Halt to special inspection demanded in S. Korea

Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- A meeting urging a halt to the special inspection of the remittance to the north aimed to ditch the June 15 joint declaration and derail national cooperation was reportedly held in Seoul on June 13 under the sponsorship of the reunification solidarity. Speeches were made at the meeting. It adopted a statement demanding an immediate stop to the special inspection of the remittance to the north which goes against the nation, reunification and historical responsibility.
This special inspection prompted by the intrigues of the United States and the "Grand National Party" to scrap the joint declaration serves as an obstacle as it is aimed to serve the purpose of the U.S. hostile policy toward the north and block the unity of the nation, the statement said, branding the special inspection as a total negation of the joint declaration and an anti-national and anti-reunification action to suppress national reconciliation and cooperation by invoking the evil law of the old era.
If the special inspection team takes a legal action, going against the willingness of the Korean nation to preserve and implement the joint declaration, it will face the judgment of the history and nation, the statement warned.

Withdrawal of Japan's laws on "emergency" demanded

Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The south headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification reportedly issued a statement on June 9 demanding Japan withdraw its laws on "emergency". The statement branded those laws as the most dangerous ones fully revealing Japan's plan to start a war against Korea.
Japan adopted laws on war of aggression, while letting loose a spate of outbursts, utterly indifferent to the issue of making an apology and compensation for its past crimes, the statement said, adding that this is a gross violation of the destiny of our nation. It called for launching a vigorous struggle for the withdrawal of the laws on "emergency".
Earlier, the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils issued a statement disclosing the bellicose nature of the laws.

Australian non-governmental organizations send letter to heads of state

Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The Australian Peace Committee and organizations of global friends recently made public in internet a letter to U.S. President Bush and other heads of state as regards the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula and are conducting an international signature campaign. The letter noted that the attempt to use armed forces and the application of measures for sanctions would not only remove the possibility of making the Korean Peninsula a peaceful and non-nuclear region but also cause a complete ruin.
Pointing out that military action on the Korean Peninsula will result in catastrophe even in case of a conventional war, it recalled that millions of human lives were lost during the 1950-1953 Korean War.
The United States can never urge the DPRK to respect the NPT while trying to develop new nuclear weapons in violation of the treaty, the letter said, and went on:
The DPRK's proposal for concluding a non-aggression treaty with the U.S. is a just demand and an only realistic option which make it possible to practically remove the tension from the Korean Peninsula. The U.S. should faithfully implement its duty bound to observe article five of the NPT and completely dismantle nuclear weapons. A clear option is to bring peace to the Korean Peninsula. The letter urged a peaceful proposal.

At least 100 organizations for reunification active in S. Korea

Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- In three years right after the adoption of the June 15 joint declaration more than 100 reunification movement organizations were reportedly formed in South Korea to implement the joint declaration and their activities were brisk. The solidarity for implementing the south-north joint declaration was the first to appear in Juche 89 (2000) when the joint declaration was announced.
The solidarity was formed with an aim to actively promote the movement for reunification by conducting the movement for implementing the joint declaration in a unified and comprehensive way.
The reunification solidarity for the implementation of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration and peace on the Korean Peninsula finally declared its inauguration on March 15, Juche 90 (2001) through the brisk activities of a preparatory committee formed in 2000.
The reunification solidarity included 38 organizations such as the Democratic Workers' Party, the south headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification, the National Alliance for Democracy and Reunification, the South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils and the seven orders.
On August 6, Juche 90 (2001) the joint promotion headquarters for the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration was formed, which consists of more than 50 civic and public organizations.
The committee for the promotion of exchange between youth in the south and north for the implementation of June 15 joint declaration and many other reunification movement organizations were formed in Juche 90 (2001). In Juche 91 (2002) more organizations such as the society of workers for love of reunification, the women's society for peace, the association for cultural exchange between the south and north were formed.
Declaring their inauguration the organizations made clear their program, mission, duty and activity unanimously reflecting their determination to implement the joint declaration and achieve independent reunification.
They have conducted broad activities to rouse the masses to the struggle to implement the June 15 joint declaration, while consolidating and expanding themselves.

Japan's reckless action against DPRK ship under fire

Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries' action to bar the port call of the DPRK ship "Mangyongbong-92" is an intolerable challenge to the sovereignty and the dignity of the DPRK and a criminal move to bedevil the DPRK-Japan relations contrary to the common desire and interests of the peoples of the DPRK and Japan, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary. It goes on:
A terror-ridden atmosphere created recently by the Japanese reactionaries against the ship's port call in an organized and conspiratorial manner is little short of declaring Japan's intention to cut off its relations with the DPRK.
The gravity of this development lies in that their action was timed to coincide with the U.S. imperialists' ever-more undisguised moves to stifle the DPRK with nukes.
This is a product of the hysteria of those who are steeped in the idea of toeing the U.S. line and hostility towards the DPRK to the marrows of their bones.
During his recent visit to the U.S. the Japanese chief executive agreed with the U.S. President to take "hard-line measures" against North Korea over its "nuclear issue." The measures included "economic sanctions", "sea blockade" and "military options." It is the aim of the Japanese reactionaries to incite anti-DPRK feelings among the Japanese and round off their preparations for reinvasion, taking advantage of the U.S. imperialists' moves for "economic sanctions," "sea blockade" and "preemptive attack" over the DPRK's "nuclear issue."
The recent racket kicked up by Japan over "mangyongbong-92" according to this scenario is aimed to aggravate confrontation between the DPRK and Japan and lay a springboard for reinvasion.
If Japan escalates "sanctions" and "pressure" upon the DPRK, persisting in its racket over the ship despite Pyongyang's warnings, it will create an unpredictable grave situation which will entail catastrophic consequences.

What does U.S. arms buildup plan show

Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The U.S. moves to beef up its forces stationed in South Korea at top speed indicate that the U.S. preemptive military action against the DPRK is imminent, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary. Recalling that the U.S. command in South Korea announced its plan for arms buildup to the tune of 11 billion dollars, the news analyst goes on:
The U.S. nuclear war provocation moves to stifle the DPRK have already entered into a stage of action. Latest war equipment committed to the Iraqi war are being deployed in South Korea. One apache helicopter wing envisaged in the "current plan for arms buildup" flew into South Korea. It attracts our attention that the U.S. military bosses openly said the plan is intended to destroy the front of someone in case of "emergency" in the Korean Peninsula and advance straight toward Pyongyang.
This suggests that the U.S. military action against North Korea will not be an "optical precision attack" on its strategic objects but be an overall preemptive attack war. Herein lies the gravity of the "arms buildup" moves.
Since it has been made clear that the U.S. is steadily putting into practice its moves to stifle the DPRK, we can never remain a passive onlooker to them.
If the aggressors dare amount a preemptive attack, we will wipe them out with an unpredictable and limitless strike.

Amnokgang Defence Sports Group

Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- Athletes of the Amnokgang Defence Sports Group of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have proved successful in national and international tournaments in recent years. From the beginning of the year they renewed five national records in shooting events of the sports contests for Paektusan and Mangyongdae cups.
Five shooters of the group bagged gold medals in the 37th world shooting championships held in Juche 47 (1958).
In the past the group has trained many stars of shooting, archery, fencing, radio orienteering and other defence sports events.
Ri Hyo Son won the gold in the international archery tournaments held in Italy in March Juche 75 (1986) and Ri Hye Gyong made a good job in the women's team trap event of the 14th Asian Games held last year.

Kumdang-2 injection efficacious for SARS

Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- Kumdang-2 injection, Koryo Insam (ginseng) polysaccharide, is attracting worldwide concern for its efficacy in preventing and curing SARS. It is produced by the Korea Pugang Pharmaceutical Company. According to dr. Jon Sung Hun, director of the company, Kumdang-2, which amazingly boosts the interferon generating capacity in human body, is much more efficacious than injection of interferon into human body in preventing and curing SARS.
Some of the people who got Kumdang-2 injection contacted SARS patients, or visited SARS-originated or SARS-infected areas, but not a single case of SARS has been recorded among them, he said.
Prof. and dr. Issam Hasanacha, dean of the pharmaceutical faculty of Damascus University of Medicine, said:
"In our comparative clinical tests of Kumdang-2 injection and interferon, we found the Kumdang-2 injection immensely superior to interferon in all indices. In preventing and curing SARS, Kumdang-2 is far more effective than interferon.
Moreover, Kumdang-2, being an excellent health additive, is highly applicable to everybody, sick or healthy, without any side-effects."
The demand for Kumdang-2 injection is on a sharp increase in China, Russia, Syria, Germany, Canada and other countries. It was awarded gold prizes and gold medals at the international competitive clinical tests of medicines (November 2000-January 2001), the 2001 exposition held in Osaka, Japan and other international exhibitions. It was also highly appreciated by international organizations and relevant organs of various countries including germany.
The main ingredients of Kumdang-2 injection are Kaesong Koryo ginseng polysaccharide, cerium, lanthanum, gold, platinum, etc.
According to clinical records, this injection has been administered to millions of sufferers from various diseases at many Korean and foreign hospitals over the last two decades.
92.5 percent of those have recovered from their diseases.

Book "Successive Names of Korea" off the press

Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The Academy of Social Sciences of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has published a book "Successive Names of Korea." it explains the historical meaning and origin of the names in a systematic way. The book consists of the preface and five chapters.
Chapter 1 deals with the names of clans and tribes in the primitive society. Contained in the chapter are articles on the meaning and characteristics of names of various countries and on the names of the clans and tribes in Korea.
Chapter 2 gives scientific data on Kojoson (ancient Korea) and its byname and the names of its tributaries Puyo, Kuryo and Jinguk.
Kojoson, which made its appearance as the first state in the Korean history, existed from the early 30th century b.c to 108 b.c.
Puyo and Kuryo were separated from Kojoson in around 14th century b.c. and Jinguk before 12th century b.c. Puyo existed until 219 b.c., Kuryo until 277 b.c. and Jinguk until 8 a.d.
Chapter 3 contains articles on Koguryo (277 b.c.-668 a.d), Paekje (the late 1st century b.c. - 660 a.d.), Silla (the beginning or middle of the 1st century- 935), Kaya (the middle of the 1st century - the middle of the 6th century) and Palhae, successor to Koguryo (the end of the 7th century-the early 10th century) and Koryo (918-1392). There are also articles on the origin of the name "Korea" and on Joson (Korea) -- Ri dynasty (1392-1910).
Carried in chapter 4 are historical facts on how Joson was renamed kingdom of Korea (1897-1910).
Chapter 5 introduces the Democratic People's Republic of Korea founded on September 9, Juche 37 (1948) and the popular character of its nomenclature and mission of the republic.
President Kim Il Sung put forward the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo to put an end to the split of the country and the nation imposed upon the Korean people by outside forces and to reunify the country in conformity with the will and aspiration of the nation. The chapter also gives an explanation of the proposal and its validity, and the pan-national character of the nomenclature.

U.S. urged to drop its foolish attempt

Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- Officials of the U.S. administration told rubbish that the DPRK is covering expenses for the development of nukes and other weapons of mass destruction through illegal remittance from abroad, by use of money from terrorist groups in Japan and through drug trafficking. This false propaganda indicates that the U.S. sinister aim to tarnish the international image of the DPRK at any cost and justify its moves to lay an international siege to the DPRK has reached a ridiculous and trite phase.
It is quite clear to all those who objectively studied the DPRK while staying here, to say nothing of the DPRK citizens, that such phraseology as terrorism and drug trafficking can never go with the ideology and system in the DPRK and the essential character of the social life in the DPRK.
Under the man-centered socialist system violence and drug-related crimes are strictly banned by the most popular and revolutionary laws as they do not allow any root of them to grow.
The U.S. has pulled up the DPRK over its self-defensive physical deterrent force in a bid to realize its ambition to destroy the system in the DPRK. As if it were not enough with this, it is becoming so mean and foolish as to cite such social evils which are inherent in the American society only as the source of financing the "development of such weapons."
As far as terrorist groups and drug smuggling are concerned, the U.S. tops the world's list of those crimes because it is plagued with these deep-rooted evils in the capitalist society where money is everything.
It is none other than the U.S. where the world's most leading terrorist groups including mafia and Ku Klux Klan are lording it over in collusion with not only business circles but political circles. It is again the U.S. where the drug use and addiction so frequently sparks public furore as the crimes involved not only beggars in slums but its presidents.
It is also a publicly known fact that terrorism and drug smuggling were used by the U.S. in an organized manner to perpetrate interference, coups, sabotage and smear campaign in other countries. So the anti-DPRK smear campaign launched by Washington only brings into bolder relief its shameless nature.
The U.S. had better drop its foolish attempt to impair the DPRK's image and mind its own business

U.S. forces' violence against Hanchongryon blasted

Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- The South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) reportedly called a surprise press conference in front of the U.S. 8th army base on June 13 to condemn GIs for walking away students and teasing girl students who staged a surprise demonstration in the base. At the conference it elaborated on the GI violence. They treated the students as "criminals" on June 12 when they entered the U.S. base demanding the U.S. immediately drop its arms buildup plan, stop forcing South Korea to purchase its weapons and halt at once its war threat to the north. They handcuffed them and forcibly searched them and, moreover, insulted and teased girl students while walking them away.
A press release read out by Ho Hwan Hui, chairman on the Committee for the Promotion of Campus Autonomy of Hanchongryon, said that the students would frustrate the U.S. war moves through struggles and force the U.S. forces to stop lording it over this land any longer.
At the end of the conference representatives of Hanchongryon tried to enter the U.S. base to hand a letter of protest to its command but were blocked by the police.

Buddhist mass held in DPRK

Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- A "joint mass of Buddhists in north and south for the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration and national reunification" took place at the temples across the DPRK on June 15 on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the historic Pyongyang meeting and the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration. The joint mass was attended by office-bearers of the central committee, provincial, city and county committees of the Korean Buddhist Federation, chief priests and monks of the temples and believers.
A ritual was followed by speeches. Then a prayer was read out there.
At the mass the speakers said that the mass is held at a time when all the Koreans' desire for reunification is running high as never before with the 3rd anniversary of the historic June 15 joint declaration as a momentum, calling upon all Buddhists to turn out as one in the sacred struggle to accomplish the cause of reunification, deeply aware of their mission and duty as a driving force responsible for national reunification.
The publication of the June 15 joint declaration marked a landmark event as it brought about a turning-point for national reconciliation and unity, putting an end to its past bedecked with division and confrontation, they said, expressing the firm determination of all Buddhists in the north and south and abroad to work hard to frustrate the ever more undisguised moves of the U.S. imperialists and their followers to provoke new war and to defend the peace and security of the country, closely united in the idea of "by our nation itself."
