Dismantlement of UN Command in S. Korea Called for

Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Korean National Peace Committee called for the complete disbandment of the illegally organized "UN Command" in south Korea in a statement issued Saturday in connection with the U.S. recent moves to increase its role. The statement said:
Laporte, commander of the U.S. forces in south Korea, at U.S. Congressional hearing on Mar. 8 said he wished to see the role of the participants in the last Korean war increased to invite more personnel to work in the main office of the "UN Command". Last September he said that in case the armistice agreement collapses and hostilities are resumed, 16 members of the command will be reorganized for a coalition and they will continue to play the role as UN peace-keeping forces until the UN Security Council declares end of their duty.
The U.S. move to revive the "UN Command" which has remained defunct over the last years is aimed to launch the second Korean war of aggression under the UN signboard, the statement noted, and continued:
The U.S. should have dismantled the command long before. However, Washington has maintained it and gone the lengths of taking the recent measure. This is aimed to convince the international community that the Korean issue is an issue related to the UN, justify the U.S. moves for aggression and refer the nuclear issue to the UN for a noisier anti-DPRK row over the nuclear issue and thus invent a pretext for letting multinational forces automatically intervene in it under the UN signboard in case of contingency.
The DPRK will never allow the U.S. to infringe upon its dignity and sovereignty but deal merciless blows at the provocateurs and aggressors.
The U.S. should clearly understand its opponent and be serious about its behavior. It should immediately dismantle the command and pull back its aggression troops and lethal weapons from south Korea without delay as demanded by the UN resolution.
