Kim Jong Il Praised

Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il is a gifted thinker and a great master of leadership, said Ricardo Chavez Gutieres, chairman of the National Executive Committee of the Mexican Communist Party, addressing round-table talks sponsored by the party on Nov. 20 on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army. Kim Jong Il has defended socialism and pushed forward the building of a great prosperous powerful nation with Songun politics in reliance upon the army, he noted, adding: This leadership method is just and unique. Socialism cannot be defended without firmly relying on the army under the present situation.

S. Korean Authorities' Ban on Internet Site Operation Assailed

Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the Korean Journalists Union in a statement on Thursday accused the south Korean authorities of disconnecting those Internet sites they claim to be "pro-north". This fully lays bare their sinister intention to totally deny the basic spirit of the June 15 joint declaration and bring the north-south relations to those in the old era of confrontation, he noted, and went on: The south Korean authorities are now talking about the improvement of the inter-Korean relations, while defaming and denying the idea and system in the north and cutting off even the Internet connection between the north and the south in utter disregard of the spirit of the joint declaration. This is self-contradictory and nonsensical.
The south Korean authorities should immediately stop their moves for confrontation with the north such as the action to disconnect Internet sites, bearing deep in mind that south Korea is the only politically underdeveloped area where Internet communications are cut off in this IT age, the only tundra of human rights in the world in this century where human freedom and rights are seriously abused.
If they persist in their tyrannical acts against reunification and democracy despite repeated warnings, the north will consider this as an action to bring the inter-Korean relations to a total collapse and they will be held entirely accountable for the ensuing serious consequences.

U.S. Imperialists' Anti-Socialist Strategy Flailed

Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists are well advised to halt their futile moves to bring down the DPRK, clearly understanding the high ideological and moral awareness of the army and people of the DPRK and their steadfast faith and will. Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a signed article. It goes on:
One of the key methods the U.S. imperialists employ in their operations against socialism at present is to destabilize it. It is their invariable strategy to destroy socialism. Violence as well as such destabilizing moves as psychological warfare are the key method of aggression used by them at present.
They are keen to apply such crafty method to the DPRK. This is evinced by their desperate efforts to massively smuggle transistors, micro TV sets, etc. into the DPRK in a bid to break the unity in mind and destabilize and degenerate its society. Their great efforts are channeled into their nuclear blackmail against the DPRK. They are threatening to make a "surprise preemptive strike" at the DPRK's nuclear facilities. They went the lengths of announcing even the number of nuclear weapons to be used against the northern part of Korea. They seem to calculate that their nuclear blackmail will succeed in discouraging the army and people of the DPRK and depriving them of any confidence and getting them disorganized and degenerate, seized with defeatism. This clearly indicates how frantic they have become in their moves to bring down the DPRK, the bulwark of socialism.
It is quite anachronistic for the U.S. imperialists to try to destabilize the DPRK. Its army and people will never be taken in by such their crafty destabilizing operation.

Rally for All-out Struggle for Abolition of NSL Held in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- The "National Alliance for Democracy and Reunification" in south Korea reportedly held a rally in Seoul on November 20 to vow an all-out struggle for the abolition of the "National Security Law". At the rally speakers said that the moves of the Grand National Party and other conservative forces to keep the NSL, talking about the nature of the system, are no more than a trick to deceive the people and that they should not be cajoled by the flattery of the anti-democratic forces.
There is no relevance between the NSL and security, they said, charging that the NSL is an evil law violating democracy.
Blasting the "political coloring" vociferated about by Chosun Ilbo and the misinformation spread by it, they claimed the existence of the newspaper is attributable to the NSL.
A resolution read out at the rally said the NSL is as useless as wire entanglement dividing the nation. It called for abrogating the evil law against reunification, democracy and human rights.
After the rally the participants marched up to the National Assembly building.

Drawing deep interests of the participants were results of scientific and technological researches, among other things, into the characteristics of the sandstorms that had serious effects on the whole area of Korea in recent years, development of devices for measuring their density, use of data from polar-orbit meteorological satellites, assessment of the radioactivity of sandstorms, and relations between visibility and density of yellow sand.

Koryo, First Unified State That Succeeded to Koguryo

Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- Candidate academician, Prof. and Dr. Pak Yong Hae who is working at the History Institute of the Academy of Social Sciences in an article contributed to Rodong Sinmun Friday cites historical facts to prove that Koryo, the first unified state in the history of Korea, succeeded to Koguryo which was a powerful state in the East. Koryo was a feudal state that was founded by its ancestral King Wang Kon in 918 and lasted for nearly 500 years till 1392 with Kaegyong (Kaesong at present) as its capital, the article says, and goes on:
It was admitted as an irrefutable fact at home and abroad in those times and subsequent years that Koryo displayed its grandeur as a unified state succeeding to Koguryo. The Koreans are proud of this fact still today as it is an important matter related to the legitimate history of the nation.
The fact that Koguryo was succeeded by Koryo also finds vivid manifestation in their names of same meaning and similar sound and in the fact that its founding father Wang Kon and not a few generals and soldiers who played pivotal roles in building the country were descendents of ruined people of Koguryo and the main territory of Koryo in the early days of its founding was the old land of Koguryo.
This was recognized as a self-evident truth by neighboring countries in those times and is also evidenced by the fact that Koryo was the first unified state which carried into reality the desire of Koguryo to incorporate the fellow countrymen and their states and it strove all along for its complete materialization throughout its existence.
The army and people of Koryo demonstrated strong and patriotic fighting spirit and bravery just like those of Koguryo in the fight against aggressors. This also shows plainly that Koryo was the successor to Koguryo.
Historical facts testify that Koguryo was a state of the Korean nation both in name and reality and Koryo was a unified state which succeeded to it, the article stresses, stating that Koryo will remain long in the history of the nation as the first unified state of Korea.

Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Thursday sent a message of greetings to Mongolian President Natsagyn Bagabandi on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic in Mongolia. Anti-oxidation, Sterilizing Water Developed

Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- Pyongyang City People's Hospital No. 1 of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is turning out anti-oxidation water and sterilizing water. Associated Professor Kim Yong Mun of the hospital told KCNA that the anti-oxidation water helps prevent aging and cure various diseases as it controls and removes toxic substances growing out of the fermentation of food and metabolism, which facilitate oxidization in human body and cause diseases.
The drinking water keeps a pH of 7.2-8 from thirty minutes after its production. Its clinical test proves that it provides conditions for the habitation of microorganisms in the internal organs, controls the abnormal fermentation of food and promotes improvement of acid constitution.
It is efficacious for diabetes, hypertrophy, asthma, respiratory disorders, gastritis, digestive trouble, constipation, colitis, nephritis, cystitis, uremia, arthritis, heart disease, hypertension, arteriosclerosis, nervous breakdown, insomnia and hepatitis. The sterilizing water has a strong germicidal power to kill pathogenic germs within three minutes. It, odorless, has no bad effect on human body.
It is widely used not only in sterilizing medical apparatuses, kitchen utensils, meat, vegetable and fish but also in treating burns, decubitus, inflammation, bromatoxism, bruise, toothache, dermatitis, tonsillitis and water-eczema.

Metal Bones Widely Used in Medical Treatment

Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- Metal bones are widely used in the surgery of bones including the spine and bone joints in the field of public health of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The metal material used in orthopedics is good in intensity, endurance and shock-resistance and easy to process.
The material is better than 316L steel and Ti steel.
The orthopedic department of the hospital attached to Pyongyang University of Medicine succeeded in surgery of replacing thighbone with artificial one already ten years ago. Since then, it has introduced both heads of thighbone made of this metal in the operation of fracture, osteomyelitis and tumor of thighbone joints.
An Myong Su, a worker of the Pyongyang Silk Mill, told KCNA that he had both heads of his thighbone replaced with artificial ones some years ago but he does not feel any pain even after he walked for hours.

S. Korea's "Cooperative Self-Reliant National Defence Plan" under Fire

Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- The Defence Ministry of south Korea on Nov. 18 made public a "cooperative self-reliant national defence plan" under which south Korea is required to undertake among other things the military duty so far performed by the U.S. imperialist aggression troops in south Korea depending on their "relocation", talking about "future-orientated development of cooperation" with the U.S. A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland in a statement Friday vehemently denounces the plan in the name of the whole Korean nation, terming it a very dangerous military step to put south Korea under the tighter U.S. military control and step up preparations for a war of aggression against the north.
The south Korean authorities disclosed that under the plan south Korea would reorganize the Joint Chiefs of Staff on an expansion basis with a view to strengthening the war execution system, actively push forward research and development in the munitions industry and allocate military spending running into astronomical figures for four years to come, the statement says, and goes on:
The "cooperative self-reliant national defence" on the lips of the south Korean authorities is, in essence, aimed to strengthen the "alliance" with the U.S. and round off their preparations to invade the north.
The south Korean warhawks are whetting their swords for aggression to stifle the north by force of arms, paying lip-service to inter-Korean reconciliation and cooperation. This move against the nation, peace and reunification is as foolish an act as precipitating their own self-destruction.
If they keep to the road of confrontation and war in breach of the June 15 joint declaration, toeing the U.S. line, they will be held entirely accountable for all the ensuing consequences.
