NDFSK Spokesman Denounces U.S. Arms Buildup

Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Democratic Front of south Korea (NDFSK) issued a statement on Aug. 28 denouncing the U.S. imperialists for contemplating deploying a squadron of F-15E fighter-bombers based on their mainland in south Korea, according to Kuguk Jonson Internet site. The statement said:
The projected deployment in south Korea of F-15E fighter-bombers ill-famed for their barbarous air raids in the Iraqi war is an unpardonable grave criminal act of harassing peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and the rest of the world and violating the sovereignty of the Korean nation as it is a dangerous move for a war of aggression against the north aimed to escalate the tensions on the peninsula and push the situation to the brink of war.
The U.S. plan to deploy such ultra-modern fighter-bombers as F-15E in south Korea and let them undergo a series of exercises aimed to familiarize themselves with terrain conditions in case of contingency on the Korean peninsula is a very disturbing military move as it is designed to mount a preemptive attack on the north at any moment.
The people from all walks of life should turn out as one in the struggle for independence against the U.S. and war and decisively foil the U.S. reckless moves for a war of aggression against the north and its arms buildup through national cooperation under the uplifted banner of the Korean nation-first spirit.

DPRK Founding Anniversary Observed Abroad

Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- A celebration meeting and a seminar were held and a lecture was given in Lahore, Pakistan, the Indian Intellectuals' Society for the Study of the Juche Idea and the Nongprat Community in Tharuang County, Lop Buri Province, Thailand, from Aug. 21 to 27 on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of the foundation of the DPRK. C. R. Aslam, president of the Pakistan Socialist Party, in his speech at the meeting said President Kim Il Sung organized and led the arduous anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to liberate Korea and found a genuine country for the people.
Abid Hussein, former chief of the Lahore City Supreme Court of Pakistan, referring to the exploits of Kim Il Sung in founding the DPRK, said leader Kim Jong Il is wisely leading Korea to a brilliant victory with his outstanding ability.
    V. K. Chopra, chairman of the Indian Intellectuals' Society for the Study of the Juche Idea, at the seminar said the DPRK under the Songun policy is displaying its dignity as an independent powerful nation on the globe today when imperialism is thrashing around in aggression, interference and arbitrariness. Only victory and glory are in store for the DPRK as long as the Korean people uphold the Songun policy of Kim Jong Il, he stressed.
Songchit Pullarp, chairman of the Organization for the Study of the Juche Idea of Thailand, at the lecture said the development of the DPRK is unthinkable apart from the unique Songun policy. The Songun policy enables the DPRK to achieve great successes today, he noted, adding: From the course of the development of the DPRK we should deeply understand the validity and originality of the Songun policy pursued by Kim Jong Il.
Messages of greetings to Kim Jong Il were adopted at the celebration meeting and seminar held in Pakistan and India.
Meanwhile, an explanation meeting, film shows and a celebration party were held in Lemba District of Kinshasa, Democratic Congo, the Antam TBK Co., Indonesia, and the Leoncio Prado Military School and Thomas Jefferson Preliminary Military School, Peru, from Aug. 23 to 26.
Screened at the film shows were Korean films including "The International Friendship Exhibition" and "The Three-Revolution Exhibition."

At Least 180 Cases of U.S. Aerial Espionage in August

Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists perpetrated at least 180 cases of aerial espionage against the DPRK in August, according to a military source. A U-2 took off a U.S. air force base in south Korea at about 11:15 on August 31 and made a long shuttle flight from east to west in the sky above areas along the Military Demarcation Line to spy on the targets in the depth of the DPRK.
On Aug. 23 when the aggressive joint military exercise Ulji Focus Lens-04 started, eight strategic and tactical reconnaissance planes were involved in spying on the DPRK and seven on Aug. 24.
The reckless aerial espionage clearly indicates how desperately the U.S. imperialist warmongers are working to mount a preemptive attack on the DPRK and stifle it by force of arms.

Security Law Must Vanish from History

Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification reportedly made public a statement on August 27, castigating the Constitutional Court for ruling that some paragraphs of the Security Law are consistent with the constitution. The south Korean public is now denouncing the judgement as an anti-reunification act going against the north-south relations and people's demand, the statement said, and went on:
How can those paragraphs be constitutional? The paragraphs still brand the north as an enemy and threaten to arrest those who sympathize with it at a time when all the people are turning out to achieve the independent reunification of the country under the uplifted banner of the June 15 joint declaration.
The decision of the Constitutional Court is also contrary to the trend of the times demanding a total abolition of the evil law. The Security Law must vanish from history.
The Constitutional Court should adopt another decision, if it does not want to remain an anti-national, anti-reunification force in history.
If the Grand National Party and other pro-American, anti-reunification separatists go on the rampage, taking advantage of the decision and beating the drum of "the nature of the system", they will never evade all-people resistance and their judgment and punishment.

Day of NAM Observed

Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- Papers Wednesday dedicate articles to the Day of the Non-Aligned Movement. Rodong Sinmun says that the NAM has made a steady progress along the road of its development for the past more than four decades despite the imperialists¡Ç vicious challenge and the complicated international situation. This movement has grown strong to be a powerful anti-imperialist independent force involving at least 110 countries and its position and say have remarkably been enhanced, the paper notes, and continues:
Independence against imperialism is a noble idea of the NAM and it is the fundamental principle of this movement to make an independent advance, not joining any block.
The present situation requires the NAM to preserve its purity and idea and enhance its role with a view to giving a strong impetus to the cause of global independence.
If the non-aligned countries get united and wage a stubborn struggle against the U.S. imperialists¡Ç high-handed and arbitrary practice and unilateralism they can certainly stop the U.S. from running wild, the human cause of independence and peace can make progress and it would be possible to build an order based on independence and equality to govern the international relations and facilitate the democratization of the international community.
Just and invincible are the idea and cause of the NAM. If the NAM steadily increases its position and might and dynamically advances along the orbit of independence, the idea and cause of this movement are bound to triumph.
It is an unshakable stand of the DPRK government and its avowed foreign policy to preserve the purity of the NAM and help it successfully discharge its duty and mission. The DPRK has so far made strenuous efforts to preserve and strengthen the NAM and realize its fundamental idea of independence against imperialism and peace against war.
Minju Joson says that the DPRK government will as ever remain true to the principle and fundamental idea of the NAM and make every possible effort to strengthen and develop this movement in the new century, too.

U.S. Moves for Arms Buildup Assailed

Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- The United States decided to deploy a squadron of Alaska-based F-15E in south Korea under the pretext of staging an exercise aimed to familiarize themselves with terrain conditions in case of contingency on the Korean peninsula. Minju Joson Wednesday in a signed commentary carried in this regard says:
This is an open challenge to the Korean people and the rest of the world people desirous of peace and reunification of Korea.
The U.S. plan to bring the squadron into south Korea at a time when Ulji Focus Lens-04 is at its height there goes to prove that the U.S. moves for a war of aggression against the DPRK have reached a reckless and adventurous phase.
The U.S. moves for a new war should not be overlooked. It is self-evident that should the U.S. ignite a war on the Korean peninsula against the DPRK, it will lead to a nuclear war and then the Koreans in the north and the south will suffer from it.
It is a sheer delusion of the U.S. to try to stifle the DPRK by force of arms. The U.S. would be well advised to properly understand who its rival is and stop such arms buildup and withdraw all its forces of aggression from south Korea.
The south Korean authorities should ponder over the consequences to be entailed by their traitorous act of bringing foreign aggressors with nuclear clubs into south Korea.

Powerful Anti-imperialist, Revolutionary Force in Independence Era

Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- Fortythree years have passed since the Non-aligned Movement was founded on September 1, 1961. The movement made its appearance, reflecting the demand of the world progressive people who were aspiring after independence and standing against domination, subjugation, aggression and war, at a time when the East-West confrontation became acute with the main focus on the two superpowers - the Soviet Union and the United States.
It, guided by the idea of independence against imperialism, and peace against war, has vigorously waged a struggle for achieving independence of countries and nations and safeguarding peace and security of the world, thus making a great contribution to the building of a just, peaceful and new world.
Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Choe Su Hon told KCNA that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, a member nation of the movement, has respected and strictly adhered to its principle and idea and exerted positive efforts to develop the movement and advance the independence cause of non-aligned and developing countries.
Especially, the DPRK, he continued, has done much towards frustrating the imperialists' moves to disintegrate the movement, strengthening the movement and accomplishing its cause.
After the Cold War came to an end, the U.S. has persistently tried to hold in check the trend of independence and peace and establish a unipolar world governed by it, clinging to the policy of strength in the international arena, he said, and went on:
As a result, complex events have taken place in different regions and confusion and uneasiness have been created in the world.
The present situation demands the Non-aligned Movement further augment its role as an independent political force and a mighty anti-imperialist revolutionary force of the independence era.
The non-aligned nations should give a fresh impetus to the movement so that it can fully perform its duty and mission. They should also invigorate the struggle for independence and peace against imperialism and war with concerted efforts.
The DPRK government will, as ever, remain true to the fundamental principle and idea of the movement and discharge its responsibility and role for the global independence and the development of the movement.
