U.S. arms buildup plan under fire

Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- The Reunification Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration and Peace on the Korean Peninsula reportedly issued a statement on June 2 denouncing the U.S. forces' "arms buildup plan". The statement accused the U.S. forces and the South Korean military authorities of asserting on May 31 that the "arms buildup plan" is based on the "Operation Plan-5027 Contingency Plan" and its aim is to pose a military threat to stifle the DPRK and, furthermore, start a war against it. This clearly revealed the fact that the U.S., paying lip-service to "dialogue" and "peaceful solution," is, in fact, opting for a military threat and pressure, the statement noted.
Branding the U.S. ceaseless arms buildup and military threat to the north as a grave provocation, the statement demanded an immediate halt to its reckless "arms buildup".

Over 50 educational institutions in DPRK named after heroes

Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- Many heroes who dedicated their lives to the party, the leader, the homeland and the people are always remembered by the people in the DPRK. More than 50 universities and schools across the country were named after heroes.
Sinuiju University of Education No. 1, Hamhung Teacher Training College No. 1, Pyongyang University of Commerce and Sariwon University of Medicine and others respectively bear the names of Cha Kwang Su, Choe Hui Suk, Jang Chol Gu, Kang Kon and other anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters, who were the first generation of heroes.
College of agriculture in Haeju was named after hero Kim Je Won who took the lead in the patriotic movement of donating rice to the state as a peasant right after the liberation of Korea.
Sariwon University of Agriculture was named after hero Kye Ung Sang who greatly contributed to the development of the science and technology of the country.
Those who emerged heroes during the fatherland liberation war are remembered by the people along with the names of their alma maters.
Sunchon college of Chemical Industry and Wonsan University of Technology were named respectively after Ri Su Bok and Jo Kun Sil who readily dedicated their lives to the dear country.
The names of Kim Kwang Chol who sacrificed his valuable youth for the sake of revolutionary comrades and Kil Yong Jo who set a fine example in devotedly defending the leader to the last moments of his life and many other heroes in the Songun era are shining with their alma maters.

U.S. and Japanese military nexus slammed

Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- Bush and the Japanese chief executive at the press conference held at the end of the talks in Crawford of the U.S. asserted that they have reached a complete consensus of views on the threat resulting from the nuclear program of North Korea. They blustered they would never bow to any "threat and blackmail of North Korea" and if it deteriorates the nuclear crisis, they would take stronger measures. This comes under fire by papers here today.
Rodong Sinmun in an article says that it is not the DPRK but the U.S. that is entirely to blame for the nuclear crisis on the Korean Peninsula.
    It goes on:
The successive U.S. regimes have posed nuclear blackmail and threat to the DPRK. The nuclear issue surfaced on the Korean Peninsula as the U.S. massively shipped nuclear weapons into South Korea and posed a nuclear threat to the DPRK after the war, enforcing a hostile policy towards it.
The Japanese reactionaries are threatening and blackmailing the DPRK, talking about a "preemptive attack on North Korea" and a "war against it", taking advantage of the pressure put by the U.S. upon the DPRK over its nuclear issue. The remarks of Bush and the Japanese chief executive that they would take stronger measures to cope with any deterioration of the crisis are little short of declaring to the world that they would mount a military attack on the DPRK at any moment.
Closely following the talks held between bush and the Japanese chief executive, we clearly realized how keen the U.S. and Japan are to realize their ambition to stifle the DPRK and once again renewed our determination to decisively foil it.
We will further increase the physical deterrent force powerful enough to react against any military option of enemies so as to defend our dignity, sovereignty and peace on this land.
Minju Joson in a signed commentary says that the U.S. and Japan are well advised to discontinue their groundless smear campaign against someone and immediately stop working foolishly to realize their ambition for world hegemony and reinvasion, bearing in mind that they can never escape from the world's watchful eyes.

Japanese authorities' moves to suspend service of ship "Mangyongbong-92"

Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- The Korean Committee for Aiding Overseas Compatriots Saturday issued a statement denouncing the Japanese authorities' undisguised moves to suspend the service of the ship "Mangyongbong-92" to ensure visits of Koreans in Japan to their homeland. The statement dismissed this as a vicious plot to impair the prestige of the DPRK by refusing to allow the port call of ship "Mangyongbong-92" at any cost and a new manifestation of political suppression of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and Koreans in Japan supporting and following the homeland.
The ship has fulfilled in a responsible manner a purely humanitarian mission of ensuring visits of Koreans in Japan to the DPRK without a single accident over the last more than decade according to the agreement signed between the Red-Cross organizations of the DPRK and Japan.
The ship has so far respected and strictly observed international law and practice and the Japanese law and has done nothing contradictory to it.
We cannot but take note of the fact that the Japanese authorities have become more desperate in their unreasonable moves against "Mangyongbong-92" at a time when "further steps" and "strong measure" against the DPRK were called for at the "summit talks" between Japan and the U.S. and between the U.S. and South Korea.
If this means a beginning of "sanctions" against the DPRK touted by the U.S. and its followers, it will push the situation to an unpredictable phase and bring about catastrophic consequences.
Humanitarian activities to ensure visits of Koreans in Japan to their homeland should in no way be exploited as a political plaything.
The Japanese authorities should not repeat what they did in the Cold War era to allow themselves to commit mistakes against humanity and historical responsibility by suspending even the service of "Mangyongbong-92," the only humanitarian work underway between the DPRK and Japan.
The unjust measure taken by the Japanese authorities against "Mangyongbong-92" is an unpardonable breach of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration which calls on the two countries to liquidate the unhappy past and establish new good-neighborly relations and a grave provocation endangering the fate and prospect of the declaration.
The committee strongly demands the Japanese authorities respect the basic spirit of the declaration and opt for implementing it and thus rectify their hostile policy towards the DPRK and Chongryon, a policy which goes against the trend of the times, halt at once their political plot against the ship and fully ensure its free humanitarian activities.

U.S. hit for its attempt at intensified blockade against DPRK

Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea today gave an answer to a question put by KCNA as regards the U.S. attempt at intensified blockade against the DPRK. He said:
In the statement on the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction adopted at the end of the annual G-8 talks in the French spa resort of Evian the U.S. seeks to set up an institutional mechanism to inspect and check ships and aircraft carrying nuclear substance, missile parts and equipment and materials needed for their production worldwide. This is, in essence, aimed at justifying the blockade against independent countries such as the DPRK.
The U.S. has already intensified the surveillance and control of goods shipment to and from the DPRK as never before on the strength of "agreement on tanker safety" by putting pressure on the countries where ships of the DPRK frequent.
This proves that the U.S. blockade operation to project the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. as a global issue in a bid to build an "international siege network" has already entered a phase of implementation.
The U.S. is dead set against the bilateral talks with the DPRK, persistently insisting on the multilateral talks. The U.S. ulterior intention is, in the final analysis, to get a pretext and time to intensify the international pressure and blockade against the DPRK.
The U.S. is seriously mistaken if it thinks it can lead the DPRK to collapse through international pressure and blockade.
The DPRK wants a peaceful negotiated settlement of the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula to avert a war and preserve peace in this land. But there is a limit to its sincere efforts and magnanimity.
In case it judges that the sovereignty has been violated, the DPRK will take an immediate physical retaliatory measure.
The DPRK has built up the independent national economy and strong national defence capability, pursuant to the Songun policy. Therefore, neither sanctions nor pressure can work on the DPRK.
The blockade against the DPRK will only bar the issue from being settled and aggravate the situation.
The DPRK will closely watch the U.S. moves for blockade.

Belorussian President refers to Korean issue

Pyongyang, June 7 (KCNA) -- Belorussian President Lukashenko said that he did not rule out the possibility of the U.S. and its allies putting pressure upon Iran and the DPRK by force according to the Iraqi war scenario, said Itar-Tass on June 5. But they should take into consideration the fact that Iran and the DPRK, in particular, are not Iraq, he noted.

Anti-U.S. rally held in S. Korea

Pyongyang, June 7 (KCNA) -- A group of candle-light demonstrators for national independence and peace against war who had toured the U.S. military bases since May 13 held a rally at Tongduchon city, Kyonggi Province on June 1 with students affiliated to Hanchongryon (South Korean Federation of University Student Councils), according to a news report. After greeting the group, the chairman of the Executive Committee of Citizens' Solidarity of Tongduchon, at the rally said that citizens have lived for over five decades with one third of the area of Tongduchon usurped by the U.S. troops.
"But let us pledge ourselves to vigorously struggle to protect this land and self-esteem," he urged.
The rally adopted a letter of protest demanding the U.S. nullify the trial conducted by criminals themselves, let GI killers face punishment at the South Korean court, totally revise the unequal sofa and immediately halt the war threat escalating the tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
At the end of the rally, the June 13 literary and art group gave a performance satirizing the talks held between the South Korean and U.S. chief executives in May.
Then demonstrators marched along the thoroughfare of Tongduchon, calling on the passers-by to join in the memorial service to commemorate the first anniversary of the June 13 incident.

Treacherous remarks of S. Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade

Pyongyang, June 7 (KCNA) -- Yun Yong Gwan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of South Korea, came under fire by papers here Saturday for making remarks seriously despising the north and rattling its nerves at a "social gathering" on June 4. Referring to the "nuclear issue," he said that what the north wants is "normalized relations" with the U.S. saying he was setting out a "way of settlement" calling for exchanging "dismantlement of nuclear weapons program" for "economic benefit" through negotiations, he asserted that the north should "scrap its nuclear program" first as "direct negotiations between North Korea and the U.S." are impossible at present.
Papers dismiss these remarks as ridiculous ones intended to "admonish" the north.
Rodong Sinmun in a signed commentary says:
It is a publicly recognized stark fact that it is not the U.S. but the DPRK that is exposed to the nuclear threat. Yet Yun sided with the U.S. falsifying this hard fact. This proves that he is steeped in flunkeyism and treachery to the marrow of his bone.
Whoever has the blood of the Korean nation running in his vessel should think and act for the sake of the dignity and interests of the nation and speak for the nation.
Yun's recent tongue-wagging clearly indicates that he is playing the role of a "shock brigade" and a trumpeter in service for outsiders keen on stifling the fellow countrymen.
He is well advised to wag his tongue properly, clearly mindful that he will be punished by the nation and history as a traitor if he keeps talking nonsense.
Minju Joson urges Yun to apologize for his words and step down before it is too late if he does not want to be sternly punished by the nation.

U.S. accused of its planned arms buildup

Pyongyang, June 7 (KCNA) -- The Korean army and people will answer the U.S. arms buildup with a corresponding powerful deterrent force and its preemptive attack with a prompt retaliation to destroy it at the initial stage of war. The Korean Central News Agency declared this in its statement issued today to condemn the U.S. imperialist aggression forces' "arms buildup plan".
    The statement said:
Now that what the U.S. really seeks has become clear, the DPRK has the legitimate right to counter it.
The U.S. will be seriously mistaken if it thinks its way of invading and controlling other nations as it pleases will work on the Korean Peninsula.
The DPRK's physical deterrent force, an iron shield for the country and the nation, will serve as a merciless sledge-hammer to any aggressors.
The KCNA express belief that the world people and solidarity organizations and international organizations desirous of peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula will more dynamically conduct the international anti-war, anti-U.S. struggle to frustrate the U.S. imperialists' moves for a nuclear war on the peninsula.

KCNA denounces U.S. arms buildup plan

Pyongyang, June 7 (KCNA) -- On May 31 the U.S. forces command in South Korea released the so-called arms buildup plan of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces which calls for spending 11 billion U.S. dollars in three years to come. According to it, part of the rapid deployment brigade equipped with high performance light armored cars, electronic commanding system and other ultra modern weapons are expected to be transferred to South Korea from the U.S. mainland this summer.
It is said that the arms buildup plan includes more than 100 proposals calling for the deployment of unmanned aircraft designed to carry out spy and attack missions, and the latest type patriot missiles, the introduction of high precision guided bombs and the deployment of the latest type apache helicopters, etc.
The U.S. has so far systematically beefed up its aggression troops since their occupation of South Korea and is hell-bent on arms buildup for mass killings, which requires a huge amount of money. This is an unpardonable development.
The arms buildup plan was announced by the U.S. at a time when it is calling for a military attack on the DPRK over its nuclear issue. This proves that "further steps" clarified in the "joint statement" South Korea made public with the U.S. recently have entered the phase of full implementation and the U.S. nuclear war against the DPRK is not just an option on the table but is becoming a reality.
What is arousing our indignation is the fact that the U.S. military bosses are openly disclosing their attempt at attacking the north by claiming that their arms buildup plan is to break through somebody's front in case of emergency on the Korean Peninsula and advance straight toward Pyongyang.
The prevailing situation goes to clearly prove that it was quite right for the DPRK to have declared in the message to all the Koreans its stand that its self-defensive war deterrent force provides a sure guarantee for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
The KCNA vehemently denounces the U.S. dangerous arms buildup plan on behalf of all Koreans who value the dignity of the country and the peace of the nation.
Voices calling for the pullout of the U.S. forces are now ringing louder in South Korea in the run-up to the first anniversary of the murder of schoolgirls by a U.S. armored car.
However, the U.S. is massively beefing up its aggression forces there, which is an outright challenge to the desire and demand of our nation.
The U.S. has kept South Korea under its military rule for nearly 60 years, repressing its inhabitants at the point of bayonet and indiscriminately killing them. And it is now hell-bent on arms buildup, the largest-ever in the postwar period. Such moves are a prelude to the U.S. moves to dampen the South Korean people's desire for independence against the U.S. and war and ignite a war that may bring immeasurable disasters to the Korean Peninsula.
It is clear to everyone that such reinforcements would make the bellicose GIs more brutal in killing and bring greater economic damage and disaster to South Korea and pose a more serious threat to peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula.
Now that what the U.S. really seeks has become clear, the DPRK has the legitimate right to counter such moves.
The U.S. will be seriously mistaken if it thinks its way of invading and controlling other nations as it pleases will work on the Korean Peninsula.
The DPRK's physical deterrent force, an iron shield for the country and the nation, will serve as a merciless sledge-hammer to any aggressors.
Our army and people will answer the U.S. arms buildup with a corresponding powerful deterrent force and its preemptive attack with a prompt retaliation to destroy it at the initial stage of war.
The U.S. imperialists should clearly know that the South Korean people holding high the torch of anti-U.S. struggle are no longer a powerless people in the past, who had meekly obeyed the U.S. military rule.
The people from all walks of life in South Korea should decisively reject the dangerous arms buildup of the U.S. imperialists intended to turn South Korea into the largest arsenal for a nuclear war and bring a nuclear disaster to the whole Korean nation. And they should wage a more vigorous struggle to force the U.S. forces, source of aggression and war, to withdraw from South Korea.
The KCNA expresses belief that the world people and solidarity organizations and international organizations desirous of peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula will more dynamically conduct the international anti-war, anti-U.S. struggle to frustrate the U.S. imperialists' moves for a nuclear war on the peninsula.
