Anti-U.S. surprise demonstration in S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- Over 30 students under the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils reportedly held a surprise demonstration in front of the U.S. embassy in Seoul on March 26. The students stood on the wall of the embassy building, holding U.S. flags bearing slogans "Go to Bush" and shouting "No War" and other slogans. They also scattered the texts of a statement demanding the U.S. halt the Iraqi war of aggression and remove the danger of war from the Korean Peninsula.
Noting that Iraq has turned into a hell on earth due to thousands of missiles launched by the U.S., the statement urged the U.S. to immediately stop its mass killings and barbarous war of aggression in Iraq.
It is as clear as noonday that the next target of the U.S. invasion is the Korean Peninsula, the statement said, adding:
"You must know well your aggressive design on the whole world compelled us to stand on this place."
    The statement went on:
We can not tolerate the U.S. war of aggression against Iraq.
We can not remain a passive onlooker to the war clouds hanging over the Korean Peninsula.
Our actions against the U.S. and the war of mass killing will rage wherever GIs, aggressors, go in this land.

Seminar on Korean situation held in Belgium

Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- A seminar on the subject of "the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula. Where is threat coming from?" was held in Brussels on Mar. 14 under the sponsorship of the Belgian Institute of International Affairs. The seminar was addressed by Baudouin Deckers, member of the political bureau of the Belgian Labor Party, Guy Dupre, secretary general of the International Liaison Committee for Reunification and Peace in Korea, and Pierre Pierar, vice-chairman of the Physicians' Association for the Prevention of Nuclear War.
Referring to the fact that the United States has become undisguised in its reckless nuclear racket, talking about the DPRK's possession of "nukes" as regards the DPRK government's measure to withdraw from the NPT, the speakers said that the U.S. is the very one who has scrapped the 1994 DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework and threatened the DPRK with nukes.
They denounced the U.S. for resorting to far-fetched arguments as if it is exposed to "nuclear threat" from the DPRK, while having the greatest nuclear arms arsenals in the world.
They said that the U.S. created the "nuclear crisis" against the DPRK for the purpose of realizing its strategic ambition.

Meeting of Korean scholars for reunification held

Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- A meeting of Korean scholars in the north and the south of Korea and overseas for reunification was held at the People's Palace of Culture over March 26-27. Attending the meeting were a north side delegation headed by Kang Un Bin, chairman of the DPRK Society of Social Politics, a south side delegation led by Paek Yong Chol, rector of the college of politics of Konkuk University, and an overseas delegation led by prof. Song Tu Ryul of Munster University of Germany.
Teachers and researchers in the field of social science of the DPRK were present as observers.
The meeting discussed the matters arising in upholding and implementing the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and protecting national security and peace.
Heads of the north, south and overseas delegations made opening addresses, which were followed by speeches of delegates from the three sides.
Speakers referred to the signal achievements and progress made in the north-south relations and the movement for national reunification since the adoption of the historic joint declaration nearly three years ago.
Saying that the basic idea of the declaration is "by our nation itself", they proved that it is the unshakable Juche-based stand of depending on the nation, not outside forces, to settle the issue of the nation. It is also a perfectly independent and realistic, just stand to solve the issue by the efforts of the nation in keeping with the demand and interests of the nation and specific conditions, they said.
Today when independence and reunification have become an irresistible trend of the nation's history, there exists on the Korean Peninsula the confrontation between the entire Korean nation and the United States, not distrust and confrontation between the north and the south, they noted. All the Koreans in the north and the south and overseas should join efforts and unite with each other on the principle of placing the common interests of the nation above anything else, irrespective of ideology, ism and system.
Preserving peace on the Korean Peninsula is essential for the sovereignty and security of the nation, the creation of preconditions for the peaceful reunification of the country, the removal of misunderstanding and distrust between the north and the south and the national unity, they said, adding: the only way for it is for all the fellow countrymen to take the road of national independence, decisively frustrate the outsiders' moves for a new war and work hard to see a non-aggression pact concluded between the DPRK and the U.S.
They called upon the Korean scholars in the north and the south and overseas to bear their heavy responsibility for the times and the nation deep in mind and strengthen cooperation, closely united under the banner of the joint declaration, so as to contribute to ensuring peace on the Korean Peninsula and accelerating the independent reunification of the country.
Closing addresses were made by the heads of the north, south and overseas delegations.

Widespread anti-war campaign in S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- Actions against the U.S. Iraqi war were staged by people of different social strata in South Korea on March 24 and 25, according to KBS of South Korea. Members of at least 40 civic and social organizations staged a demonstration in front of the "National Assembly" building on march 25 to prevent the "National Assembly" from passing the "motion calling for troop dispatch to the war." More than 60 members of civic organizations including the citizens' solidarity for democratic society climbed over the wall of the assembly building to stage a demo opposing the dispatch.
The general student councils of 13 universities in Seoul including Seoul National University in a statement warned that those assemblymen who support the motion would be recorded in history as war criminals.
At least 4,000 citizens participating in a huge candlelight demonstration staged before the assembly building on march 24 strongly urged the U.S. to stop the military attack on Iraq at once and the authorities to cancel their plan to dispatch troops to the Iraqi war.
That day, the South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the Federation of (South) Korean Trade Unions held a press conference. Representatives of civic organizations handed the secretariat of the assembly a signature paper signed by 40,000 people in protest against the authorities' troop dispatch and visited the building of the Democratic Party (DP) to demand it oppose the motion at the assembly.
The South Korean Catholic Priests' Association for Justice had a peace mass in Kwanghwamun opposing the war and troop dispatch while national assemblywomen from the DP and members of women organizations including the women's society for peace held a press conference.
More than 400 members of the joint action for peace against war, the All-People Measure Committee for Sin Hyo Sun and Sim Mi Son, Schoolgirls Killed by a U.S. armored car, and other civic and social organizations went on a sit-in strike from the night of march 24 to the early morning of the next day.

It is a great pride and glory of the Korean people that they have such a great leader as eternal President of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Koreans vow to fight aggressors

Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- Many people have visited the victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum with the situation of the Korean Peninsula getting all the more acute due to the reckless military manoeuvres started by the United States and South Korea against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Lecturers are heroes who performed feats in the Korean War, serving in different services and arms.
They brief the visitors on the invincible might of the heroic Korean people, who defeated the U.S. invaders for the first time in history. And they speak of the crime-woven history of the United States, which has wrecked peace in all parts of the world by dint of aggression, plunder, destruction and arbitrariness, and the aggressors' crimes in the 3-year Korean War.
The veterans also give explanations of President Kim Il Sung's Juche-based military ideas, outstanding commanding art, noble virtues and imperishable exploits, and patriotism, mass heroism, lofty spirit and moral traits of the Korean people and servicemen.
They reveal the aggressive nature of the Iraqi war and condemn the "Foal Eagle" and "reception, staging, onward movement and integration", large-scale war exercises going on in South Korea against the DPRK.
Hearing their explanations, the visitors are determined to annihilate the U.S. imperialists, the sworn enemy of the Korean people, if they unleash another war in Korea.

Struggle against U.S. interference and aggression called for

Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article calls on the entire Korean nation to resolutely fight against the U.S. high-handed interference and aggressive moves disturbing peace and reunification of the Korean nation. The U.S. imperialist aggressor forces and the South Korean army are staging large-scale madcap joint military exercises targeted against the north in South Korea with U.S. ultra-modern military hardware including nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Carl Vinson additionally deployed in and around South Korea, the article says, adding: This clearly indicates that the U.S. attempt to provoke a war against the DPRK has reached the phase of its realization.
This reckless saber-rattling of the U.S. is aimed to vitiate the atmosphere of reconciliation and unity of the Korean nation, totally block the way of independent reunification by provoking a nuclear war and thus dominate the DPRK by force of arms.
The U.S. is not only chiefly to blame for the division of the Korean nation but the no. one enemy standing in the way of independent and peaceful reunification of the country, the cherished desire of the whole Korean nation.
The U.S. is the harasser of peace and the root cause of war on the Korean Peninsula, while the Koreans in the north and the south are responsible for defending the peace and averting a war. Therefore, there exists on the Korean Peninsula only confrontation between the Koreans in the north and the south and the U.S. all the Koreans in the north, south and overseas should fulfill their responsibility and play their role in the struggle to achieve peace and reunification of Korea.
National cooperation is the best way for the Korean nation to clear the Korean Peninsula of the danger of war, defend the dignity and sovereignty of the nation and achieve peace and reunification of the country.
National cooperation based on the idea of "by our nation itself", the main spirit of the north-south joint declaration, is a sure guarantee for independence, peace and reunification.
All Koreans in the north, south and overseas should put the common interests of the nation above anything else and unite close under the banner of national sovereignty and patriotism as required by the era of national cooperation, irrespective of ideology, political view and religious belief.

DPRK strong enough to beat back any enemy's invasion

Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- The DPRK is a socialist military power of Juche which wins one victory after another under the banner of the great army-based policy, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. It goes on:
Kim Jong Il's unique army-based idea and policy serve as an original revolutionary line and an ever-victorious banner in our times. This provided a new landmark in building a socialist military power of Juche.
The revolutionary ranks in the DPRK have turned into elite and powerful forces with the revolutionary army as a model and an all-people defensive system has been established throughout the country and it remains indestructible strongly backed by the independent and powerful national defence industry.
The revolutionary spirit of soldiers created by the Korean People's Army has become a spirit of the times and its traits of fighting and living prevail throughout the society. The army and the people share the same idea and fighting spirit based on the revolutionary spirit of soldiers, greatly instrumental in augmenting the might of the single-hearted unity, the politico-ideological strength.
All the people in the DPRK are stepping up the building of a powerful nation holding a rifle in one hand and a hammer or sickle in the other. National defence and assistance to the army are considered as all-people undertakings representing their patriotism and military service is regarded as an honorable duty and pride of a citizen.
The people have enshrined the faith that they can not live without bullets any more than they can without drops of sweets.
They have laid a material and technical foundation solid enough to repel any enemy's invasion despite so hard conditions. These are a shining fruition of Kim Jong Il's unique army-based policy.
The DPRK will demonstrate its might as a socialist military power of Juche as long as there are his unique army-based policy and invincible revolutionary armed forces.

Dangerous preliminary war aimed at second Korean war flailed

Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- The DPRK-targeted Foal Eagle Joint Military Exercise and reception, staging, onward-movement and integration exercise of the U.S. and South Korea now under way in South Korea are, in fact, a preliminary war aimed at another Korean war, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. It goes on:
We cannot but take a serious view of the large-scale frantic test nuclear war, a preliminary war against the DPRK staged by the U.S. on the sidelines of the Iraqi war.
It is becoming certain that in case the U.S. imperialists' invasion of Iraq is "successful," they will wage a new war of aggression on the Korean Peninsula at the same time or move the stage of "anti-terrorist war" to the Korean Peninsula in high spirits to invade the DPRK after occupying Iraq.
Under this situation the large-scale war exercises may go over to a real war any time.
After the "September 11 incident" in the new century the bush bellicose forces formulated the "anti-terrorist" strategy as the military strategy of the 21st century and opened its first act with the Afghanistan war and its second act with the Iraqi war.
There is no doubt that they will open its third act on the Korean Peninsula.
But they should clearly understand it.
The DPRK is not Afghanistan nor Iraq.
We have the invincible and powerful army-based policy, single-hearted unity and self-defensive national power that no one in the world has.

DPRK Foreign Ministry spokesman blasts Japan's launch of spy satellite

Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry answered a question put by KCNA today as regards Japan's launch of a spy satellite. This morning Japan launched a spy satellite by using a large carrier rocket H-2A.
The DPRK has already warned Japan that the launch would be a hostile act against the DPRK and a serious threat to it.
Nevertheless, Japan launched the satellite to spy on the DPRK, wantonly violating the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration in which both sides committed themselves to refrain from doing any act threatening the other side.
The satellite launch deprived Japan of any justification and qualification to talk about the DPRK's satellite launch.
Japan will be held wholly responsible for sparking a new arms race in Northeast Asia.
