DPRK Foreign Ministry Blasts Japan's Anti-DPRK Campaign

     Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- The much fuss kicked up by the Japanese authorities over the "abduction issue," an issue that had already been solved, to internationalize it is aimed to incite confrontation with the DPRK and hostility toward it and thus win popularity at home and tarnish the image of the DPRK at any cost abroad and attain their sinister political purpose, said a spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry in a statement issued on Oct. 9. The "abduction issue" was an abnormal incident caused by individuals against the backdrop of the anti-Japanese sentiment that grew extremely bitter among the Koreans due to the hostile policy pursued by the successive Japanese authorities, the statement said, and continued: The DPRK gave all necessary explanations about the background against which the abduction issue was caused to those officials concerned of the Japanese government when they visited Pyongyang toward the end of September last year and handed them copies of as many necessary genuine documents as possible proceeding from humanitarianism.
    The Japanese authorities unilaterally broke the promise they made to the DPRK to return Japanese who went to Japan for home-visit and settle the issue of the repatriation of their families. They made profound confusion of the right and the wrong in a bid to create the impression that the DPRK blocked their reunion in violation of humanitarianism, after detaining them.
    As if it were not enough with this, the Japanese authorities solicited for help, peddling the "abduction issue" here and there.
    Recently they referred it to the UN to kick up a row over it and are now talking about a "package solution", deliberately linking it to the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S.
    The statement continued:
    The Japanese authorities have so far asserted that the solution to the "abduction issue" is a top priority related to the lives and security of the Japanese. There is no reason for them to refuse to accept the DPRK's demand if this is true. The prospect of the solution of the issue entirely depends on the attitude of the Japanese authorities.

Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Election as WPK General Secretary Observed Abroad

     Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- The sixth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 58th anniversary of the WPK were celebrated in many countries. Celebration meetings were held in Moscow, London and Berlin and by the Mt. Paektu Czech-Korean Friendship Association and the France-DPRK Society for Encouraging Commercial, Industrial and Cultural Planning and Development between October 1 and 4.
    Chairwoman of the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia .S.Z. Umalatova in a speech said that there is no other party in the world but the WPK that has thoroughly defended the interests of the people and done so much work for them.
    General Secretary of the Central Committee of the New Communist Party of Britain Andy Brooks said that under the leadership of Kim Jong Il the WPK has developed into a powerful party which repulses all sorts of challenges of the imperialists and leads the Korean revolution to victory, a militant party which installs conviction and encouragement into the revolutionary parties and peoples of the world. The New Communist Party of Britain will conduct a positive solidarity movement for supporting the just cause of the WPK, he stressed.
    Letters of greetings to Kim Jong Il were adopted at the meetings.
    DPRK photo exhibitions and film shows were held at the External Policy Institute and Jane Property Corporation of India, the building of the Peruvian National Journalists' Association and the House of National Culture of Uganda on October 2.

Art Performances Held

     Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- Art performances are given at theatres and public halls in the capital and local areas of the country on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 58th anniversary of the WPK. Performances are presented by artistes of national art troupes such as the Mansudae Art Troupe, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Phibada Opera Troupe, and the State Theatrical Company at theatres in Pyongyang.
    Put on stages are numbers including the chorus of the immortal revolutionary paean "Song of General Kim Jong Il", the orchestra "People Extend Glory to the Party" and the revolutionary drama "The Celebration Meeting".
    They impressively represent the people's loyalty to Kim Jong Il who has strengthened the WPK into an invincible revolutionary party advancing under the banner of Songun, ardent love for the country and people and indomitable will and optimistic spirit that should be possessed by revolutionaries of Juche-type, the inevitability of the downfall of imperialism and the necessity of the victory of the revolutionary struggle for the independence of popular masses.
    Meanwhile, performances are given at theatres and houses of culture in local areas including South Hamgyong, North Hwanghae and Jagang provinces.
    Choruses and brass band music were performed by schoolchildren in Pyongyang in the plaza of the Monument to Party Founding on October 9.

Foreign Diplomats Visit Various Places

     Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- Diplomatic envoys of different countries here visited various places on October 9 on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 58th anniversary of the WPK. Foreign diplomats from European countries visited the Tower of the Juche Idea where they were briefed on how this splendid edifice was built. After looking round the tower and the groups of sculptures, they enjoyed a bird's-eye view of Pyongyang from the observation platform of the tower.
    Meanwhile, diplomats from Asian countries visited the Party Founding Museum. Being briefed on how President Kim Il Sung founded the Party and strengthened it into a powerful party deeply rooted among broad popular masses, they looked round historic relics with keen interest.
    The economic and commercial councilors' corps here visited the National Photo Exhibition celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on the same day.
    They saw photos on the immortal exploits Kim Jong Il has performed by successfully leading the cause of building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation with his unique Songun policy while glorifying revolutionary idea and exploits of Kim Il Sung and the ideological and spiritual traits and the achievements of the Korean People's Army and people.

Iranian Ambassador Hosts Reception

     Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- Jalaleddin Namini Mianji, Iranian ambassador to the DPRK, hosted a reception at his embassy on Thursday evening on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 58th anniversary of the WPK. The ambassador in a speech said that the WPK has played a leading role in the revolutionary struggle and construction of the Korean people for independence against imperialism under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, adding:
    The Korean people are making energetic efforts to protect the independence and accelerate construction under the guidance of the WPK.
    This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Iran and the DPRK and multifarious functions took place on this occasion.
    Noting that both Iran and the DPRK are exposed to the U.S. undisguised threat and pressure, he pointed out that the solidarity between the two peoples for sovereignty and territorial integrity is growing stronger. .

Film Shows Held

     Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- Shows of films on the exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il in their revolutionary activities are successfully going on at the cinema houses and cultural halls in Pyongyang and local areas of the country on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's election as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, the 58th anniversary of the WPK and the 77th anniversary of the Down-with-Imperialism Union. Shown there are documentary films "The Great Guidance Provided to lead Our Party to Win One Victory after Another", "Brilliant History of Great Leadership" and "Under the Leadership of Great Illustrious Commander" (Serials).
    Also screened are feature films dealing with the proud history of the building of the revolutionary Party including "A Summer at Hwasong Uisuk School" (Part One and Two), "In Those Unforgettable Days," "The First Party Commissioner" and "Guarantee" (Part One and Two.)

S. Korean Police's Repressive Offensive against Hanchongryon under Fire

     Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- The south Korean police authorities have searched for 11 leading members of the 11th term south Korean Federation of University Students Councils (Hanchongryon) including its chairman and 11 students "involved in disturbing the May 18 commemoration function" since October 1. Rodong Sinmun today dismisses this as a prelude to a wholesale repressive offensive to undermine and stamp out Hanchongryon.
    The news analyst says: The south Korean authorities branded the patriotic students as "those involved in disturbing the May 18 commemoration function" and labeled the anti-U.S. struggle of the students for peace against war as a "violent demonstration." This is nothing but a pretext for cracking down upon Hanchongryon.
    This wholesale repressive campaign against Hanchongryon is aimed to disorganize and destroy this body engaged in just and patriotic activities at all costs.
    The struggle of people from `all walks of life including workers and youth and students against the U.S.-imposed troop dispatch to Iraq is now mounting in south Korea. Much upset by this, the south Korean authorities are concentrating their suppression on Hanchongryon, the standard-bearer in the movement for independence, democracy and reunification, in a bid to stamp it out, arrest the overall anti-U.S. actions and thus achieve their sinister aim.
    They should face up to the trend of the times and history, halt at once their wholesale fascist repressive campaign against Hanchongryon and other patriotic democratic forces and make that organization legal as early as possible.

Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Work Observed

     Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates an article to the 11th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's work "On the Fundamentals of Revolutionary Party Building". Kim Jong Il, in this work, analyzes historical lessons in building the socialist ruling party and gives perfect answers to all theoretical and practical questions arising in party building and activities such as important questions of principle arising in building revolutionary parties and their activities and consolidating international unity and solidarity of revolutionary parties.
    The author of the article says:
    It is a monumental work that holds a brilliant place in invariably maintaining the revolutionary character of the WPK and further consolidating and developing it.
    The past 11 years are a shinning chronicle in which Kim Jong Il has set a brilliant example in building a revolutionary party by wisely leading the party. The greatness of his leadership recorded in the history of party building in the Songun era lies first of all in that he has successfully led the work to arm the whole party with the Songun idea.

Photo Exhibition and Film Show Open

     Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- A photo exhibition and a film show opened at the Pyongyang International Cinema House on Oct. 9 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and Nordic countries. Mun Jae Chol, acting chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, in his opening address said that Nordic countries have paid deep attention to ensuring peace and security on the Korean peninsula and boosting friendly and cooperative relations over the past three decades after the establishment of diplomatic ties with the DPRK.
    The governments of Nordic countries, in particular, have rendered humanitarian aid to the DPRK through such international organizations as the WFP and WHO and non-governmental cooperative organizations when it suffered severe natural disasters and have exerted positive efforts to realise cooperation in different fields, he said, expressing deep thanks for them.
    Stating that it is the consistent stand of the DPRK to promote friendship and boost cooperation with the peoples of all the countries in the world in accordance with the idea of independence, peace and friendship, he said the DPRK will as ever make energetic efforts for closer friendly and cooperative relations with peoples of Nordic countries.
    Diplomatic envoys of different countries in their speeches said Nordic countries have striven to ensure peace on the Korean peninsula, improve friendly relations and realize cooperation in various fields and expressed the conviction that the relations of cooperation between Nordic countries and the DPRK will grow stronger in the future.
    At the end of the opening ceremony, the participants looked round photos and books on display showing the life of the Nordic people and historic relics and landscape and appreciated documentary films of Nordic countries.
    The exhibition and show will be open till Oct. 11.

Upholding WPK's Songun Leadership Called for

     Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- Victory is always in store for the Workers' Party of Korea advancing under the uplifted banner of Songun, say papers here today in editorials. Rodong Sinmun says that the history of the WPK that has advanced under the banner of Songun is marked by the energetic leadership of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il possessed of an extraordinary wisdom and outstanding political caliber.
    Kim Il Sung was the founder and builder of the WPK as he explored the unique road of building the Juche-oriented revolutionary party and wisely led it, the paper says, and continues:
    The WPK is dynamically leading the revolution and construction with its invincible might after emerging as the vanguard force carrying out the Songun cause.
    The WPK is an invincible party guided by Kim Jong Il's Juche-based Songun idea and it plays the role of a guiding force in building a great prosperous powerful nation by the Songun political mode.
    The Songun political mode is the socialist political mode set out by the WPK for the first time and a strategic political mode to be constantly held fast to as long as imperialism exists on earth. The sagacity of the WPK's leadership and its fundamental characteristics lie in that it is conducting all work including the national defence building, economic construction, cultural construction and the work to improve the people's living standard by the Songun political mode.

Evening Gala of Young Vanguard Held

     Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- An evening gala of the young vanguard was held by the Ministry of People's Security at the plaza of the Ponghwa Art Theatre on October 9 on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 58th anniversary of the WPK. Present were Choe Ryong Su, minister of People's Security, senior officials of the ministry and young servicepersons of the ministry.
    Amid the playing of the immortal revolutionary paean "Song of General Kim Jong Il" the participants danced to the tune of the song.
    They also danced to the tune of song "Confetti of Best Wishes," highly honored to have at the top post of the Party Kim Jong Il who has united all the people and the whole army
    close around the Party under the Songun banner and has brought about only victory by dint of the single-hearted unity.

Homage Paid to President Kim Il Sung

     Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- Senior party, state and army officials, servicepersons of the People's Army and people from all walks of life visited the Kumsusan Memorial Palace today to pay tribute to President Kim Il Sung on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. Laid before the statue of Kim Il Sung was a floral basket in the joint name of the Central Committee of the WPK, the Central Military Commission of the WPK, the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly and the DPRK Cabinet.
    Written on the ribbon of the basket were letters "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung Is Immortal".
    The senior officials paid high tribute to the statue of the President.
    They entered the room where the President lies in state and paid homage to him in profound reverence.
    They looked round with deep emotion the orders and medals the President received, the portrait of the smiling President and bronze relievos in the mourning hall, a train car used by him for his on-site guidance and foreign trips and a car he used in the last days of his life.
    On the same day the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters, servicepersons of the People's Army, officials of organs of different levels and people from all walks of life visited there.

Floral Baskets Laid before Statues of Kim Il Sung

     Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- Floral baskets were laid before the statues of President Kim Il Sung on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. A floral basket sent by leader Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the WPK, chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, was seen standing before Kim Il Sung's statue on Mansu Hill. Amid the playing of the floral basket-laying music floral baskets, bouquets and flowers were presented before the statue in the name of the Party, military and power organs, social organizations, ministries, national institutions, KPA units, organs of different levels, factories, enterprises, farms and schools, etc. in the city.
    Written on the ribbons of the floral baskets were "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung Will Always Be with Us", "The Great Revolutionary Exploits of the Respected Leader Generalissimo Kim Il Sung Will be Immortal" and other letters.

     Pyongyang, 10 de octubre (ATCC) -- Con motivo del 58 aniversario de la fundacion del Partido del Trabajo de Corea fueron depositados cestos de flores ante las estatuas de bronce del Presidente Kim Il Sung. Ante la estatua de bronce del Presidente en la colina Mansu estaba colocado un cesto de flores enviado por el Dirigente Kim Jong Il, Secretario General del Partido del Trabajo de Corea, Presidente del Comite de Defensa Nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea y Comandante Supremo del Ejercito Popular de Corea.
    Mientras se interpretaba la musica de la ocasion, fueron depositados los cestos, ramos y ramitas de flores a nombre de los organos del partido, las fuerzas armadas y el Poder, las organizaciones sociales, los ministerios, los organismos centrales, las unidades del EPC, los organos a todos los niveles, fabricas, empresas, granjas y escuelas en la capital.

Acto inaugural de fotoexhibicion y proyeccion filmica

     Pyongyang, 10 de octubre (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar el dia 9 en la Casa Internacional de Cinematografia de Pyongyang el acto inaugural de la fotoexhibicion y la proyeccion filmica por el 30 aniversario del establecimiento de las relaciones diplomaticas entre la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea y los paises nordicos. El discurso de inauguracion estuvo a cargo de Mun Jae Chol, presidente interino del Comite de Relaciones Culturales con el Extranjero, quien dijo:
    Durante los 30 anos que datan del establecimiento de las relaciones diplomaticas con la RPDC, los paises nordicos prestaron una profunda atencion a la preservacion de la paz y la seguridad de la Peninsula Coreana y al desarrollo de las relaciones de amistad y cooperacion.
    En particular, los gobiernos de los paises nordicos ofrecieron a Corea que sufrio grandes desastres naturales una asistencia humanitaria por conducto del Programa Mundial de Alimentos, la Organizacion Mundial de la Salud y otras organizaciones internacionales y de asistencia no gubernamentales y se esfuerzan activamente por realizar la cooperacion en varios dominios. El pueblo coreano esta muy agradecido por ello.
    La RPDC mantiene la invariable posicion de fomentar la amistad y desarrollar la cooperacion con los pueblos de todos los paises del mundo bajo el ideal de la independencia, la paz y la amistad.      Pyongyang, 10 de octubre (ATCC) -- Tuvieron lugar en varios paises los actos por el 6 aniversario de la eleccion del Dirigente Kim Jong Il como Secretario General del Partido del Trabajo de Corea y del 58 aniversario de la fundacion de esta agrupacion politica. Se efectuaron del dia primero al 4 los actos conmemorativos en Moscu, Londres, Berlin, la Asociacion de Amistad Checo-Corea Paektusan y la Asociacion de Fomento de Desarrollo de Plan de Comercio, Industria y Cultura Francia-RPDC.
    S. Z. Umalatova, presidenta del Partido por la Paz y la Unidad de Rusia, al hacer uso de la palabra, senalo que no existe en este mundo ni un partido que haya defendido estrictamente los intereses del pueblo y haya hecho tantos trabajos para el pueblo como el PTC.
