Work of President Kim Il Sung Published in Italy

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung's famous work "10-Point Programme of the Great Unity of the Whole Nation for the Reunification of the Country" was published in booklet by the Group of Dialectical Materialists of Italy on August 10. The work, brought out on April 6, Juche 82 (1993), clarified principled issues related to the unity of the whole nation to build a unified state, independent, peaceful and neutral.

U.S. Plans to Deploy One More Air Force Unit in South Korea

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists are contemplating to deploy one home-based F-15E fighter squadron of the U.S. Air Force in south Korea, according to south Korean KBS. It will reportedly fly to south Korea next month to familiarize itself with the geographical features of the Korean peninsula and increase the capacity of flying missions in the event of contingency.
The U.S. imperialists recently worked out the new "operation plan 5027-04" and, to carry it into effect, are going through the motion of military "cutback" while steadily reinforcing their forces in south Korea with modern war tools and getting more feverish in the war moves.

Declaration on 60th Anniv. of Korea's Liberation Published in S. Korea

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- Civic and public organizations of south Korea on August 15 reportedly held a press conference in the Citizen's Park in front of Kwanghwamun and published their declaration on the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the country. The declaration underscored the need to put an end to the era of Cold War, division and dependence, achieve peace and reunification on the Korean peninsula and write finis to the unequal south Korea-U.S. relations.
It called for pooling the strength and wisdom of the nation to make a dramatic progress in the inter-Korean relations and open a new era of peace, reunification and independence.
The speakers at the press conference said the year 2005 in which falls the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the country should be greeted as a year of peace and reunification, the year of national reunification.
They stated that all the civic and public organizations would concentrate efforts on removing all forms of institutional mechanism hindering the peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula including the "Security Law" and the south Korea-U.S. "mutual defense treaty". For this, they said, all of them should intensify their solidarity struggle.

Japan Urged to Atone for Its Past Crimes

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- G. Debarajan, secretary of the Central Committee of the All-India Forward Bloc, in a statement made public on Aug.13 on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the liberation of Korea, said Japan can never evade its obligation to atone for its past crimes. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has the legitimate right to get apology and compensation from Japan for the forcible drafting and massacre of Koreans and its crimes related to the "comfort women" for the Imperial Japanese Army, he held. Recalling that the Japanese imperialists, after occupying Korea, robbed the Korean people of their national sovereignty and enforced a medieval repressive policy to reduce Korea to their eternal colony, he said:
Upwards of 8.4 million Koreans were taken to battlefields of a war of aggression and sites of hard labor and 200,000 women of them were forced to serve the Imperial Japanese Army as "comfort women."
So monstrous were the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists against the Korean people in destroying and looting a fabulous amount of material resources and cultural assets of all kinds and trying to exterminate the nation during their occupation of Korea.
Though nearly 60 years have passed since the defeat of Japan, the relations between the two countries have not been brought to normal. This is entirely attributable to Japan's hostile policy toward the DPRK.

Rally Held in S. Korea to Urge Implementation of Joint Declaration

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- At least 2,000 members of the Reunification Solidarity and the Reunification Vanguard of the South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon) reportedly held a rally for urging the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration at a university town in Seoul on August 14. Han Sang Ryol, permanent representative of the Reunification Solidarity, Paek Jong Ho, chairman of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), and other speakers at the rally denounced the frustration of the August 15 event common to the nation by the authorities as an anti-reunification, anti-national crime.
Noting that the "Security Law" and the U.S. imperialists were standing in the way of the meeting of the south and the north, they called for breaking the south Korea-U.S. alliance and achieving national alliance under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration.
A resolution was read out at the rally, which declared:
We will have the south Korea-U.S. alliance broken off and the SL torn up so that the label of "enemy-benefiting organization" can be removed from the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification, the South Headquarters of Pomchonghakryon, Hanchongryon and the South Korean Council of Youth Organizations and will certainly achieve the great unity of the whole nation, the major prerequisite to the implementation of the joint declaration.

Cuban Embassy Officials Visit International Children's Camp

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- Cuban Ambassador to the DPRK Esteban Lobaina Romero and embassy officials on August 18 visited the Songdowon International Children's Camp on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the July 26 armed uprising of the Cuban people. They went round various facilities of the camp, being briefed on the camp well built as a comprehensive extracurricular education centre for schoolchildren thanks to the noble outlook of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il on the younger generation.
After going round the camp the ambassador wrote in the visitor's book that he was deeply impressed by the schoolchildren spending happy days at the wonderful camp. The Songdowon International Children's Camp shows well what warm loving care Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il have shown to the children, he added.

S. Korean Authorities Accused of Scuttling Joint National Functions

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- The Headquarters of Koreans in Japan of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) issued a statement on August 15 to denounce the south Korean authorities for scuttling the joint national meeting to mark the 59th anniversary of the liberation of Korea ( August 15). The statement said that the south Korean authorities unjustly disallowed the participation of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon and the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification and the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils in the August 15 reunification functions, bringing the inter-Korean relations back to the phase of confrontation and chilling the ardent desire of the 70 million Koreans for reunification.
For the south Korean authorities to allow all the reunification movement organizations and figures supporting the June 15 joint declaration to participate in joint national functions without any restrictions serves as an important yardstick discerning the will to implement the joint declaration, the statement stressed.
It urged the south Korean authorities to apologize for a series of unsavory acts perpetrated by them recently and take immediate measures to prevent them in a bid to sincerely implement the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration for national cooperation and independent reunification from a firm national independent stand.

Foolish Dream of GNP under Fire

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- "Unification under the liberal democratic system" touted by the right-wing conservatives of the Grand National Party of south Korea is an anachronistic design of the anti-reunification elements who fail to face up to the reality. Minju Joson Thursday says this in a signed commentary.
    It goes on:
Their loud-mouthed "unification under the liberal democratic system" is an anti-national, anti-reunification assertion diametrically running counter to the basic spirit of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
The Koreans in the north and the south are working hard to implement the spirit of the declaration which calls for achieving national reconciliation, unity and reunification on the basis of recognizing each other's ideology and social system and tolerating them.
Those anti-reunification elements of the GNP are, however, revealing their ambition to "achieve unification by prevailing over communism" and realize "unification by absorption" while talking about "unification under the liberal democratic system" and calling for the "preservation of the nature of their system." This can not be but an intolerable challenge and provocation against the north.
The "preservation of the nature of the system" much vaunted by them as regards the policy toward the north, in the final analysis, means nothing but a vociferous call for hamstringing the implementation of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and bringing down the social system in the north in conspiracy with the United States.
The GNP group has cried out for a "reform" and "switchover in its policy" since the "National Assembly election" but it is no more than a deceptive slogan. There is no change in its disposition and nature.

U.S. Much Ado about "Illegal Manufacture of Nukes" Refuted

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- The Bush ruling quarters are making much ado about the "illegal manufacture of nuclear weapons" in the DPRK, Iran and some other countries after labeling those countries "rogue states" and "dangerous states". Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a signed article discloses the ulterior motive lurking behind their row.
    The article says:
The Bush regime's much publicized "illegal manufacture of nukes" by what it called dangerous states serves as a basis on which to work out a foreign military policy and its starting point of its military action. Herein lies a sinister intention of the U.S.
Those countries which the U.S. termed "dangerous states" and "rogue states" are independent countries opposed to it. The Bush ruling quarters are putting unprecedentedly strong military pressure upon those countries under the pretext of their "illegal production of nukes" and "proliferation of nuclear substance" while escalating its brigandish armed invasion and war of aggression worldwide under the signboard of the removal of a "threat".
The U.S. bellicose forces listed those countries as "states creating nuclear threats" and "sponsors of terrorism" not because those countries posed any real threat but because they were prompted by their aim to seize regions of military and strategic importance and realize their strategy for world domination, using those regions as a springboard.
The U.S. final goal of world supremacy is to weaken Russia and China, strong powers in the Euro-Asia continent, and put them under its control.
The U.S. seeks to swallow up the Korean peninsula, Iran, Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, strategic vantage points in the continent, in a bid to create military conditions favorable for attaining such strategic goal.
Another aim sought by the U.S. in this row is to secure an unchallenged nuclear edge and lord it over the world. It is working hard to deter the anti-U.S. independent countries from increasing their military capabilities for self-defence and disarm them under the pretext of not allowing the "illegal production of nukes" by the "rogue states" and "dangerous forces."
With no artifice can the Bush regime justify its criminal nuclear war policy.
The U.S. should stop its brazen-faced moves to realize its ambition for world domination with nukes under the signboard of holding in check "illegal production of nukes and proliferation of nuclear substance" by the above-said countries.
