CPRF Issues Indictment

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland issued a lengthy indictment on March 6, denouncing the transfer of the U.S. military bases in south Korea pursuant to the U.S. policy to launch a war of aggression against the DPRK as a very dangerous move to reinforce those bases to meet its strategic and greedy interests. The indictment, which was released at a time when the U.S. is placing on the order of the day the issue of transferring the U.S. military bases in south Korea under the pretext of the "relocation" of the U.S. troops, asserted that there is neither reason nor pretext for the U.S. to keep those bases in south Korea.
It roundly exposed the true essence and the purpose of the bases of the U.S. troops who have brought unspeakable misfortune and sufferings to the Korean nation, remaining in the south side of the Korean peninsula like poisonous thorns for nearly 60 years under the signboards of "security" and "peace".
According to the indictment, the U.S. military bases in south Korea are densest in the world and a military centre involving the three services.
    The indictment continues:
The U.S. has at least 90 military bases of all sorts throughout south Korea from the joint security area of Panmunjom to the Mosulpho air force base in Jeju Island.
The U.S. bases are the principal place of Yankees whose essential attributes are murder, arson, plunder and destruction and the rendezvous of mercenary soldiers.
They have brought immeasurable material and economic damage to south Korea. They have not only inflicted human and material damage on south Korea but served as a center widely disseminating corrupt Yankee culture.
Those bases are the inviolable entities that the U.S. occupation forces are given absolute privilege.
The U.S. forced south Korea to sign "agreements" which legally allow it to use south Korean land for an indefinite period free of charge and furthermore, makes south Korea pay directly or indirectly tens of billions of U.S. dollars a year for the upkeep of those bases and facilities.
These bases are considered "kingdoms of darkness" where all the crimes of U.S. troops are covered and backed and the security of criminals is guaranteed.
All sorts of crimes committed by the U.S. troops in south Korea number 5 cases on a daily average and the number of those reported so far stands at more than 270,000 cases.
The U.S. military bases in south Korea are bases for aggression and war wearing the veil of "peace."
Those bases serve as local tools implementing the U.S. policy for the war of aggression against the DPRK and vantage points of military strategic importance for attacking and invading the DPRK any moment.
They also serve as forward bases of war supplies for the war of aggression against the DPRK.
Deployed in those bases are nuclear weapons, depleted uranium shells, N-bombs and other weapons of mass destruction that gravely threaten human lives.
The U.S. forces bases in south Korea also play a role of a scout unit for the aggression of the DPRK including espionage and military provocation.
The U.S. frantic moves to transfer its military bases in south Korea are aimed to step up and finally round off its preparations for the aggression of the DPRK.
Those bases are look-out posts for the perpetuation of national division which militarily back the U.S. policy of perpetuating the division of Korea.
As a strong trend for reconciliation, unity and reunification between the north and the south of Korea has come after the publication of the historic June 15 joint declaration, the U.S. has overtly and covertly worked to check it.
The U.S. bases in south Korea are the biggest powder magazines in Far East that have been deployed according to the U.S. strategy to put Asia under its domination.
Stockpiled in those bases are all types of military equipment including thousands of tactical nuclear weapons, many depleted uranium shells, all types of aircraft including F-16 and F-15 fighters, means for carrying nukes, and hundreds of Lance, Patriot and other missiles and atomic artillery pieces.
Those are aimed to invade not only north Korea but other parts of Asia.
As long as the U.S. military bases, powder magazines in the East, continue to exist in south Korea, a war by the U.S. to loot Asia is unavoidable in the new century. A war is the matter of time.
There is neither reason nor pretext for the U.S. to keep its military bases in south Korea. Their presence in south Korea is illegal and unlawful. Their presence diametrically runs counter to the resolution of the UN General Assembly on withdrawing the U.S. troops from south Korea.
The U.S. will never escape a shameful fate of being driven out south Korea, if it persistently seeks to keep its troops there.

U.S. Policy of Aggression against DPRK Flailed

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- The 25th Congress of the Communist Party of Norway adopted a statement titled "The Communist Party of Norway Extends Solidarity to the Struggle of the Korean People" on February 22. The U.S. policy of aggression against the DPRK is rendering the situation of the Korean peninsula extremely strained and laying a stumbling block in the struggle of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Korean people for socialism, the statement said, and stressed:
The U.S. is seeking to justify its policy of aggression against the DPRK under the pretext of putting an end to "terrorism", but it is a real terrorist act that the U.S. wantonly scrapped the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework, resorting to the tactics of pressure and blockade.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the Communist Party of Norway discussed the matter of developing relations with the Workers' Party of Korea several times during and after the congress.
The party leadership expressed its will to increase support for the WPK in its struggle to defend the sovereignty of the country and socialism and achieve national reunification and, at the same time, to make all efforts to develop cooperative relations between the two parties.

The U.S. announced a "report on human rights", timing to coincide with the six-way talks opening, which touched off astonishment and indignation, said the statement.
The human rights issue loudmouthed by the U.S. is an unequivocal war plot and CIA's fabrication and distortion of information, the statement noted, sternly castigating the Bush administration for its hostile policy toward the DPRK.
The statement strongly demanded in the name of all the fellow countrymen trying to achieve independent and peaceful reunification by our nation itself that the Bush administration, the root cause of war and the prime mover of human rights abuses, immediately renounce the "report on human rights" and withdraw U.S. troops from south Korea.

The Central Committee of the Czechoslovak Communist Party held an extraordinary enlarged meeting at which it disclosed the Japanese reactionaries' intention to strangle the DPRK economically at any cost and escalate economic pressure and blockade against it in league with the U.S. to this end.
Several political parties of Bangladesh including the Central Committee of the Workers' Party and Bangladeshi organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people held a rally protesting against the adoption of the "amendment to the law on foreign exchange" at the House of Representatives of Japan and adopted a protest letter addressed to the chief executive of Japan in which they urged the Japanese authorities to stop their moves against the DPRK and opt to improve relations with it.

GNP's Traitorous Behavior Condemned

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland released information bulletin No. 861 on March 5 as regards the recent behavior of the south Korean "Grand National Party" that once again revealed its true colors as a heinous group of traitors to the nation. The information bulletin said:
At the session of the south Korean "National Assembly" held on March 2, a "bill for probe into the truth behind the case of killings of civilians" during the Korean war was not approved due to the opposition of the "GNP".
This was an unpardonable criminal act of challenging the unanimous call of the whole nation for laying bare the unprecedented massacre of civilians committed by the U.S. imperialist aggressors and the south Korean army during the last Korean war and forcing them to pay a thousand times for the blood shed by the victims.
The U.S. imperialist aggressors brutally killed more than 1.24 million innocent civilians in south Korea and at least three million people in the northern part of Korea with the most barbarous method during the Korean war.
The movement for probing the truth behind the case of mass killings of civilians during the Korean war now brisk in south Korea is a very just patriotic one as it is an expression of the spirit of national independence and a patriotic determination to force the U.S. imperialists to pay for all the crimes committed against the Korean people and defend the national dignity and sovereignty.
The GNP is hell-bent on pro-U.S. sycophantic and treacherous acts while unhesitatingly telling rubbish that "south Koreans'chanting anti-U.S. slogans would harm the national interests." It is quite natural for the south Korean people to rise up in the campaign for the dissolution of the "GNP," branding it as a "party of traitors" and "a foreign party."
The south Korean people can never realize their aspiration and desire as long as the "GNP" is allowed to go scot-free.

North Side's Principled Stand on Upcoming NAE in S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland issued a statement Saturday clarifying the north side's principled stand that the National Assembly election due in mid-April in south Korea should offer an occasion of punishing the Grand National Party and eliminating it from the political arena. The statement disclosed the GNP's anti-national and anti-reunification criminal acts, saying that the present NA has been converted into a den of evil as it dominates this law-making body, regarding it as its barracks. The GNP whitewashes and conceals its pro-U.S. treacherous acts, anti-reunification moves and all sorts of corruption and irregularities there, it added.
    The statement continued:
The upcoming election should not be just a contest for more seats but acute confrontation between patriotism and treachery, between reunification forces and separatist forces, between peace and war and between democracy and fascism.
The candidates from this disgusting and dirty party should be voted down to put an end to its existence.
A due attention should be paid to the ridiculous efforts of the GNP to create the impression that its appearance will change through a "shake-up". The GNP would be well advised to drop its art of camouflage and quit the political arena of its own accord.
The statement expressed the conviction that all the parties, groupings and people of different social standings in south Korea would form a united front against the GNP and cast not a single ballot for it with a high degree of awareness.

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA Unit 272 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led Seventh Regiment. He was accompanied by KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee.
He first went to a tree nursery of the unit to see a long-term plan to create forests and acquaint himself with tree planting.
He highly praised the successes made by the unit, greatly pleased to learn that it has built a tree nursing base under a long-term plan and its servicepersons and their families have turned out as one in tree planting, thus turning the compound of the barracks and the area around it into a thick woodland in a few years.
Then he climbed a mountain behind the barracks where tree planting was brisk and planted a tree together with servicepersons of the unit.
After the tree planting he dropped in at an operation command room where he received a report on the situation from its commander and learned in detail about its performance of duty.
He set forth important tasks which would serve as guidelines in further increasing the unit's combat capability, greatly satisfied over the fact that its servicepersons are reliably standing guard over the defence line of the country with a noble patriotic determination to firmly defend the socialist motherland by force of arms.
He watched its servicepersons under training.
He highly praised all officers and men for their success in training, greatly pleased to learn that they have been trained as a-match-for-hundred officers and men fully capable of undertaking combat duties under any circumstances.
He familiarized himself in detail with the political and ideological education among servicepersons, looking round a servicemen's hall and a room devoted to the history of the unit.
He indicated tasks to further deepen and develop the political work in the army and ways to do so, highly praising the unit for fully applying the anti-Japanese guerrilla style of political work and conducting an effective ideological work among its servicepersons.
Then he took deep care of the service and living of soldiers, going round an education room, bedroom, mess hall, subsidiary food store, outdoor resting place and other places.
He highly appreciated the successes made by the officers and men of the unit, very pleased with the fact that they are assiduously managing the unit and tenaciously leading its economic life by learning from the anti-Japanese guerrillas' fighting traits and way of living.
He gave servicepersons of the unit a pair of binoculars and an automatic rifle as gifts before having a photo session with them.
