Just Cause of Korean People Hailed

     Pyongyang, January 14 (KCNA) -- A political report at a meeting of the General Council of the World Federation of Democratic Youth held in Cyprus on January 5 and 6 extended support to the just cause of the Korean people to defend peace in the Korean peninsula, achieve independent and peaceful reunification of the country in the spirit of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and protect the sovereignty of the nation. A resolution on the peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula adopted at the meeting denounced the Bush administration's hostile policy toward the DPRK as anachronistic.
    The resolution stressed:
    The World Federation of Democratic Youth, considering the DPRK government's statement on withdrawing from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty to be a just self-defensive measure for defending the sovereignty of the nation, holds that the nuclear issue should be resolved in a peaceful way through talks.
    The WFDY, considering the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration to be a milestone for independent and peaceful reunification of Korea, extends full support and solidarity to the Korean people and youth in their struggle to achieve the reunification of the country by the concerted efforts of the nation at an early date.
    We strongly hold that the United States, responsible for the division of Korea, should not disturb the process of inter-Korean reconciliation and cooperation but do something helpful to the reunification of Korea and immediately withdraw its armed forces fromsouth Korea.
    The WFDY action program for this year adopted at the meeting called upon all its affiliated organizations as regards the solidarity movement in the June 25-July 27 month of international solidarity with the Korean people to intensify pressure upon the U.S. to give up its hostile policy toward the DPRK and ensure peace and stability of the Korean peninsula by means of dialogue and negotiation.

Joint New Year Editorial Hailed Abroad

     Pyongyang, January 14 (KCNA) -- The Latin American Institute of the Juche Idea, the Costa Rican Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification, the Costa Rica-Korea Friendship and Cultural Association and the Costa Rican Institute of the Juche Idea made public a joint statement on January 6 in support of the joint New Year editorial of the DPRK newspapers Rodong Sinmun, Josoninmingun and Chongnyonjonwi. Expressing full support and solidarity with all the stands and ways of the DPRK clarified in the joint editorial, the joint statement said:
    We evince full support to the appeal of the joint editorial calling upon all Koreans in the north, the south and overseas to hold high the banner of their nation-first spirit and promote the cause of national reunification on the principle of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity along the road indicated by the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and, at the same time, to put into reality the structure of the Korean nation versus the U.S. confrontation in the struggle for securing peace on the Korean peninsula and achieving national reunification.
    We extend full support and solidarity to the Korean people in their valiant struggle to achieve the dignity and prosperity of the nation, peace and reunification, upholding Songun politics.
    We express full support to the principled stand of the DPRK to settle the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. in a peaceful way through dialogue in defiance of the aggression policy and arbitrariness of the Bush administration.

U.S. Arms Buildup Assailed

     Pyongyang, January 14 (KCNA) -- A rally of workers took place at the Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Plant on Jan. 13 to denounce the U.S. imperialists' moves to provoke a nuclear war against the DPRK. At the meeting a statement issued by a spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland disclosing the U.S. imperialists' arms buildup was read out to be followed by workers' speeches.
    They accused the U.S. imperialist war maniacs of massively shipping into south Korea mass destruction weapons including latest weapons tested in the wars of aggression in Iraq and Afghanistan and thereby rendering the situation in Korea to the brink of a war.
    This clearly proves that the U.S. talk about a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue is nothing but hypocrisy and there is no change in its aggressive ambition to stifle the DPRK by force of arms, they noted, bitterly condemning the U.S. imperialist aggressors for working hard to impose a holocaust of a nuclear war upon the Korean nation.
    They stressed that all the workers will beat the drum of the Songun revolution at their working sites, holding a rifle in one hand and a hammer in the other, and thoroughly implement the militant tasks set forth by the Workers' Party of Korea in the joint New Year editorial and thus frustrate the U.S. imperialists' moves for a war of aggression by bringing about a new leap forward in building a great prosperous powerful nation.

GNP's Desperate Efforts Ridiculed

     Pyongyang, January 14 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Grand National Party's talk about securing majority seats in the general election is an undisguised challenge to the people and it will only give momentum to the struggle for its dissolution, says Minju Joson today in a signed commentary. The commentary goes on:
    The GNP has committed innumerable crimes before the nation even since it was driven out of the power. It, therefore, has no right to talk about the "general election."
    It is the ulterior intention of the party to win back power, revive the fascist dictatorship, keep south Korea as a permanent dependency of the U.S., block the country's reunification and wallow in luxury.
    In a word, the party is a den of human trash as it leaves no means untried to go back to the past, insisting on everything outdated. It is impossible to open up a new era of independence, democracy and reunification as long as the GNP is allowed to go back to subordination, fascism and division.
    The far-sighted people are now bolting the party. The desperate efforts on the part of the GNP clan under this situation are futile as they are nothing but frenzy of those on the deathbed.
    The GNP had better stop imprudently talking about the general election but apologize to the nation for its crimes and dismantle the party as demanded by the people.

Anti-U.S. Rally in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, January 14 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification reportedly held a rally at Dongguk University on Jan. 9 to win a victory in the Korean nation's confrontation with the U.S. The chairman of the South Headquarters addressing the rally referred to the anti-U.S. patriotic hunger strike against the troop dispatch to Iraq that had been under way in front of the "National Assembly" building for 30 days since December 11 last year,adding it is a nationwide anti-U.S. struggle to stop the troop dispatch.
    The 70 million Koreans, be they in the south, the north or abroad, should devote themselves to defending and implementing the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration and wage a vigorous struggle to defend the dignity and the sovereignty of the nation upholding the banner of the Korean nation-first spirit, he urged.
    He underscored the need for the south and the north to cooperate with each other to foil the U.S. war moves and its economic aggression.
    A performance on the theme of anti-U.S. actions was given at the rally.
    The strikers clarified their will to continue the strike until their goals are attained.

Students Enjoy Winter Vacation in DPRK

     Pyongyang, January 14 (KCNA) -- The students of schools of all levels are enjoying winter vacation in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. A large number of pupils visit the Pyongyang Schoolchildren's Palace, the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace, the "250-mile Journey for Learning" Schoolchildren's Palace and other extra-curricular centers in different parts of the country every day. They participate in various circle activities there according to their taste and aptitude while consolidating what they learned.
    School youth league and children's union organizations are sponsoring various kinds of activities -- visit to revolutionary battle and historic sites, sessions for introducing experience of excellent pupils and seminars on books, round-table talks with heroes of the Republic and information activities for increased production and better construction.
    Schoolchildren of Ryanggang and North Hamgyong provinces are making a march along snow-covered roads and visit to revolutionary battle and historic sites to get a good knowledge of the glorious revolutionary history of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and build up their physical strength and mind.
    At the meeting with Hero of the Republic Yang Phan Gi, who distinguished himself in the battle on Kachil Peak during the Fatherland Liberation War, schoolchildren of Pyongyang firmly resolved to join the army to defend the socialist fatherland.

Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Unit

     Pyongyang, January 14 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA Unit 4428. After receiving a salute, he learned in detail about the unit's performance of duty.
    He set forth important tasks which would serve as guidelines in further increasing the combat capability of the unit, greatly satisfied to learn that the servicepersons of the unit have fully acquired the Juche-oriented war method of the Party through constant combat and political training and are reliably standing guard over the defense line of the country with the firm patriotic determination to resolutely safeguard the socialist homeland with arms.
    He took warm care of their service and life, looking round a servicemen's hall, education room, bedroom, mess, washroom, daily provision store and other places.
    He praised the efforts made by the commanding officers of the unit, greatly pleased to know that they have built excellent entertainment and logistic facilities by fully applying the anti-Japanese guerrilla style of managing the unit and they are taking warm care of the soldiers as they do their kith and kin.
    He underscored the need for the commanding officers to pay deep attention to the supply service at all times, saying that it is one of the important undertakings to boost the combat capability to provide the soldiers with good living conditions.
    He gave servicepersons of the unit a pair of binoculars, a machine-gun and an automatic rifle as gifts, before having a photograph taken with them.

     Pyongyang, 14 de enero (ATCC) -- En Corea los alumnos de las escuelas a todos los niveles pasan con alegria las vacaciones invernales. En los Palacios de Ninos y Escolares de Pyongyang, Mangyongdae y "Paeumui Chollikil" y en otras bases de educacion extraescolar en distintos lugares del pais, muchos alumnos asimilan sus conocimientos ya aprendidos y participan en diversas actividades de grupos segun sus aficiones y aptitudes. Las organizaciones de la Union de la Juventud y la Union de los Ninos de las escuelas organizan variadas labores, entre otras, el recorrido por los antiguos lugares de batalla e historicos de la revolucion, los actos para exponer las experiencias de los sobresalientes y presentar impresiones de los libros leidos, encuentros con los Heroes de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea y otras actividades de agitacion economica.
    A traves de la marcha por el camino cubierto de nieve y los recorridos por los antiguos lugares de batalla e historicos de la revolucion, los estudiantes de las provincias de Ryanggang y de Hamgyong del Norte estudian gloriosas historias revolucionarias del Presidente Kim Il Sung y del Dirigente Kim Jong Il y forjan sus cuerpos y almas.
    Los ninos escolares de la ciudad de Pyongyang participaron en el encuentro con el Heroe de la RPDC Yang Phan Gi, quien realizo hazanas en la batalla del pico Kachil en el periodo de la pasada Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria, en el cual tomaron firme decision de hacerse militares del Ejercito Popular de Corea para defender la patria socialista.
    Mas de 15 mil estudiantes de mas de 10 institutos superiores de la misma ciudad libraron con varias formas y metodos actividades de agitacion economica en numerosas fabricas, empresas y granjas cooperativas, estimulando activamente a los obreros y trabajadores agricolas a la materializacion de las tareas presentadas en el editorial conjunto de los periodicos del partido, el ejercito y la juventud publicado con motivo del Ano Nuevo 2004.

Acto de decision de Direccion del Sur de la APRP

     Pyongyang, 14 de enero (ATCC) -- Segun una informacion, la Direccion del Sur de la Alianza Pannacional por la Reunificacion de la Patria (APRP) celebro el dia 9 en la Universidad Tongguk el "acto de decision por el triunfo en la confrontacion de la nacion coreana vs. EE.UU.". En la ocasion el presidente de la Direccion del Sur de la APRP, en su discurso, se refirio a que sigue por el trigesimo dia la huelga de hambre patriotica contra los yanquis y por la detencion del envio de efectivos a Iraq iniciada a partir del 11 de diciembre del ano pasado ante la sede de la "Asamblea Nacional" y senalo que esta huelga es la lucha antiyanqui de toda la nacion.
    Si son los integrantes de la nacion coreana independientemente de que habitan en el Sur y en el Norte del pais o en ultramar, deben dedicarse a la lucha por defender y ejecutar la Declaracion Conjunta Sur-Norte del 15 de Junio y los 70 millones de coreanos deben levantarse con audacia en la lucha por defender la dignidad y la soberania de la nacion enarbolando la bandera de dar prioridad a la nacion coreana en alto, subrayo.
    Anadio que a fin de frenar las maniobras de guerra y la agresion economica de EE.UU., el Sur y el Norte deben unirse solidamente con la cooperacion nacional.

Sesion del Consejo General de FMJD apoya justa causa del pueblo coreano

     Pyongyang, 14 de enero (ATCC) -- El informe politico rendido ante la sesion del Consejo General de la Federacion Mundial de la Juventud Democratica, efectuada los dias 5 y 6 en Chipre, expresa apoyo a la justa causa del pueblo coreano para preservar la paz de la Peninsula Coreana y la soberania nacional y realizar la reunificacion independiente y pacifica del pais conforme al espiritu de la Declaracion Conjunta Norte-Sur del 15 de Junio. La resolucion sobre la paz y la reunificacion de la Peninsula Coreana, aprobada en esta sesion, califica de anacronica la actual politica hostil de la administracion Bush a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, y continua:
    La FMJD demanda la solucion pacifica del problema nuclear a traves del dialogo, al considerar que la declaracion del gobierno de la RPDC sobre la retirada del Tratado de No Proliferacion Nuclear es una justa medida autodefensiva para salvaguardar la soberania nacional.
    Al reconocer que la Declaracion Conjunta Norte-Sur del 15 de Junio constituye un jalon para lograr la reunificacion independiente y pacifica de Corea, envia entero apoyo y solidaridad a la lucha del pueblo y la juventud de Corea por realizar cuanto antes este anhelo supremo con las fuerzas unidas de la nacion coreana.
    Demandamos energicamente a EE.UU., que es responsable de la division de Corea, a hacer cosas que favorezcan la reunificacion de la nacion coreana y retirar inmediatamente sus tropas agresoras del Sur de Corea en lugar de estorbar la reconciliacion y la cooperacion entre el Norte y el Sur.
    Por otra parte, el plan de actividades de la FMJD para este ano, aprobado tambien en la sesion, con motivo del movimiento de solidaridad por el mes de solidaridad internacional con el pueblo coreano del 25 de Junio al 27 de Julio, llama a todas sus filiales a ejercer la presion sobre EE.UU. de modo que este abandone su politica hostil a la RPDC y asegure la paz y la estabilidad de la Peninsula Coreana mediante las conversaciones y el dialogo.
