He said that the youth and students solidarity was formed on November 23, 2002, out of necessity to strengthen exchange between youth and students in the south and north in the era of June 15. In the process of uniting under the banner of the joint declaration it was practically proved that difference of political view and religious belief cannot be any obstacle, he noted, and went on:
It is very important to unite in the struggle for the implementation of the joint declaration.
He laid stress on conducting a powerful movement for exchange, cooperation and solidarity between youth and students at home and abroad.

Commitment of Police force to Area of Demonstration Denounced in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 30 (KCNA) -- The "National Federation of the Poor" in south Korea reportedly made public a statement on November 25, denouncing the authorities for committing police force to Puan area. The statement charged that the authorities' commitment of over 8,000-strong police force to Puan area where candlelight demonstration was on for over 120 days is a foolish move to create a martial law-charged fear among the residents in the area who oppose the construction of a nuclear waste disposal ground.
The authorities should withdraw the police force from Puan County and totally repeal the plan for the construction of a nuclear waste disposal ground, the statement said, warning that in case this demand is not met, the candlelight of Puan would burst into flames of resistance in all parts of south Korea.

DPRK, Dignified Powerful Nation

Pyongyang, November 30 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is an invincible powerful nation with a great national power enough to firmly defend its just idea, system and cause, stresses Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. The DPRK is an indestructible political power in which the whole party, the entire army and all the people get united in one mind and an ever-victorious military power, the article says, and goes on:
The socio-political foundation of the DPRK government which has been consolidated on the basis of the worker-peasant alliance led by the working class and in reliance on the united front of the popular masses has been immensely strengthened as the singleheartedly united force of the whole party, the entire army and all the people.
As powerfully demonstrated to the world once again by the election of deputies to the 11th term Supreme People's Assembly and the military parade and mass demonstration for celebrating the 55th anniversary of the DPRK, the DPRK is the great political power where the whole party, the entire army and all the people are singledheartedly united with the headquarters of the revolution as its hard core. The singlehearted unity of the party, the army and the people is a true and solid unity and cohesion which can neither be destroyed by nuclear weapons nor be toppled down by any crafty psychological warfare as it is an ideological, willful and moral unity based on the revolutionary faith and comradeship.
The DPRK has a powerful might enough to decisively check and frustrate the imperialists' vicious moves of aggression and war. We are firmly armed with the war method of Juche in the spirit of devotedly defending the leader, the spirit of laying down our life as a human bullet and bomb and the spirit of self-blasting explosion and has ever-victorious revolutionary strong army of Mt. Paektu equipped with modern offensive and defensive means and the powerful independent defense industry.
The imperialist bellicose forces should clearly know that any "preemptive nuclear attack" , "aerial and sea strike" and "precision strike" are impotent before the military power of the DPRK and there is no place on the planet to escape the powerful retaliatory strike of its revolutionary armed forces.
Our army and people value the peace of the country and do not want a war but will not beg for peace while having their sovereignty and dignity encroached upon. If the U.S. imperialists and their stooges ignite a new war, our army and people will deal an annihilating blow at the aggressors with the singlehearted unity and great military power consolidated for scores of years and fully demonstrate the invincible spirit and dignity of heroic Korea once again.

Stop to U.S. Pressure for Troop Dispatch to Iraq Called for

Pyongyang, November 30 (KCNA) -- The People's Action against Troop Dispatch in south Korea reportedly held a "1,000-men declaration rally" on Nov. 26 to urge the withdrawal of the troop dispatch to Iraq and a stop to the U.S. pressure for troop dispatch. A declaration was released at the rally. It referred to the fact that the "government" delivered a proposal for dispatching 3,000-strong non-combatants to U.S. Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld. The "government" and the conservative press are turning away from the reality in which most of the people are opposed to any form of troop dispatch, non-combatants or combatants, the declaration said, stressing: The authorities should follow the will of the people.
Touring a U.S. airforce base in Osan, the U.S. Secretary of Defense let loose a string of outcries that south Korea should dispatch troops to Iraq for the same reason that the U.S. sent troops to south Korea 50 years ago, it noted, warning that if the Bush administration does not stop undisguised pressure for troop dispatch, it will face an overall resistance of all the people.
Prior to the rally, the organization held the third emergency meeting on the situation and discussed plans to wage an active struggle against the U.S. pressure for troop dispatch

He demanded that the "National Assembly" resolutely turn down the proposal for increased budget of military expenditure.
Secretary of the Citizens' Solidarity for Democratic Society Kwon Sang Hun said that the impracticability of the introduction of 3 trillion won worth of new multipurpose helicopters was made clear through the parliamentary inspection of the administration and that the project should be totally reexamined.
The director of the team to handle the issue of the agreement on U.S. military bases of the People for Peaceful Reunification said that the organization would struggle for withdrawal of the burden of the transfer expenses of the U.S. military units and the U.S. policy of stifling north Korea.

U.S. Urged to Compensate for Loss Caused to DPRK

Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for KEDO said that it decided to suspend the construction of light water reactors in the DPRK for one year since December 1 and KEDO thus unilaterally and completely scrapped the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary. Dismissing this as an open challenge and provocation to the DPRK and a wanton violation of the AF, the commentary continues:
The above-said decision made by the U.S. deserves serious attention as it came at a time when the six-party talks are high on the agenda.
Had the LWR construction made smooth progress as scheduled, the main body project might have been completed by around 2000 and a considerable quantity of parts including turbine generators would have been delivered to generate electricity from this year.
The U.S. and KEDO are under an unavoidable obligation to make full compensation for the huge loss it caused to the DPRK by refusing to implement their commitments under the AF.
The U.S. deliberately dragged on the construction for an indefinite period and totally suspended it at last. It is, therefore, under legal and moral obligations to fully compensate for the huge loss of electricity it caused to the DPRK. It should pay penalty, i.e. damages incurred by its non-compliance with its commitment to provide the LWRs.
As the DPRK government has already clarified, it will certainly force the U.S. to pay for the loss it caused to the former and will never allow KEDO to take any equipment, facilities, materials and technical documents out of the Kumho area unless the issue is settled. The government is determined to certainly force the U.S. to compensate for all financial and material losses it caused to the DPRK by reneging on its commitment to provide LWRs.

Tremendous Damage Caused by U.S. Imperialists to S. Korea Estimated

Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- The Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland and the National Reunification Institute made public a memorandum on November 28 after making a joint comprehensive survey of the human and material damage caused by the U.S. imperialists to the south Korean people since it occupied south Korea on September 8, 1945 and estimating its total amount. The memorandum said:
The U.S. imperialists killed in cold blood at least 2,240,000 civilians and patriots or 10 percent of the population of south Korea right after their occupation of south Korea (September 1945-May 1950) and during the Korean war of aggression (June 1950-July 1953). At least 83,000 innocent people were killed by the U.S. imperialists' firing, violence, terrorism, robbery, rape, arson, deliberate traffic incident, spread of contagious diseases and spray of defoliant in the postwar period (August 1953-present).
According to compiled data, a total of over 2,323,000 people were killed and 6,520,000 wounded.
The amount of damage inflicted by the U.S. imperialists upon the south Korean people runs into astronomical figures. If the victims are considered to be still alive and the income to be earned by them during their lifetime plus its interest and the changed value of U.S. dollar, etc. are estimated by the calculation method according to the international usage, the amount of damage caused to the dead is estimated to be 9,343,020,050,000 U.S. dollars, the amount of damage to the wounded 13,105,728,120,000 U.S. dollars, bringing the total amount of human damage to 22,448,748,170,000 U.S. dollars.
If a total amount of damage including the confiscation of "enemy property," the levy of taxes, extortion of grains is estimated at the present price, it amounts to 4,281,665,880,000 U.S. dollars.
A total amount of damage caused by destruction runs into 5,145,398,340,000 U.S. dollars when estimated at the present price, and the amount of damage resulting from "aid" totals 2,341,469,900,000 U.S. dollars and the amount of damage incurred by trade and the market opening totals 1,413,903,760,000 U.S. dollars.
If the amount of damage caused by the infiltration of U.S. monopoly capital plus its interest is estimated at the present price, it comes to 4,233,270,160,000 U.S. dollars.
This means, in the final analysis, the U.S. imperialists have inflicted upon south Korea material and economic losses worth 17,415,708,040,000 U.S. dollars through plunder, destruction, "aid," trade and the market opening and the infiltration of capital since their occupation of south Korea.
Meanwhile, the loss south Korea has suffered due to the U.S. military bases totals 127,792,170,000 U.S. dollars and the loss incurred by its payment of the expenses for the upkeep of the U.S. troops in south Korea is estimated at 705,395,760,000 U.S. dollars.
South Korea's loss caused by the forced purchase of war equipment totals 1,083,633,580,000 U.S. dollars when its interest and the changed value of a U.S. dollar are taken into account.
The U.S. imperialists have staged a total of 13,700 war exercises of various forms in south Korea, counting only those made public. The amount of damage caused by them is estimated to be 577,742,910,000 U.S. dollars.
If the amount of damage caused to the land, forests and rivers and streams by environmental pollution and destruction is estimated on the basis of the expenses for restoring them to their original state, it totals 780 billion U.S. dollars.
A total amount of military damage the U.S. imperialists have inflicted upon south Korea totals 3,274,564,420,000 U.S. dollars.
They have vandalized and looted at least 38,100 cultural treasures since their occupation of south Korea. They are valued at hundreds of billions of U.S. dollars.
They have smuggled drug worth 12 billion U.S. dollars into south Korea during their presence in south Korea, rendering the people mentally and physically deranged.
They have brutally violated many south Korean women and reduced them to sexual slaves, producing hundreds of thousands of foreigners' whores and mixed-bloods.
The sexual damage caused by the U.S. imperialist aggressor troops to south Korea amounts to more than a hundred billion U.S. dollars even when it is calculated according to the standard of compensation to be made for the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army.
The above-said estimates are based on a scientific review of various data quoted by statistical yearbooks officially released by the south Korean authorities, publications printed in south Korea and abroad, testimonies of individuals, information available from political, financial, academic, press and various other circles of south Korea and reports of the U.S., Japanese and other foreign media.
The damage was surveyed according to the international usage and in conformity with the specific conditions of south Korea.
The amount of damage was estimated according to the formula commonly used worldwide.
The total amount of human and material damage the U.S. imperialists have inflicted upon the south Korean people for nearly 60 years since their occupation of south Korea runs into 43,139,020,630,000 U.S. dollars.
