Kimjongilia Estimated as King of Flowers

     Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- Immortal Kimjongilia is now appreciated by people at home and abroad as a "flower of the sun revered by all people", "valuable flower representing the times", "the best flower in the world", "king of flowers", etc. This flower was awarded a special prize, gold medal, diploma and other top prizes at the 12th International Flower Show held in Czechoslovakia in May 1991, the Nordic Flower Show in Sweden in March 1995, the Jilin, China, Flower Exhibition in August 1997, the China 99 Kunming World Horticultural Expo in May 1999, the Begonia Show held in California of the United States in August 2004, etc. The facts go to clearly prove that Kimjongilia is the most beautiful flower in the world.
    The flower received the top "Grand" prize and diploma at the China 99 Kunming World Horticultural Expo, the largest in the world, as it brought together 69 countries and 26 international bodies.
    It also won the first prize ribbon at the Begonia Show in California where on display were flowers of various species belonging to the begonia family cultivated by at least 60 flower production units and organizations, horticulturists and flower lovers. Kimjongilia was formally registered as new variety No. 991 by the unanimous approval of the jury of the show.

    Kimjongilia is now being rapidly propagated in at least 60 countries to be loved by hundreds of millions of people around the world.

Chairman of 13th-term Hanchongryon Elected in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- An extraordinary meeting of deputies to the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) was held at Kyunghee University in Seoul with an attendance of over 1,000 students under Hanchongryon between Jan. 28 and 29, according to a news report. Song Hyo Won, chairwoman of the General Student Council of Hongik University, was elected chairwoman of the 13th-term Hanchongryon and Kim Ji Ha, chairman of the General Student Council of Kwangwoon University, chairman of its National Reunification Committee at the meeting.
    Song in a speech made at the meeting to express her resolution called for making this year the year of the U.S. forces' withdrawal without fail to realize the people's desire for independent reunification. She underscored the need for the general student councils of every university under Hanchongryon to get organized so that they might intensify the anti-U.S. struggle and mobilize all strength and forces for promoting the movement for reunification purposefully.
    A resolution on actions for independent reunification and a special one on actions for campus autonomy were adopted at the meeting.

Mosaic Erected at Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Exhibition

     Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- A mosaic portraying President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il was erected at the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Exhibition. It depicts smiling Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il finding themselves among flowers.
    A ceremony of unveiling the mosaic was held on Tuesday.
    Addressing the ceremony, Kang Nung Su, chairman of the Korean Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Committee, said it was the great honor and pride for the Korean people to see this mosaic portraying the generals of Mt. Paektu erected on the occasion of the auspicious February holiday.
    Since they came into being, immortal flowers Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia are being rapidly propagated to meet the ardent desire of all people attracted by the greatness of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, who performed enormous feats for the country and the revolution, the times and history, the speaker noted, adding:

Congratulations and gifts to Kim Jong Il

     Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il was presented with congratulatory letters and gifts by family members of Chinese related to the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle on the occasion of his birthday (February 16). Congratulatory letters and gifts came from the family of Zhou Wei, daughter of Zhou Baozhong, and the family of Feng Yila, daughter of Feng Zhongyun, and a gift from by Liu Shaohua, daughter of Liu Hanxing. The letters and gifts were conveyed to DPRK Ambassador to China Choe Jin Su by Zhou Wei, Feng Yila and Liu Shaohua on Jan. 27.

U.S. Scheme to Build Its Embassy in Ryongsan Flailed

    Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The United States is going to build its embassy in Ryongsan after announcing that it would transfer its military base there to south of the River Han and return the area to south Korea. This is prompted by its sinister scheme to continue its colonial domination, lording it over the south Korean people. And this is the second act of aggression which is little different from the Japanese imperialists' installment of the building of their "government-general" in the past.
    This is what the Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland says in its information bulletin No. 895 Tuesday as regards the fact that the U.S. has recently pressurized the south Korean authorities to offer 24,000 phyong within the Ryongsan base in Seoul as the new building lot of its embassy.
    From the early 1980s, the bulletin notes, the U.S. chose the site of the Toksu Palace, one of the precious historic and cultural heritages of the Korean nation, as the building lot of its embassy, intending to construct its embassy building and apartment houses for its staff members, but failed to realize its sinister scheme in face of the strong protest of the south Korean people. It left the matter undecided till it chose a vast area more than treble the original embassy building lot within the Ryongsan base.
    Ryongsan in Seoul is a place of disgrace symbolical of the violation of the dignity and sovereignty of the Korean nation by outside forces. It is the place where the Japanese imperialists, during their occupation of Korea, set up the main organs for their colonial rule such as the "government-general" and the command of Japanese troops stationed in Korea and enforced its policy of colonial enslavement against the Korean nation and it is also the very place where the U.S. imperialists, after setting foot in south Korea in place of Japanese imperialism after the liberation of Korea, installed the U.S. Eighth Army Command, the "UN Command", the south Korea-U.S. "Joint Command", etc. for their military occupation and colonial rule.
    The south Korean people from all walks of life should reject the U.S. domination and intervention, build a fiercer flame of struggle for independence against the U.S. to get the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea and, for the present, resolutely shatter the U.S. moves to wrest Ryongsan again.
    The south Korean authorities must stop at once their pro-U.S. submissive act of leaving the inviolable land of the country to the tender mercy of the U.S. imperialist aggressors, facing up to the trend of the times and popular sentiments for independence and reunification.

Young People Urged to Become Shock Force in Building Prosperous Country

     Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The 30th Plenary Meeting of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League was held here on Tuesday, at which tasks facing the youth league organizations to carry through the militant tasks laid down in the joint editorial for this year were discussed. Brought forward at the meeting were tasks and ways for the youth league officials and members to firmly defend the idea of the Party and the leader on the youth movement and their feats in leading it and stand in the van of the general onward march of the Songun revolution as the death-defying corps safeguarding the leader and the shock force in building a prosperous and powerful nation, true to the joint editorial which is a militant banner of the onward march.

Formation of South-North Joint Measure Committee Urged

     Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- A meeting on the current situation of public figures was reportedly held in Seoul on January 28 to inaugurate a south organization for the promotion of the South-North Joint Measure Committee for the Withdrawal of the U.S. Forces. It was recalled at the meeting that major organizations in the north had proposed a general turnout in the fight against the U.S. and, as a practical step, formation of a south-north joint measure committee for the withdrawal of the U.S. forces.
    Noting that the conversion of the movement for the withdrawal of the U.S. forces into one involving the general spheres, the whole region and the masses is an urgent impending task in the movement for national independence, the meeting stressed the need to form the south-north joint measure committee at an early date and build up the main motive power of struggle to this end. An appeal adopted at the meeting called for inaugurating the joint measure committee in a short time and draw the whole nation into the anti-U.S. movement for national reunification so as to terminate the U.S. domination and military occupation and open wide a new era of independent reunification.
    The pullout of the U.S. forces is not the demand of a specified organization and a specified class but the fighting task of the whole nation, the appeal said, proposing to hold a meeting on the situation bringing together all the anti-American patriotic figures of different circles in February with a view to making 2005 the year of the withdrawal of the U.S. forces.

Japanfs Plot to Scrap DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration Blasted

     Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The Japanese government is now contemplating a tightened greport and information system on remittance to north Korea and taking out money to it" as part of economic sanctions against the DPRK over the gissue of abductees whose fate remains unknown." In this regard Rodong Sinmun today says in a signed commentary:
    The Japanese reactionaries, not content with raising a hue and cry over the gissue of abductees" which had already been settled, raised even "the issue of false remains," a sheer fiction, in a bid to escalate their campaign for sanctions against the DPRK. This anti-DPRK hysteria diametrically runs counter to the present international environment and atmosphere and a deliberate and premeditated vicious plot to scrap the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration in which both sides promised to observe international law and refrain from any act of threatening each other's security.
    Recalling the fact that whenever an opportunity presented itself, the Japanese reactionaries threatened to take gadditional measuresh and apply geconomic sanctionsh against the DPRK if it does not meet their demands, the commentary goes on:
    The DPRK has already clarified more than once that it would regard any sanctions as a declaration of a war against it and take legitimate self-defence measures to cope with them.
    Defying this warning, the Japanese reactionaries do not hide their intention to take a measure for sanctions against the DPRK. This is nothing but a reckless and extremely provocative act to unilaterally and completely nullify the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration and push the DPRK-Japan relations of confrontation to an explosive point. If the Japanese reactionaries calculate that they can achieve their sinister aim by further straining the relations with the DPRK through sanctions, not away from their viewpoint dating back to the old era, nothing will be more naive and foolish calculation than this.
    The army and people of the DPRK are becoming increasingly assertive that it should not deal with Japan any longer, disgusted with its perfidious and despicable attitude. The DPRK is set to decisively counter Japanfs moves to apply more sanctions against it with a strong physical measure.

Meeting for General March of Songun Revolution Opens

     Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- A meeting for the general march of the Songun revolution, the first of its kind in Korea, was opened at the 6,000-seater theatre of the April 25 House of Culture here today. The meeting will discuss the matters arising in strikingly demonstrating the greatness and invincible might of the Songun idea and politics of the Workers' Party of Korea and encouraging the army and people in their new general march in the era of Songun.
    The general march of the Songun revolution is a great onward movement in the present times to attain a high goal of building a great prosperous powerful nation in all fields, political, military, economic and cultural, under the banner of the Juche idea, the banner of the Songun idea.
    At the meeting, Kim Yong Nam, member of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, conveyed a congratulatory message of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the WPK to its participants.
    The message highly estimated the achievements the army and the people of the DPRK have made in defending socialism and building a great prosperous powerful nation by resolutely smashing the U.S. imperialists' moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK, true to the Songun leadership of the WPK.

    Pak Pong Ju, premier of the Cabinet, said in his report at the meeting that the present general march of the Songun revolution is a revolutionary all-out offensive of the army and people in the DPRK to finally conclude the confrontation with the U.S. and win a final victory in the struggle to protect socialism.
    The reality shows that though the U.S. imperialists are talking about "dialogue" and "negotiations," they have, in fact, no intention to give up their attempt to isolate and stifle the DPRK and co-exist with it in peace, but persistently seek to disarm it and bring down its system at any cost, he said, and went on:
    We should, therefore, counter the U.S. imperialists' moves for aggression with a decisive and merciless military strike, its political and diplomatic pressure with the toughest counter-action, its reactionary ideological and cultural poisoning with a revolutionary ideological offensive and its economic blockade with an overall revitalization of the socialist independent economy and a great revolutionary surge and thus victoriously conclude the struggle to defend socialism. Herein lies the great significance of the general march of the Songun revolution.
    He further said:
    All the Party members, servicepersons and people should firmly arm themselves with the Songun idea of the WPK and become ardent adherents to this idea, who think and act, guided by it, staunch defenders of the Songun policy and faithful implementers of the Songun revolutionary line.
    They should deeply trust leader Kim Jong Il only and unite closer around him and make the spirit and trait of the single-minded unity perfectly prevail throughout the society while decisively combating the enemy's vicious psychological warfare aimed at disintegrating our revolutionary ranks.
    All the people should attach importance to the military affairs and earnestly learn them to thoroughly implement the WPK's policy of putting all the people under arms and fortifying the whole country. They should give top priority to the development of the national defence industry in hearty response to the line of economic construction in the Songun era advanced by the WPK and thus make a positive contribution to increasing the nation's military power.
    Underscoring the need to reenergize the national economy as soon as possible and turn it into a modern economy in the 21st century by fully displaying the revolutionary soldier spirit, the reporter called for implementing to the letter the WPK's policy of the agricultural revolution, in particular, to solve the food problem our own way at an early date.
    It is also necessary to make a leaping advance and innovations in the economic construction in the spirit of self-reliance based on uptodate science and technology and make the spirit of the times and the revolutionary optimism and rich emotion of the revolutionary fighters of Songun prevail throughout the society, he noted.

Nakagawa's Jargon Calling Militarist Ghost Flayed

     Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- Chairman of the Commission for Measures on Diet of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan Nakagawa in his TV Fuji appearance on January 16 complained about voices from the economic circles demanding a stop to the prime minister's visits to the "Yasukuni Shrine." Even if temporary economic interests are attained by equivocating about the mode of existence of the state, they might be decried as an economic aggression in a long-range judgment, he blabbed.
    Commenting on this, a Minju Joson analyst Wednesday says:
    By encouraging the prime minister's visits to the "Yasukuni Shrine," such fellows as Nakagawa stand exposed as a group of fanatics steeped in militarist ideas to the marrow of their bones.
    It is their political faith that it is quite all right to totally deny the past history of aggression of the Japanese imperialists and choose to reinvasion, whatever tremendous price it may cost them. They are going to pursue a war of conquest and pillage against other nations as Japan did in the past.
    It is as clear as noonday that their call for visits to the "Yasukuni Shrine" is, in essence, aimed at giving a greater impetus to the militarist moves for overseas expansion.
    It is a vain effort for the Japanese reactionaries to attempt to attain their sinister political purpose with the "Yasukuni Shrine."
    They should lend an ear to the voices of the Asian people against the visits to the "Yasukuni Shrine" and ponder over the political consequences of their unjustifiable acts.

Papers Call for Spurring on General March of Songun Revolution

Syrian Preparatory Committee Formed

     Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- A Syrian preparatory committee was inaugurated in Damascus on Jan. 27 to celebrate the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il (February 16). Wolid Hamdoun, member of the Regional Leadership of Syria's Baath Arab Socialist Party who is chairman of the Syrian Arab-Korea Friendship Association, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee and Abdullah Abu Rish, chairman of the Control Committee of the party, its vice-chairman.
    The preparatory committee decided to organize a seminar, a friendly gathering and other colorful events on the occasion of the February holiday.

Stabilizing Control Workstation of Seesaw-Inverted Pendulum Developed

     Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- Computer Science College of Kim Il Sung University of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has developed a stabilizing control workstation of seesaw-inverted pendulum. Associate Prof. Ri Jun Il of the university said that this is much better than the existing reverse pendulum.
    It, a typical educational experimental apparatus of automatic control system, can be applied to the development and verification of new control theories at universities and research centers in the automatic control field. It also can be introduced to artificial satellites, biped-walking robots, boring machines for prospecting seabed and solving scientific and technological problems arising in economic sectors.
    It was awarded a gold medal at the 8th national invention and new technology exhibition held last year.

New Books Off Press in DPRK

     Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The Literature and Art Publishing House of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has brought out "Frequently Crossing the River Amnok", a collection of scenarios written by a famous writer Paek In Jun. The book is the first volume of the "Collection of Paek In Jun's Scenarios". Edited in the book are the scripts "Flames Spreading over the Land", "The Bodyguard", "Love for the Future ", "Frequently Crossing the River Amnok", "The Sunshine" (two parts) and "Far Away from Headquarters".
    The scenario "Flames Spreading over the Land" deals with activities of indomitable revolutionary fighter Kim Hyong Gwon in Korea and abroad and the others with activities of Kim Jong Suk, a hero of the anti-Japanese war, who made efforts to implement the ideas and orders of President Kim Il Sung during the anti-Japanese armed struggle.
    The publishing house has also issued a collection of historical stories titled "Flames".
    Given in the book are stories about the struggle of the courageous people against outsiders and invasion toward the end of Koryo (918-1392), the first unified state of Korea.

Intensified Pro-reunification Activities

     Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- It is the unanimous will of the entire Korean people to force U.S. troops out of south Korea and achieve the independent reunification of the country in 2005 in which the 60th anniversary of national liberation and the 5th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration fall. It is also a conclusion made by the Korean people through their 60-year-long division of the country that they can never achieve national reunification without putting a period to the U.S. forces' occupation of south Korea.
    The Korean nation, well aware that reunification is not a present to be given by someone, is turning out in the reunification movement.
    The movement has been intensified since the publication of the June 15 declaration.
    In particular, the representatives of various social strata from the north, south and overseas met in Inchon, south Korea, on June 15 to mark the fourth anniversary of the publication of the declaration and called for achieving the country's reunification with great national unity in 2005.
    It has enjoyed a nationwide response.
    In order to extensively conduct activities for national reconciliation, unity and reunification, Pyongyang formed a preparatory committee for joint functions of Koreans in the north, south and overseas for implementing the joint declaration with representatives of the political parties and public organizations of the DPRK in December 2004.
    The joint New Year editorial for this year calls upon the entire Korean nation to realize without fail the three-point cooperation for national independence, peace against war and reunification and patriotism under the idea of "by our nation itself" so as to bring a new phase for the independent reunification and brilliantly adorn the history of the reunification movement in this significant year.
    In south Korea, too, the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front, Reunification Solidarity, Federation of University Student Councils, Confederation of Trade Unions, People's Movement for the Withdrawal of the U.S. Troops and other organizations issued statements, resolutions and appeals. Plan for Tactical Exercise of S. Korean Army in Bitter Cold Announced

     Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The "Metropolitan Garrison Command" of the south Korean army announced that its units' tactical exercise in the depth of winter would be launched near Mt. Kwanak in Seoul on Jan. 31 under the simulated conditions of repelling the infiltration of some forces, according to KBS of south Korea. The drill which will last till Feb. 4 will reportedly involve the firing of blank shells, helicopter mobile and search exercises, ambush, etc.

     Pyongyang, 31 de enero (ATCC) -- Segun el sitio Web del Internet "Frente de Salvacion Nacional", en estos dias, las autoridades judiciales y fiscales del Sur de Corea maniobran para eliminar a los "parlamentarios" pertenecientes al "Partido Uri" y el Partido de Trabajadores Democraticos. Con respecto al hecho, el portavoz del Frente Democratico Nacional del Sur de Corea (FDNSC) publico el dia 28 una declaracion.
    El pasado 14 de enero, las autoridades judiciales y fiscales del Sur de Corea desaforaron a un "parlamentario" del "Partido Uri" acusandolo de la "violacion de leyes electorales", senala la declaracion y continua:
    Acto seguido, intentan cometer la misma barbarie a otros 11 "asambleistas" por el mismo partido y 2 del Partido de Trabajadores Democraticos criminandolos injustamente por varios cargos.
    Este premeditado golpe de estado politico que se desarrolla bajo la manipulacion trasera de EE.UU. es para convertir la actual "Asamblea Nacional" de mayoria del partido gobernante en la de mayoria del opositor y favorecer al "Partido Hannara" a arrebatar el "poder" en las proximas elecciones presidenciales.
    Las autoridades de la justicia y la fiscalia emplearon viles artificios de todo tipo a fin de buscar un pretexto para eliminar a dichos "parlamentarios" y a su vez, el "Partido Hannara", connotada agrupacion por su obstinado rechazo a la abolicion de la "ley de seguridad", no vacilo en intentar excluir de la "Asamblea Nacional" a un "parlamentario" del "Partido Uri" acusandolo de "espia".
    Si las fuerzas conservadoras ultraderechistas lideradas por el "Partido Hannara" logran conseguir la mayoria en la "Asamblea Nacional", persistira un caos en esta por las brutales acciones sin precedentes por parte de esta agrupacion fascista y se resucitara la dominacion fascista igual a la del periodo de la dictadura militar del pasado. Ademas, las relaciones intercoreanas seran revertidas a la epoca de confrontacion y la Peninsula Coreana sufrira desastres de la guerra nuclear. Asimismo se crearan obstaculos en la ejecucion de la historica Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio y se dificultaran la paz y la reunificacion de la Peninsula Coreana.
    Todos los partidos, agrupaciones y estratos de esta tierra patria que aprecian el porvenir de la nacion coreana deben frustrar tajantemente las maniobras del "Partido Hannara" y otras fuerzas conservadoras pro-yanquis encaminadas a senorear otra vez en la "Asamblea Nacional" y arrebatar el "poder" bajo la manipulacion de EE.UU., y levantarse con audacia en la lucha por excluirlos por completo del escenario politico.

Japon nunca podra ocultar su pasado criminal

     Pyongyang, 31 de enero (ATCC) -- Hace algunos dias, fue revelada una nueva "carta confidencial" del emperador Kojong que denuncia a la sociedad internacional lo injusto del "Tratado de 5 puntos de Ulsa (1905)". Esta misiva secreta con la selladura del emperador Kojong transcribe fielmente su posicion de no transferir a Japon la soberania de Corea y deja en claro que el no ha firmado dicho tratado.
    Con respecto a esto, el diario Rodong Sinmun inserto en su edicion del dia 31 un comentario individual que senala como sigue:
    La ilegalidad y falsedad del "Tratado", inventado a punta de bayonetas por los imperialistas japoneses, radican en la fragua unilateral de un documento fraudulento sin la firma ni el sello estatal, requisitos claves para la entrada en vigor de los tratados. Peor aun, al ver que Kojong, maximo representante del gobierno feudal de la dinastia de los Ri de aquel entonces, se oponia invariablemente a dicho tratado, los muy astutos y siniestros imperialistas japoneses hurtaron el sello del entonces ministro de Relaciones Exteriores y lo estamparon a su albedrio en el documento falsificado. Al cabo de estas acciones atrevidas y sucias, muy distantes de las formalidades y costumbres protocolares, movilizaron hasta las fuerzas armadas para inventar por la fuerza tal tratado leonino.
    Tomandolo por su base legal, los imperialistas japoneses perpetraron la dominacion militar sobre Corea durante mas de 40 anos imponiendo incontables desgracias, sufrimientos y perdidas espirituales y materiales.
    Puesto que se esclarecio el fraudulento proceso de la fabricacion unilateral de dicho tratado, Japon ya no puede justificar por mas tiempo su pasada historia de agresion a Corea y dominacion militar sobre Corea.
    Pese a que se avecina el 60 aniversario de la derrota de los imperialistas japoneses en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, este pais isla todavia no ha purgado sus crimenes del pasado.
    El ejercito y el pueblo de Corea ajustaran la cuenta de estos crimenes hasta el final y haran anicos las maniobras de nueva agresion de los militaristas japoneses.
