Anti-U.S., Anti-War Meeting for Peace Held

Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- The 15th anti-U.S., anti-war Friday meeting for preserving peace was held in front of the U.S. embassy in Seoul on March 5 under the sponsorship of the Headquarters of the Anti-U.S., Anti-War Movement for Urging the Conclusion of the Nonaggression Treaty between North Korea and U.S. Kwon O Hon, chairman of the Association for Assisting the Prisoners of Conscience of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy and other speakers at the meeting said that the responsibility for the unsuccessful six-way talks rests with the U.S. and called for checking the U.S. policy for world supremacy through national cooperation.
A resolution read out at the meeting said that the U.S. insincere approach towards the six-way talks despite its talk about "negotiated solution" and "peaceful settlement" is aimed to gain time and step up its preparations for a war.
If the U.S. is to find a peaceful solution to the nuclear problem on the Korean peninsula, it should drop, to begin with, its hostile policy towards the DPRK, it added.

Six-way Talks Proves Ineffective Owing to U.S. Insincerity

Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- The chairman of the Group for the Study of the Exploits of the Three Generals of Mt. Paektu in Democratic Congo in a press statement on March 3 stressed that the six-way talks have proved ineffective owing to the insincere attitude of the U.S. At the six-way talks on the DPRK-U.S. nuclear issue held in Beijing from February 25 to 28 the U.S. baffled the great expectation of the peace-loving people of the world, he said, and went on:
The DPRK showed most magnanimity, announcing its will to give up its nuclear program according to its proposal for a simultaneous package solution. However, the U.S. insisted again on its assertion that the DPRK should scrap its nuclear program first. In addition, the U.S. made missiles, conventional armed forces, biological and chemical weapons, human rights and others subject to certain conditions.
Any further talks will prove fruitless as long as the U.S. is seeking to overthrow the socialist system of the DPRK.

Japan's Adoption of Amendment to Law on Foreign Exchange Flailed

Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- The secretary general of the Bangladesh Union of Agricultural Workers, in a statement to the press on February 28 denounced Japan for passing through its lower house the "amendment to the law on foreign exchange" stipulating that sanctions may be imposed upon the DPRK without any UN resolution or international agreement. Lurking behind Japan's codifying sanctions against the DPRK, pursuant to the U.S. hostile policy toward it, is the sinister intention to isolate and stifle the socialist system of the DPRK, the statement said, and went on:
The impudent act of Japan is an outrageous breach of international law; it goes against the aspiration and desire of all the progressives of the world for independence, peace, reconciliation and cooperation and it is a grave act of encroaching upon the DPRK's sovereignty in total violation of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration.
Such developments will drive peace and security in Northeast Asia to a catastrophic phase and screw up to a higher pitch of tension the situation on the Korean peninsula which is already strained over the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the United States.
The statement strongly demanded the Japanese government withdraw the "amendment to the law on foreign exchange" without delay and, at the same time, implement the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration, looking straight into the realities today.
We will stand foursquare in support of all the countermeasures taken by the DPRK government to defend its sovereignty, it contended.

Kim Jong Il's Great Personality Praised

Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- Members of the State Academy Ensemble of the Ministry of Interior of Russia on a performance tour of the DPRK expressed deep impressions of the noble traits of leader Kim Jong Il as a great man who is possessed of distinguished political capacity, extraordinary leadership ability and warm love for the country and the nation. Igor Shustikov, deputy head of the ensemble, after visiting the Revolutionary Museum of the Ministry of Culture, said the literature and art of Korea have reached a high phase under the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il. He is a genius of art who has brought a great turn in the development of Korean literature and art, he added.
Actress Natalia Kurganskaya, who is well known to the Korean people for her successful presentation of the immortal famous song "Dear General, Where Are You", said she liked this song loved by the Korean people and its melody is immensely expressive as befits the most famous song.
She said she was struck with wonders when she learned that it was created by Kim Jong Il. Seeing the audience overwhelmed with deepest longing for him while hearing this song reverberating from the stage, I could keenly feel their boundless trust in their leader.
Anatoli Lazhuk, general director of dance, said there are many famous generals in the world but he had not heard a story that the head of state of a country went out to the front and planted a tree. Kim Jong Il inspected a unit of the Korean People's Army and planted a tree and I can hardly repress admiration at his ardent patriotism, he added.
The world has never seen such a peerless patriot loving the country and the nation as Kim Jong Il does, he said, adding: I was deeply impressed by his great personality.

Revision of Law on Probing Truth behind Pro-Japanese Treachery Called for

Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- The South Korean Federation of University Student Councils and the "National Federation of University Woman Student Councils" reportedly issued a joint statement on March 5 denouncing the passage of the bill patronizing the pro-Japanese elements through the "National Assembly". Recalling that a special bill that calls for probing the truth behind the pro-Japanese acts of treachery committed during the Japanese imperialists' rule over Korea was passed through the session of the NA on March 2 to be reduced to rags, the statement said:
It contains certain points which may be abused for protecting the pro-Japanese elements, not for eliminating them. In fact, it should be called a "law on checking the probe into the truth behind the pro-Japanese acts of treachery".
Calling for the total revision of the law on probing the truth behind the pro-Japanese acts of treachery without fail, the statement said: To this end, it is necessary to judge the "Grand National Party", the group of the pro-Japanese forces, which is dominating the NA and branding patriots as "reds" in the forthcoming NA election.

Woman Workers' Meeting Held in S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), the Democratic Workers' Party, the "National People's Solidarity" and the "National Woman Peasants Association" in south Korea reportedly held a meeting of woman workers for victory in the general election and the abolition of discrimination in Seoul on March 6 on the occasion of the International Women's Day. Ri Su Ho, chairman of the KCTU, in an address said that women, though weak, should not be subject to discrimination. The KCTU will positively strive for the women's participation in politics, he added.
Choe Sun Yong, deputy representative of the Democratic Workers' Party, said that the woman workers work for long hours for small wages but they are subject to discrimination. Working women should be given an opportunity to enter the "National Assembly" if the discrimination against the women is to be terminated, she noted.
At the end of the meeting an inaugural ceremony of a group for women's politics of the KCTU was held.
A declaration was read out at the meeting. It said that the day of the April general election will be a day of victory of workers, peasants and common people as they will put an end to the corrupt politics, and a day when women workers who, excluded from politics, have been subject to all sorts of discrimination, will get awakened politically and participate in politics.
The declaration stressed the need to realize the political reform and expose the deplorable conditions of woman workers in the name of the women and workers and struggle for their improvement.

Dissolution of Conservative and Corrupt "National Assembly" Called for

Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- The Headquarters of the General Election Movement for the Judgment of Outdated Politics on Behalf of the June 15 Era reportedly held "a ceremony of starting a people's action to judge the conservative and corrupt National Assembly and bring about new politics and a new NA" in Seoul on March 5 and entered into full-scale activities. Present at the ceremony were members of civic and public organizations including the Reunification Solidarity, the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration and the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification and students under the Seoul District Federation of General Student Councils.
The political situation is going beyond control due to corrupt politicians, the speakers said, calling for shaping the destiny of the nation with a certain victory in the April general election.
The "National Assembly" should be converted into one for the people, a democratic one through a fundamental reorganisation of the political structure, they said, urging the people to vote down all the politicians of the conservative and corrupt political parties and vote for democratic candidates."
Ro Su Ik, co-head of the action group of the headquarters, in a declaration read out by him accused the National Assembly of failing to adopt even a law related to politics to realize new politics with the general election drawing near. It said that the April general election will turn out to be a confrontation between the new politics and old one.
The participants in the ceremony shouted slogans "Judge the conservative and corrupt 'National Assembly!" "Let's win new 'National Assembly', new politics!" etc. holding red warning placards in their hands.
Meanwhile, Son Jun Hyok, a spokesman for the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration, on March 6 made public a letter of protest titled "We oppose moves for impeachment. Dissolve the 16th-term 'National Assembly'".
The letter said it is ridiculous to talk about the "impeachment against the president" spearheaded by the "Grand National Party" and supported by the "Democratic Party" as its stooge at a time when the political camp is in the grip of destruction on the threshold of the 17th-term general election.
The 16th-term "National Assembly," chiefly responsible for the political crisis and the deterioration of the people's living should immediately stop its moves for such impeachment and opt for its self-dissolution as they remind one of a thief turning on the master with a club. the letter stressed.

KCNA Terms U.S. Worst Violator of Human Rights

Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- The United States styling itself "an international judge of human rights" is rejected and censured by various countries of the world for its human rights abuses. This is because it is none other than the U.S. which is most savagely violating human rights worldwide.
A clear proof of this is the Iraqi war committed by the U.S. under the pretext of a "threat of weapons of mass destruction"(WMD) and its subsequent developments.
On the basis of false information the United States had imposed sanctions and pressure upon Iraq and made indiscriminate air raids on it over the last ten-odd years, driving many inhabitants there to starvation, poverty, diseases and death. Last year it committed a total war of aggression against Iraq at last defying the opposition of not only the United Nations but its allies.
In the war the U.S. massively used up-to-date WMD, killing a large number of innocent Iraqis.
The U.S. troops used about 1,700 tons of depleted uranium bombs in the war, though it is condemned worldwide for being another type of nuke, just as it did in the Persian Gulf War in 1991 and the wars in Bosnia, Kosovo and Afghanistan. In consequence, many Iraqis were indiscriminately killed or wounded, all parts of the country were contaminated with radioactive substance and leukemia, lung cancer and various other incurable diseases broke out among its inhabitants.
The U.S. inhumane sanctions against Iraq and massacres are criminal acts breaching international law on human rights. The convention on prevention and punishment of massacre stipulates that it is the mass killing to kill members of the collective, inflict serious physical and mental damage upon them and deliberately force the living conditions which may bring a total or partial physical destruction to the collective. The international convention on economic, social and cultural rights also stipulates that one cannot deprive people of their means of existence in any case.
However, the U.S. violated and obliterated the national sovereignty and people's right to existence, the basic human rights, in a bid to monopolize the oil resources in Mideast including Iraq.
The U.S. is keen to install a pro-U.S. regime under the pretext of "rebuilding Iraq" in a bid to establish a safe monopoly on the oil interests. Such plot is likely to bring bigger disasters to the state of Iraq and the nation in the days ahead.
What is happening in Iraq, the focus of the world's attention, goes to prove that the U.S. should be brought to a trial of human rights for its most hideous human rights abuses.

The performances of the ensemble marked an important occasion in further developing the friendly relations between the DPRK and Russia which are growing stronger as the days go by under the deep concern of leader Kim Jong Il and President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and in boosting the ties of friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

Spokesman for DPRK FM Denounces U.S. Reckless Stand at Six-way Talks

Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea today issued a statement to the press denouncing the Bush administration for having recently spread a rumor about the six-way talks held in Beijing in late February in a bid to deceive the international community. @He said:
The United States is advertising that the six-way talks achieved a "success" in a bid to calm down the bitter domestic and foreign criticism of its act of hamstringing the settlement of the nuclear issue and prevent an atmosphere unfavorable to the forthcoming presidential election from being created.
The recent talks could not yield any results due to the fundamental difference between the DPRK and the U.S. in their stands. The U.S. talked about "talks without any precondition" whenever an opportunity presented itself. But at the recent talks the U.S. only repeated the assertion that "the DPRK should scrap its nuclear program first" with which it came out at the tripartite talks and the six-way talks held last year, refusing to show any will to make a switchover in its policy.
This irresponsible attitude and remarks on the part of the U.S. side clearly proved that it is not willing to co-exist with the DPRK and its earlier suggestions to discus and settle the nuclear issue through the six-way talks and hold the bilateral talks, too, within the framework of the six-way talks are nothing but jugglery devoid of any will to make a policy switchover.
Such being a hard fact, the U.S. is still repeating the VICD, a demand that can be forced upon criminals only. It is, indeed, embarrassing and disgusting to hear that.
If the U.S. is so fond of using the phraseology of VICD, it should commit itself to completely drop its hostile policy towards the DPRK in a verifiable and irreversible manner.
The U.S. persistent insistence on the repudiated VICD is aimed to force the DPRK to completely halt even its nuclear activity for a peaceful purpose, a legitimate right of a sovereign state.
Refuting the groundless accusation made by the U.S. against the DPRK over "enriched uranium program," he said the DPRK has never admitted it. The U.S. far-fetched assertion about this program is intended to attack the DPRK under that pretext just as it did against Iraq, he noted, and continued:
The U.S. reckless stance only pushes the DPRK to further increase its nuclear deterrent force.
It is not intended to find a negotiated solution to the issue but to achieve its ulterior aim, wasting time. This delay does nothing bad to the DPRK as it will have time to take more necessary steps with increased pace.
The U.S. would be most seriously mistaken if it calculated that the same would happen in the DPRK as what did in Iraq, turning away from its stand, he warned. .
