They pointed out that they would channel great efforts into scientific researches to achieve a radical change in agricultural production this year and make a positive contribution to placing all fields of the national economy including power, coal and metal industries and railway transport on a modern IT basis.
They made a study tour of revolutionary battle sites and historical sites in the area of Mt. Paektu from Mar. 26 to 29.
During the tour they had diverse political and cultural programs.

The booklet praised Kim Jong Il as the great leader who created a peculiar political mode with his unique political philosophy.     His Songun politics occupies a distinguished place in his political mode.
Under his wise leadership the DPRK has become a political power which stands undeterred by any political turmoil in the world.
Kim Jong Il has rare organizing capability, indefatigable practical ability and distinguished creative ingenuity.
The booklet referred in detail to the fact that he has consolidated the single-minded unity of the whole society and wisely led the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation.
It concluded that the army and the people of the DPRK led by Kim Jong Il possessed of unique political caliber will always emerge victorious.

WPK's Stand Supported by Malian Party Leader

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- The chairman of the African Party for the Solidarity and Justice of Mali supported the resolute stand and efforts of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) to defend the country's sovereignty and national destiny despite the U.S. moves to stifle the DPRK, when meeting DPRK Ambassador to Mali Kim Pong Hui on Mar. 16. We reject the U.S. assertion that no other countries but the U.S. can have access to nuclear weapons, he said, stressing that the DPRK's stand on the nuclear issue is just.
We believe that the Korean people single-mindedly united around leader Kim Jong Il will achieve the country's reunification in the near future, he said.

Yemeni President Supports Korean People's Struggle

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- Yemen is encouraged by the efforts made by the DPRK to ensure peace in the Korean Peninsula and fairly settle the nuclear issue. We wish the Korean people greater success in their efforts to build a great prosperous powerful nation and achieve the country's reunification. Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh said this when receiving credentials from DPRK Ambassador to Yemen Jang Myong Son on Mar. 26.
Noting that he is pleased with the long-standing friendly and cooperative relations between Yemen and the DPRK, he stressed that he would make every possible effort to boost the relations between the two countries in various fields in the future.

Entry of U.S. Nuclear Submarine into S. Korean Port Assailed

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- The recent disclosure of the fact that a U.S. nuclear submarine entered the south Korean naval base in Jinhae touched off great concern and anger among all the Koreans and other world peace-loving people. A spokesman for the Korean Anti-Nuke Peace Committee in a statement on Mar. 29 said this incident once again clearly proved that the U.S. is bent on making preparations for a nuclear war to bring a horrendous disaster to the Korean nation in violation of the principle of denuclearization though it is talking about the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. The statement went on:
In January 1958, that is 47 years ago, the U.S. introduced nuclear weapons into south Korea, spurning a serious nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula.
History and reality go to patently prove that the nuclear issue surfaced on the peninsula entirely because the U.S. threatened the DPRK with nuclear weapons after introducing them into south Korea and the threat of nukes does not come from the DPRK but from the U.S.
The U.S. and its followers assert that the DPRK's "dismantlement of its nuclear weapons" would lead to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
But this is a far-fetched assertion which makes profound confusing of right and wrong. The DPRK's possession of nuclear weapons is the best option for denuclearizing the peninsula and it is to protect the nation's supreme interests.
The U.S. demand for the DPRK's "abandonment of its nuclear weapons" is to achieve its sinister aim to disarm the latter and destroy its socialist system.
The U.S. should not raise a hue and cry over someone's "nuclear issue" like a thief crying "Stop the thief!" but drop its ambition to invade the DPRK and immediately quit south Korea taking with it all its aggressor forces and weapons of mass destruction including nukes.
The south Korean authorities should stop at once the cooperation with the U.S. in its moves for a nuclear war, keenly aware that their behavior allowing the U.S. to bring the above-said submarine to south Korea and joining the foreign forces in staging the nuclear war exercises targeted against their fellow countrymen are treacherous acts of driving the Korean nation to ruin and inviting self-destruction.

Japanese Government Involved in Adoption of "Takeshima Day" Ordinance

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- South Korean MBC said there as evidence proving that the Japanese government was deeply involved in the passage of the "Takeshima (Tok Islet) Day" ordinance through the Shimane Prefectural Assembly of Japan.
Recalling that a meeting demanding the return of "Takeshima" and the "northern territory" was held in Shimane Prefecture in November 2003, MBC noted that it obtained a video tape on which the account of the meeting is recorded.
It showed Chief Cabinet Secretary Hosoda and many other high ranking officials of the central government, MBC pointed out, and continued:
Yoriko Kawaguchi, foreign minister at that time, in her congratulatory address said that Tok Islet belongs to Japan. She clarified the government's will to strongly back the dispute over the islet when she said she would like to keep in close touch with those present at the meeting to support the campaign by building up a public opinion.
The meeting gave great momentum to every procedure. As a result, the Shimane Prefectural Assembly proposed a motion four months later and an ordinance on instituting the so-called "Takeshima Day" passed through it on Mar. 16.
The assertion of the Japanese government that the recent measure taken by the Shimane Prefectural Assembly was nothing but a decision of an autonomous organization was hypocritical.

Koreans in U.S. Assail Japan's Claim to Tok Islet

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- Koreans in the United States held a meeting to defend Tok Islet and denounce Japan in front of the Japanese Consulate General in Los Angeles on Mar. 24, according to the Internet homepage Minjok Thongsin in the U.S. The participants in the meeting strongly denounced Japan for its shameless moves to seize Tok Islet and distortion of its history, shouting slogans such as "Tok Islet belongs to our territory."
Up until now the south Korean government has reacted to the revival of militarism in Japan too mildly, talking about "calm diplomacy" for fear of getting on the nerves of Japan, they noted, adding: There can be no peaceful future unless Japan reflects on its past crimes.
At the end of the meeting they held a demonstration in protest against Japan's high-handed claim to the islet.
A letter of protest was handed to the Japanese Consulate General that day.
It said: Tok Islet belongs to the territory of Korea and it is not "Takeshima" and the East Sea of Korea is not "Japanese Sea". The claim of the Japanese authorities is senseless and wrong.

Zambian President Supports DPRK's Stand

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- Zambia opposes the use and threat of nuclear weapons and holds that nuclear energy should be used for a peaceful purpose in any case. The nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. should be settled through dialogue on the principle of mutual respect. Zambian President Levy Patrick Mwanawasa said this when meeting leader of the DPRK delegation Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly who paid a courtesy call on him on Mar. 27.
At the meeting the president said Zambia would support the stand of the DPRK to achieve the country's reunification by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation according to the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
Noting that the cooperation rendered by the DPRK to various fields of Zambia including agriculture, education and culture was greatly helpful to its socio-economic development, he stressed that Zambia would boost the exchange and cooperation with the DPRK in the future.

Japan's Moves to Revise Its Constitution under Fire

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- The "Committee for Drafting New Constitution" of the Japanese ruling Liberal Democratic Party is busy with its moves to announce the "proposal for the revision of the constitution" in late April which calls for the reorganization of the "Self-Defence Forces (SDF)" into a regular army and Japan's "international contribution", etc. In this regard Rodong Sinmun Wednesday says in a signed commentary:
This is nothing but a move to have a constitution modeled on the war constitution which encouraged the Japanese imperialists to provoke the Pacific War in the past. It is an indication that the Japanese reactionaries have reached a full-fledged phase in their moves to create a perfect legal and institutional environment for turning Japan into a military giant and realizing its ambition for overseas expansion.
The "Pacifist Constitution" codifies as a state policy that Japan shall not pursue a war again nor participate in any military action of such form as a defeated nation after the end of the Second World War. It is by the force of the "Pacifist Constitution" that the Japanese militarists have not openly pursued their wild ambition for reinvasion. If Japan does not want to retain the ill-fame as a war and aggressor state, it should not revise the "Pacifist Constitution".
The Japanese militarists' loudmouthed "international contribution" is nothing but an artifice to justify Japan's moves to become a military giant and realize overseas expansion.
The real aim sought by them in the revision of the constitution, while talking about "international contribution" is to have a war constitution and thus provide a legal and institutional mechanism to embark on legitimate and open overseas aggression.
With nothing can the Japanese reactionaries cover up their reactionary and aggressive nature of their moves to revise the constitution.
They had better behave themselves, mindful that the revision of the constitution would only precipitate Japan's self-destruction.

AINDF Denounces U.S. Moves for Nuclear War

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front (AINDF) made public a statement on Mar. 28 denouncing the U.S. reckless moves for a nuclear war, according to Kuguk Jonson Internet site. The statement said:
The disclosure of the fact that a U.S. attack nuclear submarine entered the naval base in Jinhae of south Korea to participate in the war exercises targeted against the north trigged off strong protest and anger from the people of different walks of life.
In this regard, the U.S. and the south Korean military authorities claimed that it is true the nuclear submarine entered Jinhae Port for RSOI, but it carried no nuclear weapons and that nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers regularly visit there to participate in "south Korea-U.S. joint operations".
This self-exposed the fact that U.S. nuclear war equipment is introduced into this land any time.
This goes to clearly prove once again that the U.S. has persistently and premeditatedly made reckless preparations for a nuclear war for years to impose a nuclear disaster upon the Korean nation.
The AINDF sternly denounces the entry of the U.S. nuclear submarine into Jinhae Port as it is an extremely provocative act to drive the Korean nation into a scourge of a nuclear war at any cost.
It was quite natural for the north to have built nuclear deterrent for self-defence in order to cope with the U.S. moves for a war of aggression against it. And it is entirely just for the north to bolster its nuclear arsenal now that the U.S. is escalating the tension by ceaselessly introducing nuclear war equipment including a nuclear submarine into south Korea.
People from all walks of life should not remain a passive on-looker to the U.S. dangerous moves for a nuclear war but foil its attempt to launch a war against the north through cooperation with the north for peace against war.
The U.S. should behave itself, properly understanding the Korean people's strong will to fight the U.S. and achieve peaceful reunification and the pro-U.S. military authorities should immediately stop cooperating with the U.S. for a war.

Reckless Remarks of Minister of Japanese Embassy in Washington Assailed

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- The south Korean MBC on March 26 reported that recently a minister of the Japanese embassy in Washington contributed to a U.S. newspaper an article claiming that Tok Islet is part of the Japanese territory. He falsified the fact in his article, which said: It is proper to call the sea between Japan and Korea Japanese Sea and Tok Islet should be called Takeshima as the islet is part of the territory of Japan. There is no need to change the name of the sea into the East Sea as the Japanese Sea has long been in use.
In March last year the UN confirmed that the Japanese Sea is the standard name, he insisted, arguing that the designation of the sea as both Japanese Sea and the East Sea of Korea would upset practice.
But, in fact, the Japanese government received the above-said reply to its letter submitted to an office of the UN.
Earlier, the Japanese embassy reorganized its work system whereby the cultural affair which had been looked after by the minister in charge of information is left to other diplomat, the MBC noted, interpreting this as a move of the Japanese government to intensify the overseas propaganda as regards the issue of Tok Islet.

Fiction Floated by U.S. under Fire

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- Some days ago, a senior researcher of the U.S. Congressional Research Service in a report on the relations between the U.S. and south Korea published "information" to the effect that north Korea started to massively purchase equipment related to the highly enriched uranium after the influx of Hyundai fund in 1999 and the fund is instrumental in purchasing parts of weapons of mass destruction and materials for their production. A spokesman for the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee in his answer given to a question put by KCNA on March 29 in this regard said that it is an absurd plot not worth even a passing note and betrays ignorance and lack of sense about the DPRK.
The DPRK's development of nukes is based on the powerful independent national economy from A to Z and it is a sheer lie to claim that it has built nuclear deterrent with a petty amount of money provided by others, he noted, and went on:
The U.S. had floated similar misinformation in the past only to be rebuffed.
As already revealed by what the U.S. did to launch the Iraqi war of aggression, it is its trite method to invade other countries on the basis of false information.
The U.S.-floated fiction about the DPRK's purchase of nuclear-related equipment with the fund from Hyundai is politically motivated. It is nothing but a version of the bankrupt nonsensical story invented by the U.S. several years back to derail the inter-Korean economic cooperation and slander the historic Pyongyang meeting and the June 15 joint declaration.
At that time, the U.S. induced the above-said research service to make public an "investigation report" to the effect that north Korea diverted the money paid for Mt. Kumgang tourism since 1998 to military purposes including the experiment on detonating device for nukes. Then it provided the report to the Grand National Party so that the south Korean right-wing conservatives kicked up a racket calling for a "special inspection of remittance to the north."
However, the U.S. report turned out to be a sheer fabrication and was thrown into a waste basket after being ridiculed and rebuffed at home and abroad.
The U.S. should have drawn a lesson from this if it had stood to reason even a bit.
Nevertheless, it is still busy floating the worn-out fiction of the "diversion of Hyundai fund." Through this row the U.S. seeks to inject energy into its insipid nuclear racket, hamstring the inter-Korean economic cooperation and tighten the economic sanctions against the DPRK.
However, no one will lend an ear to its propaganda.
The U.S. should stop such folly, clearly understanding that its lies and deception, plots and fabrication can not work on others in this world but will more saliently reveal its despicable colors as a cesspool of evils, a chieftain of tyranny.

Japan's Move to Grab Part of Korean Territory Flailed

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- The Shimane Prefectural Assembly of Japan passed a motion on instituting Feb. 22 as the "Day of Takeshima (Tok Islet)" on March 16, when a reconnaissance plane of the Japanese "Self-Defense Forces" flew close to air above Tok Islet. The Japanese authorities are permitting and stimulating the right wing reactionaries' moves to seize the islet. Minju Joson Wednesday in a signed commentary charges that the action of Japan concerning the islet was not prompted by sudden impulse or the sentiment of the people but organized and practiced according to a premeditated scenario.
Japan's claim to the islet shows that Japan that has increased its capability for reinvasion for revenge is finally entering an earnest phase of achieving its ambition for reinvasion, the news analyst says, and goes on:
It is the ulterior intention of Japan to create a territorial dispute on the islet between Korea and Japan and make the international community admit it before provoking a war of reinvasion of Korea.
Japan's claim to the islet can be construed as a prelude to its comeback to Korea.
The crafty and base moves of Japan to look for a chance of reinvasion while asserting that the islet belongs to Japan can never be pardoned.

Intensified Sports Activities in Pyongyang

Sports meets are also being held at football fields and open-air basketball and tennis courts built at the foot of Moran Hill and on Rungna and Yanggak Islets and athletic grounds of institutions.
More than 1,000 people visit the People's Palace of Culture, a center of entertainment, on a daily average to enjoy sports games and amusements such as volleyball, table-tennis, paduk (go), Korean chess and yut.
Kim Yong Il, 60, who is a resident in Central District, told KCNA after participating in a volleyball game: Sports activities give me youthfulness and enthusiasm for work and life. So I am fond of sports and come here frequently in my spare time.

Steel Production System by UHP Established in DPRK

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- Scientists and technicians of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have established a steel production system by ultra-high power. The system includes UHP electric furnace, ladle refining furnace, continuous casting and continuous rolling processes.
What is the main in the system is the UHP electric furnace.
The old UHP electric furnaces were based on ample electricity for the transformer capacity.
The scientists and technicians manufactured devices for overcoming voltage drop and high harmonic caused by the instable power system and developed advanced methods of melting by UHP electric furnace and automatic electrode control system and thus succeeded in establishing the steel production system by UHP.
The new system can raise the productivity 15 times and cut down the consumption of electricity to one-seventh compared with the ordinary electric furnace.
The system is capable of producing all sorts of steel including tube, plate, wire rod and bar.
