Japan's Move to Grab Tok Islet and Distort History Assailed in S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- The Teachers Union, the National Teachers Union and the Federation of Teachers Organizations of south Korea reportedly issued a joint statement titled "We condemn Japan's claim to Tok Islet and distortion of history" on Mar. 15. The statement termed Japanese government's moves to seize the Tok Islet and distort the history in order to beautify the Japanese imperialists' colonial domination over Korea an undisguised challenge to the Korean nation and an encroachment on its territorial sovereignty.
We will conduct positive education to foil Japan's moves for aggression and protect the national sovereignty, it stressed.
The statement strongly demanded the Japanese government correct as early as possible the downplayed and distorted Japan's criminal past history in the course of screening history textbooks.

Ten-day Korean Film Show Opens in Democratic Congo

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- A ceremony of opening the ten-day Korean film show was held in Kinshasa on Mar. 15 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun, the 12th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and the 73rd founding anniversary of the Korean People's Army. On display in the venue of the ceremony were photos introducing the immortal Songun leadership feats performed by Kim Jong Il.
An opening address was made by Otete Gaston Mboyo, chairman of the National Committee of the Genuine Lumumbist Patriotic Party of Democratic Congo, to be followed by speeches.
The speakers referred to the fact that President Kim Il Sung founded the immortal Juche idea after embarking upon the road of revolutionary struggle at his early age, founded the Korean People's Revolutionary Army and defeated the Japanese imperialists to liberate the country. He set up the people's government and led the Fatherland Liberation War to victory and dedicated his all to the happiness of the people and national reunification, they added.
They spoke highly of the invincibility and vitality of the Songun politics, noting that the military capacity of the DPRK has grown stronger than ever before thanks to the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.
The participants watched a Korean documentary "The Korean People's Army, Steel-strong Ranks."

WFTU Denounces U.S.-S. Korea Military Exercises

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) in its statement on Mar. 16 strongly demanded the U.S. and south Korean authorities stop the war exercises for aggression and take an honest approach towards the issue of resuming the six-party talks. Referring to the fact that U.S.-led large-scale military exercises would be staged across south Korea from Mar. 19 to 25, the statement said: The U.S.-led three-dimensional nuclear war exercises with nuclear strike groups involved are pushing the situation in the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia to a new phase of tension.
The DPRK clarified its principled stand that it would seek a negotiated peaceful solution to the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. and go out for the talks when there are mature conditions for them, the statement recalled, adding:
It is a wrong attitude for the U.S. to stage large-scale nuclear war exercises instead of positively responding to this. This goes to prove that the U.S. aggressive nature remains unchanged.
The U.S. should roll back its hostile policy towards the DPRK at once.

Solidarity Rally of Civic Organizations in S. Korea and Japan Held

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- A solidarity rally of civic organizations in south Korea and Japan was reportedly held in front of the building of "National Assembly" in Seoul on Mar. 18 in protest against the distortion of history by the ultra-right conservative forces of Japan. At the rally Ryang Mi Gang, permanent steering chairman of the Solidarity for Asian Peace and History Education, Kim Ji Ye, vice-chairperson of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, Kim Pom Ryol, vice-chairman of the National Teachers Union (Jongyojo), and other speakers denounced them for tampering with the history and called upon the civic organizations of south Korea and Japan to conduct joint actions against Japan's moves to revive militarism.
Members of the national network to try those responsible for the forcible drafting and the network for post-war compensation, speaking on behalf of the civic organizations in Japan, noted Japan brought great sufferings to the Korean people. They called on the civic organizations in Japan and south Korea to firmly solidarize with each other and jointly counter the moves of those forces to distort the history.
A statement adopted at the rally noted that Japan's moves to tamper its history are jeopardizing the peace in Northeast Asia, and urged the Japanese government to honestly reflect on the past history of aggression and conduct proper education in history.
It demanded that the Japanese government bar the distorted history textbooks from being adopted.

Japan's Moves to Revive Militarism under Fire

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- The Society for Cooperation among Koreans in Germany reportedly released a statement titled "We accuse Japan of dreaming of second aggression" on Mar. 17. The statement branded the Japanese Shimane Prefectural Assembly's passage of the "Takeshima (Tok Islet) Day" ordinance as another unpardonable criminal act against the Korean nation and the world people who oppose war and love peace as it reveals Japan's aggressive ambition to dominate Asia.
Japan has not yet abandoned its moves to revive militarism, it said, and continued:
    We warn Japan.
Japan should scrap the ordinance, beg the Koreans and other people of the world to pardon it and halt at once its acts of harassing peace against the desire of humankind. Japan should properly understand that the Korean nation is no longer what used to be a hundred years back as it will never be taken in by the smoke screen and crafty trick of Japan.

Japan's Ambition to Grab Tok Islet Denounced in S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- The south Korean political camp denounced the Shimane Prefectural Assembly of Japan for passing the "Takeshima (Tok Islet) Day" ordinance, according to south Korean KBS and MBC. The south Korean government in its statement on March 16 charged that the ordinance passed by the Shimane Prefectural Assembly is a full revelation of Japan's ambition for reinvasion, noting that Tok Islet is part of the inviolable territory of Korea from the historical, geographical and international legal point of view.
That day the ruling and opposition parties held an emergency meeting at which they agreed to inaugurate an ad hoc measure committee to defend Tok Islet in the "National Assembly."
Lawmakers from ruling and opposition parties affiliated to the "Society of National Assemblymen for Proper History Education" and the "Society of National Assemblymen for the Settlement of Past History" held a press conference that day at which they termed the reckless moves of the Japanese ultra-right conservative forces "an outright violation of the territorial sovereignty of Korea and a signal for the revival of the departed soul of militarists" and demanded the Japanese government immediately withdraw the ordinance with proper understanding of history. The "Coordinated Diplomacy and Trade Committee" and the "Educational Committee" of the "National Assembly" urged the "government" to take measures to defend Tok Islet and, at the same time, strongly react to Japan's moves to distort the history textbooks.
The Democratic Workers' Party demanded the "government" expel the Japanese ambassador from south Korea, suspend various forms of talks and exchanges with the Japanese authorities and institute a special law on defending the islet.
The "Uri Party" held an emergency "general meeting of national assemblymen" on March 17 at which it made public a resolution denouncing the reckless moves of Japan. Meanwhile, north Kyongsang provincial authorities at a press conference on March 16 announced measures to defend Tok Islet and declared the severance of the sister ties with Shimane Prefecture. The Taejon city authorities in its statement on March 18 declared the severance of its sister relations with Ota City of the prefecture.
In another development, the Seoul Hungsadan and the Fellowship Society for Tok Islet in Seoul on March 17 declared they would launch across south Korea a campaign for boycotting goods produced by 4 Japanese enterprises supporting the moves to distort history textbooks.
MBC of south Korea also disclosed that day that the Japanese right-wing forces are trying to regain the self-esteem of Japan injured by the collapse of bubble economy through the moves to become a military power and expansionism. It held that such ambition is getting more undisguised due to the tacit connivance and encouragement of the U.S. keen to put forward Japan, a war criminal, as the "leader of Northeast Asia."

Film Show Held

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- A film show was held at the People's Palace of Culture on Mar. 21 on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of the signing of the agreement on economic and cultural cooperation between the DPRK and the Russian Federation. It was sponsored by the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the DPRK-Russia Friendship Association Present there on invitation was Russian Ambassador e. p. to the DPRK Andrei Karlov. Hong Son Ok, vice-chairwoman of the committee who is chairwoman of the friendship association, was among those present there.
The participants appreciated a Russian feature film.

Reorganization of U.S. Forces Assailed

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- The Bush bellicose forces are absorbed in reorganizing the Second Division of the U.S. forces in south Korea into a new combat system. This is one more open challenge and provocation to the sincere efforts of the DPRK for the six-party talks and a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue as it is a clear evidence of the U.S. accelerated preparations for a preemptive attack on the DPRK. This is what Rodong Sinmun says in its commentary Tuesday.
    The news analyst goes on:
The U.S. is working to hasten the qualitative reinforcement of its forces present in south Korea and carry into practice its scheme to invade the DPRK by a preemptive attack with task forces involving new latest weapons and medium-and long-range offensive means.
Having replaced the existing military strategy based on the ground force with a long-range strike strategy based on the task force, the United States is scheming to round off on its extension line the reorganization of the U.S. forces in south Korea two years earlier than schedule. This is patent proof that the Bush forces are afire with the wild ambition for a war against the DPRK.
The U.S has reached so grave stage in its aggressive strategy as it is working hard to hold unrivaled military predominance by boosting the strategic and mobile attack forces and long-range operation capability to an unprecedented level in and around south Korea and, on this basis, stifle the DPRK by force of arms and seize military initiative in Northeast Asia.
For this reason south Korea finds itself in a dangerous phase where it may be embroiled into regional disputes in its surroundings and international armed conflicts at any moment.
The U.S. should stop its reckless war gamble right away, clearly aware that the reorganization of forces and war moves against the DPRK which drive the situation to confrontation and brink of a war are acts of self-destruction.

Japan's Reinvasion Scheme Blasted

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- The institution of "Takeshima Day" by the Shimane Prefectural Assembly of Japan is a clear proof that the moves of the Japanese reactionaries to stage a comeback to Korea and their militarist ambition have gone beyond the danger line, notes Minju Joson in a signed commentary Tuesday. It goes on: Underlying this action that timed to coincide with evermore undisguised maneuvers to distort the history textbook in Japan is the nefarious intention to inspire the society as a whole, the younger generation in particular, with militarist ideological poison and repeat the bloody history of aggression.
It must not go unnoticed that the moves to grab Tok Islet and make a distorted new history textbook are being pushed forward with the connivance and zealous aegis of the Japanese authorities. This is proved by the fact that the Japanese authorities with regard to the institution of "Takeshima Day" stated "the central government is not in a position to interfere in the affairs of a local autonomous body" and the "Dietmen's League for Defense of the Japanese Territory" comprising ruling and opposition lawmakers published a statement fully supporting the institution of the day by the Shimane Prefectural Assembly.
The Japanese reactionaries' act for territorial expansion and reinvasion designs are intolerable insult to and mockery of the sovereignty and dignity of the Korean nation.
Tok Islet is a precious piece of land which is like a chop of flesh of the Korean nation to be handed down through generations. The south Korean people should deal a hard blow to the moves of the Japanese reactionaries to grab the islet and distort history.

U.S. Imperialists' Anti-DPRK Moves under Fire

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is getting evermore undisguised in its moves against the reunification of Korea, while leaving no means untried to isolate the DPRK and destroy its socialist system centered on the popular masses, says Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a signed article. It goes on: The U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK is a policy of state-sponsored terrorism. Lurking behind it is a sinister design to seize the whole Korean Peninsula and thus lay a firm springboard from which to realize its Asia strategy.
This is also a policy of aggression to stifle and dominate the latter by force.
It is the real intention of the U.S. to stifle the DPRK by force of arms.
The U.S. aggressive plan to realize the intention has been already completed. It has huge aggressor armed forces with high mobility and great striking power in place and has made full preparations for a war through different forms of war drills. The only thing to be done by the U.S. is just to find a pretext for invading the DPRK. The nuclear issue may be used by it as a fuse to ignite the war. It was the U.S. that spurned the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. The former's deterrent is for self-defence to all intents and purposes. The U.S. imperialists have incessantly kicked up a row of nuclear threat, beefing up their aggressor forces after designating the DPRK as the target of their nuclear attack. In consequence, the situation in the Korean Peninsula is so tense that a nuclear war may break out there any moment.
Disclosing the policy pursued by the U.S. imperialists against the reunification of Korea, dead-set against the inter-Korean reconciliation and unity, cooperation and exchange, the article says that their hostile policy toward the DPRK that goes against the desire of the Korean nation and the trend of the times can never be tolerated.
Any Korean should not remain a passive on-looker to the U.S. imperialists' moves against the DPRK and reunification at a time when the U.S. is going wild in its attempt to hurt the destiny of the Korean nation, the article concludes.

KCNA on Reorganization of U.S. Troops in S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- The commander of the U.S. second division in south Korea when interviewed by the Stars and Stripes recently said that the majority of his division would be converted into a combat division with increased air and artillery power by this summer strong enough to execute a long-range operation single-handedly. He disclosed that one combat brigade equipped with heavy weapons has already been organized and there has begun the work to create a multi-mission air brigade, adding that a battalion-size special unit is expected to emerge within a few months to come.
This would drastically increase the strike and mobile capability of the division and turn it into a super division, the first of its kind in the world, as it would be equipped with preemptive nuclear strike means which earned an ill-fame as up-to-date lethal weapons in the Iraqi and Afghan wars. This clearly proves that the reorganization of the division is a very dangerous military step to convert it into one capable of mounting a more rapid and accurate preemptive attack on the DPRK, ensure its qualitative military edge and contain the DPRK by force.
The U.S. has reorganized its forces more than once. But this reorganization has neither led to drastically reducing its forces in south Korea nor resulted in easing tension and bringing peace to Korea. Every reorganization farce offered an opportunity of reinforcing its troops, raising their qualitative level and escalating the war moves.
The U.S. intends to form independent infantry, air force, engineering and artillery brigades under the pretext of the renewed "reorganization". It also seeks to convert the division, nearly half of its forces in south Korea, into a super division with strong air and artillery power. This indicates fresh forward-deployment and beefing up of its troops to preempt an attack on the DPRK at any cost.
These moves of the U.S. are one more open challenge and a serious provocation against the Koreans who have exerted sincere efforts for the detente on the Korean Peninsula and a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue.
Aggression and war are what keeps the U.S. alive. By stepping up the reorganization of the forces in south Korea the U.S. seeks a foolish aim to enhance their capability to expand the scope of operation to areas around the Korean Peninsula any moment, going beyond the boundary of the DPRK, and thus hold military supremacy in Northeast Asia. Northeast Asia is a key front and region for the U.S. in implementing its strategy to dominate the world in the 21st century. That's why the U.S. bellicose forces are desperately working to reorganize all their forces in south Korea including the division and convert them into modern forces for mobile and long-range operations.
These facts show how just the DPRK was when it had access to nuclear weapons. This proves that its nukes serve as strong deterrent for preventing the outbreak of a new war in the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia and preserving peace there.
    The U.S. is gravely mistaken.
It should clearly understand that the reorganization of its troops and its moves to provoke a war against the DPRK will invite its self-destruction as they would push the situation to confrontation and war.
It should not reorganize its troops but withdraw them from south Korea to the last man at an early date and stop at once its reckless arms buildup and joint military exercises against the north.

Japan's Move for Territorial Expansion Flayed

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- Japan now persists in its "claim" to territories of Korea, China and Russia and other countries surrounding it, inciting confrontation. In this regard, Minju Joson today carries a signed commentary underlining the need to heighten vigilance against Japan's moves for territorial expansion.
This campaign of Japan is very dangerous as it may wreck the peace and security not only in the region but also in the rest of Asia and its ultimate aim is to provoke a war for overseas aggression, the news analyst says, and goes on:
The present developments in Northeast Asia compel us to come to clear-cut conclusions.
One of them is that Japan is not eligible to participate in the six-way talks as it has aggravated the regional situation, following the U.S.
It is as clear as noonday that its participation in the talks will spoil their atmosphere and further complicate the solution of the issues brought up in the talks.
Another conclusion is that it is hard to ensure lasting peace and security in the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Asia, with Japan left alone.
In order to remove the actual danger prevailing in Northeast Asia and safeguard the peace and security in the peninsula and the rest of Asia, it is urgent to smash every rash move of Japan for reinvasion, including the campaign for territorial expansion, with utmost vigilance against it.
All the countries concerned and the peace-loving people of the world should sharpen their alertness and closely watch the anachronistic action of Japan seeking to realize its ambition for territorial expansion, tailing behind the U.S.
Japan should behave itself, properly understanding the reality.

Japan Urged to Disclose Truth behind Fabrication of Results of DNA Test

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) --The British science magazine Nature recently disclosed on its Internet site that the results of the DNA test of the remains of Japanese woman Megumi Yokota released by Japan were a sheer fabrication and lie. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday carries a signed article in this regard.
It has been disclosed to the world that the results of the DNA examination of Megumi's remains turned out to be a sheer fabrication quite contrary to the assertions made by right-wing reactionary politicians and reactionary media of Japan, the article notes, citing facts to prove that the results of the test released by Japan are logically contradictory and do not stand to reason in view of the development of matters and phenomena.
    The article goes on:
The Japanese reactionaries tried to use the issue of "false remains" in aggravating the DPRK-Japan confrontation, scrapping the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration and creating an atmosphere favorable for staging a comeback to Korea. However, such clumsy trick would get them nowhere. On the contrary, it would render the situation more complicated and push Japan into a deplorable position.
The right-wing conservative politicians of Japan are despicable philistines, mean political careerists, imposters and shameless guys bereft of any reason, morality and humanitarianism.
Japan should repent of its falsification of truth and fabrication of sheer lies and feel ashamed of such acts. It should be honest before history and take a sincere approach toward human beings. Human beings should be placed above politics, and conscience and morality should be observed before talking about laws. Japan should stand trial before justice and history, be responsible for hatching plots and deceiving and mocking people's mindset.
Japan can never cover up the truth behind the fabrication of the results of the DNA test of the remains. The Japanese reactionaries should stop such rash act to attain their sinister political purpose by raising a hue and cry over the issue of "false remains."
It should face up to the reality, frankly open to the international community the truth behind their mean fabrication of the results of the DNA test and apologize to the Koreans for it.

World Water Day Marked

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson today dedicates a signed article observing the World Water Day. A campaign is now underway in the DPRK to preserve the water resources, manage and effectively use them on a modern scientific and technological basis under the care of the state, the paper notes, and says:
Paekma-Cholsan Waterway Project and other undertakings are rapidly progressing to readjust and further reinforce the state-managing system for the preservation and comprehensive control and use of water.
The DPRK is also conducting projects to put preservation and management of water resources on a more scientific and technological basis in cooperation with international bodies.

Various Quality Filters Made in DPRK

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- Dr. Han Won Ok of Han Tok Su Pyongyang University of Light Industry in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has developed various kinds of effective filters. The filters have been applied to several dozen foodstuff, pharmaceutical and chemical plants including the Pyongyang Spirits Factory and the Kanggye Wine Factory to improve the quality of products remarkably.
Among the filters are fibre cartridge housing filter, complex cartridge housing filter and micro-housing filter. They are all made with local raw materials.
The fibre cartridge housing filter is applicable to all foodstuff, pharmaceutical and chemical plants. It has been introduced to the high-tech filtering process of the newly built Tongyang Spring Water Factory.
It has several models with the capacity ranging from 50 liters to 700 liters per hour.
The complex cartridge housing filter is used in filtering all kinds of solution and suspension with diatom earth and activated carbon as auxiliary materials.
There are two kinds of micro-housing filter. One is bellow-style micro-housing filter and the other is plate-style micro-housing filter.

Frequent War Exercises Bound to Lead to War

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- Thick clouds of war are hovering over the Korean peninsula again. The U.S. imperialists and the south Korean bellicose forces started large-scale joint military maneuvers, a combination of reception, staging, onward-movement and integration exercise (RSOI) and Foal Eagle military drill against the DPRK, in south Korea on March 19.
The maneuvers of offensive nature are an enlarged version of the "Team Spirit" joint military exercises which had been held for nearly 20 years from 1976.
The "Team Spirit", a test nuclear war and preliminary war against the DPRK, was suspended by the demand and pressure of the Korean people and the international community in 1994.
Even after the suspension of the "Team Spirit", the U.S. and south Korean authorities have included its function in other large-scale joint military exercises and staged combined offensive maneuvers against the DPRK without interruption.
The "RSOI", which started in 1994, is aimed at enhancing the maneuverability of the reinforced U.S. forces to be deployed on the Korean peninsula and perfecting a joint operation of the U.S. and south Korean forces against the north in an "emergency".
The "Foal Eagle", which has been staged annually from 1961, is a typical nuclear offensive exercise to surprise the strategic depth of the DPRK.
In recent years, however, they have staged these two exercises in a combination which is similar with the "Team Spirit".
They are now preparing for an invasion of the DPRK irrespective of times and seasons. They stage the "RSOI" and "Foal Eagle" in the first half of the year and "Ulji-focus Lens" joint military exercises in the latter half, thus completing their strategy of preemptive attack on the DPRK.
Anti-U.S. sentiments are growing stronger among the army and people of the DPRK. They are now taking all necessary steps including bolstering of its nuclear arsenal to cope with the extremely dangerous moves of the United States.

New Kimilsungia Cultivation Method Developed

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- Scientists of the Experimental Biological Institute of the Branch Academy of Biology under the Academy of Sciences of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have developed a new method of cultivating Kimilsungia. According to the new method, they cultivate flower seedlings with extracts from substances which are abundant in Korea without using various kinds of expensive reagents.
It makes it possible to shorten the cultivating period of seedlings to five months from eight while cultivating them two or three times bigger than those by the old method. Three or four years had been needed to bring the flower into bloom but a year and six months or two years are enough in case of the new method.
They have also found out the characteristics of flower-bud differentiation of Kimilsungia and a method of controlling the flowering period so as to make the flower open any time including the Sun's Day, President Kim Il Sung's birthday (April 15).
They, on the basis of their research, published the book "Biology of Kimilsungia" which deals with the flower's biological features, cultivating condition and propagating method.
