In the statement he highly praised the feats of the President who devoted his all to the freedom and happiness of the people, the prosperity of the country and the victory of the cause of global independence and socialism.

Kim Il Sung led the revolution and construction straight to victory without the slightest error and deviation in shaping line and policies, breaking through manifold difficulties in the whole course of his revolutionary activities, he said, and continued:
He defeated two formidable imperialisms, put forward the people as the master of the country and led the social revolution of the two stages, two rounds of rehabilitation and construction and socialist construction of different stages to a brilliant victory, thus building a strong socialist county independent, self-supporting and self-reliant in national defence and setting a shining example of creation and construction.
The revolutionary cause started by the President is being brilliantly carried forward by leader Kim Jong Il. Kim Il Sung will always live in the hearts of mankind as the sun of Juche along with the prosperity of the country.

U.S. Arms Buildup Castigated in S. Korea

Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification reportedly released a statement on July 7. The U.S. has introduced F-117 Stealth fighter bombers into south Korea to stage a large-scale war exercise, which clearly proves that the war scenario of the U.S. which listed the DPRK as the next target of its preemptive attack after Iraq, is being put into practice, the statement said, and continued:
Unpardonable is the U.S. criminal move to ignite a nuclear war against the north in the Korean peninsula at any cost quite contrary to the will and desire of the Korean nation at a time when the spirit of national reconciliation and great unity is increasing after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration.
Our youth and students will conduct a more vigorous struggle against the U.S. and war to resolutely frustrate the U.S. adventurous moves for arms buildup to ignite a nuclear war on the Korean peninsula and drive the U.S. troops, the root cause of aggression and war, out of south Korea.

Moves to Revive Fascist System Denounced in S. Korea

Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Korean Association for the Study of Human Rights gave the following answer to a question put by KCNA on Saturday as regards the protest of the ultra right conservative forces including the Grand National Party against the decision made by the south Korean Committee for Proving the Truth behind the Suspected Incident that three former unconverted long-term prisoners of south Korea made contribution to the movement for democracy and died in prison while fighting against the scheme to force "ideological conversion" in the period of the military fascist dictatorship. Ultra-right conservative forces of south Korea including the GNP and the Association of Reservists charged the decision with a behavior of shaking the liberal democratic system and law and order. They let loose such string of vituperation that they can never remain a passive onlooker in case the decision that a state organ recognized those out of legal frame as persons of merit under the "security law" is not withdrawn. Moreover, they openly exerted violence upon those organizations and personages supporting the decision.
The spokesman dismissed this as an unpardonable move to justify and revive such criminal acts as harassing human rights and democracy and inciting distrust, antagonism and confrontation among the Koreans in the period of the military fascist dictatorship as it is a behavior to measure the reality of the new era with the old ruler used in the past era of confrontation.
The unconverted long-term prisoners whom the ultra-right conservative forces of south Korea including the GNP called to account are the most tragic sufferers of human rights violation in the 20th century who sustained all sorts of inhuman maltreatment and suppression and even miserable death behind bars for over 3 or 4 decades for the mere reason that they did not convert their idea and faith, he said, adding it admits no argument that their struggle is intended to protect their idea and faith, rights and democracy against fascist suppression.
This crime is all the more grave as it invoked the SL which defines fellow countrymen as "enemy" at a time when all the Koreans are going in for independent reunification by their concerted efforts after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, the spokesman said, stressing that those going against the trend of the times, turning their back on public mindset will face a shameful doom.

S. Korean Authorities Denounced for Blocking Participation in@Memorial Function

Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- The Reunification Solidarity of south Korea for the Implementation of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration and Peace in the Korean Peninsula reportedly released a statement on July 8 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the demise of President Kim Il Sung. Recalling that in 1994 when the President passed away all of a sudden, the then Kim Yong Sam's "government" pursued the extreme confrontation policy towards the north such as the "emergency alert order" and the oppression of the reunification movement, the statement denounced the present government for blocking the south side's public figures from participating in the memorial function held in the north on the occasion.
There is no doubt that though the south side's public figures failed to participate in the memorial function due to the authorities' suppression, the unity of all the fellow countrymen in the south and the north and overseas will be more solid through the thorough implementation of the joint declaration in the future.

Repeal of SOFA Demanded

Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- The U.S. troops, who harass peace and obstruct Korea's reunification, should be driven out of south Korea without fail and the "south Korea-U.S. Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA)" scrapped without delay in the era after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration when the ardent desire of the people for the new has become the trend of the times and a wide avenue for independent reunification is being paved by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation, said a spokesman for the National Democratic Front of south Korea in a statement on Friday 38 years after the signing of the SOFA (July 9, 1966). This brigandish agreement has forced tens of thousands of innocent women and other civilians in south Korea to fall victim to murder, rape and plunder committed by bestial groups of GIs and it has turned into a hell on earth plagued by their crimes, the statement noted, and continued:
The unpardonable crimes committed by the man-hunting GIs have been openly connived at and encouraged under this traitorous document called SOFA in south Korea.
The south Koreans can never pardon the U.S. imperialist aggression troops who have imposed unbearable misfortune and pain upon them for scores of years, staying there, and SOFA justifying their outrageous practices.
What the south Korean people demand is the immediate and total withdrawal of the south Korea-based U.S. troops, the typical leftover of the old and the root cause of all sorts of crimes, and the repeal of all the shackling agreements including SOFA.
The NDFSK will join the people from all walks of life in their vigorous anti-U.S. struggle for independence to build a new and independent society without the U.S. aggression troops.

Birth Anniversary of Kim Hyong Jik Observed

Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- Papers Saturday here editorially observe the 110th birth anniversary of Kim Hyong Jik, an indomitable revolutionary fighter. Rodong Sinmun says: Kim Hyong Jik, born into the patriotic family of Mangyongdae for generations on July 10, 1894, devoted all his life to the independence of the country and the victory of the proletarian revolution.
He formed the Korean National Association and made a switchover in the anti-Japanese national liberation movement in Korea from the nationalist movement to the proletarian revolution. This was a historic event that brought earlier the dawn of the Korean revolution.
The idea of Jiwon and the noble revolutionary legacy bequeathed by Kim Hyong Jik to the Korean people have been successfully carried forward by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il generation after generation and they are displaying great vitality even in the new century. The President led the 20 year-long arduous anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to victory, true to the noble idea of Jiwon and thus accomplished the historical cause of Korean liberation so ardently desired by Kim Hyong Jik. The President turned the DPRK into a powerful country, independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence, with his ever-victorious seasoned leadership.
The idea of Jiwon and the noble revolutionary legacy are given steady continuity and shedding brilliant rays thanks to Kim Jong Il.
Kim Hyong Jik's idea of Jiwon and exploits are shining more brilliantly in the march in the new century under the banner of Songun.
The idea has been successfully carried forward on the basis of the Juche idea of the President and is displaying its tremendous vitality generation after generation, guided by the Songun idea of Kim Jong Il.
Minju Joson notes that no force on earth can bar the army and people of the DPRK from struggling with the noble idea of Jiwon and faith in certain victory which Kim Hyong Jik implanted into the Korean people as the soul of the nation and a maxim in their life and final victory is in store for them.

S. Korean Authorities Denounced for Blocking Visit of Del. to North

Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Reconciliation Council issued a statement Friday denouncing the south Korean authorities for their inhuman action taken to disallow a south Korean non-governmental delegation to visit Pyongyang to pay homage to President Kim Il Sung on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of his demise. The statement says:
The south Korean authorities took such a rash action as refusing to permit the visit of the delegation to Pyongyang, after putting a brake on it. They perpetrated such thrice-cursed hideous crime in defiance of the ancestral moral ethics, the crime which may drive the inter-Korean relations to the phase of severance and confrontation, just as the "civilian government" did ten years ago.
This is a rude and immoral behavior in view of the precedents because south Korean personages of various circles so far visited the statue of the President and paid respectful homage to him while staying in Pyongyang.
Such inhuman crime was committed in the era after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, the era of "By our nation itself." This clearly indicates that though they are talking about "reconciliation" and "cooperation" their real intention is to fundamentally negate the system in the north, still regarding it as their enemy, just as they did in the period before the publication of the declaration.
As already well known, the north, feeling painful at the misfortunes that hit south Korea, observed necessary etiquette and fulfilled its obligations as part of the same nation.
South Korea committed such an action as breaking the good precedents of the exchange of visits of personages between the north and the south, trampling down upon the good manners and customs of the nation and violating the elementary morality, as soon as a new "prime minister" and "minister of Unification" took office. This compels the north to worry about the possible serious impact this absolutely unreasonable action will have on the future visits between the north and the south and the overall inter-Korean relations.
A severe judgment will surely be meted out to those who blocked the visit of the delegation to the north in violation of the moral ethics

Historical Relics Unearthed in Kaesong

Kaesong, July 9 (KCNA) --At least 30 historical relics and remains dating back to the period of Koryo were unearthed in Kaesong recently. Typical of them are stone Buddhist images, a three-storey round shape pagoda, a stone on which a castle in Mt. Taehung is carved, a Koryo celadon and a brass bowl.
The 2.2 m-high stone Buddhist image was carved 35 cm from a cliff north of Taehung Temple, Pakyon-ri, Kaesong. It is so deep in its relievo that it looks like a statue.
The stone image is characterized by a groove, 20 cm in width, 13 cm in height and 10 cm in depth, on the head of the Buddha, the first of its kind to be found in Kaesong.
The three-storey round shape pagoda in Unhung Temple which dates back to the period of Koryo was discovered at the foot of Mt. Songgo in Pakyon-ri, Kaesong. Originally it had stood on four cornerstones and slabs put on a natural rock. But it was found destroyed when discovered.
Lotuses were carved in relievo on a round stone on the top of the pagoda.
The first-storey stone was 1.2 m in diameter and 25 cm in thickness while the third-story one 40 cm in diameter and 20 cm in thickness.
The pagoda is believed to be about 3 m high.
It draws the attention of the experts as it has a round shape roof though the stone pagodas so far known in Korea had square shape roofs.
A Koryo celadon kettle, 11.3 cm in height and 15.6 cm in diameter, is simple in its pattern and peculiar in its shape.
New findings lotus-patterned flower vase and other porcelains are very instrumental in academic studies for their shape, color and patterns peculiar to Koryo celadon.

U.S. Foreign Policy Bound to Go Bust

Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- All aspects of the Iraqi war started by the U.S. shrouded in the mists are being disclosed one after another with each passing day to draw the attention of the international community, says Minju Joson Saturday in a signed commentary. It goes on: The results of the investigation made by the "Commission for Investigating the September 11, 2001 Terror Attacks," an independent investigation organ in the U.S., proved that the assertion of the Bush administration that Saddam's regime in Iraq cooperated with Al-Qaeda was a sheer lie and fabrication.
But the Bush administration, showing a sensitive reaction to the report made by the commission, insisted the day after the publication of its results that there were contacts between Iraq and Al-Qaeda. It, however, has failed so far to produce any concrete evidence proving its assertion.
Public opinions dismissed this as a clumsy attempt of the Bush administration to justify its war crimes and evade its responsibility for them.
Some time ago, Hans Blix, former chairman of the UN MOVIC, also said at a press conference that the Iraqi war was illegal to all intents and purposes.
It is the political faith of the Bush warlike forces not to rule out even the use of military equipment, nuclear preemptive attack, in particular, with a view to establishing its domination over the world.
The U.S. is persistently pursuing its policy to stifle the DPRK, spreading "the nuclear and missile threat from north Korea" in a bid to dominate Northeast Asia.
It is as foolish an act as trying to sweep the sea with a broom for the U.S. to attempt to stifle the DPRK as it has not yet settled its difficult situation in Iraq.
The U.S. is well advised to ponder over the miserable consequences to be entailed by its wrong foreign policy.
