The three principles of national reunification, the proposal for establishing the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo and the ten-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation for the reunification of the country are formulated as the three charters for national reunification in the work.

Seminars on Kim Jong Il's Works Held in India and Mexico

Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- Seminars on leader Kim Jong Il's immortal famous works "Let Us Exalt the Brilliance of Comrade Kim Il Sung's Idea on the Youth Movement and the Achievements Made under His Leadership" and "Socialism Is a Science" were held by the Indian Youth Group for the Study of Works of Comrade Kim Il Sung and the Mexican Committee for the Study of Kimilsungism on August 18 and 25. Balzor Singh Chauhan, chairman of the Indian group, said at the seminar the work "Let Us Exalt the Brilliance of Comrade Kim Il Sung's Idea on the Youth Movement and the Achievements Made under His Leadership" reflects the fixed will of Kim Jong Il to develop the Korean youth movement along the road indicated by President Kim Il Sung so as to fully prepare all young people as the young vanguard of the Workers' Party of Korea and as successors to the revolution and carry the cause of socialism to completion.
The Korean youth are now performing wonders and innovations in every worksite where arduous and difficult labour is done to build a great prosperous powerful nation in hearty response to the appeal of the WPK, he noted, and continued: .
This work serves as an inspiring banner powerfully promoting not only the Korean youth movement but the world youth movement as it indicates the orientation and ways to be followed by the Korean youth movement.
Ramon Jimenez Lopez, president of the Mexican committee, said at the seminar that the work "Socialism Is a Science" injected fresh energy into the socialist movement which had suffered painful setbacks due to opportunism. He went on to say:
Kim Jong Il is, indeed, a great thinker and theoretician and a great leader of the socialist revolution.
We should deepen our study of this work so as to revive socialism enshrined in the hearts of the people on our own efforts.

British Organization Denounces U.S. Arms Buildup

Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- The British Branch of the Association for Friendship with the Korean People made public a statement on Aug. 22 chiding the U.S. imperialists for contemplating arms buildup in south Korea. Recently the U.S. announced that it would bring an Alaska-based squadron of F-15E fighter-bombers to south Korea, while additionally introducing three squadrons of F-117 Stealth fighter-bombers, missiles and Aegis destroyers.
The British Branch of the association was terribly shocked by this, the statement said, and added:
In fact, the situation of the Korean peninsula has been driven to the brink of war by the Bush group's frantic moves for a war of aggression against the DPRK.
The statement urged the U.S. imperialists to retract right away their plan to make a beefed-up shipment of military equipment for aggression into south Korea.
It shouted to the U.S. imperialists "Hands Off Korea at Once!" and called upon all the progressive people aspiring after independence in Britain and other countries to unite closely around the DPRK, the country of Juche.

Dispatch of Troops to Iraq Denounced

Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- The People's Action against the Troop Dispatch reportedly sponsored a rally in Seoul on August 28 to denounce the present regime for dispatching the main force of the Jaitun Unit to Iraq. Noting that the main force of the Jaitun Unit left for Iraq by stealth at dawn that day, the speakers at the rally deplored that the "government" finally fell deep into the mire of the war of aggression in disregard of the opposition of a great number of people.
Vowing to wage a demonstration of massive scale against the U.S. aggression of Iraq and the authorities' troop dispatch, they called upon all social strata to join them.
They proposed a mass trial campaign to judge the criminals responsible for the war of aggression against Iraq including Bush and flunkeyist traitors of south Korea.
The rally was followed by a demonstration.
The south Korean Federation of University Student Councils on August 30 made public a statement titled "Let us bring down a sledge hammer on the humiliating south Korea-U.S. alliance by a struggle for the withdrawal of the dispatched units."
Questioning how long the sovereignty of the nation must be violated, the statement declared that all the people would fight with redoubled force to write off the dishonor of a cooperator in the war of aggression and end the unequal south Korea-U.S. relations.

National Contests among Hobby Groups of Schoolchildren's Palaces (Halls) Held

Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- National contests among science and technology circles and dance circles of the schoolchildren's palaces (halls) were held here.     The contest was divided into circles of mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, electronic device, car and truck, handicraft and sewing.
The contestants fully displayed the talent which they had refined through brisk circle activities under the benevolent care of leader Kim Jong Il. The second national contest among dance circles of the schoolchildren's palaces (halls) that covered the period from August 23 to 27 involved over 240 hopeful circle members.
They depicted well the happy looks of schoolchildren growing vigorously as reserves of Juche-oriented arts in colorful programs including dance trio, dance quartet, semi-group dance and group dance.
Citations were awarded to highly estimated units and circle members.

GNP's Moves to Hide Its Crimes under Fire

Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- The Grand National Party of south Korea is becoming increasingly assertive that the organization to be created for "probe into truth about past crimes" should be a pure research institution belonging to such non-political organization as an academy. It again raised a hue and cry over "political colouring," insisting that "pro-north and pro-communist activities" should be included in the objects to be probed.
A signed commentary of Minju Joson Friday dismisses this as an anachronistic move to cover up such hideous crimes as pro-U.S. sycophantic and traitorous acts, fascist and anti-reunification acts it has committed since it sprang up from the pro-Japanese roots, scuttle the probe into the truth about past crimes and put a brake on the movement for independence, democracy and reunification in a bid to bring back the old era of dictatorship and confrontation.
The above-mentioned far-fetched assertion made by the GNP is aimed to insult under absurd pretexts those figures and organizations that have conducted just activities for national reconciliation, cooperation, unity and reunification, create a complexity in the solution of the issue and divert the probe elsewhere, the commentary says, and goes on:
The truth about past crimes should be probed as demanded by the south Koreans. The history that had been distorted or incorrectly estimated should be set right and properly assessed.
With no sleight of hand can the GNP's ultra-right conservative forces cover up the true nature of the party made up of pro-Japanese traitors and their descendents and the crimes they have committed against the nation. It can never evade a stern trial of history as they revolted against progress and reform.

U.S. "Human Rights" Offensive Assailed

Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- The United States is slandering the DPRK over a fictitious "human rights issue," exploiting this issue as one of the important levers of its aggressive external policy for global domination. What it seeks in this is to find a pretext to launch aggression on the DPRK which is situated at a prominent strategic vantage.
Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article, which reads in part:
The adoption of the "act on human rights in north Korea" at the U.S. House of Representatives was a very grave provocation aimed at isolating and stifling the DPRK. The United States intends to bring to greater intensity its pressure to bear upon the DPRK by turning the fictitious "human rights issue" of the latter into a political and international problem and, furthermore, stifle it by force of arms. What the United States is after is to render its confrontation with the DPRK more acute with the "human rights" offensive against the latter and, moreover, light the fuse of a war. Trying to find a pretext for a war, it is whipping itself into frenzy in its massive war games, with vast aggression forces amassed in and around south Korea. The "human rights issue" is what it brings forward for this purpose.
Nobody can vouch that the United States, the robber who stoops to any infamy by placing its domestic law above international law, would not launch into an armed intervention against the DPRK any time by brandishing the "act on human rights in north Korea."
The U.S. "human rights" offensive can never work with the DPRK. It is waiting for a social confusion in the DPRK. But it is as foolish and vain as waiting for a rain from a clear sky. The human rights concept based on the U.S. view of value cannot be applied to the DPRK, and it can never be allowed to use it for a political aim.
The Korean people are heightening vigilance against the attempts of the United States to impair the dignity and prestige of the independent DPRK, make it legal and its policy to mount a "human rights" offensive designed for interference in the internal affairs of the DPRK and isolate and stifle it at any cost by cooking up the act full of lies. If the U.S. persisted in its scheme to do harm to the DPRK by the "human rights" offensive, the anti-U.S. sentiments of the Korean people would grow a hundred fold. The more vicious the United States becomes in hurling every conceivable slander at the DPRK, putting pressure upon it, the greater is the might of the single-hearted unity of the army and people of the DPRK and its self-reliant defense capabilities. And they will make full preparations to beat the enemy at one blow if he dare pounce upon them.

U.S. Reckless Moves for War of Aggression under Fire

Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- The U.S. are contemplating deploying a squadron of Alaska-based F-15E fighter-bombers of the U.S. Air Force in south Korea before long. Rodong Sinmun Friday in a signed commentary carried in this connection observes: This military move goes to clearly prove that the U.S. preparations for a reckless overall and surprise preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK are now under way at a final phase.
The U.S. has pretended to work for a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S., talking about "dialogue" and "diplomatic solution." The developments, however, indicate that it is nothing but hypocrisy and there is no change in its ambition to stifle the DPRK by force of arms.
The U.S. imperialist warmongers should clearly know that the army and people of the DPRK will not remain a passive on looker to the U.S. attempt to mount a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK as its danger is imminent.
The escalated moves of the U.S. to invade the DPRK would only prompt its army and people to hold the banner of the Songun politics higher and increase its war deterrent in every way. If the U.S. imperialist bellicose forces dare ignite a war of aggression on this land, the army and people of the DPRK will give vent to their pent-up resentment and wrath against the U.S. and deal merciless retaliatory blows at the aggressors so that they will not be able to have even a chance to repent of it.
The south Korean authorities opened the sky, seas and land of Korea to huge foreign aggression forces coming to do harm to the fellow countrymen and, worse still, are staging north-targeted war exercises together with outside forces. They will have to be accountable for such acts against the nation, peace and reunification.

Songam Cavern in DPRK

Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- Songam Cavern is in the outskirts of Kaechon City, South Phyongan Province, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The natural cavern, discovered several years ago, displays superb view with stalagmites and flowers of all forms and figures which have been made from limestones dissolved and corroded through many a century.
There are more than 70 scenic spots in the cavern.
Seen in and around the cavern are rest places and service facilities as well as various animal sculptures.
Leader Kim Jong Il called at the cavern in March Juche 85 (1996) and April 2002. He named it Songam Cavern and said that it should be turned into a holiday resort.

New Method of Viticulture Introduced in DPRK

Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- The Pomiculture Institute of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has succeeded in growing grapes by making use of building walls. In recent years, it has planted tens of thousands of grape saplings in different parts of the country. It has reaped a high yield without using arable land while adding beauty to towns.
A hundred and scores of clusters of grapes are gathered from a seven or eight-year-old grape vine.
As the grapes growing on walls are fully exposed to the sun, added by the heat of the walls, they get ripe earlier than those in fields and their fruits have a larger amount of sugar and are bigger.
They are not affected by damp in the rainy season or by blight and harmful insects.
Grape plants 3-4 years old grow as high as one storey a year, absorbing carbonic acid gas and dust to clean the air.
Grape vines with clusters of grapes covering dwelling houses and public buildings in Phyonghwa-ri, Sukchon County, South Phyongan Province, are catching eyes of many visitors and passers-by.

Supreme Commander of KPA Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Unit

Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected KPA Unit 363. He was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong, and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee.
He first climbed a forward command post on the top of a height where he learned about the unit's performance of duty and received a report on the situation from its commander.
He set forth tasks which would serve as guidelines in further increasing the unit's combat capability and consolidating the defence theatre as firm as an iron wall, greatly satisfied to learn that the servicepersons of the unit have converted the defence theatre into an invulnerable fortress and made a lot of valuable inventions helpful to creditably undertaking combat duties under any circumstances.
He looked round the room devoted to the history of the unit and inspected a technical lecture given for commanding officers at the military lecture room.
It is very good that the unit is preparing all officers as commanding officers possessed of a high level of operational commanding ability, he noted, underscoring the need to pay primary attention to the work to thoroughly implement its training program.
He acquainted himself with the service and living of soldiers, going round a servicepersons' hall, an education room, a bedroom, a mess hall, a kitchen, a non-staple food store, a washroom and other places.

He highly appreciated their feats, greatly pleased to see the servicepersons of the unit tenaciously and methodically building up their life after sprucing up their revolutionary posts well as required by the WPK's slogan "Let's train, study and live like the anti-Japanese guerrillas!"
He extended warm thanks to all the wives of the officers of the unit, greatly satisfied to see them taking deep care of the soldiers' living as their real mothers and sisters would do.
