Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il on June 12 sent a message of greetings to Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin on the occasion of the National Day of the Russian Federation. The message says:
I extend warm congratulations to you and your government and people on the occasion of the national day of the Russian Federation.

U.S. war moves flailed in S. Korea

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The south headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's reunification reportedly issued a statement on june 7 under the title "we vehemently denounce the U.S. war provocation moves to beef up the U.S. forces in South Korea, accelerate MD and stifle the north." The statement accused the "further steps" expounded at the South Korea-U.S. summit talks of escalating the war moves in the Korean Peninsula and posing a threat to peace in Northeast Asia.
Asking the U.S. for whom it is shipping a large number of war weapons into South Korea and increasing military spending, the statement said that the U.S. arms buildup and redeployment of its forces in South Korea are intended to push forward a war scenario on the Korean Peninsula phase by phase.
We will never tolerate the U.S. moves to unleash a nuclear war in this land at any cost, the statement said, urging the South Korean authorities to stop the anti-national act of joining the U.S. policy of unilateral supremacy.

U.S. arms buildup plan flayed

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League in a statement on June 11 bitterly denounced the U.S. imperialists' plan to beef up their forces as an unpardonable criminal move to impose a nuclear war upon the youth all out to build a prosperous country on this land. He recalled that the U.S. imperialists announced a plan to beef up their forces in South Korea by spending 11 billion dollars, asserting that this is aimed to break through the "front" of somebody and "advance toward Pyongyang" in case of "emergency" on the Korean Peninsula.
    He went on:
The youth of the DPRK love peace but they are not afraid of a war.
The Korean youth in the 1950s dealt crushing blows at the U.S. imperialist aggressors and their allied forces, demonstrating to the world the spirit of heroic Korea. The youth are playing a major role in the decisive battle against the U.S. today.
The 5 million youth who have cultivated matchless power and wisdom under the guidance of Kim Jong Il, illustrious commander born of heaven, will become human bombs and sledge hammers and mercilessly wipe out the U.S. imperialist aggressors if they ignite a war on this land and do harm to beloved Pyongyang even a bit.

Japanese authorities' moves to bar DPRK ship's service under fire

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Korea-Japan Friendship Association in a statement on June 11 denounced the Japanese government for its inhumanitarian and unethical action to bar the service of the ship "Mangyongbong-92." He said: the ship is called "a ship that set an example in humanitarianism" and "a ship of Korea-Japan friendship." Yet, the Japanese government is treating the ship as a "criminal" one instead of fully protecting and ensuring its safe sail in the spirit of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration and in keeping with the desire of the Koreans in Japan and the Japanese people.
Over the last more than decade since its first voyage the ship has sailed the East Sea of Korea as a symbol of genuine humanitarianism and Korea-Japan friendship. It has ensured visits of Koreans in Japan to the homeland and Japanese visits to the DPRK, contributing to promoting exchange and friendship between the Korean people and the progressives of Japan and between political parties and organizations.
He dismissed the Japanese authorities' reckless behavior as a provocative act to impair the high international prestige of the DPRK and tarnish its image and encroach upon its sovereignty and self-respect and an anachronistic move to trample underfoot the right to humanitarian visit of Koreans in Japan to their homeland and bedevil the Korea-Japan friendship and thus chill the desire of the two peoples for improved bilateral relations.
    The statement said:
The Japanese authorities should ponder over the fact that in case the Korean people strong in self-respect are compelled to take any countermeasure, the relations between the two countries may turn into the worst hostile relations, the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration may be reduced to a dead document and then this may pose an unpredictable threat to the peace and security of Asia and the rest of the world. The Japanese authorities should immediately rectify their hostile policy toward the DPRK and Chongryon (General Association of Korean Residents in Japan), a policy going against the trend of the times, make a policy switchover for the implementation of the declaration and take positive measures to ensure at once the regular service of the ship and enable Korean residents and students in Japan to visit their homeland as scheduled.
Availing ourselves of this opportunity, we express belief that the progressive and peace-loving people, political parties and organizations in Japan will actively turn out in the solidarity movement to check the Japanese authorities' unreasonable anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon campaign and boost the Korea-Japan friendship.

New viper venom injection developed

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The zoological institute of the biology branch under the Academy of Sciences has succeeded in developing a new viper venom anti-cancer injection. Anti-cancer medicines in general weaken the human body's immunity for their strong poisonous effect on cells during cancer treatment.
But the injection prevents the reduction of leucocyte and lymphocyte during treatment and reactivates the immunity of cancer patients so as to promote the cure.
The application of the injection to more than 60 sufferers from breast, rectum, lung and other cancers resulted in a considerable increase of immunity in their bodies.
Its efficacy is 70 to 80 percent. it has little harmful effect on human body. With the concentrated venom is higher than other viper venom injections, it proves efficacious in the treatment of such diseases as neuralgia, rheumatism and lymph tuberculosis in a relatively short period.
It has an immediate effect on muscle rigidity, external contusion and motor disturbance by stress.

Japan hit for toeing U.S. line

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Director general of the Japan Defence Agency Ishiba addressing an international meeting recently said that North Korea poses a grave threat to the peace and security in Northeast Asia including Japan and a stronger countermeasure would be needed in case it deteriorates the situation. Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun today queries what does his talk about "stronger countermeasure" mean and what does "understanding" of "all options including military pressure" claimed by the United States imply.
    The news analyst goes on:
The DPRK is fully ready to counter the U.S. military attack.
Its retaliation against it will be decisive and merciless. In that case Japan, too, will not be safe.
Japan's assertion about the "importance of multilateral negotiations" was prompted by its real intention to use the multilateral talks as a leverage for laying an international siege to the DPRK, not to truly settle the nuclear crisis on the Korean Peninsula.
Lurking behind Japan's ceaseless ruckus over someone's kidnapping issue is its black-hearted intention to flee from its responsibility to redress its past wrongdoings by internationalizing the kidnapping issue at any cost and misleading public opinion.
Japan should not dance to the tune of the U.S. but ponder over the grave consequences to be entailed by the worsening DPRK-Japan relations, he urges.

Russian Ambassador hosts reception

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Andrei Karlov hosted a reception on June 11 on the occasion of the National Day of the Russian Federation. Addressing the reception, the ambassador said that the Pyongyang visit of President Putin and the Russia visit of Kim Jong Il, Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, gave a strong impetus to the cooperation in political, economic, military, cultural and different other fields between the two countries.
The treaty of friendship, good-neighborliness and cooperation between the Russian Federation and the DPRK provided a foundation for developing the bilateral relations, he said.
Russia and the DPRK are positively cooperating with each other on the international arena, he noted, referring to the fact that the two countries have a common stand on outstanding international issues.
Russia actively supports the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and hopes that a positive achievement would be made in the situation on the Korean Peninsula, he stressed.
Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun in his reply said that the DPRK-Russia friendly relations with a long history and tradition are favorably developing in the spirit agreed upon at several meetings and talks held between the heads of the two countries.
He noted that the bilateral relations are growing viable under the deep care of Kim Jong Il and Putin.
He wished the Russian people greater success in their work for promotion of their welfare and the economic progress.
It is the common wish of the two peoples to attach importance to the traditional friendly relations between the two countries and further develop them and this is helpful to ensuring the peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region, he said, expressing the belief that these relations would grow stronger and develop in various fields as desired by the two peoples and in their fundamental interests.
Present at the reception on invitation were officials concerned and diplomatic envoys of different countries here.

U.S. dangerous arms buildup in S. Korea slammed

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists were recently reported to have deployed over 20 AH-64D helicopters of the latest type in South Korea as a link in their whole chain of their plan to bolster their forces in South Korea. This is a very dangerous military development as it happened right after the recent announcement of the "arms buildup plan" calling for spending a stupendous amount of fund in three years to come to massively beef up the U.S. forces in South Korea.
Minju Joson today in a signed commentary says this indicates that the U.S. imperialists are desperately stepping up their preparations for a war of aggression to contain the DPRK by force.
The deployment of the new type helicopters in South Korea clearly proves that the "arms buildup plan" announced by the U.S. as part of its preparations for a war of aggression against the DPRK is being put into practice.
The U.S. imperialists are grossly mistaken if they think they can bring the DPRK under their control by force. The DPRK has a deterrent force powerful enough to foil the U.S. imperialists' nuclear war moves at a single stroke. The U.S. imperialists are going frantic to stifle the DPRK militarily. This reality proves once again that it was quite just for the people of the DPRK to have built up self-defensive war deterrent force, tightening their belts.
If the U.S. ignites a war of aggression against the DPRK, the Korean people will vent their long pent-up wrath against the aggressors and wipe out them to the last one.

S. Korean battleships again intrude into territorial waters of north

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The South Korean military is daily committing military provocations by infiltrating battleships into territorial waters of the north side in the West Sea, according to a military source. At around 4 a.m. on June 12, two clippers and one patrol boat of the South Korean forces intruded into territorial waters of the north side south of Tungsangot, Ssanggyo-ri, Kangryong county, before manoeuvring there for hours.
On June 11 nearly 20 battleships committed military provocations after intruding into territorial waters of the north side 12 times and on June 10 15 battleships perpetrated 10 cases of such intrusion. The situation in these waters is getting tenser with each passing day owing to more frequent infiltration of battleships of the South Korean forces into territorial waters of the north side.
The soldiers of the Korean People's Army are following every move of the South Korean forces with a high degree of vigilance.
If the South Korean military authorities misjudge the self-restraint of the north side and lead the situation in these waters to a touch-and-go situation, this will spark an unpredictable crisis and they will have to be held entirely responsible for all the ensuing consequences.
