Film Show Held in Peru

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- A Korean film show was held at the Leoncio Prado Military School in Peru on October 29 on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the publication of the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo. The Korean films "Panmunjom" and "Concrete Wall, Symbol of the National Division" were screened at the film show.
Felix Fernandes Torres, secretary general of the Peruvian Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, said after watching the films that the Korean nation artificially divided by foreign forces in 1945 should become one.
President Kim Il Sung put forward the proposal against the background of the separatists' undisguised moves to perpetuate the national division 24 years ago, he recalled, noting that the proposal is the most reasonable one for reunification as it is suited to the realities in Korea where differing ideologies and systems exist in the north and the south.
The committee extends full support and solidarity to the Korean people in their struggle for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country, he added.

Meeting Held by Chongryon in Tokyo

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held by the officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) at the Korean Hall in Tokyo on Nov. 2 to express thanks to leader Kim Jong Il for sending relief fund to the Korean victims of a strong earthquake that hit Chuetsu of Niigata Prefecture, Japan. So Man Sul, chairman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, in a report said that Kim Jong Il sent the Korean victims the precious foreign currency to be spent for the building of a great prosperous powerful nation, taking to heart their sufferings and pain. We'll see to it that the fund will reach the sufferers so that they might lead a normal life as early as possible, he added.
Chongryon will render sincere assistance to the Koreans in the afflicted area as a movement of all its organizations and compatriots in order to help them recover from the damage done by the earthquake in a short span of time and build the area of Chuetsu into a patriotic community of compatriots, he noted.
He appealed to the officials of Chongryon and compatriots to get united close and conduct a more vigorous 8 month-long movement to thoroughly implement the decision made by its 20th Congress and thus register great success in the work for national education and culture and in the service for the compatriots.
    Then followed speeches.
A letter to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.

Proposal for Founding DFRK Favored Abroad

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- Rachmawati Soekarnoputri, chairman of the Indonesia-Korea Association for Friendship and Cultural Exchange, issued a statement on Oct. 7 on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the proposal for establishing the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo. He in the statement referred to details of the proposal advanced by President Kim Il Sung, noting that the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration opened a bright prospect of realizing the proposal.
Today all the Koreans in the north, the south and overseas firmly stand for the cooperation between Koreans, he said, adding that a firm principle and a clear way for Korea's reunification are reflected in the word of national cooperation.
The national cooperation clarified in the joint declaration is recognized as a basic idea of all Koreans' movement for reunification, he noted, urging the U.S. to immediately abandon its hostile policy towards the DPRK.

Groundwork of Taean Friendship Glass Factory in Full Gear

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- The groundwork is going full steam ahead at the Taean Friendship Glass Factory. Builders there are now busy laying foundations of all construction objects, while pushing ahead with the groundwork of the main production building at a final phase.
The builders of the melting shop completed 3,000 cubic meters of concrete placing for its foundation as of the end of October.
The ground concrete work is also making progress at the construction sites of moulding and slow cooling shops.
The builders are striving to wind up the ground concrete work for a circulating water pond, a pumping site and a transformer substation, etc. within this year.

Struggle for Abolition of NSL Called for

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- The Operation Committee of the Solidarity of Youth and Students for Implementing the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration on October 28 reportedly made public an appeal titled "Let youth and students turn out in the struggle for the complete abolition of the National Security Law." It is really deplorable that the NSL, an anti-reunification, anti-national and anti-democratic evil law, remains as it is still now when all the people are aspiring after a new era, new politics and waging a massive struggle for progress and reform, the appeal said, and stressed:
Neither implementation of the June 15 joint declaration, nor inter-Korean reconciliation and cooperation, nor democracy in this land is possible as long as the NSL exists.
Stand for abrogation or defense of the NSL is the criterion distinguishing patriotism from treachery, democracy from fascism. Anyone who loves the nation and the country should come out in the struggle for the complete abolition of the NSL and the youth and students should stand in the van of the struggle.

Anti-GNP Rallies Held in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- Rallies marking the "Day of People's Action for Punishing Grand National Party" were simultaneously held in front of buildings of the GNP in Seoul, Taejon, Kwangju, Pusan, Ulsan, Suwon, Chungju and other areas of south Korea on Oct. 30, according to a news report. Participating in the rally in Seoul were members of civic and public organizations including the People's Solidarity for Abolition of the National Security Law (NSL) and the Seoul Regional Foot March Group for Abolition of the NSL.
Ra Chang Sun, chairman of the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification, said in his speech that although the GNP is now desperately blocking the movement for the abrogation of the NSL and liquidation of the past, it can never stem the violent trend of history. He called for the total abolition of the evil law.
Ri Kyong Su, chairman of the Seoul District Federation of University Student Councils, declared that the leadership of the Central Standing Committee of the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils would call a hunger strike for an indefinite period in front of the National Assembly building from Nov. 2 and the youth and students would surely get the NSL repealed at the risk of their lives.
Jang Su Gyong, executive chairperson of the Anti-U.S. Women's Society, asserted that the abolition of the NSL is aimed to hand a peaceful and reunified country down to the children.
At the end of the rally the participants angrily shouted "Disband the GNP defending the NSL" in front of the GNP building.

Rodong Sinmun Calls for Improving Labor Administration

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Thursday in an editorial says labor administration in socialist society is a work of rousing the idea of the people participating in social labor and building up their creative strength and mobilizing them. Noting that labor administration in socialist society is a work for the popular masses themselves who are the masters of the state and society, the editorial continues:
The essential advantage of Korean-style socialist labor administration lies in that it makes it possible to improve the people's living in a short time by boosting production through the maximum display of the idea and creative zeal of the masses, the ones directly responsible for production, with main stress on their independent demands and interests.
The Workers' Party of Korea was the first in history to expound a unique idea of socialist labor administration with the working masses at the center, placing itself on the principle of the Juche idea, and put forward in principle various questions arising there including policy matters and ideological, theoretical and methodological questions.
Leader Kim Jong Il has given energetic guidance to make labor administration a work for the people and a work for the prosperity of the country. He provided a militant program which should be grasped in labor administration by issuing his historic work "On Further Improving and Strengthening Labor Administration".
It is his undying feat that he has brought into full bloom the flower garden of the revolutionary traits of labor in the whole society in the era of Songun. Under his revolutionary Songun leadership, our people victoriously made the "Arduous March" and the forced march with their creative labor and firmly defended Korean-style socialism, the precious heritage left behind by President Kim Il Sung, inspired by revolutionary optimism reflected in the slogan "Let's Always Be Cheerful Although Our Path Is Thorny".
It is the unshakable faith and will of the Korean people to build the country into a great prosperous powerful socialist nation where everything prospers and the people are as well-off as any other, under the revolutionary Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il, declares the editorial.

S. Korea Urged to Withdraw Military Bases from Historical and Cultural Sites

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- It is an intolerable insult to and mockery of the Korean nation and an act swimming against the trend of the times to keep military bases, U.S. military bases in particular, at sites of historical and cultural interest, treasures common to the nation, says Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a signed commentary. Noting that military setups of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces and the south Korean army are found at eight historical sites in south Korea, the commentary goes on:
There are more than 200 countries and regions in the world, but it is only south Korea which leaves historical and cultural sites, even those spots listed as world cultural heritages, to foreigners as their military bases, not content with installing its own military bases there.
The south Korean flunkeyist traitors who were top-class stooges and war servants of the U.S. imperialists took an active part in the U.S. anti-DPRK moves in disregard of national dignity and interests as they attached more importance to the alliance with the U.S. rather than to the preservation of historical and cultural relics. So they committed such a hideous criminal act of offering historical sites listed as world cultural heritages to the occupation forces as ground for military bases to stifle fellow countrymen with much ado about "strengthened alliance" and "promise."
The present "government for people" should have valued the dignity and interests of the nation and withdrawn military bases from historical and cultural sites since it cried for "independent diplomacy" and "horizontal relations" between the U.S. and south Korea. However, far from doing so, it egged riff-raffs on to call for registering the Demilitarized Zone along the Military Demarcation Line, a symbol of national division, as a world heritage and opening it to international tourism.
The south Korean authorities should dismantle all the military bases at historical and cultural sites at the earliest possible date, clearly understanding what a big crime it is to kowtow to the U.S.

Anti-U.S. and Anti-War Struggle Called for

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- All the Koreans are now replete with the firm will and determination to resolutely frustrate the U.S. imperialists' undisguised moves to launch a war of aggression against the DPRK, protect peace of the country and create a peaceful environment favorable for its independent reunification. Rodong Sinmun Thursday says this in a signed article. It goes on:
To avert the danger of a new war and achieve durable peace on the Korean Peninsula is a pressing task pending an urgent implementation.
The Korean nation is making efforts to achieve national reconciliation, cooperation and independent reunification true to the June 15 joint declaration in a bid to reunify the country in a peaceful way without any fratricidal war.
But the danger of a new war is growing on the Korean Peninsula due to the U.S. threat of aggression against the DPRK. This has thrown hurdles in the way of the Koreans' movement for achieving independent reunification by implementing the joint declaration.
The U.S. is massively shipping into south Korea ultra-modern war hardware under the pretext of "bolstering its forces" while talking bout the "cutback" of its forces in south Korea. At the same time it is busy with the "transfer of its military base" and "relocation" of its forces in south Korea.
ˇˇGiven that the danger of a new war is increasing on the Korean Peninsula every moment due to the U.S. imperialists' reckless moves to ignite a war against the DPRK and the movement for reconciliation, cooperation and independent reunification has hit a snag, the Koreans' anti-U.S. and anti-war struggle for defending peace has entered a new phase.
The anti-U.S. and anti-war sentiment is mounting higher than ever before in south Korea as south Koreans are becoming increasingly aware that it is the key to protecting peace on the Korean Peninsula to check and foil the U.S. war moves against the DPRK over the nuclear issue between the former and the latter.
The anti-U.S. and anti-war sentiment has rapidly mounted in south Korea and the anti-U.S. struggle has become an irresistible trend of the times. This is a great achievement made by the Koreans in their struggle for peace and peaceful reunification.
The Songun policy serves for a sure guarantee for preventing the U.S. imperialists' nuclear war on the Korean peninsula and defending peace of the country. The Korean nation will certainly emerge victorious in their struggle against the U.S. and war and achieve independent reunification thanks to this Songun policy.

Revolutionary Feats of Kim Hyong Gwon Still Remembered

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- November 4 this year is the 99th birth anniversary of indomitable revolutionary fighter Kim Hyong Gwon. Born in Mangyongdae as the third son of father Kim Po Hyon and mother Ri Po Ik, ardent patriots, he respected Kim Il Sung as leader of the Korean revolution and remained faithful to him till the last moments of his life.
He conducted activities as a leading member of the Paeksan Youth League (December 1927) and Young Communist League of Korea (August 1927) founded by President Kim Il Sung to rally broad sections of people as anti-Japanese patriotic forces.
The Korean Revolutionary Army (KRA) was organized in July 1930 in accordance with the line of launching an armed struggle against the Japanese imperialists put forth by the President at the historical Kalun Meeting (June 30-July 2, 1930). When several KRA groups were dispatched into the homeland, Kim Hyong Gwon, a commanding officer of the KRA, led one of them to conduct brisk political and military activities in the homeland.
Advancing into Phungsan County (at that time) in August Juche 19 (1930), his group stormed the Japanese Police Substation in Phabal-ri and shot to death a police sergeant nicknamed Opashi (stinging-bee) and thus instilled in the minds of the people under the Japanese colonial rule the truth that the struggle was the only way to save the nation and the armed enemy should be defeated with arms.
Even after his arrest by the Japanese police, he, with an indomitable revolutionary belief, did not stop fighting for implementing the line of armed struggle set forth by the President.
The gunshot fired by Kim Hyong Gwon in Phabal-ri still teaches the Korean people that the dignity and sovereignty of the nation can be defended only with arms.

Anniversary of UNESCO Observed

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson Thursday dedicates a signed article to the 58th founding anniversary of the UNESCO. Since its foundation the UNESCO has made not a small contribution to human civilization and development and global peace and security in line with its mission and purpose, the article says, and goes on:
Considering that it is important to instill peace-loving spirit into the people so as to put an end to all wars and disputes, the UNESCO has identified it as its action principle and made a great deal of efforts for international development in education, science and culture.
The organization has given big help to different countries of the world including developing countries in their work to train teachers, improve educational contents and abolish illiteracy.
In the scientific field it is channeling efforts into helping each country improve its scientific and technological policies and research institutions, introduce new scientific and technological education methods and train scientists.
Meanwhile, the organization is actively cooperating with various countries in the efforts to promote mutual understanding of their culture, unearth, restore and take care of international cultural relics in the cultural field.
It was with the cooperation and help of the UNESCO that tombs with mural paintings dating back to the period of Koguryo in Korea were registered as a world heritage in last July. Koguryo was the first feudal state in Korea that exercised great influence on the cultural development in the East in the mediaeval ages. As a result, the historical and cultural value of those tombs was universally recognized.
The positive cooperation and assistance of the organization are of valuable help to many countries of the world in their efforts to develop science, education and culture.
The DPRK will as ever strive to achieve rapid progress in education, science and culture to meet the intrinsic demand of man as a social being and actively cooperate with the UNESCO in its efforts for world development and security.
