over the movement of overseas compatriots and boundless love and care shown by them, the 50- year-long proud history of the patriotic movement and the Korean community today would be unthinkable.
They called upon all the compatriots to take the golden jubilee as a new starting point in adding to the exploits performed by the preceding generations and thus set an example in the world movement of overseas compatriots in the new century, too.
Colorful art performances were staged at those festivals.
Video tapes on which the immortal leadership exploits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and the glorious half a century-long history of Chongryon are recorded were shown and commemorative literature distributed at the festivals.
A special art performance was given by the Kumgangsan Opera Troupe, a song contest among families of compatriots held and a performance staged by Japanese artistes.
Meanwhile, a celebration rally was held in Fukuoka Prefecture, a celebration meeting in Kumamoto Prefecture and a congratulatory meeting in Yamagata Prefecture.
Various sports and cultural functions took place in many prefectural headquarters and branches of Chongryon on the occasion.
The grand festivals, meetings and functions in the local headquarters were attended by personages from all walks of life including local self-governing bodies and political, industrial, academic and press circles and social organizations and citizens of Japan. They helped deepen the DPRK-Japan friendly ties.
Receptions were arranged in different parts of Japan on the occasion.

U.S. Deployment of Stealth Fighter Bombers Blasted

Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Students' Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration reportedly issued a statement on June 6 denouncing the U.S. deployment of 15 F-117 Stealth fighter bombers in south Korea. The statement said that the U.S. deployment of 15 Stealth fighter bombers in south Korea is an undisguised move to provoke a war as it escalates the tension on the Korean Peninsula.
This deployment aimed at a preemptive strike at targets of the north is nothing but a prelude to a war, the statement noted, adding that this fact indicates the U.S. scenario for another Korean war is in the process of its implementation.
Accusing the U.S. of chilling the atmosphere of the Korean nation's movement for reunification, the statement called on all the people to intensify the anti-U.S. struggle.
The Korean nation will surely make this year a year of national reunification and a year of the withdrawal of the U.S. troops from south Korea, true to the joint declaration, the statement stressed.

Anniversary of June Resistance of South Korean People Observed

Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 18th anniversary of the June Popular Resistance of the south Korean people. They formed fighting ranks involving over 5 million people and waged a relentless fight, chanting slogans "Down with dictatorship", "Expel U.S. imperialists" and "National reunification". It was a massive anti-U.S., anti-fascist popular resistance of the south Korean people which dealt a telling blow to the military fascist dictatorship that lasted for nearly three decades and shook the colonial rule of the U.S. imperialists to its very foundation.
The June resistance left in history the precious truth that no force on earth can block the struggle of the popular masses for independence and they are sure to win when they fight in close unity for the cause of justice, Rodong Sinmun Friday declares in a signed article. It continues:
The U.S. rule over and occupation of south Korea is the root cause of all the misfortunes and sufferings of the south Korean people and the main obstacle to national reunification. Had the south Korean people rejected the deceptive "June 29 declaration" and won the final victory in the anti-U.S., anti-fascist resistance during the June popular resistance, south Korea would have already been made independent and democratic.
The June popular resistance awakened the south Korean people to the truth that they should completely ostracize the pro-U.S. forces standing against reunification in south Korea, if they are to realize their desire for independence, democracy and reunification. The south Korean people of all social strata should wage a more daring fight against the U.S. and the Grand National Party in the spirit and with the mettle displayed by the resistance fighters 18 years ago and thus remove the roadblocks in the era of "By our nation itself" and build earlier an independent new land.

Police Repression in S. Korea under Fire

Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- It is an intrinsic requirement of socialist economic management to maintain socialist principle and ensure biggest profitability. The socialist principle is the life and soul of the socialist economic management and profitability is the main objective of socialist economic activities. Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a signed article, a summary of which reads:
There can be no socialist economy away from the socialist principle.
Adherence to the socialist principle in economic management stands out with greater urgency under the present condition where the U.S. imperialists are stooping to any infamy in their desperate bid to destroy the socialist economic system of the DPRK and the objective circumstances of economic construction have changed.
The basic socialist principle is collectivism. The Party's leadership of the economic work should be firmly guaranteed and all the economic activities should be conducted under the unified plan of the state unlike the market economy based on the blind application of the law of value.
The socialist ownership of the means of production should be steadfastly maintained and the position and role of the popular masses as the master in production be firmly ensured and, furthermore, the principle of socialist distribution be strictly observed.
What is very important likewise in preserving the socialist principle in economic management is to invariably pursue such state policies as the systems of free medical care and free education clearly proving the advantages of Korea's socialism.
The main point on which a tight grip should be kept in socialist economic management is to ensure the biggest profitability in economic work. To this end, it is required to reduce the production cost and expenditure, increase the efficiency of investment and guide the officials, producers and technicians in all fields and units to actively explore methods of economic management suitable to ensuring economic profitability in economy and correct regulations to meet the need of profitability, the article concludes.

Korean People's Efforts for Reunification Supported

Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- The Democratic Congo-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Association and the Working Citizens' Association of Democratic Congo issued a joint statement on June 2 on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration. It reaffirmed their invariable full support to all the efforts and measures of the Korean people for the reunification of the country such as the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration.
    The statement went on:
The joint declaration is the most realistic reunification program to dispel the danger of war from the Korean Peninsula at the present juncture and achieve peaceful reunification. Over the last five years, under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il, a new era of independent reunification has opened, in which the inter-Korean relations of distrust and confrontation have turned into relations of reconciliation and cooperation. It is entirely Kim Jong Il's immortal exploit that the reunification movement has steadily developed in keeping with the idea of "By our nation itself" in spite of the obstructions of the U.S. and its followers.
The statement demanded that the United States stop at once all its acts of blocking Korea's reunification and pull its forces out of south Korea at an early date.

Police Repression in S. Korea under Fire

Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- The South Korean Federation of University Student Councils reportedly issued a statement Monday in protest against repression by the police which walked away a student Yun Yong Sok, former chairman of the Taegu and North Kyongsang Provincial Federation of University Student Councils. The statement noted that he was a patriotic student who devoted himself to the struggle against the pro-U.S. ultra-right anti-reunification forces going against the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration and for the repeal of the "National Security Law," the worst law for suppressing the patriotic forces.
It branded a series of arrests these days as the last-ditch bid of the pro-U.S. flunkeysts who are following the lead of the United States in the maneuvers to foil the June 15 grand festival for national reunification with the nuclear war moves on the Korean Peninsula.
The statement demanded of the authorities a prompt release of the patriotic students fighting for reunification and the repeal of the NSL, the evil law in the June 15 era.
