Functions Held in Different Countries

     Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- More functions were held in different countries on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 86th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war hero. A meeting was sponsored by the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia in Moscow on Dec. 16 to commemorate the two anniversaries.
    S. Z. Umalatova, chairperson of the party, in her speech said that only victory and glory are in store for the heroic KPA as it holds Kim Jong Il as its supreme commander, noting that in the last period he has significantly augmented the might of socialist Korea with his Songun politics, the ever-victorious treasured sword.
    Colonel General N. F. Kizyun, member of the Executive Committee of the party, in his speech said that Kim Jong Il is identical to President Kim Il Sung in the idea, leadership and virtue and the KPA is most fortunate to hold such general and marshal as its supreme commander.
    Major General A. I. Makhnach, member of the Executive Committee of the party, in his speech said that the noble revolutionary life of Kim Jong Suk serves as a textbook in the life and struggle of all the servicepersons of the KPA and the Korean people, noting that she is a great model of the spirit of devotedly defending the leader and devotedly carrying out his instructions.
    A message of greetings to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.
    Film shows were held by the Juche Philosophy Study Committee of India and a provincial committee of the South African Communist Party and in cities of Libya including Tripoli from Dec. 5 to 13.
    Screened at the film shows were Korean films "Holding Great Illustrious Commander in High Esteem", "The Korean People's Army, Steel-like Ranks", etc.
    Debabrata Biswas, general secretary of the Central Committee of the All-India Forward Bloc, in a statement on Dec. 10 said that Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the revolutionary armed forces of Korea was an event of historic significance in carrying out the cause of socialism.
    Lectures, book and photo exhibitions and film shows were held by the Indian Youth Group for the Study of Works of Comrade Kim Il Sung and in Poland and at the National Movie Centre in Egypt from Dec. 10 to 12 on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership.

South Korean Fascist Authorities' Suppression of Workers Denounced

     Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) in a statement on Dec. 20 bitterly denounced in the name of all its members the south Korean fascist authorities for having branded the struggle of the workers for the right to existence and their reunification movement as crimes and suppressed them since their coming to power. This repressive campaign launched by those who appeared in south Korea under the signboard of the "government for people" reminds one of the period of military fascist dictatorship, the statement said, and continued:
    The struggle of the south Korean workers for their right to existence is attributable to the corrupt politics in south Korea. In fact, it is none other than traitors such as the Grand National Party of south Korea who should be thrown into prison in chains.
    The south Korean fascist authorities should stop such acts provoking their dialogue partner and cracking down upon democratic forces for reunification. They should immediately release the arrested patriotic pro-reunification figures and participants in the labor movement.

Anti-US Solidarity Rally Held in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- The People's Action for the Revision of the Shackling South Korea-US "Status of Forces Agreement," The People Working for Peace and Reunification and the Headquarters of the Movement for the Return of the US Forces Base in Ryongsan and others reportedly held the 51st anti-US solidarity rally in front of the US embassy in Seoul on Dec. 16. Speakers at the rally recalled that national assemblymen from the Grand National Party of south Korea decided to implement their "resolution to check the transfer of the south Korea-US combined forces command and the UN forces command to the area south of the River Han.
    They demanded those legislators who are opposing their transfer, far from pushing for the return of the US forces base in Ryongsan and the cancellation of the plan to cover the expenses for the transfer quit south Korea at once.
    They also pointed out that in a recent opinion poll conducted on the issue of the construction of new US embassy premises and apartment houses through an Internet site 95 per cent of the respondents said no.
    They said that an emergency seminar on the negotiations on the transfer of the base would be held and an action would be undertaken to check the "National Assembly" ratification of the negotiations.
    They warned that they would brand those legislators supporting the resolution as sycophantic traitors and campaign for their defeat in the general election next year.

No Room for GNP to Stay

     Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- Political and other public circles in south Korea are now branding the Grand National Party as a criminal group putting Mafia into shade, a corruption-ridden political party and a group of thieves, etc. and strongly demanding its immediate dissolution and the punishment of its heavyweights. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed commentary.
    These developments are the inevitable result of so many scandals committed by the GNP group as its financial scams running into astronomical figures are being brought to light one after another though they claimed that they did not receive even a single penny during the presidential election last year, the commentary observes, and goes on:
    South Korea is still witnessing such tragic events in which the theory of "the principal enemy," a leftover of the era of the Cold War, is advocated and those personages who have contributed to the patriotic cause of reunification are being punished and meeting death under the draconic "Security Law." The ultra-right conservatives of the GNP are making desperate efforts to maintain the SL, arguing that something would happen immediately in its absence. Moreover, they are working with bloodshot eyes to suppress and stamp out the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils and other pro-reunification patriotic forces.
    All facts go to prove that the GNP is outdated in its political idea, habit, behaviour and methods and all other aspects and it is too anachronistic that there is no justification for it to belong to this era.
    The situation calls on the nation to rise up in a struggle for the immediate disbandment and elimination of such Cold War-minded conservative party and remnant forces of fascism as the GNP.
    The people from all walks of life in south Korea should come out as one in a movement for throwing overboard the GNP.

Kim Jong Suk's Noble View on Life Eulogized

     Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- It is the unanimous will of the army and people of the DPRK to accomplish the cause of Juche without fail, taking the noble view on life of Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war hero, as Kim Il Sung nation's permanent maxim and a mirror in life, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. The article goes on:
    It is honour to live or die while struggling for President Kim Il Sung. This was the core of Kim Jong Suk's view on life.
    Her revolutionary view on life was based on the strong charm of the greatness of Kim Il Sung.
    Her view on life, the revolutionary outlook on the leader being its core, served as an ideological and moral source that enabled her to glorify her life as a lifeguard most loyal to Kim Il Sung, woman general of Mt. Paektu and skilled political activist.
    Throughout her great life she taught by setting a brilliant example the truth that the leader represents the revolution and the motherland and it is the greatest honour for a revolutionary to devotedly defend the leader. This is a noble model our army and people should always follow.
    All our servicepersons and people can be true Songun revolutionary comrades who share destiny with Kim Jong Il only when they learn from her noble view on life and embody it in their struggle and life.
    They will regard the truth of a genuine life and noble traits as a revolutionary taught by Kim Jong Suk as a mirror in their life and remain true to the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il and thus surely accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche started in Mt. Paektu.

S. Korean Authorities Urged to Stop Suppressing Patriotic Figures

     Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- It is, indeed, deplorable that the south Korean authorities chime in with others without any principle, resort to the fascist suppression and incite north-south confrontation, thus strangling themselves, says Minju Joson today in a signed commentary. On December 18 the south Korean security authorities charged Ri Jong Rin, former honorary chairman of the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) and Min Kyong U, former secretary general, with espionage by invoking articles 4 and 5 of the "Security Law", the commentary says, and goes on:
    But it is said that due to the lack of any clear evidence proving their espionage, the authorities are now examining charges of violating articles 7, 8 and 9 of the SL.
    This clearly proves that the south Korean authorities are leaving no stone unturned in a bid to punish pro-reunification patriotic forces of Pomminryon.
    This action taken by the south Korean authorities can not be construed otherwise than open fascist suppression to invent a pretext for cracking down upon the South Headquarters of Pomminryon and putting a brake on the nationwide reunification movement.
    If the south Korean authorities keep suppressing pro-reunification patriotic forces as now, linking them with the DPRK, and standing in the way of this movement, it is as clear as noonday that the north-south relations are bound to go back to those of mistrust and confrontation instead of heading for reconciliation, cooperation and reunification.

Many Organizations for Friendship with DPRK Formed

     Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- This year witnessed the appearance of many organizations in different countries reflecting the desire of the progressive people of the world to deeply study the greatness and immortal exploits of the three generals of Mt. Paektu and actively support the Korean people's Songun revolutionary cause and cause of national reunification. In January, the Group for the Study of the Exploits of the Three Generals of Mt. Paektu was formed by officials of national institutions in Democratic Congo and the Committee for the Study of Kimilsungism and "Kim Jong Il Club" were inaugurated in Mexico and Jordan.
    The Egypt-DPRK Friendship Association opened an Internet homepage "Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il e-library" and the British Association for the Study of the Songun Policy put on its Internet homepage an article commemorating the birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war hero, in which it introduced her brilliant revolutionary life and immortal exploits.
    Organizations for the study of the Juche idea were inaugurated in India, Thailand, Guinea, Norway and Mexico.
    The Association for the Study of the Songun Politics was inaugurated by adherents to the Juche idea in Britain in August to be followed by the formation of a group for the study of the Songun politics in the U.S.
    This year saw the appearance of organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people in different countries. The Hauz Giang Branch of the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association was formed and the British-DPRK group of parliamentarians of political parties formed in the Parliament to further develop the dialogue and actively cooperate with the DPRK. It comprises parliamentarians from different political parties including the vice-president of the House of Lords.
    New friendship organizations were also inaugurated in Philippines and Mexico to deepen the friendly and cooperative relations with the DPRK through activities to introduce the DPRK and voice solidarity with it.
    A committee for supporting the Korean people in their anti-U.S. struggle was formed in Syria.

S. Korean Authorities' Suppression of People under Fire

     Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- The present south Korean "government" styling itself a "government for people" is now engrossed in fascist suppression reminiscent of that in the period of military fascist dictatorship in the past. Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun today says:
    The south Korean police on December 18 charged Ri Jong Rin, former chairman of the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon), and Min Kyong U, former secretary general, with espionage after detaining them allegedly for being "pro-north" and "benefiting the enemy."
    The security authorities rushed at least 8,000 police to Puan to suppress the action of its residents against the building of a nuclear waste dumping ground and cracked down upon the demonstrations of trade union organizations and workers.
    This fascist suppression clearly indicates that the present south Korean authorities are going in for fascistization, invoking the "Security Law," a fascist law, quite contrary to the demand of the times and the signboard of "government for people" they had put up.
    Labeling those patriotic figures as "pro-north" and "benefiting the enemy" is a traitorous act which can be committed only by those opposed to reunification.
    The repressive campaign launched by the south Korean authorities against those patriotic forces working for reunification on the charge of espionage can not but be an anti-national and anti-reunification act as this is little short of playing into the hands of the Cold War-minded conservative forces keen to invoke more desperately the SL, a leftover of the era of discord and confrontation, and revive the fascist dictatorship and negating the June 15 joint declaration and getting on the nerves of the dialogue partner.
    What matters is that the SL is still in force in south Korea although it should have long been abolished.
    Such tragedy as crackdown upon officials of the south headquarters of Pomminryon who have worked for the country and the nation will continue in south Korea as long as the SL remains in force and misused by the ultra-right reactionary forces.
    The fascist SL must be abolished without delay and the south Korean authorities should stand to reason and stop the anti-reunification and undemocratic fascist suppression at once.

Asian Best Women's Football Team for 2003 Selected

     Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- The Asian Football Federation selected the Asian men and women best teams for this year on December 10. The DPRK women's football team was selected as the Asian best women's team for 2003.

Military Attaches Corps Visits Revolutionary Museum

     Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- The military attaches corps here visited the Revolutionary History Museum of the Ministry of Railways on December 19 on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 86th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, anti-Japanese war hero. They looked round relics and materials on display and the hall where rolling stock including a train coach associated with their history are preserved.
    Iranian Military Attache Abdullah Hamidi Benam who is doyen of the corps made an entry in the visitor's book. He wrote that the exploits of Kim Jong Suk will always be remembered by the Korean people and other people of the world, wishing the Korean people victory and glory under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.

KCNA Blasts S. Korean Authorities' Pro-U.S. Moves

     Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities finally made a decision to dispatch additional troops to Iraq on December 17 and sent to the U.S. a group for its discussion despite a strong protest from the international community and the south Koreans. According to the decision, at least 3,000 troops will join the more than 670 soldiers already dispatched to Iraq to take charge of its areas specified by the U.S.
    This is the worst flunkeyism and servitude to the U.S.
    South Korea has such inglorious precedent as sending more than 500,000 troops to Vietnam under the pressure of the U.S. in the 1960s and 1970s to drive many young Koreans to death and besmirch the dignity of the nation.
    People still remember the monstrous atrocities the south Korean troops perpetrated in the war after being hurled as bullet shields for the U.S. aggression forces.
    The south Korean authorities are going to sacrifice again young people as cannon fodder of the U.S., oblivious of the past crimes they committed in the 20th century. Nothing is more shameful than this for our nation.
    The Iraqi war was a brigandish war of aggression against a sovereign state, as it was launched without any justification.
    That's why no country has accepted the U.S. request to dispatch troops to Iraq and those countries which have already sent their troops there intend to pull back them. It is only Japan and south Korea, called special class pro-U.S. forces, that toe the U.S. line.
    The south Korean authorities are talking about "strengthening allies" and "interests of the nation" over the additional troop dispatch to Iraq. But they can never cover up the true colors of their pro-U.S. flunkeyist traitorous acts with such malarkey.
    They claim that it is to meet the "interests of the nation" to respond to the U.S. request to let Koreans die in place of Americans. This can be uttered only by those pro-U.S. lunatics.
    The U.S. is keen to launch a war in every part of the world if it is to serve its selfish purpose.
    It is an intolerable anti-national crime to hurl fellow countrymen into shambles of war to support the U.S.
    The south Korean authorities should immediately cancel their criminal plan to dispatch additional troops to Iraq which would bring only disgrace to the history of the nation.

Mexican Committee for Study of Kimilsungism Formed

     Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- The Mexican Committee for the Study of Kimilsungism was inaugurated with due ceremony. Ramon Jimenez Lopez, chairman of the Gustavo Madero District Committee of the Democratic Revolutionary Party of Mexico in Mexico City, was elected chairman of the committee.
    The chairman in a speech said that Kimilsungism has become an unshakable guiding idea and philosophy of the world progressives aspiring after socialism.
    It is thanks to the great banner of Kimilsungism that the DPRK, though small in population and territory, is making a dynamic advance towards a great prosperous powerful nation despite the persistent anti-socialist moves of the imperialists, he stressed.
    He expressed the resolution to conduct energetic activities for the study and dissemination of Kimilsungism in the future.

Dissolution of GNP Demanded in S. Korea

     Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- The "National Alliance for Democracy and Reunification" in south Korea was reported to have issued a statement on December 12 under the title "We demand the dissolution of the Grand National Party, a mafia and group of thieves and sycophantic traitors dead-set against reunification." The GNP's financial scam during the "presidential election" would put even a mafia into shade, the statement said, calling for waging an all-people movement for the dissolution of the GNP.
    Underscoring the need to get the party disbanded by the concerted efforts of the people, the statement stressed that the movement for the dissolution of the party would mean most ardent patriotism in our times.
    The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification in a statement on December 16 referred to the fact that former GNP President Ri Hoe Chang said at the press conference that "he would go to prison, feeling responsible for all wrongs." The statement added that his wretched plight once again proved the historical truth that those who spearheaded acts against the nation and democracy are destined to meet a miserable end.
    Today we bring only Ri Hoe Chang to justice, the statement noted, calling for bringing Choe Pyong Ryol and all the corrupt politicians on the pay-roll of the GNP to justice in the future.

Kim Jong Il's Long Songun Journey Praised

     Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il's immortal long journey which has glorified the history of ever-victorious Songun represents a revolutionary encyclopedia of ever victorious fighting spirit, traits and experience in our times, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. The article says:
    The past nine years of Songun journey were years of miracles as they witnessed one unprecedentedly great victory after another and significant years in which the invincible Korean revolution with an ever-victorious tradition was demonstrated to the world.
    The journey is characterized by the journey for Juche-oriented revolutionary leadership, the leadership that calls for defending the country by putting forward the army as a driving force of the revolution and a model to be followed by all the people and energetically stepping up the overall socialist construction.
    Kim Jong Il's long journey of Songun is one for guerrilla style revolutionary leadership as most realistic and just line and policies were set forth during endless forced march to forefront areas, turning misfortune into blessing. It is also a noble course of leadership as it is adorned with epics of warm love and dedication to the army and the people. The long journey of Songun is a trip for great revolutionary leadership which can go only with the august name of Kim Jong Il.
    His leadership art and noble virtue were formed in the days when he grew up amidst the storm and tempest of Mt. Paektu and the flames of war and in the course of leading the difficult and complicated Korean revolution to victory for scores of years together with President Kim Il Sung. This journey can be made only by Kim Jong Il possessed of extraordinary natural gifts, a long political career and leadership ability, as he is the general born of Mt. Paektu.

Russian Crewman Rescued by Korean Crewmen

     Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, Korean crewmen saved a Russian crewman from the jaws of death in the self-sacrificing spirit at Rajin Port, North Hamgyong Province. Igori Luchin, crewman of Russian-flagged vessel Prekollya anchoring at the port, fell to the sea due to a sudden accident on December 7.
    Ri Won Ho, deck hand of Trading Cargo Vessel Kumchon of the Foreign Trade Management Bureau of South Phyongan Province who was on duty, saw it and lost no time to plunge himself into the rising sea waves, not caring for danger.
    Upon hearing this news later, other crewmen of Kumchon rushed there.
    Their bold rescue operation launched to save him come what may succeeded in rescuing him.
    The Russian was in a stupor. The captain of the ship, doctor and other crewmen worked hard to bring him to consciousness. It took 20 minutes to bring him back to life.
    The crewmen of the Russian ship sent a letter of thanks to the Korean crewmen which read "We extend sincere thanks to the crewmen of the DPRK Vessel Kumchon for saving our sailor drowning in the sea in the self-sacrificing spirit."
    And they were unanimous in saying to our officials that they would never forget the sincere and friendly feelings of the Koreans towards the Russian people and they would tell the Russians the noble and beautiful mentality of the Koreans.

U.S. Moves to Develop Smaller Nukes Assailed

     Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- U.S. President Bush recently signed a bill on lifting a decade-long ban on research into smaller nukes and allotting a huge amount of money for it. A signed commentary of Rodong Sinmun today in this regard dismisses this as a grave challenge to the human cause of peace as it is a dangerous measure which may bring a nuclear holocaust to the world. The U.S. decided to spend 401.3 billion U.S. dollars for national defense in the fiscal 2004 15 million dollars of which will go for developing smaller nukes while 34 million dollars will be spent for the modernization of the nuclear test ground in Nevada, the commentary says, and goes on:
    The lift of the ban on the research into smaller nukes would enable the U.S. to push ahead with its moves to develop them with increased zeal.
    The Bush administration adopted it as its policy to mount preemptive nuclear attacks on certain countries after coming to power. It is no secret that it designated the DPRK and six other countries as targets of its preemptive nuclear attacks. The U.S. imperialists are going to indiscriminately use smaller nukes against both nuclear weapons states and non-nuclear states in a bid to serve their dominationist purpose and meet their strategic interests.
    It is preposterous for the U.S. to threaten other countries not to "possess nuclear weapons" but "scrap nuclear programs" although it is developing, manufacturing and testing new type nuclear weapons.
    The U.S. imperialists' moves to develop smaller nukes only compel the DPRK to beef up its deterrent force to cope with the nuclear attacks of the U.S. No one is entitled to fault the DPRK as it is a legitimate right for it to maintain and strengthen a nuclear deterrent force as a means for self-defence to cope with the U.S. policy to stifle the DPRK with nukes.
    It is as clear as noonday that humankind will suffer an irrevocable catastrophe unless the reckless moves of the nuclear fanatics are frustrated. Therefore, it is quite just for the world to protest against it.
    The U.S. moves to develop smaller nukes against the humankind's desire for peace are bound to meet stronger rebuff and denunciation of the world peace-loving people.

Diplomatic Relations Established between DPRK and Ireland

     Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- A report on opening the diplomatic relations between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Republic of Ireland was published on Dec. 20. According to the report, to this end official talks took place in Pyongyang on Dec. 10, 2003 between the DPRK Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ireland.
    At the talks the documents on the opening of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and Ireland were exchanged and it was agreed to establish the diplomatic relations between the two countries on Dec. 10, 2003 on the basis of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and Consular Relations.

Inter-Korean Meetings Held

     Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- The 4th meeting of the North-South Arrangement-making Panel for Economic Cooperation took place in Pyongyang from December 17 to 20. Both sides discussed the technical issues in providing an institutional guarantee for promoting the economic cooperation between the north and the south in the basic spirit of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration before making public a joint press release.
    According to the press release, the north and the south decided to further discussions on the order of coming in and going out of the Kaesong Industrial Zone and the Mt. Kumgang tourist zone and stay there, the issue of north-south telecommunications line for economic cooperation and brisk direct commodity transaction, the issue of exchanging laws and regulations necessary for inter-Korean economic cooperation and the issue of industrial property right.
    Meanwhile, the first meeting of the north-south working panel for settlement of accounts and transaction and the first meeting of the north-south working consultative meeting for confirming the origin of goods were also held and press releases were issued there.

Kim Jong Il Awarded Russia's Academic Certificates and Highest Order

     Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il was awarded the certificates of the titles of academician and professor of the Academy of Security, National Defence, Law and Order of the Russian Federation, a badge of the academy, Pyotr the Great Order First Class, the highest order of the academy, and its certificate. Sergei Lyoushkin, vice-president of the academy on a visit to the DPRK, handed them to an official concerned on December 19.
    He said that the Presidium of the academy decided to present Kim Jong Il with Pyotr the Great Order First Class and certificates of the titles of academician and professor of the academy on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of his assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army.
    He noted that the academy decided to award to Kim Jong Il the title of academician conferred only upon full members of the academy, not that of honorary academician. This was in recognition of his great contribution to boosting the Russia-DPRK relations of friendship and cooperation, he added.
    It is honor of our academy to award the order and titles to Kim Jong Il representing the desire of the Russians, he stressed.

    Es un lugar historico adonde el Presidente Kim Il Sung vino el 31 de agosto de 1958, dia siguiente de su participacion en la ceremonia inaugural de la Central Hidroelectrica de Suphung, dio las instrucciones esmeradas para mejorar rapidamente la vida de los habitantes del distrito y despues, estuvo presente en reiteradas ocasiones al dar orientacion sobre el terreno.
    El Dirigente, luego de escuchar la explicacion de ese lugar historico, recorrio los objetos historicos conservados en aspectos originales y la sala de educacion en la historia revolucionaria.
    Acto seguido, dirigio sobre terreno la Planta Hidroelectrica Juventud de Unhung construida nuevamente.
    Al recorrer el exterior e interior de la planta se entero de los detalles del estado de construccion y la generacion electrica de la planta y se mostro muy satisfecho de su construccion muy eficiente y de eterna duracion.
    El Dirigente dirigio sobre terreno el lugar de construccion de la Planta Hidroelectrica de Thaechon No. 4.
    Senalo que con la culminacion de esta obra se podria materializar brillantemente el legado del Presidente de construir en la zona de Thaechon una gran base de generacion hidroelectrica y subrayo la necesidad de adelantar cuanto antes la construccion de la planta.
    En el mismo lugar, le acogieron Kim Phyong Hae, secretario responsable del Comite del PTC en la provincia de Phyong-an del Norte y otros funcionarios responsables de esta provincia, distrito y empresas.

Kim Jong Il recibe presente de comite de Beijing de liga de la juventud

     Pyongyang, 20 de diciembre (ATCC) -- Al Dirigente Kim Jong Il le dirigio presente el Comite de Beijing de la Liga de la Juventud Comunista de China. Guan Chenghua, secretario de este Comite de visita en Corea lo entrego el dia 19 a un funcionario coreano.

Mexico: Comite de Estudio del Kimilsunismo

     Pyongyang, 20 de diciembre (ATCC) -- Quedo fundado el Comite Mexican de estudio del Kimilsunismo. Como presidente de esta entidad fue electo Ramon Jimenez Lopez, presidente del Comite del Municipio de Gustavo Madero de la ciudad de Mexico del Partido Revolucionario Democratico.
    El presidente del Comite en su discurso dijo que el Kimilsunismo se ha convirtido en una firme idea directriz y filosofia de los pueblos progresistas del mundo aspirantes al socialismo.
    El enfatizo que por contar con la gran bandera del Kimilsunismo, Corea, aunque no tiene gran poblacion ni gran territorio, avanza firmemente hacia una gran potencia prospera sin doblegarse ante las persistentes maniobras de los imperialistas contra el socialismo.
    Expreso su decision de desarrollar con entusiasmo en el futuro las actividades para estudiar y divulgar el Kimilsunismo.

Cuerpo de Agregados Militares visita museo de historia revolucionaria

     Pyongyang, 20 de diciembre (ATCC) -- En ocasion del 12 aniversario del nombramiento del Dirigente Kim Jong Il como Comandante Supremo del Ejercito Popular de Corea y del 86 aniversario del nacimiento de la heroina de lucha antijaponesa Kim Jong Suk, el Cuerpo de Agregados Militares en Corea visito el dia 19 el Museo de la Historia Revolucionaria del Ministerio de Ferrocarril. Los huespedes recorrieron los objetos historicos, datos exhibidos y la sala de conservacion del vagon historico.
    Abdullah Hamidi Benam, agregado militar de la Embajada de la Republica Islamica de Iran, quien preside el Cuerpo escribio en el libro de impresiones que las hazanas de la camarada Kim Jong Suk se conservaran para siempre en el alma del pueblo coreano y de los demas pueblos del mundo, y que desea al pueblo coreano, que goza de la sabia direccion de Su Excelencia el gran mariscal Kim Jong Il, solo la victoria y gloria.

Cuadro hermoso de la amistad Corea-Rusia

     Pyongyang, 20 de diciembre (ATCC) -- Hace poco, en el Puerto de Rajin de la provincia de Hamgyong del Norte, puerto comercial de Corea, un tripulante del barco ruso quien estaba a punto de morir por un accidente inesperado fue salvado por los esfuerzos abnegados de los tripulantes coreanos. El pasado dia 7 del actual, Igor Ruchin, tripulante del barco ruso "Prekolya", anclado en este puerto cayo en el agua del mar por un accidente inesperado.
    En este momento, el marinero de cubierta del barco comercial "Kumchon" perteneciente a la Direccion del Comercio Exterior de la provincia de Phyong-an del Sur, Ri Won Ho, quien estaba de guardia lo vio y se lanzo sin titubeo al agua del mar con oleaje furioso.
    Poco despues, los tripulantes del barco "Kumchon" acudieron a este lugar para salvarlo y por fin, lo salvaron del agua del mar al cabo de haber desarrollado operacion de salvamento.
    El capitan, el doctor y los tripulantes del barco coreano, al hacer ingentes esfuerzos por resucitar al tripulante ruso quien estaba en peligro, lo salvaron milagrosamente a 20 minutos.
    Los tripulantes rusos hicieron llegar, en reflejo de sus almas, una carta de agradecimiento por el particular. La carta expresa sincero agradecimiento a los tripulantes del barco comercial "Kumchon" de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea quienes salvaron con la lucha de sacrificio al tripulante ruso quien cayo en el agua del mar.
    Los tripulantes rusos dijeron a los funcionarios coreanos que no se olvidaran de sincero alma y sentimiento de amistad del pueblo coreano al ruso y anadieron que daran a conocer ampliamente al pueblo ruso el noble y hermoso mundo espiritual del pueblo coreano.
