U.S. anti-DPRK campaign under fire

Pyongyang, July 16 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification on July 10 issued a statement denouncing the U.S. malicious propaganda against the DPRK, according to a news report. Recalling that the U.S. Senate on July 9 passed a sort of "Bill on Relief of the North Korean Refugees," the statement dismissed this as part of a psychological warfare to start a nuclear war against the north as it is aimed to isolate and stifle the north at any cost through false propaganda.
The real rogue state is none other than the U.S. seeking to bring a war holocaust to the world, openly infringing upon the independence of the sovereign state, it noted, and continued:
The escalated anti-DPRK smear campaign of the U.S. is intended to cover up its despicable nature and encourage the pro-U.S. anti-reunification forces to bring down the north. The U.S. should properly understand the will of the Korean nation to fight the U.S. and achieve reunification.

Pyongyang, July 16 (KCNA) -- Andrei Karlov, Russian Ambassador to the DPRK and staff members of the Russian embassy here visited the Sinchon Museum in South Hwanghae Province on July 14 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of victory in the Great Fatherland Liberation War. Being briefed on the fact that the U.S. imperialist aggressors killed tens of thousands of innocent civilians in the most brutal manner in Sinchon after the Korean People's Army made a temporary strategic retreat during the Fatherland Kiberation War, they looked round exhibits and visual aids that bear witness to the GI crimes.
They visited the former anti-air-raid shelter of the Sinchon County Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the powder store in Wonam-ri disclosing the brigandish and brutal nature of the U.S. imperialist aggressors and tombs of patriots, 400 mothers and 102 children who were killed by them in cold blood.
They laid bouquets in front of the tombs and observed a moment's silence.
At the end of the visit the ambassador said they came to clearly know what misfortune and pain the Korean people suffered in the period of the war and how much blood they shed to win a victory in the war.
It was under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung that the Korean people could defend the freedom and independence of the motherland in the war, he noted, adding that such crimes committed in Sinchon should not be allowed to repeat themselves and many people should visit there to always remember the past.
He made an entry in the visitor's book.

GNP's anti-north moves assailed

Pyongyang, July 16 (KCNA) -- Papers here today dismiss the Grand National Party's act of linking the "experiment of detonating devices for a nuclear bomb" to the issue of "remittance to the north" as an absurd move of those who are steeped in flunkeyism and the idea of dependence on outsiders to the marrow of their bones and a madcap racket of those keen on north-south confrontation and anti-north operations. Rodong Sinmun in a signed commentary says that the issue of "remittance to the north" was, in fact, fabricated and incriminated by the U.S. which pursues the policy of inciting north-south confrontation and isolating and stifling the DPRK.
One can easily presume that the "north's experiment of detonating devices for a nuclear bomb" was also faked up by the U.S. to malign the DPRK and aggravate the nuclear crisis, the commentary says, and goes on:
The GNP is misleading public opinion, crying over the "experiment of the detonating devices" and for a "new law on special inspection". This clearly reveals its sinister intention to go for north-south confrontation and a war unhindered at the backstage manipulation of the U.S.
The reality goes to prove that the GNP is a group of unpardonable traitors and pro-U.S. flunkeyists who go against the desire of the nation for reconciliation, peace and reunification.
Minju Joson says the GNP would be well advised to behave with discretion, cogitating about the grave consequences to be entailed by its pro-U.S. treacherous act and its moves to incite inter-Korean confrontation.

U.S. urged to make switchover in its Korea policy

Pyongyang, July 16 (KCNA) -- U.S. Secretary of State Powell described the DPRK's exercise of right to self-defence as "bad behavior", saying that the U.S. will not reward it. Dismissing such remarks as naive and ridiculous, Rodong Sinmun today says in a commentary:
Recently, Powell said that the U.S. call for "North Korea's scrapping of its nuclear program first" and "multilateral talks" enjoys broad-based "support" of the international community and that the U.S. would not reward somebody's bad behavior.
We declare once again that the DPRK's possession of nuclear deterrent force is a very just self-defensive measure intended not to get any reward from the U.S. but to cope with its hostile policy.
The DPRK made flexible and innovative, new proposals to hold the bilateral talks first and then the U.S.-proposed multilateral talks. They are the most realistic and just proposals that took into consideration the origin of the nuclear issue between the two countries, the present situation, a solution to the issue and even the U.S. "concerns".
However, the U.S. has turned down the bilateral talks, insisting on the "scrapping of the nuclear program first" and talking about "effectiveness" of the multilateral talks. This behavior is of no help to the solution of the issue but will complicate it, the commentary notes, and goes on:
The U.S. should accept the DPRK's flexible proposal for holding the bilateral talks before the multilateral talks in order to find a reasonable solution to the issue.
A key to settling the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. is for the U.S. to respond to the bilateral talks with the will to make a switchover in its hostile policy towards the DPRK. without such measure, any form of talks would be fruitless and meaningless.
If the U.S. truly hopes for a peaceful solution to the issue, there will be neither reason nor pretext for it to shun the bilateral talks.
It is well advised to come out to the talks, properly understanding the nature and peculiarities of the issue and the reality.

Principle of independence, guarantee for reunification

Pyongyang, July 16 (KCNA) -- The principle of independence put forward by President Kim Il Sung serves as a fundamental principle of national reunification based on the principle of the Juche idea and the Juche-oriented view on the nation, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. The issue of the country's reunification, it notes, is an issue of the Korean nation itself and an issue related to national sovereignty because it is a matter of reconnecting the blood vessel of the nation cut off by outside forces, achieving national unity and establishing national sovereignty in the whole country.
This principle is based on undisputed confidence in the boundless might of the Korean nation, declares the paper, and goes on: The Korean nation can be reunited and can successfully solve the issue of national reunification by its own efforts as it ardently desires achieving national reunification through national reconciliation and unity.
National independence serves as an ideological force that strengthens the nation itself and leads to reunification and prosperity while dependence on outside forces and flunkeyism are an ideological poison that leaves national interests to them and drives the country to ruin. The Korean nation must firmly maintain its position as the master of national reunification and must neither beg foreign forces for its reunification nor allow them to thrust their noses into its affairs.
The principle of independence advanced by Kim Il Sung and strictly abided by leader Kim Jong Il inspired the Korean nation to the victory of national reunification and, finally, led to the birth of the historical June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and opened the era of independent reunification.
