     Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received a congratulatory message from the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) on September 3 upon his reelection as chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK at the First Session of the 11th Supreme People's Assembly. It is the greatest honor and happiness of the officials of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan as well as the people of the homeland to reelect Kim Jong Il chairman of the NDC, the top post of the state, the message said.
    It is the unshakable faith of the officials of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan that the key to the constant development of Chongryon and the movement of the Koreans in Japan lies in revering the great leader Kim Il Sung through all ages as the eternal President of the DPRK and upholding Kim Jong Il at the top post of the state with invariable loyalty, it noted.
    The officials of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan, it continued, will make peculiar contributions to the building of a great prosperous powerful nation, regarding it their noble duty to follow Kim Jong Il with unquestioned worship and warmly love and resolutely defend the socialist homeland.
    They will determinedly oppose the anti-DPRK moves of U.S. imperialism and international reaction to infringe upon its sovereignty and dignity and make positive contributions to the anti-U.S. sacred war with national cooperation of the north, the south and compatriots overseas, it said.

DPRK Founding Anniversary Celebrated

     Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Celebration meetings, joint meetings and lecture meetings were held in Amman of Jordan, Prague of the Czech Republic, Basel of Switzerland, Kinshasa of democratic Congo, Mexico City of Mexico and by the March 26 Movement of Uruguay and at Makerere University of Uganda from August 28 to 30 on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the DPRK. The general secretary of the Jordanian People's Democratic National Movement and the general secretary of the National Action Front Party of Jordan in their speeches at a meeting highly praised the state building exploits of President Kim Il Sung and the Songun leadership exploits of leader Kim Jong Il.
    The chairman of the Paektu Czech-Korean Friendship Association, addressing a meeting, said in detail that Kim Il Sung converted Korea into a powerful socialist country, independent, self-supporting and self-reliant in national defence.
    The international secretary of the March 26 Movement of Uruguay in a lecture said that the shining reality of Korea is unthinkable without the independent politics of the DPRK government and that the Songun politics of Kim Jong Il is more firmly protecting the sovereign right and dignity of socialist Korea and powerfully advancing the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation.
    Messages of greetings to Kim Jong Il were adopted at the meetings.

Work of Kim Jong Il Published in India

     Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il's famous work "On the Further Improvement of the Health Service" was published in pamphlet by the All India Indo-Korean Friendship Association on August 29. The work is a letter which he sent to the participants in the National Conference of Health Workers on April 21, 1985.
    The preface of the pamphlet said that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea founded by President Kim Il Sung on September 9, 1948, is now throwing its rays all over the world as a socialist country centred on the popular masses which provides all the people with an independent and creative life under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.
    He is further consolidating popular health care under which the state looks after the lives and health of people on its own responsibility, the preface noted, and pointed out: In Korea today medical services have been improved, medical science and technology fast developed, the ranks of health workers increased and material and technical foundations of health service firmly laid.
    Such health policy of Korea is a good luck to the people blessed with the great leaders generation after generation.

White Paper on GNP's Anti-National Nature

     Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The National Reunification Institute Thursday issued a white paper to inform the public at home and abroad of the anti-national and undemocratic nature of the Grand National Party and denounce it now that south Korea is at the crossroads of democracy or fascism and a stumbling block is lying in the way of improving the inter-Korean relations due to the frantic racket of the GNP and other ultra-right conservatives forces in south Korea. The paper says:
    The predecessors of the GNP bore different names such as the Liberal Party, the Democratic Republican Party, the Democratic Justice Party, the Democratic Liberal Party and the New Korea Party. But they were all organized by the U.S. and had been maintained by hand-raised stooges of the U.S.
    As the GNP was defeated in the presidential election in 1997, cursed by the people, it lost its power which had been held by pro-U.S. elements for over half a century.
    The GNP, once remained discouraged, began going on the rampage when the Bush administration emerged in the U.S. in 2001.
    During the presidential election last year, the GNP joined the U.S. in kicking up a nuclear racket to stifle the DPRK in a bid to misuse its nuclear issue for winning in the election. The GNP behaved so disgracefully as to cling more tightly to its American master's coattails to win in the election with his support.
    But it sustained a more shameful defeat in the election than in the 1997 presidential election.
    The GNP group, instead of drawing a lesson from it, challenged the democratic forces by escalating its pro-U.S. moves in a bid to prolong its remaining days.
    In June last it elected its new representative and heavyweights under the U.S. wirepulling and has run frantic to revive fascist dictatorship in south Korea.
    It is now focussing on staging a political coup by ultra-right elements with the election of "National Assemblymen" to be held next year as a momentum.
    The belligerent nature of the GNP found its vivid expression when it zealously supported its American master's reckless remarks about north Korea being part of an "axis of evil" and his hard-line policy toward the DPRK and declared the compatriots in the north as "the principal enemy".
    The GNP is a group of paid trumpeters faithful to the U.S. as it takes the lead in echoing the U.S. talks about a "military option" and "sanctions". It was the GNP which did set up "a special measure committee against the north's nuclear weapons" in the party in a bid to strengthen the cooperation with the U.S. over the nuclear issue.
    The anti-reunification nature of the GNP was brought into bolder relief when the historic Pyongyang meeting was held and the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration was published.
    It rejected Article One of the declaration, claiming it may lead to the withdrawal of the U.S. troops and break the "alliance" with the U.S. and Article Two, asserting that the liberal democratic system gave its way to the federal formula of Koryo set forth by the north. It totally denied the joint declaration in the end and called for nullifying it.
    It was none other than the GNP which opposed the project of reconnecting the rail and road links on the east and the west coasts, an auspicious project that relinks the severed territory and blood ties of the nation.
    The fascist rowdyism of the GNP created such a deplorable situation where those personages involved in the Pyongyang meeting are arrested, tried and subject to punishment. Moreover, a businessman who blazed a trail of north-south cooperation met a tragic death.
    The GNP dares fault noble north-south cooperation projects for no proper reason. This is a mockery of justice and truth and a challenge to the fellow countrymen desirous of reunification.
    It is impossible to defend the dignity of the nation and think about peace, reunification and prosperity of the nation as long as the GNP remains in south Korea.
    The GNP would be well advised to face up to the trend of the times, stop running amuck and quit the political arena of its own accord as it had already been judged by history and the times.

National Photo Exhibition Opens

     Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- A national photo exhibition was opened at the People's Palace of Culture to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the DPRK. Displayed at the exhibition are at least 170 photos on the revolutionary history of President Kim Il Sung and immortal feats of leader Kim Jong Il.
    Among them are "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung Addressing the Pyongyang City Mass Rally Celebrating the Foundation of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea,"
    "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung Examining and Ratifying the Document of the Armistice Agreement" and "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung Addressing the Joint Conference of Representatives of Political Parties and Public Organizations in North and South Korea" and other photos dealing with the glorious revolutionary exploits of the President. There are also photos dealing with the personality of Kim Jong Il as a great man such as "Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Comrade Kim Jong Il Receiving a Bouquet Carrying the Feelings of Boundless Reverence of the Servicemen of the People's Army," "Respected Supreme Commander Comrade Kim Jong Il Watching Exercise of Servicemen of the People's Army," "Chol Pass Marked with Footprints Left by the Great General to Provide Songun Revolutionary Leadership."
    On display are photos dealing with the firm will of the people and servicemen of the DPRK to build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation on this land without fail and their heroic struggle. Foreign Diplomats Visit Various Places of DPRK

     Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Ambassador Wu Donghe and members of the Chinese embassy here visited the Kaechon-Lake Thaesong Waterway on Sept. 4 on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the DPRK. Being briefed on the fact that the servicemen of the People's Army and builders successfully built the proud grand monumental edifice of the Songun era, they were impressed to see the Taegak Youth Dam and the waterway stretching out across a vast land.
    That day they visited the Taedonggang Beer Factory.
    They were briefed on how the modern brewery was built under the deep loving care of leader Kim Jong Il before looking round different production processes.
    The ambassador said that their visit to the two places provided them with an opportunity to know well about the successes made by the Korean people in building a great prosperous powerful nation, adding that it is the shining fruition of the Songun policy.

    On the same day officials in charge of cultural and friendly relations of different embassies here visited the Recreation Ground on Mt. Jangsu in Jaeryong area of South Hwanghae Province.

Proud History of DPRK

     Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The Korean people are looking back on the proud history of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea with the approach of its 55th founding anniversary, which falls on September 9. President Kim Il Sung liberated the country from the nearly half-a-century-long military occupation by the Japanese imperialists in 1945, built a democratic, independent and sovereign state in a matter of three years following the liberation and thus opened up a bright vista for the DPRK.
    The DPRK provided a new independent and creative life to the people by building democratic Korea under his guidance.
    The U.S. imperialists launched an invasion against the DPRK in June Juche 39 (1950), two years after its founding.
    Under the banner of the DPRK the Korean People's Army and people heroically fought and won a brilliant victory in the three-year-long war.
    They established the socialist system in 1958 to put a period to the history of exploitation and oppression in Korea for good and all and realized the socialist industrialization within 14 years after the war.
    The DPRK government has consistently adhered to the principle of Juche in ideology, independence in politics, self-support in economy and self-reliance in defence. As a result it has turned the country into a powerful socialist one unaffected by any political and economic fluctuation.
    It shaped such popular policies as the universal free medical service in 1953 and universal free education in 1959 and the complete abolition of taxation in 1974.
    Today the DPRK is ushering in an era of greater prosperity under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.
    Since President Kim Il Sung passed away in 1994, Kim Jong Il has pursued a new politics based on the Songun idea to frustrate the imperialists' persistent efforts to isolate and stifle the country, defend it with credit, and fully demonstrate the might of the DPRK.
    In 2001 alone, some ten countries opened diplomatic relations with the DPRK. The fact is illustrative of the prestige the DPRK enjoys in external relations.
    Since the publication of the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, the relations between the north and south of Korea have been turned into those of national reconciliation, unity and cooperation from those of confrontation and distrust and a great advance made in the efforts for the reunification of the country.
    The entire Korean people are now working hard to build a great prosperous powerful nation on this land without fail under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.

Education in DPRK

     Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- September 5 is the 26th anniversary of the "Theses on Socialist Education", a famous work of President Kim Il Sung. He, in the work, gives clear answers to all the questions arising in training of people in a revolutionary way and educational work -- purpose and mission of socialist education, fundamental principles of the socialist pedagogy, contents and methods of education and guidance over the educational work.
    In the first days of his revolutionary activities in his early years, he, with a penetration into the significance of education, set up revolutionary schools of a new type to give Juche-based education to the rising generation.
    After the liberation of the country, he saw to it that the Samhung Middle School and many other schools were established and the issue of pencil was put on the agenda of the first Session of the Provisional People's Committee of North Korea.
    During the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953), he ensured the continuity of educationCtook a measure to recall teachers and students to their schools from the front and founded a factory college, the first of its kind in the world.
    In the period of the postwar rehabilitation and construction, the DPRK government, under his wise leadership, earmarked a colossal amount of fund for the rehabilitation of universities and schools at all levels ahead of other work. It introduced the universal compulsory primary education in August 1956 and the universal eleven-year compulsory education in September 1975 throughout the country.
    The theses on socialist education is successfully being implemented by leader Kim Jong Il.
    In recent years alone, he visited Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of Technology, Hamhung University of Hydraulics and Songgan Middle School in Songgan County. He highly appreciated educators' merits and gave them important instructions concerning the educational work.
    He clarified ways of training IT experts and had modern centers for training computer talents set up in the capital. Before the liberation of the country 80 percent of the population was illiterate and there was not a single university in the country. But now there are many universities and schools in the country and people are enjoying the study-while-working system.

Meeting of Heroes and Heroines in Songun Era Opens

     Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The meeting of heroes and heroines in the Songun era was opened with splendor at the April 25 House of Culture here today. The meeting, the third in the history of the DPRK, marks a historic gathering as it offers an occasion of glorifying forever the immortal Songun revolutionary exploits leader Kim Jong Il has performed on behalf of the times and revolution and demonstrating the invincible stamina of Songun Korea where the leadership of the revolution, the single-hearted unity and socialism form a community linked by the same destiny.
    Present there were senior officials of the Party, the state and the army.
    Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, read out a congratulatory message of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Central Military Commission of the WPK to the participants in the meeting.

    The KPA servicemen and the people, in hearty response to the WPK's Songun politics, have performed many new heroic feats and worked miracles to glorify the Songun era.
    As the country holds Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in high esteem, it always witnesses heroic events, heroic spirit prevails in the whole society and a large contingent of heroes and heroines emerges. As a result, the DPRK becomes a country of heroes and heroines while its army emerges an heroic army and its people a heroic people.
    Calling for successfully fulfilling the tasks before the revolution, he underscored the need for all the people to unite close around Kim Jong Il, resolutely foil the imperialists' moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK and perform new heroic feats in the efforts to build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation under the uplifted banner of Songun.

Congratulatory Letter to Kim Jong Il

     Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received a congratulatory letter from the diplomatic corps here on his reelection as chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK at the First Session of the 11th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK. The letter was handed today to an official concerned by Palestinian Ambassador to the DPRK Shaher Mohammed Abdlah, doyen of the corps.

     Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Meetings were held separately by members of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea and the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea today to congratulate leader Kim Jong Il on his reelection as chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK. DPRK Stamp Exhibition Opens

     Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- A DPRK stamp exhibition was opened at the DPRK Stamp Exhibition newly arranged in Changgwang Street on Sept. 5 on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the DPRK. The exhibition has halls devoted to the display of the stamps issued since the liberation of the country up till now and has various other facilities providing diverse services including information service and sale.
    Put on display according to themes are more than 4,000 kinds of stamps issued for the past 55 years, a proud history covered by the DPRK. Over 350 of them deal with the immortal exploits performed by the three generals of Mt. Paektu.
    Stamps bearing the noble images of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il, the illustrious commander born of Mt. Paektu, help the people cherish great national pride and self-confidence of being blessed with illustrious leaders generation after generation.

La obra dilucida todos los problemas que se presentan en la formacion de cuadros revolucionarios y en la labor de educacion desde el objetivo y la mision de la educacion socialista y el principio fundamental de la pedagogia socialista hasta el contenido y el metodo de la educacion y la direccion sobre esta labor.
    El Presidente Kim Il Sung, ya en el periodo en que allanaba el camino de la revolucion, se percato del significado de la labor pedagogica e hizo instituir las escuelas revolucionarias de nueva forma y tocar el primer timbre para la educacion del Juche.
    Despues de la restauracion, establecio la escuela secundaria Samhung y otras muchas mas y discutio el problema del lapiz como agenda de la primera sesion del Comite Popular Provisional de Corea del Norte.
    Durante el periodo de la Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria hizo continuar la labor docente, tomo la medida de llamar a los profesores y estudiantes universitarios que luchaban en el frente y, en el severo ambiente del tiempo de la guerra hizo fundar el instituto de la fabrica, nunca visto en otro pais.
    Bajo la sabia direccion del Presidente en el periodo posbelico de reconstruccion y construccion, el pais destino enormes fondos a la restauracion preferente de los institutos superiores y las escuelas a todos los niveles e implanto el sistema de ensenanza obligatoria primaria general desde agosto de 1956 y el sistema de ensenanza obligatoria general de 11 anos desde septiembre de 1975.
    La tesis de la educacion socialista se materializa brillantemente por el Dirigente Kim Jong Il.
    En los ultimos anos al visitar la Universidad Kim Il Sung, el Instituto Universitario Politecnico Kim Chaek, el Instituto Superior de Hidraulica y Energia Hamhung y la Escuela Secundaria de Songgan, del distrito homonimo, el evaluo los meritos de los ensenantes y dio instrucciones valiosas de mejorar la labor docente.
    Ademas, dilucido el problema de formar el personal tecnico para la industria de informatica y asento las bases modernas de formacion de hombres de talento de computacion en varios lugares de la capital.
    Antes de la restauracion el 80% de la poblacion del pais era analfabeto y no habia ni un instituto superior. Pero, hoy cuenta con un gran numero de centros de ensenanza superior y escuelas a todos los niveles y el sistema de ensenanza por el cual estudia sin apartarse del centro del trabajo.
    Bajo los rayos de la tesis de educacion socialista Corea se ha convertido en un pais del estudio y de la educacion.
