Korea's Cause of Reunification Supported

Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, king of Nepal, when receiving the DPRK ambassador to the country who paid a farewell call on him on August 3, said he hoped that the north and the south of Korea would be reunified independently and peacefully by the efforts of the Korean people themselves, free from outside interference. Noting with pleasure that the friendly relations between the two countries had been developing on better terms in recent years, he expressed thanks to the government and people of the DPRK for supporting the Nepalese people, sincerely wishing Nepal sovereignty and national unity, peace and stability.
Meanwhile, Madav Kumar Nepal, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Nepal Communist Party (United Marxist-Leninist), when receiving the DPRK ambassador who paid a farewell call on him on August 2, said all the world progressive forces today were looking up to the DPRK and hoping that the Korean people would invariably defend socialism.

Remarks of Spokesman for U.S. State Department under Fire

Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the U.S. State Department recently cried that the U.S. had not withdrawn from the table the option including the use of strength, which was contradictory to the loud-mouthed words the U.S. is letting out to disguise itself as willing to solve peacefully the nuclear issue between it and the DPRK. Commenting on this, a news analyst of Rodong Sinmun today says:
We cannot but take a serious view of the remarks, considering they were uttered by an official figure speaking for the intention and stand of the U.S.
Dragging into light of day the real meaning of the "landmark proposal" laid by the U.S. before the 3rd round of the six-party talks, the analyst says:
It is only too clear why the U.S. is persistently sticking to its robber-like demand for the DPRK to drop its nuclear program first, failing to show an affirmative response to the latter's proposal which indicates the only way to solve the nuclear issue by stages. The reality makes it clear that it has not given up its scheme to mount a preemptive attack on the DPRK and there is no change at all in its policy to stifle the latter over the nuclear issue.
It will be mistaken if the U.S. thinks the "Libyan-style" solution to the nuclear issue will work on the DPRK. It is becoming all the clearer that the U.S. is going to stifle the DPRK with strength at any cost, not giving up its hostile policy toward the latter. Such being the situation, it is only too natural for the Korean People's Army and people to fully prepare themselves to counter that. They have no alternative but to continue increasing their physical deterrent force needed for self-defense.
The U.S. should stop its anachronistic hostile moves to stifle the DPRK, awakening from its foolish daydream.

U.S. Arms Buildup Assailed

Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification on August 5 reportedly issued a statement titled "U.S., promptly stop arms beefing up for a nuclear war". Recalling the recent announcement of the U.S. that it would deploy aircraft carrier John Stenis in the waters off the Korean peninsula in the middle of August, the statement said the carrier loaded with bombers and fighter planes equivalent in strength to the U.S. air force in south Korea and on a round-the-clock standby alert would play the role of an advance base in case of a war on the Korean peninsula.
    It went on:
Already deployed in south Korea are Striker armored cars, new-type Patriot missiles and Stealth fighter-bombers which the U.S. boasts of as ultra-modern weapons tested in the Iraqi war.
The Korean people should meet the U.S. head-on with a nationwide anti-U.S. and anti-war resistance. We will close the history of the U.S. forces' occupation and colonial rule over south Korea for the sake of peace on the Korean peninsula.
The U.S. should stop at once its arms buildup for a nuclear war.

Halt to Troop Dispatch Called for in S. Korea

Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- The Youth for Reunification, an organization supporting the South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification, reportedly issued a statement on August 4 calling upon the youth and students to turn out in the struggle for checking the troop dispatch to Iraq and achieving national cooperation. The statement said that the struggle against the troop dispatch to Iraq is a struggle for the peace and security of the world people and a struggle for the reunification of the Korean nation, adding the only way of judging the atrocities the U.S. forces have committed against the Korean people for the last 59 years is to fight for their withdrawal from south Korea.
The south Korean "government" has projected south Korea-U.S. cooperation, remaining utter indifferent to the desire of the people for national cooperation and reunification, and thus acted a de facto agent for the U.S., it noted, calling on the youth and students to turn out in the drive to frustrate the south Korea-U.S. cooperation and achieve national cooperation.
The youth and students in south Korea are aware that the nation can no longer live separated into two due to the U.S., it noted, and continued: We will not let the country's division last more than 60 years but join the reunification vanguard which dedicates youth to the struggle to drive the U.S. forces out of this land and devote ourselves to the struggle to check the troop dispatch to Iraq, foil the south Korea-U.S. cooperation, achieve national cooperation and force the U.S. forces out of south Korea.

Greetings to Singaporean President

Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Saturday sent a message of greetings to S. R. Nathan, president of Singapore, on its national day. Kim in the message wished the president greater success in his work for the prosperity and development of the country.

Halt to Moves against Reunification and Nation Urged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- The Reunification Solidarity of south Korea reportedly called a press conference in front of the building of the "government" in Seoul on August 4 denouncing the authorities for hamstringing the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration. Speeches were made there.
O Jong Ryol, permanent chairman of the National Alliance for Democracy and Reunification, accused the "government" authorities of throwing a stumbling block in the way of reconciliation and cooperation between the south and the north as evidenced by their action to disallow the visit of the south side's non-government delegation to Pyongyang and invoking the anachronistic "security law" to label patriotic organizations including the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification "enemy-benefiting organizations" and intensify the crackdown upon pro-reunification patriotic figures.
Demanding the "government" stop at once the moves against reunification and the nation, he called upon all the patriotic forces to intensify the struggle for national unity so as to make the year 2005 marking the 60th anniversary of national liberation a year of reunification.
Mun Kyong Sik, chairman of the south Korean Federation of Peasants Associations, said the authorities are putting spurs to the cooperation with outside forces while sending troops to Iraq for the purpose of strengthening the south Korea-U.S. alliance. History will never tolerate this, he added.
An open letter to the authorities was read out at the conference.
The letter strongly demanded the authorities stop all acts contrary to the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration, opt for national cooperation, repeal the SL, an anti-reunification law, and immediately lift the "enemy-benefiting" label attached to patriotic organizations.

S. Korean Authorities Flailed for Forcing Troop Dispatch

Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland issued a statement Sunday as regards the additional troop dispatch forced by the south Korean authorities at last on August 3. It vehemently condemns the troop dispatch forced at a time when the south Korean people were opposed to it and the countries which had sent their troops to Iraq were all withdrawing them as an anti-national crime of driving home youths into the pitfall of death dug by the U.S. and an anti-peace and anti-human crime of joining the U.S. in the Iraqi war of aggression.
    It went on to say:
Such behavior of the south Korean authorities in putting the outsider's interests and the demand of the U.S. before the dignity and interests of the nation is only rousing the towering rage of all the Koreans.
It is necessary in south Korea to clearly see the flow of national history toward independence and peace, national cooperation and reunification and decisively break with the disgraceful past stained with pro-Americanism.
The south Korean authorities, heeding the demand of the south Korean people and the whole nation, should make a bold decision to stop additionally sending troops to Iraq and withdraw without delay all the troops and equipment already dispatched to Iraq, oppose the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK and force the U.S. to withdraw its troops from south Korea.
The south Korean people from all walks of life should turn out in a more vigorous struggle for independence against the U.S. to put an end to the U.S. military occupation and colonial rule and decisively frustrate the anti-national acts of the pro-U.S. treacherous forces.

U.S. New War Scenario under Fire

Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- The U.S. bellicose forces in conspiracy with the south Korean military recently worked out a fresh "operation plan 5027-04" in which their previous war scenario against the DPRK has been put into specific perfect shape. Rodong Sinmun Monday in a signed commentary carried in this connection observes: The keynote of this four-phase operation plan is as follows: The "combined forces" consisting of 18 divisions of the U.S. forces present in south Korea and the south Korean army "build a defense line" on the western front before "combined task units" conduct "operations for harassing the rear" through "air strikes at the areas of the north side." Then the U.S. third armored army corps is hurled into actions under the "plan for reinforcing the U.S. forces in the wartime" and, at the same time, they start "full-dress northern expedition" and the south Korea-U.S. "combined marine corps" land on the east and west coastal areas to form "the second front" and "encircle and seize Pyongyang".
The danger of this war scenario lies in that the operation plan involves blitz tactics of mobilizing ultra-modern military equipment and small armed forces, the Rumsfeld-style conception of war touted by the Bush regime.
What must not go unnoticed is that the U.S. imperialist warhawks are focusing this scenario on the "operation for internally destabilizing" the DPRK.
All facts go to clearly prove that the U.S. imperialists are seeking to achieve their aggressive aim to mount a surprise attack on the DPRK and conclude a war through blitz warfare.
The U.S. is pushing forward in real earnest the relocation of its forces and their reduction and transfer of their bases in south Korea.
It is well known that the U.S. farce of "reducing" its forces is always followed by aggression and war.
The U.S. is massively introducing all types of up-to-date weapons and operational equipment into south Korea after drastically increasing the military spending of 11 billion U.S. dollars called for by the "plan for bolstering its forces in south Korea to 13 billion. At the instigation of the U.S. imperialists, the south Korean military bellicose forces are hell-bent on the moves for confrontation and war with the north as evidenced by their drastic increase of military expenditure, madcap arms buildup and military provocations on the West Sea.
The bellicose elements had better stop acting rashly. Any mode of war will prove futile and the aggressors should not expect any mercy in face of the DPRK's war deterrent force it has built, pursuant to the Songun politics to reliably defend the peace and security on the Korean peninsula.

Old Earthen Steamers Unearthed in DPRK

Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- Two earthen steamers were discovered at sites of houses in the Neolithic era, relics in Masan-ri of Pongsan County, North Hwanghae Province, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. They, which are believed to date back to 7,000 years ago, were unearthed at Nos.5 and 21 of 12 house sites belonging to the middle of the Neolithic era.
They were made by mixing clay with asbestos. They show well the traditional features of the culture of the Pyongyang area in the Neolithic era. Each steamer has a hole 2.5 to 3 centimeters in diameter in the center of the bottom.
Most of the upper part of the steamer discovered at No.21 site was broken.
But the height of the remaining part is 8.4 centimeters and its mouth 16.8 centimeters in diameter.
With many earthen steamers unearthed in house sites belonging to the Bronze Age, it was believed in the country that steamers had begun to be used from the Bronze Age.
But the latest discovery proves that Koreans had used steamers in their dietary life from the middle of the Neolithic era, 2,000 years earlier than the Bronze Age, and that agriculture and other production activities were on a high level in the era.
It also proves that the fine folk traditions of the Korean people were established and material and cultural conditions created in the areas centering around Pyongyang, the capital of Tangun's Korea, the first ancient state.

Kefir Shops in Pyongyang

Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- More than ten goat milk kefir shops and their branches have made their appearance in Pyongyang recently. They serve kefir and other milk goods produced by the Goat Farm in Kangdong County, Pyongyang, roasted goat meat and national dishes.
They have dining halls and rooms and modern meat roasters.
Ryu Myong Hak, manager of the Kefir Shop in Puksong-dong, Phyongchon District, told KCNA that kefir and roasted goat meat are served to citizens on a regular basis and various kinds of milk goods are supplied to different units.
Stockbreeding farms equipped with milk processing facilities have been built in different parts of the country including Hamhung, Haeju, Sariwon and Kusong.
