Kim Jong Il's Work Published in Pamphlet in Cuba

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il' s famous work "The Workers' Party of Korea Is the Party of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung" was published in pamphlet by the Cubanas Publishing House of Cuba on October 5. The work, issued on October 2, Juche 84 (1995), is an immortal great program of the building of the Party and its activities that proudly reviews the glorious history of the Workers' Party of Korea in paving a new way of building a revolutionary party in the era of independence and indicates the road of strengthening and developing the Party eternally as the Party of President Kim Il Sung.

Reception Given by Russian Ambassador

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Andrei Gennadiyevich Karlov hosted a reception at the Russian embassy here Tuesday evening on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of the opening of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and the Russian Federation. Present on invitation were Kung Sok Ung, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Hong Son Ok, vice-chairwoman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and chairwoman of the DPRK-Russia Friendship Association, Kim Yong Jae, vice-minister of Foreign Trade, Kim Jong Sik, vice-chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, and officials concerned.
    Officials of the Russian embassy were on hand.
    Speeches were made at the reception.

President of Vanuatu Supports Cause of Korean Reunification

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- Kalkot Mataskelekele, president of the Republic of Vanuatu, said his government would continue to support the unshakable policy and efforts of the government of the DPRK for achieving the Korean reunification peacefully by implementing the north-south joint declaration adopted on June 15, 2000. When receiving credentials from Chon Jae Hong, DPRK ambassador e. p. to Vanuatu on Oct. 7, the president said his government and people well knew of the enormous efforts of the Korean people for building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation centering on the popular masses and achieving the independent and peaceful reunification of the country under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il, true to the noble intention of President Kim Il Sung.
    He hoped that the friendly and cooperative relations between Vanuatu and the DPRK would grow in scope and develop in all fields, political, economic and cultural.

Congolese President Expresses Solidarity with Korean People

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- Congolese President Denis Sassou-Nguesso expressed firm solidarity with the Korean people in their struggle for accomplishing their just cause when receiving credentials from DPRK Ambassador e. p. to the Congo Ri Won Son on October 7. The president said the friendly relations between the two countries had been developing from a long time ago, adding that the two countries had supported and cooperated with each other in the international arena.

Guinean Party Delegation Visits DPRK Embassy

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- A delegation of the Party for Unity and Progress of Guinea led by Secretary General Sekou Konate paid a congratulatory visit to the DPRK embassy in Conakry on October 8 on the occasion of the 59th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK). The delegation laid a floral basket before portraits of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.
    The secretary general said the founding anniversary of the WPK was also a holiday of his party because the WPK was the vanguard and banner of the progressive political parties all over the world. He declared that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two parties and two peoples would always remain invariable.

Floral Basket to DPRK Embassy in Bangkok from Thai Prime Minister

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra who is leader of Thai Rak Thai Party sent a floral basket to the DPRK embassy in Bangkok on October 8 on the occasion of the 59th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. The floral basket was laid before the full-length picture of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.

U.S. Congressional Passage of "North Korean Human Rights Act" Denounced

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification reportedly issued a statement on October 8 assailing the U.S. congressional passage of the "North Korean Human Rights Act." The statement said that the passage of the act is, to all intents and purposes, a blatant challenge to the efforts of the Korean nation to bring a new day of independent reunification.
    The more desperate the U.S. becomes in its moves for a war, the harder the headquarters will work to achieve the stronger unity and cooperation of the nation in order to reduce the disgusting "act" to a dead paper, the statement pointed out.
    The statement urged the U.S. to stop acting rashly and drop its hostile policy towards the north and vowed to frustrate the policy by concerted efforts of the nation.

Indonesian Ambassador Hosts Reception

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- Indonesian Ambassador e. p. to the DPRK Hendrati Sukendar Munthe gave a reception on Tuesday evening on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the independence of Indonesia. Present there on invitation were Paek Nam Sun, minister of Foreign Affairs, Mun Jae Chol, acting chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, Kim Yong Il, Choe Su Il, Jon Yong Jin and officials concerned, diplomatic envoys of foreign countries and representatives of international organizations here.
    On hand were staff members of the Indonesian embassy.

Reckless Acts of U.S. and GNP under Fire

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Democratic Front of south Korea (NDFSK) made public a statement on Oct. 9 denouncing U.S. Congress's passage of the "North Korean Human Rights Act" and the full support voiced by the Grand National Party of south Korea (GNP) to it, according to Kuguk Jonson Internet site. The statement branded the U.S. Congressional adoption of the act aimed at invading the north and the tiger moth-like behaviour of the GNP welcoming it as vicious treacherous and anti-reunification moves to start a nuclear war by escalating the hideous policy to stifle the north.
    The adoption of this act completely destroyed the groundwork of the six-party talks to solve the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula and rendered the prospect of improving the inter-Korean relations and achieving national reunification gloomier, the statement said, and went on:
    The grim reality today goes to prove that as long as there are the U.S. and its stooge GNP, the Korean nation can never sleep in peace nor can it achieve the country's reunification, its cherished desire.

One Million Signature Campaign for Abolition of SL Starts

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- The People's Solidarity for the Abolition of the Security Law (SL) in south Korea reportedly conducted street-propaganda in Seoul on Oct. 8 as part of a million signature campaign for the abolition of SL. Kwon O Hon, chairman of the Society Supporting Prisoners of Conscience of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy, taking part in the propaganda, said that on the strength of the SL many patriots have been punished over the last 56 years and even now innocent youth and students are thrown behind bars.
    Song Hyon Sok, chairman in charge of Political Affairs of the Council of Youth Organizations of south Korea, held that the SL defining the north as an enemy should be abolished at once for the reunification of the south and the north.

KCNA Blasts U.S. Senate's Passage of "North Korean Human Rights Act"

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- The U.S. was reported to have railroaded through Senate "North Korean Human Rights Act" full of articles supporting the administration's hostile policy toward the DPRK, despite domestic and foreign public concern and opposition to it. The U.S. passed the controversial act through Congress, crying out for "improved human rights performance", "freedom" and "democracy" in the DPRK.
    This goes to prove that the U.S. has become most desperate in its efforts to politicize and internationalize the non-existent human rights issue of the DPRK and thus tarnish its dignified international prestige and image and bring down its socialist system come what may.
    The U.S. regards the nuclear issue and the human rights issue as the two mainstays of its policy to isolate and stifle the DPRK. So, it is making every desperate effort to realize a regime change in the DPRK under the pretext of human rights performance there.
    It is by no means fortuitous that senior officials of the U.S. administration are getting increasingly assertive that human rights and other issues as well as the nuclear issue must be solved for the normalization of overall relations between the DPRK and the U.S.
    Human rights mean state sovereignty.
    Human rights issue is not an issue which allows U.S. interference because under what a political system and by what lifestyle Koreans should live is a matter to be decided by themselves under any circumstances.
    As the name of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea implies the working people are genuine masters of the state and society and its system is a genuine man-centered socialist system in which everything serves the people.
    It is the true picture of the society in the DPRK that all the people help and lead forward each other and form a big harmonious family enjoying genuine democratic freedom and rights to the full in all fabrics of social life.
    As for the human rights issue, it is none other than the U.S. which should be sternly judged by humankind for its serious abuses of human rights. Yet it is behaving as if it were a human rights judge.
    The U.S. invaded other countries by force of arms on the basis of misinformation and plot-breeding operation and did not hesitate to shower bombs on innocent and defenseless peaceable civilians including children.
    These monstrous crimes clearly prove that the U.S. is the world's worst violator of human rights and rights to existence. The U.S., killer of so many civilians, is still crying out for the defence of human rights and world security only to be cursed and censured by the world people as the arch violator of human rights. It is disgusting, indeed, for the U.S. to try to do harm to the inviolable DPRK, talking about its human rights issue, oblivious of its deplorable situation.
    The DPRK has no justification to sit with the U.S. at the moment, to say nothing of the six-party talks for the solution to the nuclear issue.
    The reality clearly proves that the U.S. administration has neither intention to roll back its hostile policy toward the DPRK nor any willingness to co-exist with the DPRK. It indicates that the U.S. talk that it has no willingness to invade the DPRK is nothing but sheer hypocrisy.
    This fact only hardens the determination of the people in the DPRK to counter the U.S. with strength to the last as it regards force as an all-powerful weapon.
    The Korean people will defend Korean-style socialism, their life and soul, as their eyeball and never allow anyone to defile it.

Water Disinfectants Widely Used in DPRK

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- Silver salt, which was highly appreciated at the 8th National Exhibition of Inventions and New Technology, is drawing interest of people. The water-disinfecting edible salt is made with silver chloride and salt.
    When it is dissolved in water, it discharges silver (Ag) ion. The silver ion kills various kinds of virus including colitis, cholera, paratyphoid fever and typhoid germs, and disinfects and purifies the water.
    One gram of silver salt contains five milligrams of argentums, and various elementary ions including sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and chlorine.
    Two grams of silver salt can disinfect 200 liters of water.
    According to an experiment, it eliminates all the germs in water within one or two hours.
    It is also used to disinfect clothes and treat skin diseases.
    If it is used in processing foodstuffs including soft drinks, they can be kept fresh for a long time.
    Unsusok (natural medicinal stone) has already been used at home and abroad.
    It supplies people with nutritive elements necessary for their health and longevity, kills various germs and removes an impure taste from water.
    One gram of Unsusok contains 33 milligrams of argentums and ten milligrams of iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, manganese, cuprum, zinc and barium respectively.
    Its powder is efficacious for injuries (cut, scar, eczema and water-eczema).

U.S. Forces in S. Korea, Cancer of Peace and Reunification of Korean Peninsula

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialist aggression forces present in south Korea to implement the policy of dominating Korea, are the root cause of all the sufferings, misfortunes and disasters of the Korean nation and a cancer-like being to the peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula, says Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a signed article. It goes on:
    The U.S. military occupation of south Korea was prompted by its aggressive design to dominate the whole of Korea and Northeast Asia.
    From the first days of their occupation of south Korea, the U.S. imperialists have steadily reinforced their armed forces for aggression there and ceaselessly staged large-scale nuclear war exercises against the DPRK including the Team Spirit joint military exercises, thus increasing tensions on the Korean peninsula and driving the situation to the brink of war.
    Talking much about a "peaceful solution" to the nuclear issue between it and the DPRK, the U.S. is on the run day in and day out in arms buildup and war maneuvers against the DPRK behind the scene and is getting overheated in the relocation of its aggression troops.
    From the beginning of its military occupation of south Korea, the U.S. has resorted to intrigues to make the Koreans in the north and the south distrustful and hostile to each other and is now becoming all the more undisguised in such moves.
    The U.S., not wanting the reunification of Korea, is engaging itself in the anti-reunification moves by manipulating its aggression forces present in south Korea, displeased with the climate of reconciliation of the Korean nation based on the June 15 joint declaration. It is mainly attributable to their interference and obstruction that the inter-Korean reconciliation, exchange and cooperation which had been going on smoothly are now undergoing setbacks and throes.
    As made clear by facts, the U.S. imperialist aggression forces present in south Korea are the main obstacle in the way of peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula.
    The U.S. would be well advised to clearly face up to the trend of the times, promptly abandon its confrontation moves and criminal hostile policy against the DPRK and pull its aggression troops and lethal weapons out of south Korea without delay so that the Korean nation could achieve reconciliation, cooperation and reunification.

Gift to Kim Jong Il from Chinese Delegation

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) --Leader Kim Jong Il received a gift from the delegation of the Chinese newspaper People”Ēs Daily on a visit to the DPRK. The gift was handed to an official concerned by Zhu Xinmin, vice-president of the People's Daily who is heading the delegation.

DPRK-China Cooperation in Field of Oceanography

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- There were talks between a delegation of the DPRK Hydro-Meteorological Service and a delegation of the State Oceanic Administration of China in Pyongyang on Oct. 13. At the talks both sides exchanged views on further developing the cooperation in the field of oceanography between the two countries and a series of matters of mutual concern.
    Present there from the DPRK side were members of the delegation of the DPRK Hydro-Meteorological Service headed by its Deputy Director Ho Chang Suk and from the Chinese side members of the delegation of the State Oceanic Administration of China led by its Deputy Director Zhou Maoping.

Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Air Force Unit

     Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, inspected KPA Air Force Unit 447 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led Seventh Regiment. After receiving a salute, he went round the monument to President Kim Il Sung's on-the-spot guidance and historic relics.
    Going round precious historic relics including a plane, he looked back with deep emotion on the proud history of this unit which was born and has grown to be a matchless one under the loving care of the President.
    This unit is a proud one with a long militant tradition as it has produced many persons of merit including heroes of the DPRK, he said, adding that the immortal revolutionary exploits performed by the President in the building of the nation's air force will brilliantly shine with its history.
    He acquainted himself with the unit's performance of duty before watching airmen in training and inspecting their technical lecture.
    He praised all the airmen for having acquired a high level of combat technique and capability by undergoing an intensive training true to the WPK's policy of training and gave them a warm pep-talk.
    He highly appreciated the exploits performed by all the servicepersons of the unit and set forth tasks which would serve as guidelines in increasing the unit's combat capability in every way, greatly satisfied to see that they have prepared themselves as a-match-for-a-hundred fighters through a vigorous drive to implement the WPK's self-defensive military line and firmly defended the sky over the country with a high degree of vigilance.
    Noting that all the brave airmen of the KPA are the indomitable fighters equipped with the same noble self-sacrificing spirit as displayed by heroes Ri Su Bok and Kil Yong Jo, he stressed that the airspace of the country is impenetrable and people-centered socialism in the DPRK is invincible as the sky is protected by such ranks of loyalists who are ready to dedicate their lives to the Party, the revolution, the country and the people.
    Then he looked round a bedroom, a mess hall, a kitchen of airmen and other entertainment and logistic facilities.
    He highly appreciated the achievements made by the unit, noting that the unit honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led Seventh Regiment is a model not only in the combat and political training but in all other aspects including its management.      Pyongyang, 13 de octubre (ATCC) -- El Dirigente Kim Jong Il, Secretario General del Partido del Trabajo de Corea, Presidente del Comite de Defensa Nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea y Comandante Supremo del Ejercito Popular de Corea, inspecciono la Unidad No. 2623 de las fuerzas aereas del EPC. Tras informarse del estado de cumplimiento del deber de esta unidad, el Comandante Supremo hizo un recorrido para presenciar los equipos tecnicos de combate.
    Senalo que se debe prestar primordial atencion al cuidado esmerado de las armas de la revolucion preparadas a costa de sangre y sudor del pueblo coreano y luego indico las tareas para elevar a un nivel mas alto la combatividad de la Unidad.
    Guiado por el jefe de la unidad, se dirigio a la sala de presentacion del historial de esta.

    Al ver los grandes arboles crecidos en el recinto de la unidad, dijo que para acondicionar hermosamente el cuartel como un parque hay que llevar adelante la forestacion de modo cientifico y tecnico y con vistas al futuro y enseno uno por uno los remedios para esta labor.
    Ya en el salon de leccion de aviacion, al encontrarse con los pilotos en entrenamiento, averiguo en detalles sobre la marcha de sus ejercicios y la calidad de sus uniformes de vuelo y departio con ellos en un ambiente cordial.
    Seguidamente, recorrio la Casa de Militares, dormitorio, comedor, cocina, bano, deposito diario y otros lugares para prestar profunda atencion a la labor y la vida de los aviadores.
    Se quedo muy regocijado de que la unidad creo optimas condiciones de vida, en particular, dispuso de excelentes instalaciones culturales y de intendencia convenientes a las caracteristicas de los pilotos.
    Encomendo a los comandantes de la unidad que presten especial atencion a la vida de los pilotos.
    El Comandante Supremo se fotografio junto a los militares de la unidad.

Kim Jong Il recibe presente de delegacion de Renmin Ribao

     Pyongyang, 13 de octubre (ATCC) -- El Dirigente Kim Jong Il recibio presente que le dirigiera la delegacion del diario chino Renmin Ribao presidida por su subdirector Zhu Xinmin, de visita en Corea. El jefe de la delegacion lo entrego a un funcionario coreano.

FDNSC denuncia aprobacion de proyecto de ley anti-RPDC

     Pyongyang, 13 de octubre (ATCC) -- Segun el sitio web del Internet "Frente de Salvacion Nacional", el portavoz del Frente Democratico Nacional del Sur de Corea publico el dia 9 una declaracion denunciando al congreso norteamericano, que aprobo finalmente el "proyecto de ley de derechos humanos del Norte de Corea", y a su complice "Partido Hannara" del Sur de Corea. El documento califica esta aprobacion y apoyo del "Partido Hannara" dado a esta de brutal acto antinacional y anti-reunificacion encaminado a desatar la guerra nuclear con la cruel politica de aplastamiento a Corea y las maniobras de guerra de agresion en contra del Norte, y prosiguio:
    Debido a la reciente aprobacion del referido proyecto de ley y las desesperadas maniobras del "Partido Hannara" que la apoyo, la base de las conversaciones a 6 bandas para la solucion del problema nuclear en la Peninsula Coreana se dio a la quiebra total y sera mas tenebroso el futuro de las relaciones Sur-Norte y de la reunificacion de la patria.

Presidente de Congo se solidariza con lucha de pueblo coreano

     Pyongyang, 13 de octubre (ATCC) -- El presidente de la Republica del Congo, Denis Sasou-Nguesso, al recibir el dia 7 las cartas credenciales del nuevo embajador extraordinario y plenipotenciario de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea en su pais, Ri Won Son, expreso su firme solidaridad con la lucha del pueblo coreano por la realizacion de su justa causa. Dijo que las relaciones de amistad entre Congo y Corea se pusieron a desarrollarse desde hace mucho tiempo y apunto que ambos paises han venido apoyandose y cooperandose en la palestra internacional.
