Pomminryon Denounces "Spy Case" Cooked Up by S. Korean Judicial Authorities

Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the North Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) issued a statement Monday denouncing the south Korean judicial authorities for charging Min Kyong U, pro-reunification patriot, with "espionage" by invoking the "Security Law." Some days ago, the south Korean judicial authorities demanded 10 years in prison and the same term of suspension of qualification for Min Kyong U, secretary general of the Reunification Solidarity, on a charge of violation of the article on "espionage" of this law.
Min is a pro-reunification patriot who has devotedly worked to hold joint reunification functions of the nation and realize cooperation and exchange between the organizations of various circles in the north and the south, maintaining working contacts with the Joint Secretariat in the capacity of the secretary general of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon, he noted, and continued:
The south Korean judicial authorities found no fault with others who visited Pyongyang or had communication with the north but unreasonably linked only Min to it in a far-fetched manner to cook up another "spy case" which was possible in the era of the Cold War only. This is an extremely grave provocation to the north as it is a vicious anti-north plot of the ultra-right conservative forces marginalized by the strong trend of history.
The North Headquarters of Pomminryon cannot but consider the metal and physical pain the south Korean authorities have imposed on Min, unreasonably linking him to the north, as a serious challenge to it and this compels it to comprehensively reexamine its relations of cooperation with the south organizations in order to prevent south Koreans from falling victim to the SL any longer.
If the south Korean authorities do not release Min despite the unanimous opposition of the fellow countrymen but sentence him to a penalty, refusing to face up to the present trend of the times, they will be held wholly accountable for all the ensuing consequences.

S. Korean Unionists Declare Their Fighting Target

Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The (south) Korean Confederation of Trade Unions called a press conference on May 1 on the occasion of May Day and made public a press release.
It is the time for the workers to come out in the struggle with a new determination, the press release said, stressing that the present fighting target is the withdrawal of the decision on troop dispatch to Iraq, the repeal of discrimination against part-time workers, opposition to the "free trade agreement" and stop to structural readjustment.
    The press release went on:
It is the fighting target of the KCTU to build a world where workers may work independently and creatively to suit their ability free from discrimination, a world where the old and the weak may live in peace and a beautiful world where people respect and help each other peacefully without the threat of a war.
Our demand is at least to relieve the populace of misery and prevent this land from being involved in war holocaust. To this end we will do our best for dialogue and negotiation, but if there is no success we will wage a resolute struggle representing the general will of unionists and people.

U.S. Slammed for Shutting Its Eyes to Israel's Nuclear Program

Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The whole picture and inside story of Israel's nuclear weaponization has recently been brought to light by Israeli nuclear scientist Banunu. Commenting on this, a news analyst of Rodong Sinmun today says:
Israel has long pushed forward nuclear armament, but it has never been called into question. It was because the U.S. connived at and defended this and actively cooperated with Israel in its nuclear program.
The testimonies of Banunu irrefutably prove that Israel is a belligerent state and a terrorist sponsor threatening peace and security in Middle East and other part of the world by systematically developing nuclear weapons and possessing them and the U.S. has all along overlooked and encouraged its nuclear armament and state terrorism for the mere reason that it is its ally.
The U.S. connivance, patronage and cooperation with regard to Israel's nuclear armament glaringly reveal its unfair and unjustifiable double-faced nature and double standards in the issue of nuclear non-proliferation.
The height of absurdity of the double standards applied by the U.S. finds its vivid manifestation in its act of taking issue with fictitious enriched uranium of the DPRK.
If alliance with the U.S. is the yardstick in deciding the stand toward the nuclear weapons, the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty would be a good-for-nothing dead letter and there would be neither need for nor any meaning in it.
Israel's possession of nuclear weapons is mainly attributable to the U.S. tacit connivance and cooperation. On the contrary, the DPRK's possession of nuclear deterrent is mainly attributable to the nuclear threat posed by the U.S.
The U.S. double standards whereby it connives at, defends and encourages Israel's nuclear armament while trying to force the DPRK to disarm itself, taking issue with its just measure for building up nuclear deterrent for self-defence, indicate that its double-sidedness and shamelessness have been carried into extremes.
If the U.S. is truly interested in the settlement of the nuclear issue, it should demand Israel dismantle nuclear weapons and, at the same time, drop its hostile policy to stifle the DPRK. This would be a fair measure and would be beneficial to a solution to the nuclear issue.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Hosts Reception

Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- A reception was hosted Monday by visiting Indonesian Foreign Minister Nur Hassan Wirayuda on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic tie between the DPRK and Indonesia. The foreign minister said in his speech that the Indonesian people have always attached importance to the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries and the four decades old relations were a peculiar one.

I am honored to note that the friendly relations established by President Sukarno and President Kim Il Sung 40 years ago have been inherited by leader Kim Jong Il and President Megawati Soekarnoputri.
The Indonesian government is paying deep attention to the development of the current situation in the DPRK and wishes the Korean people greater success in the work for settling the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula and achieving the peaceful reunification of the country in the future under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.
Indonesia will always stand behind the DPRK as its close friend, he stated.
DPRK Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun said in his speech that the two peoples have consistently expanded and developed the friendly and cooperative relations in different fields such as politics, economy and culture on the principles of sovereignty, independence and non-alignment after the establishment of diplomatic relations.

We will make positive efforts in the future to develop the traditional friendly and cooperative relations with Indonesia.

Anti-U.S. Friday Rally Held in S. Korea

A resolution read out at the rally said the Koreans are well aware that the force threatening peace on the Korean peninsula is the U.S. It declared that the Korean nation will strengthen national cooperation against the U.S., not yielding to any threat posed by it, and decisively thwart and foil its moves for a nuclear war.
If the U.S. dares start a war, it will only invite its self-destruction, the resolution warned, urging it to wake from its foolish dream at an early date and take sincere stand and approach toward the settlement of the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula.
