Settlement of Japan's Past Crimes Brooks No Further Delay

     Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- The past history of Japan is characterized by continental aggression and plunder to destroy other countries and nations and gratify its insatiable greed for expansion and that history is full of the most hideous crimes ever known against humanity including Koreans and many other Asian peoples, observes Minju Joson Friday in a signed commentary. It goes on:
    It is historical shame on Japan that it has not yet settled its past crimes although it is nearly 60 years since the defeat of the Japanese imperialists. All the successive governments of Japan have approached its past crimes with very improper attitude and doggedly shied away from their settlement.
    The Japanese reactionaries' shameless attempts to cover up Japan's crime-woven history and repeat it are a very serious criminal act of adding a bigger crime to what it had already committed.
    It is only Japan which has not yet shaken off the disgraceful name of an "enemy state" in the international arena and it is for this reason that many countries in Asia and other parts of the world are turning their vigilant eyes to Japan.
    The Japanese government's moves to take a permanent seat in the U.N. Security Council with a voluble talk about its contribution to the United Nations have aroused deep concern and skepticism from the international community.
    What is most urgent for the Japanese government at present is to settle Japan's past wrongs as early as possible and wipe the slate clean if it truly wishes to be a respected member of the international community.
    Without the settlement of its past wrongs, it would be impossible for Japan to regain the confidence of the international community. This settlement is not for others but for Japan itself. So, the sooner, the better.
    The Japanese government should face up to the reality and come out to settle its past crimes as quickly as possible.

Computerized Machine to Weigh 100 ton-Freight Wagon Developed

     Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- Kim Chaek University of Technology succeeded in developing a new indigenous type of computerized machine to weigh a 100 ton-freight wagon in a dynamic state. The existing machines capable of weighing freight wagons in stationery state only have created not a few difficulties to the ore and coal mines handling a lot of heavy duty freight wagons.
    In order to solve this problem, teachers and researchers of the Department of Mining Engineering of the university launched in real earnest a research into a computerized machine to weigh a 100 ton-freight wagon two years back.
    Only a few countries are known to have a monopoly of the production of this type of weighing machines. But they buckled down to this research with persevering efforts and finally succeeded in manufacturing electronic devices based on high technology and precision on their own.
    The weighing machine was finally tested at the weighing site of the February 8 Jiktong Youth Coal Mine recently.
    Each time a freight wagon slowly rolled past the site, the results of its weighing displayed on the computer proved accurate.
    The introduction of this weighing machine made it possible to cut down the manpower at the weighing site to one operator from at least 10 people.

NDFSK Vice-Chairman Supports New Year Editorial

     Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- The vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of south Korea (NDFSK) on Jan. 3 released a statement in support of the joint editorial of Rodong Sinmun, Josoninmingun and Chongnyonjonwi, according to Kuguk Jonson Internet site. The tasks facing the movement for national reunification set forth in the joint editorial of the north are the co-ordinates for actions which all the fellow countrymen should hold fast to and implement without fail this year, the statement said, and went on:
    The people from all walks of life should turn out as one in the struggle to put an end to the U.S. military presence and domination and defend national sovereignty and dignity. They should, at the same time, exert all efforts to frustrate "cooperation" with outside forces and achieve the country's reunification by the concerted efforts of the nation.
    All the patriotic people should strongly oppose and reject the U.S. hostile policy towards the north and its moves for a war of aggression and conduct a nation-wide struggle for peace against war and the U.S. in order to force the U.S. to withdraw its troops from south Korea to the last man, not "reducing" them.
    The NDFSK will join all the patriotic people in opposing and rejecting any acts against the nation and reunification such as shunning the joint declaration and going against it and launch an indomitable struggle to defend and implement the historic declaration.
    This year our people will unanimously support and defend the Songun politics of the north, a treasured sword for national defence and a key to fully ensuring happiness, always remembering the days they have spent in peace, demonstrating national dignity under the protection of Songun.

Youth Urged to Display Their Mettle

     Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- An appeal to the young vanguard of five million across the country was adopted at a meeting of young vanguard held at Jonsung Square Thursday to vow to thoroughly fulfill the tasks put forward in the joint New Year editorial. The appeal earnestly calls upon the members of the youth league and young people all over the country to demonstrate the mettle of the youth of Songun Korea once again to the whole world by working dramatic miracles and feats in the general onward march of the Songun revolution this year.
    The youth and students should take the van in bringing into fuller blossom the revolutionary traits of our society in which leader Kim Jong Il is held in high esteem as father, cherishing the unshakable belief that our leader is best and the line and policies of the Workers' Party of Korea are most valid and the revolutionary philosophy that one-minded unity with the headquarters of the revolution and socialism are an immortal community of destiny, the appeal says, and goes on:
    The young people should take the lead in barring reactionary ideological viruses and the corrupt bourgeois way of life from infiltrating into our society and making it overflow with revolutionary soldier culture in the Songun era.
    The youth league organizations at all levels should be firmly built up and their militant functions and roles enhanced to powerfully rouse the young men and women in a new great revolutionary surge so as to contribute to bringing prosperity to the country and grandly celebrating the 60th anniversaries of the Workers' Party of Korea and the liberation of the country as grand festivals of victors, the appeal says.
    Kim Kyong Ho, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, made a report at the meeting, which was followed by speeches.

Daydream of Japanese Reactionaries Assailed

     Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries are busy working out a "bill" of Japan similar to the "North Korean Human Rights Act" of the U.S. and introducing it to the Diet session slated to take place this month. Rodong Sinmun Friday in a signed commentary brands Japan's impudent move to adopt legislation on "north Korean human rights" as a mockery of genuine human rights and an intolerable insult to the dignified DPRK.
    Referring to the fact that the Japanese reactionaries, steeped in bitter hostility towards the DPRK and dead-set against Korean style socialism, are zealously joining the U.S. in its racket against the DPRK over its "human rights issue" in a bid to realize their ambition to "bring down" the system in the DPRK and re-invade Asia, the commentary goes on:
    Japan lost its right to say anything about human rights long ago as it committed most hideous abuses of human rights in the past by bringing unspeakable misfortune and sufferings to the Koreans and other Asians.
    However, it has refused even to admit those crimes. Japan is one of the worst human rights violators in the world. It is ill-famed for the number of cases of suicide.
    Such being a hard reality, the reactionaries of Japan are joining the U.S. in its smear campaign against the DPRK over its "human rights issue" in an effort to overturn its system. This is, however, nothing but a daydream of the wicked and stupid guys.
    The Japanese reactionaries had better properly understand who their rival is and give up their futile attempt to bring down the system in the DPRK.

Cuban Ambassador Gives Reception

     Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- Cuban Ambassador to the DPRK Ruben Perez Valdes hosted a reception at the Taedonggang Club for the Diplomatic Corps Thursday on the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Cuban revolution. The ambassador said in his speech that the Cuban people would always win victory as they are with the Korean people and People's Army, comrades-in-arms and comrades who have invariably supported and helped them, and, in particular, with Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il.
    Fidel Castro Ruz stresses the need to learn from Korea, the invincible fortress in defending socialist principles, independence and sovereignty from the U.S. imperialists' aggression and threat, the ambassador noted.
    He wished the Korean people greater success in building a great prosperous powerful nation this year.
    Speaking in reply, Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, said the pro-U.S. dictatorship was brought to an end in Cuba 46 years ago and a genuine government of workers and peasants was established. That was an historic event of the birth of the first socialist state in the Western Hemisphere and an epochal turning point in the life of the Cuban people aspiring after an independent life, he added.
    Noting that the fraternal Cuban people today, under the leadership of Fidel Castro Ruz, are honorably defending the country and the gains of the revolution, frustrating at every step the persistent political pressure and sanctions and blockade of the United States, he said the Korean people sincerely hope that the Cuban people would make a bigger advance in the future.
    It is the consistent stand of our Party, government and people to steadily boost the traditional friendly and cooperative relations with socialist Cuba, he said, and stated: The Korean people will as ever advance shoulder to shoulder with the fraternal Cuban people in the cause of defending socialism against imperialism.
    Present at the reception on invitation were Kim Yong Jin, minister of Education who is chairman of the Korea-Cuba Solidarity Committee, Kim Kyong Ho, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, Pak Sun Hui, chairperson of the Central Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union, and Mun Jae Chol, acting chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries.

Kim Jong Il Praised as Brilliant Commander of Century

     Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- The world revolution started with The Internationale will surely end in victory with "Song of General Kim Jong Il." Dipak Sharma, chairman of the Nepalese Young Poets' Forum, says this in his poem "Brilliant Commander of the Century" praising Kim Jong Il.
    In the poem he says socialism of the DPRK is an impregnable fortress as it is led by the illustrious commander born of Heaven, though the arrogant imperialists are shouting themselves hoarse about "the end of socialism" while resorting to persistent pressure and blockade.
    There are many countries in the world and they have huge armies, but no army has such a great commander as the Korean People's Army has, he says, and continues: Even the army, which had once boasted of its invincible might, could not save the party breathing its last and the country collapsing as it was not led by a great brilliant commander.
    He praises Kim Jong Il as the defender of eternal happiness and peace who clears away the dark clouds of war hanging over the planet and the brilliant commander of the century the mere mention of whose name makes a formidable enemy millions strong tremble.

U.S., Malicious Harasser of Peace and Independent Reunification of Korea

     Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- The desire of the Korean nation for reunification and prosperity will never come true as long as the U.S. imperialists keep south Korea under its military occupation and, with it as the base, pursue a hostile policy toward the DPRK, states a Rodong Sinmun analyst Friday. He goes on:
    The U.S. has worked out an extremely dangerous nuclear war scenario envisaging the use of 30 nukes in case of "contingency" on the Korean Peninsula and is massively shipping into south Korea up-to-date weapons and combat equipment it claimed to have been tested in the Iraqi and Afghan wars or newly developed, while staging an unbroken chain of war games targeted against the north. This gravely threatens the peace and security of the Korean Peninsula and has led the inter-Korean relations to a frustration and stalemate.
    No less undisguised have been its interference and obstructions to drive to breakdown economic cooperation between the Koreans while inciting inter-Korean confrontation. In desperately throwing snags in the way of inter-Korean economic cooperation which is desired and demanded by all the Koreans, the United States seeks a sinister intention to do harm to the common prosperity and interests of the Korean nation and send a reverse stream to the development of inter-Korean relations and the process of reconciliation.
    The withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea is prerequisite to peace, security and reunification of the Korean Peninsula. Only when the Korean nation forces the U.S. troops out of south Korea and thwarts the U.S. imperialists' interference in its internal affairs and obstructions can it advance the era of independent reunification and win final victory in the cause of reunification.

Agricultural Working People in Van of General Onward March of Songun Revolution

     Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- The agricultural working people, who are in charge of the main front of socialist economic construction this year, are vigorously turning out in the general onward march of Songun revolution in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea under the slogan "Let the Whole Party and Army and All the People Unite as One in Mind and More Strikingly Demonstrate the Might of Songun!", put forth by the New Year's joint editorial. They, full of the firm determination to make a great surge in production as they did in the period of the Chollima upsurge in 1950s, are giving full play to their patriotic enthusiasm in the farm-work from the beginning of the year.
    Those in Jaeryong, Anak, Pyoksong and other counties in South Hwanghae Province brought out to fields more than 200,000 tons of compost on Jan. 3 alone and those of coop farms in Jongju City, North Phyongan Province, and Hwangju County, North Hwanghae Province, are turning out large quantities of quality bio-compost.
    Ryanggang and Jagang Provinces are introducing the Taehongdan-style scientific farming method to bring about a great turn in potato farming. And Thaethan County in South Hwanghae Province and Taegwan County in North Phyongan Province are making full preparations to do two-crop and bean farming well so as to reap a bumper crop this year.
    Meanwhile, the constructors of the Paekma-Cholsan Waterway project, who are well aware that natural-flow irrigation is key to increased agricultural production, are registering signal successes in such projects as Paekma reservoir, aqueduct tunnels and open-air water channels every day.
    A nation-wide help to the countryside is being conducted dynamically. On the third of this month, Pyongyang sent 11,980 tons of compost and over 122,700 pieces of small farm- implements of 23 kinds and North Hwanghae Province more than 150,000 tons of compost and over 210,000 pieces of middle and small farm-implements of 147 kinds.

Long-Wave Infrared Ray Radiation Paint Developed

     Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- The Building-materials Institute under the Paektusan Architectural Center of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has succeeded in developing long-wave infrared ray radiation paint efficacious for the treatment of diseases. In an interview with KCNA, director of the institute Ri Tok Ho said the clinical test proves that the paint, made of natural mineral powder and various nontoxic substances abundant in the country, gives no harmful effect to the human body.
    It is good for the recovery from fatigue, treatment of diseases and saving of heat energy. It can be coated on concrete wall, wood, iron sheets and stone materials including interior walls of steam bathhouse, physical treatment room and drying room and the floor for heating.
    The solid membrane of the painting, with porous sponge structure, absorbs and kills germs and removes various bad smell, thus keeping steam bathhouses hygienic.
    The serviceable life of the painting is five years at minimum. The wave band of long-wave infrared ray radiated by the painting is 8-12 micrometers and its radiation rate is 93-95 percent.
    The long-wave infrared rays help the sauna bathers perspire without feeling heart suffocation and breathing trouble even under the temperature above 100 degrees centigrade.
    It, therefore, is potent for the cure of heart diseases, neuralgia, skin disorders, circulatory sicknesses, women's troubles such as postpartum diseases, sterility and disorders of menstruation, waist pains, bone fracture and other diseases.
    Its production cost is very low as it is simple to make.

Embajador de Cuba ofrece banquete

     Pyongyang, 7 de enero (ATCC) -- Con motivo del 46 aniversario del triunfo de la Revolucion Cubana, el embajador extraordinario y plenipotenciario de la Republica de Cuba en Corea, Ruben Perez Valdes, preparo el dia 6 una recepcion en el Club Taedonggang para el Cuerpo Diplomatico. En su intervencion, el embajador cubano apunto que el pueblo cubano siempre lograra victorias por contar con el ejercito y el pueblo de Corea, en particular, con el Comandante Supremo del Ejercito Popular de Corea, Kim Jong Il, companeros de armas y camaradas quienes respaldaron y ayudaron en todo momento a los cubanos.
    Destaco que el companero Fidel Castro Ruz subraya la necesidad de seguir el ejemplo de Corea que es un baluarte inexpugnable en la defensa de los principios socialistas, la independencia y la soberania frente a la agresion y amenaza de los imperialistas norteamericanos y deseo al pueblo coreano este ano tambien mayores exitos en la construccion de una gran potencia prospera.

RPDC: Invencion de nueva pintura

     Pyongyang, 7 de enero (ATCC) -- En estos tiempos, en el Instituto de Materiales de Construccion adscrito al Centro de Arquitectura Paektusan se desarrollo una nueva pintura radiactiva de rayos infrarrojos que tiene grandes virtudes en el tratamiento de enfermedades. En opinion de Ri Tok Ho, director del instituto, esta pintura se produjo con la mezcla de minerals naturales pulverizados con otras varias sustancias no toxicas y no reporta reacciones adversas al cuerpo humano, segun experimentos clinicos.
    Esta pintura multiproposita se emplea para reponerse de la fatiga, tratar a los pacientes y ahorrar la energia termica. Puede ser pintada en la pared interior del bano sauna y la sala de terapia fisica, la superficie del hipocausto, el interior de la camara de secado, aparte de la parte exterior de hormigon, madera, laminas de acero y piedras.
    La solida membrana de esta pintura es estructurada por poros esponjosos. Por esta razon, tiene algunos efectos de absorbente y esterilizante de bacterias y sirve de desodorante, caracteristicas que posibilitan mantener optimas condiciones higienicas del bano sauna.
    Su duracion es de 5 anos a lo minimo.
    La intensidad de rayos infrarrojos de 8 - 12 ƒÊm de frecuencia radiados por esta pintura es de 93 a 95 %.
    Por referencia, los rayos infrarrojos aumentan la efectividad de la sauna tanto por encima como por debajo de 100 oC sin que los clientes se sientan algo ahogados o tengan dificultades respiratorias.
    Por lo tanto, tienen especial virtud en el tratamiento de enfermedades cardiacas, neuralgia, pandemias cutaneas y respiratorias, diversos tipos de males ginecologicos, la enfermedad lumbar, fractura de huesos, etc.
    Esta pintura es de fuerte en adhesividad y permeabilidad y de simple en su uso. Cuesta menos su produccion y reporta grandes ganancias netas, gracias a lo cual aumenta su popularidad en el interior y el exterior del pais.
