Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il inspects KPA navy unit

     Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il inspected unit 388 of the navy of the Korean People's Army on Wednesday. Guided by the commander of the unit, Kim Jong Il looked round the monuments to President Kim Il Sung's field guidance and on-the-spot instructions.
    Looking back with deep emotion on the days when the president steered the work to build the navy, he said that the immortal exploits the president performed by training the unit as an invincible combat contingent will shine forever with the history of the unit that has covered a glorious road of victory. He acquainted himself with the unit's performance of its duty, looking round fire positions.
    Noting with great satisfaction that the commanding officers and men are not only performing their guard duties in a responsible manner, keeping themselves fully ready to foil the U.S. imperialists' moves for aggression, but have established a revolutionary trait of training to become one-match-for-a hundred fighters proficient in combat and technical equipment, he set forth important tasks which would serve as guidelines in increasing the unit's combat capability in every way.

    Noting that this admirable success represents a new culture in the Songun era created by the People's Army, the most revolutionary, militant and powerful ranks of the revolution in our society, he called on all members of the society to earnestly learn from the idea, spirit, fighting trait, work style, cultural entertainment and the way of life of our revolutionary army.
    He had a photograph taken with servicemen of the unit after giving a pair of binoculars and an automatic rifle to them as gifts.

Greetings exchanged between foreign ministers of Korea and Nigeria

     Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- DPRK Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun exchanged messages of greetings with Nigerian Foreign Minister Alhaji Sule Lamido on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Paek Nam Sun said that he is rejoiced over the fact that the friendly and cooperative relations with long historical traditions between the two countries have favorably developed under the deep concern of President Obasanjo and the Nigerian government, and wished the Nigerian Foreign Minister greater success in his responsible work.
    Alhaji Sule Lamido reiterated the stand of the Nigerian government and people supporting the will of the DPRK government and people to settle the issue of reunification by themselves without any interference of foreign forces under the tested leadership of Kim Jong Il, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army.

Sacred struggle against U.S. called for

     Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- The propaganda department of the central committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea on May 26 made public an appeal on the occasion of the first anniversary of the death of two schoolgirls by a U.S. armored car. The appeal called upon the South Korean people to turn out in a decisive struggle to retake the sovereignty of the nation and defend peace in the Korean Peninsula under the banner of independence against the U.S.
    The appeal said:
    The last year witnessed the vigorous struggle of the South Korean people to punish thrice-cursed Yankee murderers by themselves and their firm spirit of anti-U.S. independence to put an end to the U.S. colonial rule by their own efforts.
    But their desire has not yet been realized. All the people should rise up in a decisive battle against the U.S. to expel the U.S., retake sovereignty and defend the vital right of the nation and peace in the Korean Peninsula.
    The appeal called for taking an active part in a grand people's candle-light March marking the first anniversary of the death of the two schoolgirls on June 13 to hold higher the torch of independence against the U.S. in a bid to punish the U.S. killers and let bush make an open apology to the last.
    It also called for smashing the U.S. "nuclear racket" with the anti-U.S. struggle of all the people, defending the destiny of the nation and peace in the Korean Peninsula and decisively frustrating Bush's reckless moves for a nuclear war against the north by the concerted efforts of the 70 million fellow countrymen.
    It called for shattering the moves of the South Korean Grand National Party and other pro-U.S. traitors for cooperation with foreign forces and cooperation in war and accelerating the reunification movement under the uplifted banner of the June 15 Joint Declaration.

No military scenario acceptable

     Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 23 stated that the stand of Russia and China is that they can not accept any military scenario for the solution of the issue on the Korean Peninsula, according to Itar-Tass. Russia and China hold that the security of the DPRK should be guaranteed and conditions favorable for the socio-economic development of the country should be provided, he noted.
    He stressed that the dialogue between the DPRK and the United States is important for handling the situation.

Cooperation between Koreans called for

     Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- The world public asserted that national cooperation is the only way of foiling the nuclear campaign of the United States, defending the sovereignty and security of the Korean nation and achieving the independent and peaceful reunification of the country. The Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party (Marxist) in a statement noted that the historic Pyongyang meeting and the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration enabled the Korean nation to open a new chapter for reunification through national reconciliation and unity under the great motto "by our nation itself".
    Brisk cooperation and exchange between the north and the south of Korea including reconnecting the rail and road links clearly prove that the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration serves as an unchangeable milestone for Korea's reunification, the statement said.
    The Workers' Party of Bangladesh in a statement said that great national unity and national cooperation provide a right way of fighting against the U.S. imperialists and it is also the privilege of the Korean people to seek them.
    The Nigerian National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea said in a statement if the north and the south strengthen the solidarity and alliance between them irrespective of difference in ideology, religious belief and system, they can deepen the understanding and trust and pool their will and efforts for the common purpose of the nation and, in this course, promote great national unity and reunify the country at last.

Book "Constitution and Dietary Remedies"

     Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- The Science and Encyclopedia Publishing House of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has published the book "Constitution and Dietary Remedies". Contained in the book are dietary remedies developed to suit the four types of physical constitution from old times and clinical experiences introduced by authors of books.
    The book consists of three chapters and an appendix.
    Chapter 1 introduces general knowledge of constitutional medicine and Koryo constitutional medicine -- four-type constitutional medicine.
    Chapter 2 edits the principles of selecting foodstuffs suitable for constitution and foodstuffs divided according to four-type constitution, their nutritive ingredients and efficacy and examples of their application.
    Chapter 3 deals with foodstuffs efficacious for respiratory, circulatory, digestive, urinary and genital troubles, psychoneurosis, etc. and their cooking method according to the type of constitution.
    The appendix introduces dishes that should not be taken together, medicinal stuff and food materials that should not be mixed with each other, and first-aid measures for digestive upset.

National customs carried forward in DPRK

     Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- Excellent national customs have been carried forward in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. A folk street is being constructed in Sariwon, a gateway to the capital city of Pyongyang.
    The garment institute under the Ministry of Light Industry has designed new models of beautiful and graceful chima (skirt), jogori (jacket) and wedding dress.
    The Korean women are fond of chima and jogori. The Pothongmun Tailor's Shop for Korean Clothes in the heart of Pyongyang has accepted an increasing number of orders for chima and jogori.
    The Chongnyu Restaurant in Pyongyang, which is famous for Korean dishes, is giving a finishing touch to the compilation of an electronic book introducing thousands of dishes peculiar to different local areas. Jang Chol Gu Pyongyang University of Commerce has discovered over 1,100 kinds of local dishes across the country.
    Folk songs and dances enjoy popularity at theatres.
    Pak Hyong Sop, director of the Korean Institute of National Music and Dance, told KCNA that the institute recently discovered and renewed folk dances including "pearl and coral".
    It has also found out more than ten folk songs such as "kinari" widely sung by the people in the area of Kangwon Province, he said.
    The Lunar New Year's Day and the 15th of the first lunar month were grandly celebrated this year.
    Colorful folk amusements such as kite flying and shuttlecock were held on the traditional holidays. Seen in pleasure grounds and parks are people dancing to the tune of folk music and playing Korean chess and yut.

Program Center under Ministry of Education

     Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- The Program Center under the Ministry of Education plays a pivotal role in the training of it experts. It makes researches to lay foundations of it education and update it, and reeducates it teachers.
    It writes textbooks for it education, works out teaching schedules and develops various programs including the Korean processing program and the education-supporting program.
    It has successfully written some 20 textbooks for classes of computer talents of Kum Song Middle School No. 1 and Kum Song School and thus made a great contribution to training it personnel.
    It has also published over 120 it books including "library for it education" (two volumes) and "collection of computer books" (three volumes) and widely disseminated them through local computer networks.
    It vocabularies have been standardized by the center. The "dictionary of standard it vocabularies" compiled by it is widely used by Koreans in the north, south and abroad for the it development.

Libyan diplomats help Korean farmers

     Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- Secretary Ahmed Amer al Muakkaf and members of the people's bureau of the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya in the DPRK yesterday helped members of the DPRK-Libya Friendship Jangchon Cooperative Farm in the suburbs of Pyongyang in their work. During break they had a recreation party and conversed with farmers, deepening the friendship.
    Saying he was pleased to work with the farmers, the secretary of the bureau wished them great success in their agricultural production under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.
    Members of the people's bureau conveyed aid materials to the farm.

Union members meet former unconverted long-term prisoners

     Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- Officials of the central committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea and union officials and members of ministries and national institutions met the former unconverted long-term prisoners, patriotic champions of reunification, on may 28. Ri Kyong Gu and Pak Wan Gyu, former unconverted long-term prisoners, said that they kept their pledge and political principles for the sake of the revolution at the cold prison in the south and came back to the socialist homeland as proud sons of the country because moral obligation to the party and the leader and confidence in revolutionary victory were enshrined in the heart.
    They pointed out that former unconverted long-term prisoners, leading a happy life to their heart's content at the climax of life, keenly felt that the embrace of leader Kim Jong Il is that of great love taking care of the destiny and future of all revolutionary soldiers.

Adherence to principle of Songun called for

     Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- The DPRK is pushing forward the revolution and construction its own way according to its own idea and faith under the uplifted banner of independence despite the imperialists' moves to stifle it because it has firmly abided by the principle of Songun in politics, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. It goes on:
    The principle of Songun is the most revolutionary and just one as it makes it possible for a country and a nation to protect its sovereignty, reliably guarantee it and advance the revolution and construction its own way to meet the specific conditions of the country.
    Nothing is more foolish an idea than to expect any mercy from the imperialists as they have been militarized to the maximum and are desperately working to dominate the world, brandishing even nuclear weapons, overconfident of their strength.
    The lesson drawn from the disturbing developments on the international arena today teaches that a step of concession and compromise with the imperialists would bring a war and disaster.
    The only way of protecting the sovereignty and the dignity of the country in face of the imperialists' high-handed and arbitrary practices is to increase the military power. It is possible for a nation to defend its right to existence and sovereignty only when it has a military deterrent force strong enough to contain the imperialists' aggression.
    In order to firmly maintain independence in politics it is necessary to increase the political and ideological potentials the core of which is military power.

S. Korean forces infiltrate warships into north's territorial waters

     Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- The South Korean military recently infiltrated one warship after another into the territorial waters in the West Sea of Korea, according to military sources. Today the South Korean military perpetrated such military provocation as illegally infiltrating one patrol boat into the territorial waters of the north side south of Tungsangot from about 5:00 to 7:00. It also infiltrated two speedboats and another patrol boat into the north's territorial waters southwest of Yonphyong islets at about 11:15 and at about 12:48 respectively.
    On May 27 it infiltrated three warships deep into the territorial waters of the north side east of Tungsangot from about 16:00 to about 18:00. On May 28 it dispatched 16 warships into the north's territorial waters southeast of Sunwi islet and southwest of Yonphyong islets nine times.
    The ceaseless infiltration of warships into the waters where serious military conflicts occurred last year can not be construed otherwise than a premeditated and deliberate provocation on the part of the South Korean military to spark one more new shocking incident in these waters, joining the u.s. imperialists in their desperate "nuclear racket."
    The South Korean military authorities should not midjudge the self-restraint of soldiers of the Korean People's Army but stop running amuck, well aware that any slightest military provocation may entail irrevocable serious consequences.

Kim Jong Il inspects KPA unit

    de hacerse realidad estas "medidas" el territorio patrio de tres mil ri se arruinara y toda la nacion coreana sufrira catastrofe por granizadas nucleares.
    el unico medio para remediar la situacion actual que produce gran preocupacion de la nacion coreana y preservar la paz del pais y la seguridad de la nacion es disponer de la poderosa fuerza de freno a la guerra.
