Stop to Pressure for Troop Dispatch Demanded

Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- The Emergency People's Action against the Additional Troop Dispatch to Iraq and the "Association of National Assemblymen for Peace against War" reportedly called a joint press conference in the building of the "National Assembly" on November 17. A press release carrying signatures of over 60 persons including Kim Song Ho and Kim Won Ung of the Uri Party and other "National Assemblymen" affiliated to the association and co-representatives and co-chairmen of the steering committee of the action was read out at the conference.
The release held that the U.S. should stop the pressure for troop dispatch at once and the "government" re-examine the decision on the troop dispatch.
It also demanded the punishment and replacement of those responsible for "national defense," the U.S. transfer of power to Iraq and withdrawal of the U.S. troops from it.
Meanwhile, the Emergency People's Action against the Additional Troop Dispatch to Iraq and the Phyongthaek Committee of Measures against the Expansion of the U.S. Military Base held a protest rally in front of the building of the "Ministry of National Defense" on November 17.
A resolution made public at the rally denounced Rumsfeld's arrogant pressure for troop dispatch to Iraq and the treacherous attitude of the "government" yielding to it and demanded the authorities nullify the "agreement" on the additional troop dispatch.
Earlier, the organizations had a press conference in protest against Rumsfeld's junket.

S. Korean Authorities' Decision on Troop Dispatch Denounced

Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- The New York Branch of the "Association for Independence" and other organizations of Koreans in America reportedly held a rally in front of the south Korean Consulate General in New York on November 13, denouncing the south Korean authorities' unjust decision on the troop dispatch to Iraq. Vice-chairman of the association Song Hak Sam and Member of its Central Headquarters Han Ho Sok and other speakers denounced the Bush administration's war of aggression against Iraq and its policy of occupation and accused the south Korean authorities of making haste to dispatch troops to Iraq, yielding to the U.S. pressure.
A statement read out at the rally said that Koreans in the U.S. were stunned by the south Korean authorities' decision to additionally send combatants to Iraq under the Bush administration's pressure.
The statement noted that Koreans in America standing for justice and peace and opposing a war of aggression strongly demanded the present "government" immediately withdraw its decision on the additional troop dispatch to Iraq.
At the end of the rally, the participants staged a demonstration chanting such slogans as "Let's check the additional troop dispatch through the struggle of Koreans in America" with placards reading "No south Korean government's dispatch to Iraq!"

Mt. Kumgang, November 19 (KCNA) -- An inter-Korean joint function was held at Mt. Kumgang resort on November 19 to mark the 5th anniversary of the start of the tour of Mt. Kumgang. A tree planting ceremony was followed by a meeting commemorating the 5th anniversary of the start of the tour of Mt. Kumgang.
Speakers at the meeting extended thanks to leader Kim Jong Il who paved the way for the tour of Mt. Kumgang and has shown great care and solicitude for its development, considerate of single-hearted patriotic desire of Jong Ju Yong and Jong Mong Hon, pioneers in the inter-Korean economic cooperation, and the wishes of the compatriots in the south.
They called for further developing the inter-Korean cooperation in order to bring earlier the common prosperity of the nation and the country's reunification by the concerted efforts of the nation under the banner of the historic June 15 joint declaration.
At the end of the meeting the participants enjoyed a performance given by the Pyongyang Moranbong Circus.
That day the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee hosted a reception in commemoration of the anniversary.

Also present there were staff members of the Polish embassy.
The ambassador referred to the significance of the independence day of Poland and the need to boost the friendly relations between Poland and the DPRK.

Rumsfeld's S. Korea Trip Assailed

Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dismisses U.S. Defense Secretary Rumsfeld's trip to south Korea as a criminal one of a war servant intended to hurl young south Koreans into Iraq to meet death and put the U.S. scenario to invade the DPRK into practice. The news analyst goes on:
During his trip he had talks with the minister of the National Defense of south Korea at which he tried hard to wrest answers to a series of questions related to the issues of dispatching south Korean combat troops to Iraq, transferring the U.S. military base in Ryongsan, Seoul entirely at the expense of the south Korean authorities and relocating the U.S. occupation forces according to its new military doctrine for aggression.
What is more clear from his visit is that the U.S. has not modified its hostile policy to invade the DPRK at all but its attempt at aggression has been pushed forward in real earnest.
Another point at issue is that the U.S. seeks to force south Koreans to cover all the expenses for the transfer and relocation of the military bases for aggression to plunge Koreans into a war. This betrays the despicable and ferocious nature of the U.S. warhawks.
The south Koreans should preserve their self-esteem and turn out in a nationwide anti-U.S. struggle to resolutely foil the U.S. high-handed and arbitrary practices intended to infringe upon the dignity and interests of the Korean nation and drive the aggression troops out of south Korea, not allowing it to transfer its bases.

Koreans Called Upon to Reject U.S. Pressure for Troop Dispatch

Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson today in a signed commentary accuses high-ranking officials of the U.S. Departments of State and Defense, the U.S. ambassador to south Korea and others of pressurizing south Korea to send combatants of a divisional scope to Iraq as early as possible. It goes on:
They assert that south Korea's passive attitude towards the issue of troop dispatch to Iraq would make a crack in the U.S.-south Korea relations and adversely affect the security of south Korea.
This is nothing but a U.S. plot to plug south Korea into its Iraqi strategy and a sort of threat and blackmail against the latter.
The south Korean authorities announced a decision on troop dispatch some time ago, yielding to the persistent pressure for troop dispatch put by the U.S. administration and military through various channels.
South Korean people are conducting various forms of actions to disclose the U.S. unilateral arbitrary practices and the authorities' submission to it and demanding the withdrawal of the decision on troop dispatch.
The pressure put by the U.S. upon south Korea to send combatants to Iraq under the pretext of "alliance" is intended to use young south Koreans as its bullet shields in a bid to put Iraq under its permanent occupation.
It is necessary to foil the U.S. sinister plot to attain its aggressive purpose at the sacrifice of young south Koreans.
It is, in fact, shame on the nation that south Korea is behaving at the U.S. beck and call without maintaining its assertion and view.
The south Korean people can live in peace only when the unequal "agreement" and "treaty" concluded with the U.S. are ditched, the shackling "alliance" is abrogated and the U.S. troops are driven out of south Korea.
They can achieve this only through anti-U.S. resistance.

Nambariin Enkhbayar in a speech said: New principled changes have taken place in the relations between the two countries over the last more than decade.
The signing of a treaty of friendly relations and cooperation between Mongolia and the DPRK in 2002 opened a new chapter in the history of the two countries.
I would like to emphasize that the traditional cooperative relations between the two countries are favorably developing in different fields in the spirit of the treaty.

Our government and people are very pleased with the fact that Comrade Kim Jong Il, the great leader of the Korean people, shows deep concern for the expansion and development of the cooperative relations between the two countries.
The prime minister hoped that the diligent Korean people would register greater success in accomplishing the cause of peaceful reunification and the prosperity of the country closely rallied around Kim Jong Il.
Present there were Ri Kwang Gun, minister of Foreign Trade, and other officials concerned.
A performance of artistes was given there.

Justice and Invincibility of Cause of Pomminryon Stressed

Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- Only victory and glory are always in store for the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon), says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article dedicated to the 13th anniversary of Pomminryon. It continues:
With the formation of Pomminryon on November 20, Juche 79 (1990), the Korean nation came to increase the might of the internal patriotic force for reunification with an organizational stronghold for achieving the great unity of the nation, a powerful guarantee for the reunification of the country, and the national reunification movement develop more briskly and purposefully and consciously on a nation-wide scale, orchestrated by the umbrella organization of the reunification movement.
Since its formation Pomminryon has recorded a history of righteous struggle for national unity and the reunification of the country, true to the noble idea and line of great national unity of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il, the suns of the nation.
Pomminryon has built an orderly organizational system with its regional headquarters and branches in the north and the south of the country and overseas and, on this basis, laid a solid massive foundation of the reunification movement involving compatriots of all strata.
Pomminryon has roused all the fellow countrymen at home and abroad for national unity and the cause of national reunification and vigorously waged the patriotic struggle for independent national reunification to strictly carry into reality Kim Jong Il's idea of independent reunification, faithful to the behests of Kim Il Sung on national reunification.
The 13 years since its formation have been a course of tireless efforts to achieve national unity and reunification and this course has been significant days during which the justice and vitality of the Juche-oriented idea and line of great national unity have been fully displayed.
Pomminryon should further consolidate its organizations to meet the requirements of the changing situation and the era of independent reunification and more powerfully promote national unity and the reunification movement.
Pomminryon should build up fiercer flames of the struggle of the whole nation to frustrate the U.S. reckless acts to isolate and stifle the DPRK and anti-reunification moves of the south Korean traitorous flunkeyist forces toeing the U.S. line.

U.S. Urged to Compensate for Loss of Electricity

Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- The Asian Regional Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification and the All-India Indo-Korean Friendship Association in a joint statement on November 14 strongly urged the U.S. to compensate for the huge loss of electric power it has caused to the DPRK. The U.S. is now coming out with the far-fetched assertion that the DPRK should allow the withdrawal of equipment brought for the construction of light water reactors while misleading public opinion to create the impression that the DPRK is to blame for the scrap of the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework (AF), the statement said, and went on:
The stoppage of the LWR construction is a concentrated product of the Bush administration's hostile policy toward the DPRK.
From the first days of its office the administration, true to its physical quality, denied the political system of the DPRK after designating the DPRK as part of "an axis of evil" and a target of preemptive nuclear strike. And in October 2002 the U.S. openly threatened and pressurized the DPRK, groundlessly alleging that it was violating the AF by promoting "enriched uranium program" to manufacture nuclear weapons.
We hold that the U.S. should renounce its hostile policy toward the DPRK and sincerely respond to the aboveboard measures taken by the DPRK to ensure genuine peace on the Korean peninsula.

S. Korean Authorities Urged to Guarantee Free Activities of Unconverted Prisoners

Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Korean Measure Committee to Save Unconverted Long-term Prisoners in South Korea in a statement on November 20 held that only unconverted long-term prisoners are not allowed to tour Mt. Kumgang though no restriction is put on anyone, a clear violation of the spirit of the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and an intolerable inhumane act. The statement continued:
Shortly ago unconverted long-term prisoners in south Korea applied for the tour of Mt. Kumgang but the south Korean authorities disallowed it, absurdly asserting that the term of observation is not yet over under the "law on observation for public peace".
The south Korean authorities have not accepted the DPRK's proposal for repatriating all the remaining unconverted long-term prisoners in south Korea within this year and prevented them from touring the mountain. This clearly proved that south Korea, a U.S. colony, is a graveyard of human rights and democracy.
The south Korean authorities should provide the unconverted long-term prisoners with the freedom of activities and unconditionally repatriate all of them to the DPRK at the earliest possible date as desired by them in the spirit of the joint declaration.
The statement expressed the expectation that the Committee for the Promotion of the Repatriation of Unconverted Long-term Prisoners and other human rights organizations and people would turn out in the campaign for their repatriation.
