DPRK Founding Anniversary Celebrated Abroad

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- A celebration meeting was held by the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia on August 31on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of the foundation of the DPRK. Chairperson of the party S. Z. Umalatova said in a report that with the foundation of the DPRK the political situation of East Asia had been radically changed.
    She went on:
Under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung the protracted struggle of the Korean people to liberate the country from the Japanese occupiers was concluded with victory and a genuine people's country was built in the land of Korea, so that the road of socialist development was opened in this region.
The DPRK has covered the road of new development under the leadership of Kim Jong Il, a great successor to the idea and cause of Kim Il Sung.
Through the Russia visit of Kim Jong Il not only the Russian people but the whole world have come to know clearly that he is steering the world.
The DPRK is now displaying its might as a powerful socialist country which has the people single-heartedly united around the leader and the invincible revolutionary armed forces.
Speakers praised the state building exploits of Kim Il Sung and the Songun leadership exploits of Kim Jong Il. They stressed that new victories and successes are always in store for the DPRK and the Korean people invariably holding high the socialist banner.
A message of greetings to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.
Meanwhile, a round-table talk, a lecture and a film show were held by the Trunov County Committee of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia of the Czech Republic, the commercial faculty of the Makerere University in Uganda and a machine company in Indonesia from August 27 to 31.

Hu Jintao Meets Head of WPK Delegation

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Friday met and had a friendly talk with Pak Yong Sok, chairman of the Central Control Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) who is heading the WPK delegation to the 3rd international conference of Asian political parties. He said that he was greatly pleased to meet General Secretary of the WPK Kim Jong Il in April last and deepen the friendly relations and that he could never forget that time.

U.S. Moves for Preemptive Attack under Fire

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The United States is now massively deploying its aggression armed forces in the Asia-Pacific region surrounding the Korean peninsula under the pretext of "promptly countering" hotspots around the globe. This goes to prove that the U.S. ambition for world supremacy to occupy strategic vantages in Northeast Asia and the world's main natural resource areas on the plea of "combating terror" is entering the full-fledged practice. Rodong Sinmun Sunday says this in a signed commentary.
    It goes on:
The U.S. is working hard to form a "rapid reaction force" in the Asia-Pacific region to contain China and Russia and create a favorable circumstance for the realization of its strategy for world domination in the new century. Considering the Korean peninsula as its key link in carrying out its Asia-Pacific strategy the U.S. intends to make it a test ground for its "long distance attack strategy" and "rapid mobile operation".
The U.S. bellicose forces have planned to move the First U.S. Army Corps Command to Japan and most of the U.S. troops in south Korea from the areas of the Military Demarcation Line to deploy them south of the River Han. This is aimed to further increase the capabilities of preemptive attack on the DPRK with its naval and air force, "rapid reaction force," etc.
It is foolish for the U.S. to realize its design for domination in the Korean peninsula and the Asia-Pacific region with the "rapid reaction force." The U.S. is grossly mistaken if it thinks that it will be safe with others suffering from damage as it launches a "rapid maneuvers" with its "long distance attack strategy". Ultra-modern equipment is not monopoly of the U.S. There is no limit in the striking force of the Korean People's Army. If the U.S. dare ignite a war against the DPRK, misjudging its might, the aggressors will not evade a merciless retaliatory strike anywhere they may be.

"History of Anti-Japanese Armed Struggle" Vol. 6 Published

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The Science and Encyclopedia Press has brought out book "History of Anti-Japanese Armed Struggle" (enlarged edition) vol. 6. The book carries the immortal fighting feats performed by President Kim Il Sung in leading the whole Korean revolution centering on the anti-Japanese armed struggle to a great upswing by wisely leading the Korean People's Revolutionary Army and party and revolutionary organizations in the historic period from late autumn of Juche 25 (1936) to late June of Juche 26 (1937).
It says that the President put forward the policy of frustrating the "winter great punitive" offensive of the Japanese imperialists and consolidating the Mt. Paektu base at the military and political cadres meeting of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army held in November Juche 25 (1936) and then wisely led the struggle to this end.
He led to a brilliant victory the operation of advance into the homeland with the historic Pochonbo battle as the main and rapidly expanded party organizations and the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland to immensely strengthen the revolutionary forces on a nationwide scale, the book adds.

Czech Organization Denounces Ulji Focus Lens-04

Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- The Paektusan Czech-Korean Friendship Association made public a statement denouncing the U.S.-south Korea joint military exercise Ulji Focus Lens-04 on Aug. 31. The statement said that the aim of Ulji Focus Lens-04 is to complete the preparations for starting any moment a war similar to the Korean war that broke out in 1950.
This kind of military exercise has been periodically staged against the DPRK for the last more than decade along with economic sanctions and smear campaigns, the statement noted, and went on:
This military exercise can never go with dialogue for seeking a peaceful settlement of the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula.
It is a grave one of chilling the atmosphere of dialogue and harassing peace. It goes to clearly prove that the U.S. is chiefly responsible for blocking peace and reunification of Korea.
If the U.S. is interested in defusing the tensions and ensuring peace in Korea and wants dialogue, it should immediately stop the military exercise in south Korea.
We demand the U.S. drop its hostile policy towards the DPRK and withdraw its armed forces from south Korea.

Mongolian President Supports Korea's Peaceful Reunification

Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- It is the hope of Mongolia that Korea would be reunified peacefully, said Mongolian President Natsagyn Bagabandi when receiving credentials from new DPRK Ambassador e.p. to his country Pak Jong Do on Aug. 30. Noting that the two countries have a good tradition of friendly relations spanning more than 50 years, the president stressed Mongolia would develop the relations with the DPRK in many fields including politics, economy and culture.
We are obliged to develop the friendly relations provided through the two Mongolian visits by President Kim Il Sung and several Korean visits by Mongolian leaders as required by the developing realities, he added.

Struggle for Frustrating GNP's Plot Called for

Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- The Information Department of the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of south Korea on September 2 made public an appeal calling upon the south Korean people from all walks of life to turn out in the struggle for frustrating the plot of the Grand National Party (GNP) to foil the movement for probe into the truth about past history, according to Kuguk Jonson Internet site. The appeal said: The GNP worked hard to foil the movement for probe into truth about past history from its outset. When it has become a trend of the times to demand the liquidation of past history, the GNP let loose sheer sophism that "pro-north and pro-communist activities" should be included in the objects to be probed.
The aim of the GNP is nothing but to groundlessly link the movement with the north in a bid to divert the probe elsewhere and cover up its crime-woven history in which its gang committed pro-Japanese acts of treachery and pro-U.S. sycophantic acts, enforced fascist dictatorship, practiced corruption, pursued confrontation with the north and did harm to fellow countrymen.
The far-fetched assertion made by the GNP is aimed to brand the patriots of all social strata who have worked for national reconciliation, cooperation and reunification and the people desirous of national reunification in this land as "pro-north and pro-communist elements."
The people from all walks of life should turn out in an all-people struggle to liquidate the past history in order to completely eliminate the traitorous party just as they punished the GNP during the presidential election and the National Assembly election.
All the people and the organizations of the anti-U.S. movement should conduct the struggle to probe the truth behind the past history in close combination with the struggle to frustrate the U.S. colonial rule over south Korea and interference in its internal affairs, the appeal concluded.

U.S.-S. Korea Joint War Exercise under Fire

Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- The U.S. and the south Korean bellicose forces staged Ulji Focus Lens-04 joint military drill from August 23 to eptember 3. Rodong Sinmun Saturday in a signed commentary carried in this regard says:
It was a preliminary war and a test nuclear war aimed to put into practice the "operation plan 5027-04," a new war scenario worked out by the U.S. imperialist warmongers.
Ulji Focus Lens-04 fully disclosed that it was of the same aggressive and provocative nature as that of "team spirit" joint exercise in its purpose and content. It was an extremely adventurous maneuver for a war of aggression presupposing a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK.
The U.S. imperialists are persistently insisting that the DPRK scrap its nuclear program first, backtracking on the principle "words for words", "action for action" and "reward for freeze" publicly recognized by the international community. They are openly heading for a provocative military option, beclouding the prospect of the peaceful settlement of the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S.
The U.S. staged the joint military exercise in a bid to threaten and pressurize the DPRK by force of arms and, at the same time, achieve its criminal purpose of igniting a nuclear war at any cost on the Korean peninsula under the pretext of the nuclear issue between them.
Herein lies the danger of the recent joint military exercise which should not be overlooked.
The south Korean authorities staged such dangerous north-targeted saber-rattling in collusion with the outside forces in violation of the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration, thus inciting distrust and confrontation between the north and the south and laying a stumbling block in the way of improving the north-south relations.
The U.S. and its followers should act with discretion, pondering over the catastrophic consequences to be entailed by their anachronistic hostile policy toward the DPRK and moves for inciting confrontation between the north and the south.

The art performances were appreciated by senior officials of the capital city and local areas and people from all walks of life.
Meng Xiaosi, vice-minister of the Chinese Ministry of Culture, said dance "Peasant dances" presented by the art troupe clearly showed the feature of flourishing Korean arts and it added to the festive atmosphere. He went on:
Frequent art exchanges with the DPRK are very important not only for the development of arts in Asia but for boosting the friendship between the DPRK and China.
A producer of the Tungfang Song and Dance Ensemble said that the "Peasant dances" are a gem like work as they played a key role in the whole course of the festival.
As we clearly realized through a series of visits of our ensemble to the DPRK, its arts have admirable progress under the correct leadership of Kim Jong Il who is well versed in arts. I would like to visit Korea frequently to study the Korean performing art.
The councilor at the Ministry of Culture noted that the "Peasant dances" were acclaimed by the audience for their distinct national flavour and very dynamic and unique movements.
The vice-chairman of the Chinese Association of Producers said that the Korean national arts are wonderful as they are peculiar and splendid and meet the sentiment of the audience.

Memorial Services Held in Japan

Tokyo, September 2 (KNS-KCNA) -- A memorial service was held in front of the monument to the Korean victims in Tokyo on Sept. 1, 81 years since the assacre of Koreans after the Kanto quake in 1923. Pak Yun Gi, vice-chairman of the Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters of Chongryon (General Association of Korean Residents in Japan), in his memorial address said that when a great quake occurred in Kanto in 1923, the Japanese authorities committed such thrice-cursed atrocities as hurling army and police forces and even civilians to kill thousands of Koreans in cold blood after setting afloat a rumor.
Although 81 years have passed since then the right-wing reactionaries and media in Japan are still misleading the public opinion, stoking hostility toward the DPRK and creating a terror-ridden atmosphere to incriminate Koreans in Japan, he said.
He urged the Japanese authorities to sincerely implement the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration and called on the compatriots to achieve national reunification, their cherished desire, without fail so that they might discharge their mission as the descendent of the victims.
Representatives of youth and students spoke next.
They said that they would never forget the bitter grudge of the victims, protect the dignity of the nation and give full play to its resourcefulness.
A figure of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly who attended the service begged Koreans' forgiveness for killing Koreans for no understandable reason and assured those present there that the similar tragedy would never occur.
The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of the victims.
Memorial services were also held in Chiba and Saitama Prefectures under the sponsorship of the headquarters and branches of Chongryon on the same day.

The government of our Republic, which has maintained the consistent stand of opposing all forms of terrorism, fully supports all the steps taken by the Russian government to settle the terrorist cases and ensure the territorial integrity of the country and believes that the Russian government will eradicate the aftermath of terrorist acts as soon as possible and achieve the stability and unity of the country under your leadership.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman on Recent Terrorism in Russia

Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry gave the following answer to a question put by KCNA Saturday in connection with a series of recent terrorist acts in Russia that caused huge casualties: The terrorist acts committed in different parts of Russia recently have greatly shocked and infuriated the international community.
As already reported, two airliners crashed in the air above Rostov and Tula regions on August 24 due to suicide bomb attacks. On August 31 a bomb explosion ripped through an entrance of a subway station in Moscow, claiming big casualties. On September 1 terrorists occupied a middle school in the Republic of Northern Osetia when a ceremony of the new school year was under way and held hundreds of students and their parents and teachers hostage. This terrorism claimed big casualties.
A series of terrorist acts committed in different regions of Russia before and after the recent election of the Chechen president were targeted against innocent civilians, children in particular. They were base and hideous terrorism perpetrated by separatist forces and international terrorists linked to them in a bid to derail the process of a political settlement in Chechnya, create uneasiness and terror among Russians and thus violate the territorial integrity in Russia.
It is the consistent and fixed stand of the DPRK government to oppose all forms of terrorism and any aid to it.
Proceeding from this stand, the DPRK has actively supported the measures taken by the Russian government to cleanse Chechen terrorists and protect the security and territorial integrity of the country.
The DPRK strongly denounces recent terrorism in Russia and extends full solidarity to the government and people of Russia in all their efforts to eradicate the aftermath of terrorism at an early date and ensure lasting stability and territorial integrity of the country.

Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected recruits' training sub-unit of KPA Unit 833. He acquainted himself with the sub-unit's performance of duty before seeing diverse visual aids for education and learning in detail about their use.
He set forth tasks for conducting the ideological work in a deep-going way, greatly pleased to see the sub-unit briskly conducting the political work suited to the character of the recruits to train them as soldiers strong in idea and faith.
He dropped in at the sighting drill ground to watch soldiers in training.
What is essential of the traits to be acquired by the soldiers is the marksmanship worthy of a crack shot, he said, underscoring the need to focus efforts on training to prepare the soldiers as a-match-for-a-hundred fighters possessed of high marksmanship as early as possible.
He saw a variety of sports apparatuses, an outdoor resting place and various kinds of amusement facilities and was very pleased to learn that the recruits were provided with ample conditions for cultural recreation. He taught ways for briskly conducting sports and amusement activities to suit the character of soldiers.
Greatly satisfied to see the compound of the barracks and their surroundings splendidly spruced up, he said that this marvelous change represents a miracle which can be wrought only by KPA servicepersons in the era of Songun who race against the time and bring earlier morrow.
He took warm care of the service and living of the recruits as their real parents would do, going round an education room, a bedroom, a mess hall, a daily provision store, a washroom, a mushroom cultivation ground, a processing room, welfare and service facilities and other entertainment and logistic facilities.
He met the soldiers who were in training after joining the army shortly ago and talked with them, congratulating them on their recruitment.
Our country is like an invulnerable fortress as it is defended as firm as an iron wall by the people who greatly prize arms with high civic awareness that the national defence reflects a most vivid expression of patriotism, he said, urging the recruits to fully prepare themselves ideologically, spiritually and physically during their service and become ardent revolutionaries and staunch fighters.
He spared time to watch an art performance given by servicepersons of the sub-unit.
