Japan urged to stop reckless anti-DPRK campaign

Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- The Japanese authorities, including the chief executive, are busy discussing the matter of such international pressure on the DPRK as "restriction on remittance" and "ban on the export of weapons of mass destruction." Rodong Sinmun today in a commentary denounces such moves as a provocation to seriously get on the DPRK's nerves.
The intention of the Japanese reactionaries is to invariably seek confrontation with the DPRK and reinvade Korea with the help of the U.S. imperialists, the news analyst points out, and says:
They regard the U.S. escalated pressure on the DPRK over the nuclear issue as a good opportunity to turn Japan into a military power and stage a comeback to Korea.
The bellicose forces of Japan are undisguisedly advocating the theory of preemptive attack on the DPRK. This is an open military threat to the DPRK and agitation for reinvasion of Korea.
We take this opportunity to reclarify the stand of our army and people. The DPRK will take a serious view of Japan's intensified anti-DPRK campaign and take a strong counteraction against it.
If the Japanese reactionaries persistently engage themselves in such anti-DPRK campaign, supporting the U.S. pressure on the DPRK over the nuclear issue, Japan's security will not be guaranteed and it may entail catastrophic consequences.
They are well advised not to make a rash act.

Troop dispatch for U.S. opposed in South Korea

Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity of Youth and Students for the Implementation of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration reportedly issued a statement on May 15 under the title "Immediate Stop to Troop Dispatch for the U.S., Root Cause of War Crisis on Korean Peninsula." Referring to the fact that the second batch of a South Korean army to be dispatched to Iraq left for the spot, the statement accused the government and the national assembly of dispatching troops in defiance of the people's anti-U.S., anti-war struggle and their demand for the withdrawal of troop dispatch.
The Iraqi war was an illegal war, a war of aggression, totally ignoring the united nations and wantonly violating the international law, the statement said, and went on:
The invasion of Iraq was part of preparations for putting the Korean Peninsula under control.
The Bush administration is keen to make preparations for a preemptive strike on the north.
Only the Korean nation of the same blood and language in the north and the south can defend independence and peace in the Korean Peninsula.

Japanese spy satellites being watched

Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- Spy satellites launched by Japan for espionage on the DPRK are being watched by astronomy amateurs of different countries and becoming an object of public ridicule. The British newspaper The Times on May 5 reported that after Japan launched two spy satellites some astronomy amateurs spotted them and photographed their movements and are trying to open to the public their orbit through internet.
According to a news report, the two spy satellites were launched in March and are chiefly aimed to spy on the military movements of Korea.
but they are being observed by astronomy amateurs of different countries.
Finnish astronomy amateurs were the first to photograph the Japanese spy satellites and then an astronomy amateur of Canada located their movements. According to them, the spy satellites can be seen in the sky in a sunny day.
The Hong Kong newspaper Ming Pao Daily News on May 6 carried the report of the British newspaper The Times that the Japanese spy satellites with a mission to watch other countries are being watched by people on the contrary.

KCNA accuses U.S. of its arbitrary practices on international arena

Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- At the recent second meeting of the preparatory committee to examine the implementation of the NPT held in Geneva, the United States charged the DPRK with the breach of the NPT and cried out for "punishing" it. The U.S. deputy assistant secretary of state who was chief delegate of the U.S. side at the meeting hinted at the necessity for a strong counteraction, blustering that those states blocking the implementation of the IAEA's commitments must suffer serious consequences.
This was a concentric expression of another arbitrary practice on the international arena as it was nothing but a foolish and shameless attempt of the U.S. to flee from the responsibility for sparking the nuclear crisis on the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S. act of charging the DPRK with the violation of the NPT is nothing but a plot to mislead the public opinion in a bid to internationally isolate and stifle the DPRK.
The DPRK has already pulled out of the NPT. No one can take issue with this as it was a just self-defensive step taken against the U.S. moves to stifle the DPRK with nukes and the unreasonable behavior of the IAEA. Ever since its withdrawal from the NPT, the DPRK has made every possible effort for the peaceful settlement of its "nuclear issue" caused by the U.S. as the former values the peace and stability in and around the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S. is, however, peddling the "nuclear issue" on the Korean Peninsula on the international arena while talking about its "peaceful solution." This indicates that the U.S. is challenging the efforts of the DPRK for its peaceful settlement and keen on putting undisguised pressure on it.
What is noteworthy is that there is no justification to deal with the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula at the abovesaid meeting as the DPRK is no longer a signatory to the NPT.
It is a well-known fact that the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula is a product of the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK from a to z.
Ever since its emergence the present U.S. administration has escalated its hostile policy toward the DPRK and wantonly violated all the international agreements including the NPT by listing it as part of an "axis of evil" and a target of a preemptive nuclear attack.
If the preparatory committee is to successfully perform its function, it should discuss the criminal acts committed by the U.S. as the biggest nuclear proliferator in gross breach of the NPT and force it to own responsibility under international law.
The U.S. should not be so foolish as to bring the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula to the international arena but make a switchover in its hostile policy toward the DPRK, the key to settling the issue.

All Koreans called upon to vent their bitter grudge against GIs

Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- The truth about GIs' massacre of prisoners in Jonju prison in South Korea in the past was recently clarified by documents and photos of the U.S. government, remains of slain civilians were unearthed from different parts of South Korea and witnesses testified to GIs' shuddering massacre of civilians before and after the last Korean war. In this regard Rodong Sinmun today says in a signed commentary:
All this proves that it was none other than the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces present in South Korea who killed a million civilians and the probe into the fact has been strongly demanded in South Korea.
The history of their occupation of South Korea that has lasted for over half a century was a bloody one of terrorism, assassination and massacre.
GIs killed 25,000 civilians in cold blood when South Koreans rose up against the U.S. forces' occupation and the harsh fascist rule in October 1946.
In April 1948 when Jeju islanders waged a popular uprising against the U.S. imperialists' moves for separate election and separate government in South Korea, GIs killed over 35,000 or over a quarter of the population of the island.
They killed more than 38,800 people in Seoul in just three days from September 28, 1950.
The United States is a ferocious strangler of the Korean nation and an empire of evil as it has kept South Korea under its military occupation for more than half a century and killed so many innocent people.
The U.S., the sworn enemy of the Koreans, is rendering the situation on the Korean Peninsula extremely tense under the pretext of "nuclear issue", bringing dark clouds of a nuclear war to hang over the Korean nation, as if it were not enough with the mass killings of Koreans it has perpetrated so far.
The Korean nation with high national dignity and self-respect will no longer allow itself to suffer from GIs. The departed souls of innocent Koreans killed by GIs in cold blood are calling for taking revenge upon them.
All Koreans are called upon to give vent to their pent-up grudge against the U.S. imperialist aggressors.

Anecdote about Kim Jong Il

Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il received the sad news of an official's demise while in his local inspection tour in May Juche 70 (1981). He immediately left for Pyongyang in defiance of pouring rains. But a deluge paralyzed the traffic. The only detour was a railway bridge 20 meters high and 100 meters long under which the river was torrentially flowing.
He stepped foot on the perilous railway bridge without hesitation, saying that the official faithful to the party had passed away.
After crossing the bridge, he walked a long way along the railway track.
When he arrived at the place where there was the coffin of the deceased, he bade last farewell to the dead in tears.

Moran Hill

Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- Moran Hill, well known for its scenic beauty, is standing near the River Taedong, which runs through Pyongyang. Hundreds of species of plants grow on the hill. The growing foliage and flowers in full bloom landscape the hill.
There are on the hill many relics built in the period of Koguryo including Ulmil, Choesung, Chongnyu and Pubyok pavilions, Chilsong, Jongum and Hyonmu gates. They show the time-honored history of Pyongyang.
Enjoying spring in the Ulmil pavilion and viewing the rising moon from the Pubyok pavilion have been noted as one of the eight beautiful sights of Pyongyang.
From old times, the Pyongyangites have handed down many legends associated with Moran Hill. Among them are "General Ulmil" which tells of the ancestors' valiant fight for defending the country against foreign invaders in the period of Koguryo, "Gate of Happiness" Related with Chilsong Gate and "Ulmil Fairies".
Moran Hill, which was devastated in the past Korean war started by the U.S. imperialists, has turned into a recreation resort.
Artificial falls including Moran and Chongnyu falls and Sungri, Phyonghwa, Aeryon, Rokum, Songga, Ondal and other pavilions have made their appearance on the hill. And there are swinging, Korean wrestling and seesawing sites here and there.
Holiday-makers enjoy themselves at the Moranbong Theatre where the north-south joint conference was held in April Juche 37 (1948), open-air theatre of youth park with more than 20,000 seats, plants exhibition where one can see over 200 species of plants, Kaeson youth park with fun-fair facilities, Moran Restaurant which is proud of Korean-style architecture, soft-drink stands and other catering facilities.

Kimchi pickle, effective cure for skin aging

Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- Kimchi pickle, widely known Koreans' all-season staple food, has proved effective in resisting skin aging and preventing skin from being injured by ultraviolet rays. Experiments show that the skin of a rat that has eaten Kimchi for 140 days is far thicker than that of an ordinary one.
It has also been found that the corneous layer of the former's cell is thin and dense in comparison with the latter's.
The ultraviolet rays caused combustion in the former's skin cells far less than in the latter's.
The ingredients of Kimchi pickle are cabbage, radish and other vegetables plus red pepper, garlic, fruit and salted fish.

KCNA refutes sheer lies spread by South Korea

Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- South Korean CBS, citing a Seoul-based foreign report, recently released a false report that "Kil Jae Gyong, deputy department director of the office of secretaries" of the DPRK and "two others sought asylum in the U.S. through a third country." The CBS also said that "Yom Jin Chol, son of first deputy department director Yom Ki Sun also sought refuge during his business trip to a third country."
These are whopping lies and sheer fabrications made by those engrossed in the anti-DPRK smear campaign.
Kil Jae Gyong died of illness in June 2000. His remains are buried in the Patriotic Martyrs' Cemetery in Sinmiri, Pyongyang.
Though tricksters are experts at dreaming up lies, how can they assert that the deceased sought asylum in the U.S. across an ocean?
They will blush themselves with shame over telling the most sheer lies for a smear campaign if they visit the cemetery and confirm the fact with their own eyes.
As far as Han Myong Chol, vice-president of the Jogwang Trading Corporation, who they claimed sought refuge in the U.S. with Kil Jae Gyong, is concerned, he is now active at his post.
He appeared at a recent press conference in Macau, far from seeking asylum.
The same is true of Yom Ki Sun's son. He is now carrying out his routine duty.
If Yom Jin Chol is in a foreign country where he sought refuge as tricksters claim, he must be a bogus one serving their sinister political purpose.
The more sheer lies political plot-breeders spread, the more glaringly they reveal their true colors as anti-DPRK smear campaigners.
What they seek in this burlesque in South Korea is to impair the political system in the DPRK, tarnish the image of the north where single-hearted unity has been achieved and isolate and stifle it at any cost. But that is no more than a pipe dream.
The South Korean tricksters should apologize for such clumsy smear campaign launched against the DPRK in a bid to cripple its image and stop such farce at once, clearly understanding the revolutionary faith and will of our people who are advancing to build a great prosperous power in firm unity.
