Song Jeering at NSL in S. Korea

Pyongyang, January 10 (KCNA) -- A south Korean popular musician Yun Min Sok recently created a song ridiculing the "National Security Law" (NSL), according to MBC of south Korea. He published the song "Go to Pyongyang" through the Internet Song site which says: "Go to Pyongyang, if you feel it hard to eke out a living. There you will find people living in smile, though things are difficult."
In light of the NSL its composer would be a violator of the law on incitement and encouragement of infiltration into "the anti-state organization" and escape from south Korea, propaganda and praise of the organization, he said, hoping that he would be the last victim to the NSL, the evil law of the era.

Rodong Sinmun Calls for Vigorous General March This Year

Pyongyang, January 10 (KCNA) -- We should powerfully accelerate the onward march in the new year with the pride of victors so as to glorify this significant year as a year of a great turn noteworthy in the history of the country, a year of a great revolutionary upswing in the 21st century, says Rodong Sinmun in an editorial Monday. It further says:
The general onward march today is worthy endeavours to open a period of a new great surge in the Korean revolution on the basis of the great victory won under the banner of Songun.
It is the resolution and will of the Workers' Party of Korea to bring a new great revolutionary upswing with the general mobilization of all political and ideological, and military and economic potentials of the country which have been accumulated under the banner of Songun and thereby effect a decisive turn in the economic construction and the improvement of people's living standard and grandly celebrate the 60th anniversaries of the WPK and the liberation of the country as great festivals of proud victors.
All the party members and other working people should vigorously accelerate the general onward march this year with the high pride and faith of the victors in the Songun revolution and thus brilliantly adorn the year as a historical year of dramatic significance in the development of the WPK and the Korean revolution and the most fruitful year in which the people will overflow with joy and the whole country will be astir.
The might of the single-minded unity of tens of millions of soldiers and people around the headquarters of revolution should be forcefully displayed.
The secret of victory in the revolutionary surge today lies in all cases in the full display of the revolutionary soldier spirit.
The economic potentials available should be enlisted without reserve in all domains and units and the scientists and technicians should devote all their wisdom and zeal to the solution of scientific and technological problems standing urgent in bringing a new turn in the economic construction and the improvement of people's living standard.

Rally of Agricultural Workers Held

Anak, January 9 (KCNA) -- The agricultural workers are called upon to devotedly work to reap a bumper harvest this year with high civic awareness of taking charge of the main front of socialist economic construction. This call was contained in an appeal to the agricultural workers across the country adopted at a rally of agricultural workers held in Anak County, South Hwanghae Province, on Jan. 9 to carry out the militant tasks set out in the joint New Year editorial. The appeal strongly called upon all the agricultural workers to become ardent patriots and peasant heroes in the Songun era, who faithfully uphold the Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il with grain.
Kang Chang Uk, chairman of the C.C., the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea, delivered a report at the rally to be followed by speeches. The reporter and speakers said that it was the unanimous will of all the agricultural workers to bring about a new revolutionary surge with the might of Songun and greet the 60th anniversaries of the Workers' Party of Korea and the liberation of the country as great festivals of proud victors, stressing the need to make all efforts and mobilize all forces for doing farming well this year.
Among those present was Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the C.C., the WPK.

Joint New Year Editorial Supported

Pyongyang, January 10 (KCNA) -- The British Association for the Study of Songun Policy and the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea released a joint statement on Jan. 2 in support of the joint editorial of Rodong Sinmun, Josoninmingun and Chongnyonjonwi, the leading newspapers of the DPRK. The joint editorial titled "Let the Whole Party and Army and All the People Unite as One in Mind and More Strikingly Demonstrate the Might of Songun!" greatly encourages all the followers of the Juche idea and the Songun idea in the world as it indicates the road of independence, the statement said, and continued:
The joint editorial called for significantly commemorating the 60th anniversaries of the Workers' Party of Korea and the liberation of Korea this year.
All the followers of the Juche idea and Songun idea in the world will also mark these days with splendor.
We call upon them to fully support the Korean people in their drive to more strikingly demonstrate the might of Songun.
The Ugandan National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, the Uganda-DPRK Friendship Association, the Ugandan National Youth Council and the Ugandan National Women's Council also issued a joint statement on the same day in support of the joint editorial.
The statement expressed belief that under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il the people of the DPRK would foil the U.S. moves to stifle the DPRK and successfully carry out the tasks set out in the joint editorial.

Group Running Marks Day of Sports

Pyongyang, January 10 (KCNA) -- Streets of Pyongyang Sunday hummed with the running of groups of officials and employees of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Metal and Machine-Building Industries, the Ministry of Light Industry, the Academy of Social Sciences and other ministries and national institutions on the occasion of the First Day of Sports in this significant year. The second Sunday every month is observed as the Day of Sports in the DPRK.
The runners left Kim Il Sung Square in the heart of the city for Kim Il Sung Stadium and passed through streets, shouting slogans "Single-minded unity", "Devoted protection of the leader" and "Implementation of the leader's instructions in a do-or-die spirit."
This running put impetus to the high-pitched drive of the Pyongyangites to carry out the tasks set out in the joint New Year editorial.
Similar running took place in all provinces, cities and counties.

Ostrich-like Act of S. Korean Authorities Flailed

Pyongyang, January 10 (KCNA) -- It is said that in the "defense white paper" expected to be published this month in south Korea after its suspension from the year 2000, the phraseology "principal enemy" indicating the north will be struck out and be replaced with the words "direct and biggest threat." Commenting on this, a Rodong Sinmun analyst Monday says: This is an anti-national and anti-reunification act which is extremely hostile to the north, the dialogue partner and same nation, and this clearly proves that the south Korean authorities are swimming against the era of the June 15 joint declaration, not awakened from the nightmare of confrontation and war with the fellow countrymen.
These words are little different from the "principal enemy". The phraseology "principal enemy" can no more be allowed in the June 15 era for reunification in which the idea of "By our nation itself" is dominant. That is why the whole nation strongly demanded its renunciation. This compelled the south Korean military authorities to hold off the publication of "defense white paper" for several years. They, however, are seeking to maintain the concept of "principal enemy" in practice by replacing it with the words "biggest threat", far from rooting it out. This is an act of perfidy against the nation, denying national cooperation and challenging point-blank the June 15 joint declaration, which reminds us of an ostrich with its head buried in the sand.
If the south Korean authorities designate the north as the "biggest threat" in the expected "defense white paper", it will be an act of denying the nation of the same blood and dialogue with them and it will be as good as announcing the renunciation of the June 15 joint declaration.
The south Korean authorities should unconditionally give up the planned publication of the "defense white paper" hostile to the fellow countrymen and pursuant to confrontation, mindful of the grave consequences to be entailed by its publication.

Cooperation for Peace against War Called for

Pyongyang, January 10 (KCNA) -- Cooperation for peace against war is an important part of the three forms of cooperation which the Koreans should achieve in the movement for national reunification this year, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. It goes on: Realizing effective cooperation for peace against war guarantees a victory in the urgent anti-U.S. struggle of the Korean nation for defending peace.
This struggle represents a task common to every Korean.
All the fellow countrymen in the north, the south and overseas should come out in the struggle as one to decisively shatter the moves of the U.S. to stifle the north and provoke a war of aggression against it and lift their voices condemning the U.S. in order to protect the destiny of the country and the nation and themselves.
The Korean nation is sure to triumph as there are an invincible army of Songun and the 70 million Koreans who set store by the destiny of the nation more than anything else and are replete with the ardent patriotic will to reunify the country without fail.
All Koreans in the north, the south and overseas should wage a bold struggle for cooperation for peace against war in order to make greater progress in the drive to accomplish the cause of the independent and peaceful reunification of the country this significant year, which marks the 60th anniversaries of the liberation of the country and the fifth anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration.

U.S. Move to Build Unipolar World Bound to Go Bust

Pyongyang, January 10 (KCNA) -- Those countries and people that desire a multipolar world and independence should intensify their struggle to check and frustrate the U.S. policy for a unipolar world, well aware of its reactionary and dangerous nature. The U.S. move to build a unipolar world is bound to go bust when the world progressive people energetically wage a joint struggle. Rodong Sinmun Monday says this in a signed article in connection with the voices of the world public getting more cautious about the U.S. unilateralism and arbitrary practices.
    The article goes on:
The U.S. is becoming crafty in its moves to cover its ambition to build a unipolar world dominated by it with a veil of "democracy." But this is futile because it is an essential demand for achieving the human cause of independence and the main trend of the present times for the world to head for multipolarization.
The arrogant moves of the U.S. to build a unipolar world are now creating a lot of complicating problems in the international arena and triggering off contradiction, confrontation and clash in the international relations. The U.S. invaded and occupied Iraq in a bid to put it under its control as it is of great economic and strategic importance and expand the sphere of its domination over the Arab world, Asia and Africa.
If the above-said U.S. move is allowed, it will result in overturning the basis of international law, to say nothing of the development of human civilization, and bring mankind the greatest sufferings and misfortune in its history.
The reality raises it as an urgent task common to humankind to smash the U.S. policy of unilateralism and hegemony as it seriously threatens the development of human civilization in the new century and world peace and stability.
The U.S. should never be allowed to build a unipolar world as it goes against the desire of humankind and the trend of the times in the 21st century.
The international situation remains complicated and the balance of forces is seriously intertwined, but the struggle of the people for independence against domination and subjugation is getting further intensified day by day.
The U.S. is becoming desperate in its moves to dampen the desire of the world progressive people for independence and arrest their struggle and realize its ambition for domination, but with nothing can it stem the main trend of the times towards independence.

Pyongyang, January 10 (KCNA) -- The list of ten best players of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in Juche 93 (2004) was made public. They proved successful in national and international tournaments last year.
    The ten best players are:

DPRK's Invariable Reply

Pyongyang, January 10 (KCNA) -- Goodwill with goodwill, hard line policy with tougher measures and "punishment" with severe punishment -- This is the invariable answer of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The Korean people have always emerged victorious in the wars and confrontation with formidable imperialist enemies under the leadership of the brilliant commanders of Mt. Paektu.
Under the guidance of President Kim Il Sung, the first generation of the Korean revolution, on the revolutionary principle of arms with arms and blood with blood, accomplished the historical cause of national liberation through the long and hard-fought war against the Japanese imperialists armed to the teeth.
It is unthinkable apart from the President's wise leadership and Juche-oriented, tough countermeasures that the Korean people won victory in the Korean war (from June 1950 to July 1953) against the U.S. imperialists who had boasted of being the "strongest" in the world.
In the postwar period, the U.S. continued provoking such incidents as Pueblo, spy plane EC-121 and Panmunjom cases to bring the situation on the Korean peninsula to the brink of war. Each time, however, it could not but drink a bitter cup of water.
The tradition of tougher counter-action established in the anti-Japanese war has been carried forward by leader Kim Jong Il.
In the 1990s the DPRK, with such tougher stand, frustrated the wicked plan of the U.S. to completely disarm it and unleash a nuclear war under the pretext of "nuclear suspicion" and exposed in all nakedness the falsity of its allegation that the DPRK would "collapse within three years" and "within five years".
The Bush administration, calling the DPRK a part of "axis of evil", designated it as a target of nuclear attack. The U.S. ruptured the DPRK-U.S Agreed Framework and replied to the DPRK's efforts for a DPRK-U.S. non-aggression treaty with "blockade", threat of "military punishment" and arrogant stand that it might have contact but no negotiations with the DPRK.
And it set the International Atomic Energy Agency in motion to internationalize the campaign to stifle the DPRK.
The DPRK government thwarted such moves of the U.S. with the statement dated January 10, 2003 on its withdrawal from the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty.
The Korean peninsula still remains the most dangerous hot spot in the world.

Gift to Kim Jong Il

Pyongyang, January 10 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il was presented with a gift by Kenichi Ogami, secretary general of the International Institute of the Juche Idea, and his party on a visit to the DPRK. The gift was conveyed to an official concerned by the secretary general.

On hand was Kim Kye Gwan, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs.
DPRK Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun also met them on the same day.
    Officials concerned were present there.
