U.S Double Standards over Nuclear Issue under Fire in Uganda

Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- A joint statement was issued on May 7 by the Ugandan National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, the Uganda-DPRK Friendship Association, the Ugandan National Youth Council and the Ugandan National Women's Council in denunciation of the U.S double standards over the nuclear issue. Accusing the U.S. of applying double standards over the nuclear issue, the statement said that it is zealously patronizing and conniving at Israel's possession of a lot of nuclear weapons while taking issue with those countries incurring its displeasure.
Assailing the U.S. for spreading lies about the nuclear issue in a bid to destroy socialism in the DPRK, the statement strongly demanded the U.S. stop such action at once.

Rodong Sinmun on U.S. Persistent Anti-DPRK Moves

Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is working hard to defame the authority and image of the DPRK by attaching the label of "terrorist sponsor" to it, while persistently pursuing a hostile policy toward it. This is as foolish an act as lifting an axe only to drop it on one's own feet. Rodong Sinmun says this in a commentary Wednesday.
    The news analyst continues:
The U.S. Department of State recently released an "2003 annual report on terrorism", in which it listed again some countries including the DPRK as "sponsors of terrorism" and even brought forward the "issue of abducted Japanese" to obtain a lever to put pressure upon the DPRK.
The "issue of kidnapped Japanese" over which the U.S. is making quite a noise is the one between the DPRK and Japan which was already solved through the publication of the Pyongyang declaration between the two countries and, therefore, it is none of its business. Nevertheless, the U.S. is trying to internationalize it and egging Japan, a junior ally, on to continue to kick up dust over the "abduction issue" to gain greater effect. This proves that as long as the U.S. pursues the hostile policy toward the DPRK, it would cook up other case than the "abduction issue" to attach the label of terrorism to the DPRK and justify its moves to internationally isolate the latter.
It reminds us of a thief crying "Stop the thief!" that the U.S., the world's biggest terrorist sponsor and the kingpin of terrorism, groundlessly brands the innocent DPRK as a "sponsor of terrorism." It aims to intensify the moves to stifle the DPRK in keeping the latter on the list of "sponsors of terrorism."
If the U.S. remains obstinate in branding the DPRK as a "sponsor of terrorism", it will only throw a more glaring light on its robber-like nature, impudence and baseness as the hotbed and root cause of terrorism.
The U.S. would be well advised to mind its own business.

Vehement Anti-U.S. Struggle Urged

Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is the common enemy and target of struggle of the Korean nation as it maliciously bars the Koreans' just cause of independence, peace and reunification and imposes immeasurable pains and sufferings upon them, says Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a signed article. Calling on the whole nation to definitely build a structure of Korean nation's confrontation with the U.S. through such practical actions as a daring nation-wide anti-U.S. joint struggle, the article goes on:
A touch-and-go tension in the true sense of the word is persisting in Korea due to the U.S. imperialists' reckless moves to start a war against the DPRK under the pretext of the nuclear issue. Unavoidable is the confrontation between the Koreans in the north and the south, who are advancing along the road of peace and peaceful reunification, and the U.S. which is working to block it.
The U.S. military occupation of south Korea has caused unaccountable misfortunes and disasters. It is a false propaganda to claim that the U.S. is a "friendly country" and an "ally" of south Korea.
In fact, the U.S. has brought disgrace, humiliation and disaster to south Korea. And one of the causes of the economic difficulties the DPRK is now undergoing is attributable to the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK and its moves to isolate and stifle the latter.
The key to consolidating peace, removing the difficulties in the way of reunification and achieving continued progress and victory lies in practically building a structure of the Korean nation's confrontation with the U.S.
The whole Korean nation should hold ever higher the banner of national independence set forth in the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration to form a nation-wide front of anti-U.S. joint struggle and raise a storm of the anti-U.S. struggle and thus discharge its responsibility for the history and the generations to come.

Renegotiation on Transfer of U.S. Military Base from Ryongsan Urged

Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification in south Korea reportedly held a ceremony of disbanding the sit-in group for urging a stop to the humiliating negotiation on the transfer of Ryongsan base and a total renegotiation in front of the government building on May 8. At the ceremony Permanent Representative of the organization Hong Kun Su and other speakers said that the eighth consultative meeting of the south Korea-U.S. alliance future policy initiative failed to reach an agreement on the transfer of the U.S. military base from Ryongsan due to the active struggle of civic and public organizations.
They reviewed the sit-in struggle of nearly two weeks and declared that they would wage the second struggle till a total renegotiation on the transfer of the U.S. military base from Ryongsan is held.
A resolution of struggle read out at the ceremony stressed that the organization would certainly check the humiliating negotiation and keep the spirit of self-respect of the people by waging an all people's struggle against the sycophantic attitude of the government acceding to the U.S. unilateral demand.

Tanks Moving Exercise Announced in S. Korea

Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- The Metropolitan Defence Command of the south Korean army announced Monday that it would conduct tanks moving exercise in West Gate and Unphyong Districts, Seoul, and in Kwachon, Kyonggi Province on May 11, 14 and 15, according to the south Korean MBC. The south Korean military said it is an annual exercise to increase the rapid movement capacity of tank forces on road in case of emergency.

U.S. Plan to Erect "Monument" Flailed

Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Democratic Front of South Korea issued a statement on May 10 denouncing the U.S. hypocritical plan to build a "memorial monument in Rogun-ri", according to internet site of Kuguk Jonson. On July 25, 1950, the Fifth Cavalry Regiment of the U.S. First Cavalry Division, while fleeing, deceived more than 400 defenceless civilians and refugees of Yongdong County, North Chungchong Province, into seeking "safety" in a tunnel in Rogun-ri and fired machine guns at them, brutally killing them.
The U.S. imperialist aggression forces committed shuddering murder in the period of the Korean war and have perpetrated innumerable crimes such as killing, rape, and violence since the ceasefire, the statement said, adding:
However, they have never frankly admitted or apologized for their crimes.
    It went on:
The U.S. plan to erect "a monument" in Rogun-ri reminds us of a robber who broke into a house and, after lacerating the host, says he would pay a silent tribute to the victim.
Even the word "apology", let alone "residents of Rogun-ri" and "murder of civilians", is not to be found in the epitaph.
This is nothing but a deceptive farce to cover up the atrocities and calm down the anti-U.S. sentiments daily growing in this land.
The "monument" is not a "cenotaph" to console the soul of the victims, but a distinct "monument to murder."
It is a big mistake, if the U.S. thinks that it can lull the pent-up grudges of the Korean people and their anti-U.S. sentiments growing in the era of the June 15 joint declaration with a cheap jugglery.
The Korean nation will remember through generations the shocking murder committed by the U.S. and will force it to pay for that a thousand times.

U.S. Anti-DPRK Smear Operation Assailed

Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- The Korean Committee for Aiding Overseas Compatriots issued a statement on May 12 in which it dismissed the U.S. anti-DPRK smear campaign under the cloak of "defence of human rights" as a grave encroachment upon the dignity and sovereignty of the DPRK and a vicious plot to stamp out overseas Koreans' confidence in and yearning for the man-centered Korean style socialist system. It is clearly proved by the fact that the U.S. some time ago staged a farce of "the day of freedom in north Korea" in Washington and, by raking up a few reactionaries in the Korean community and human scum who fled after committing crimes in the DPRK., held "a news conference of north Korean defectors" and "a protest against the human rights abuses in north Korea," the statement says, and goes on:
This is a very sinister and despicable smear operation as it is intended to justify Washington's hostile policy toward the DPRK by inciting hostility toward it and, furthermore, arrest the forceful march of Koreans toward reconciliation and reunification through national cooperation.
It can not but be a despicable act for misleading public opinion at home and abroad and fooling the world people to say this or that about the human rights performance in the DPRK. This reminds one of a thief crying "stop thief!" as the U.S. is the world's biggest human rights abuser.
The U.S. should clearly face up to the desire of the Korean nation and the trend of the times dynamically advancing toward independent reunification under the uplifted banner of the June 15 joint declaration and immediately stop its reckless anti-DPRK smear operation.
We strongly appeal to all the Koreans abroad to foil the U.S. domination, interference and scheming to stifle the DPRK by national cooperation in conformity with the idea of "by our nation itself" and turn out in a vigorous patriotic struggle to usher in a new era of building a great prosperous powerful reunified nation.

Japan's Ultra-right Gangsters' Violence against Koreas in Japan Assailed

Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary denounces Japan's ultra-right gangsters for making no scruple of committing outrages against organizations of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and Koreans in Japan. Branding this as an unpardonable crime of those captive to the idea hostile to the DPRK and national chauvinism, the news analyst says: Japan's ultra-right gangsters dare slander Chongryon, an inviolable overseas citizens' organization of the DPRK, and commit violence against Koreans in Japan, posing a serious threat to their personal safety:
From April 9 to 17 alone, Japan's ultra-right gangsters committed four cases of grave violence, in which they tore chima and jogori of Korean girl students in tram cars and pushed them to roll down station stairs, inflicting wounds on them in Tokyo metropolis.
An unbroken chain of violence against Koreans in Japan cannot be regarded otherwise than grave political provocations committed with the connivance and patronage of the Japanese government and acts to intentionally worsen the hostile relations between the DPRK and Japan.
Japanese gangsters' violent crimes against Koreans in Japan are hostile acts against the DPRK which are committed on the extension line of the scheme to stage a comeback to Korea. The times have changed, but the aggressive consciousness and ambition of the Japanese militarists to dominate Korea remain unchanged.
Japanese reactionary ruling quarters' visits to Yasukuni Shrine, their moves to retrogressively revise the constitution and rearrange "emergency legislation," their arms buildup and scheme to send troops overseas bring into a bolder relief the revival of Japanese militarism and its danger. It is in no way good to Japan to stimulate the revengeful thought of the People's Army and people of the DPRK by piling up double and treble crimes in its crime-woven history of aggression through its frenzied hostile policy toward the DPRK.
Japanese ruling quarters must not connive at and patronize the violence of the ultra-right gangsters against Chongryon organizations and Koreans in Japan but discontinue their reckless acts of driving the hostile relations with the DPRK to extremes.

Meari Shooting Range

Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- The Meari Shooting Range at the sports village in Kwangbok Street, Pyongyang, is visited by citizens, tourists and foreigners every day. Visitors shoot with rifles and pistols at the outdoor and indoor ranges and play amusement games at entertainment halls including billiard rooms and pinball parlors.
Chief Vice-Chairman Ho Jong Man and Vice-Chairman Kwon Sun Hwi of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), and members of several Chongryon delegations, the vice-president of the Republic of Zimbabwe, the special envoy of the president of the Republic of Angola, former Defence Minister of the U.S.S.R. Yazov, Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Andrei Karlov, the British ambassador to the DPRK and many foreigners visited the range to have a good time.
Over 3,200 foreigners and tens of thousands of local people visited the range from January Juche 89 (2000) to the end of Juche 92 (2003).

U.S. Dangerous Moves for Missile Defence System under Fire

Pyongyang, May12 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Defense Department, which recently decided to deploy nearly 10 interceptor missiles by the end of this year, is going full steam ahead for its materialization. Minju Joson today carries a signed commentary in this regard, which says:
The U.S. frantic moves to establish the Missile Defence System (MD) is aimed at realizing its ambition for world domination by seizing military superiority worldwide, not at defence as it claims.
It is clearly proved by the fact that the warlike forces of the U.S. recently decided to deploy two battalions of the latest interceptor missile PAC in south Korea allegedly to cope with the missile attack from the DPRK this year and sought to sound out Japan on its intention to deploy radar for the purpose of averting missiles.
The DPRK is closely watching the U.S. frantic MD moves with high vigilance.
The DPRK can never remain a passive on-looker to the U.S. undisguised moves to stifle it by force of arms and realize the wild ambition for world domination under the pretext of the non-existent "threat of missile attack" from it.
Option is not the monopoly of the U.S. The U.S. had better ponder over the grave consequences to be entailed by its mistaken option.
If the U.S. persistently keeps going for MD for aggression despite the warnings of the DPRK, that would be as foolish as jumping into fire with faggots on its back. Milk spilled can never be collected again.
