U.S. long-range fighter bombers to be forward-deployed

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is busy forward-deploying long-range fighter bombers to mount preemptive attacks on the DPRK, according to a news report. A spokesman for the U.S. Department of Defense on March 4 said that 24 fighter bombers are moving to Guam Island, according to its decision adopted on Feb. 28.
He publicly declared that an order was issued to forward-deploy more U.S. Forces in Northeast Asia.

KCNA refutes Bush's bellicose remarks

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- U.S. President Bush Tuesday said in an interview with 14 newspapers from around the country that if the diplomatic effort fails to solve North Korea's "nuclear issue," "a military option is its last choice." He referred to the "military option" again after he disclosed that the "United States is keeping all options on the table in dealing with North Korea." It is a very dangerous war outcry driving the military situation on the Korean Peninsula to the brink of war as it is an undisguised revelation of the U.S. intention to make a preemptive strike at the DPRK's nuclear facilities for a peaceful purpose.
As far as the U.S. much-publicized "nuclear issue" on the Korean Peninsula is concerned, it can surely be solved if the U.S. has a will to settle it through dialogues and negotiations with the DPRK. By nature, the DPRK's "nuclear issue" is a product of the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK as it is a fiction Washington dreamed up in a bid to disarm Pyongyang and bring it to its knees by forcing it to scrap its nuclear program before dialogue.
In peddling the fiction about the DPRK's "nuclear development" the U.S. sought to contain the DPRK and bring it to collapse by force.
To this end the U.S. launched a large-scale "Foal Eagle" joint military exercise in South Korea.
The U.S.-led joint military maneuvers are a replica of the "Team Spirit" joint military exercise in view of their scale, nature, purpose and method of training and a test nuclear war, a preliminary war to seize the DPRK by force.
This sabre rattling is under way at a time when the DPRK-U.S. confrontation is escalating and going beyond the danger line. This goes to prove that the scenario for a preemptive attack on the DPRK on Bush's table is being put into practice.
Bush's remarks on "military option" are little short of a signal to go into action against the DPRK.
No one can vouch that on-going large-scale military exercises will not go over to a nuclear war any time.
The DPRK is following the dangerous military moves of the U.S. with a high degree of revolutionary vigilance and getting fully ready to go into action. The DPRK wants peace but never begs for it. It neither wants war nor avoids it.
The people and the people's army of the DPRK will react to the U.S. "military option" with a strong counteraction and counter an all-out war with an all-out war.
If the U.S. unleashes a war despite the DPRK's repeated warnings it will wipe out the aggressors to the last man by promptly using as many combat means as the U.S. mobilized.

Chosun Ilbo rejected

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- Over 1,100 members of civil and social organizations of South Korea held a press conference on March 4 and declared a campaign for refusing to subscribe to Chosun Ilbo, according to South Korean MBC. They said that they would neither contribute to the paper nor have any interview with it until it repents of the past and stops carrying one-sided and distorted reports.

40th anniversary of March 8 Revolution in Syria marked

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held in Pyongyang yesterday to mark the 40th anniversary of the march 8 revolution in Syria. Minister of Foreign Trade Ri Kwang Gun who is chairman of the Korea-Syria Friendship Association in his speech said that the victorious March 8 Revolution in Syria was a brilliant fruition of the Syrian people's just struggle for independence, peace, progress and prosperity and from this time a new proud history of the Syrian Arab Republic started.
The Syrian people, rallied around respected President Bashar al Assad and the Arab Socialist Baath Party, are now making positive efforts to carry forward the line and policy which had been enforced by Hafez al Assad, defend the sovereignty of the country and build modern Syria, he noted, and pointed out:
We will make every possible effort to invariably develop the traditional relations of friendship between the two countries established in the common struggle for anti-imperialist independence, peace and progress.
Muhammad Adib Alhani, Syrian charge d' affaires ad interim to Korea, in his speech said that the traditional relations of friendship between Syria and the DPRK provided by eternal leader Hafez al Assad and President Kim Il Sung are growing stronger in all fields under the deep concern of President Bashar al Assad and General Secretary Kim Jong Il. The Korean people, guided by Kim Jong Il, are triumphantly advancing even under the acute situation, he stressed.
A congratulatory letter to the Syrian President was adopted at the meeting.

U.S. hit for arousing international concern

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- The Bush belligerent group is spreading misinformation about the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, asserting that North Korea's withdrawal from the NPT is an issue of serious world concern and it is not an issue concerned with the U.S. only but an issue of the international community as North Korea breached the international agreement. Refuting this assertion, Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article says:
The DPRK, like other countries, has the right to use nuclear substance for peaceful purposes, i.e. the electricity production.
It is, therefore, nonsensical for the U.S. to assert that it is arousing an international "concern."
As far as the DPRK's operation of its nuclear facilities is concerned there is nothing to arouse the u.s. concern nor is there anything to cause the international community to worry about it.
As for the international concern, it is the U.S. that is accountable for it because Washington identifies unilaterialism and arbitrariness with its major foreign policy. The U.S. pulled out of the ABM treaty, opposed setting up an international criminal court, refused to implement the "Kyoto Protocol" for global environmental protection, etc. it is, therefore, giving rise to great concern in protecting the existence and security of humankind.
In actuality, the U.S. is going to launch at any cost a war against Iraq to which the world is opposed, causing a deep concern not only in the U.S. but among its allies.
The U.S. moves to start a new war on the Korean Peninsula are arousing greater concern among the world people.
The U.S. talk about "international concern" as part of its persistent anti-DPRK campaign is no more than a base subterfuge to charge it with "nuclear weapons development" under the signboard of "global peace" in a bid to invent a pretext for a preemptive strike at it.
The U.S. threatening the existence of humankind and the world peace with unilaterialism and arbitrariness in violation of justice and the principle of equality in the international relations will stand more bitterly condemned and rejected by the world people.

Joint U.S.-S. Korea military exercises under fire

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- Co-chairmen of the headquarters of the Movement against the U.S. and War and for the Conclusion of a DPRK-U.S. Non-Aggression Treaty in South Korea reportedly issued a statement on March 4 denouncing the "Foal Eagle" and "Rsoi" jointly started by U.S. and South Korean troops. It termed them dangerous war moves that may create a touch-and-go situation on the Korean Peninsula and war drills under the simulated conditions of an actual war against the north in view of their scale, nature and the prevailing situation. The exercises involving over 200,000 troops and military hardware include a large-scale landing operation and the "Rsoi," in particular, is based on the "operation plan 5027-98" aimed at a preemptive attack on the north and the occupation of Pyongyang, the statement noted, and went on:
The U.S. is watching for a chance to ignite a war on the Korean Peninsula. This is not the land which will allow the U.S. to stage a war so as to meet its own interests and, if it thinks so, it is grossly mistaken.
The South Korean and U.S. military authorities should stop at once the exercises that may bring a nuclear holocaust to the Korean Peninsula.
The Korean nation will no longer remain a passive onlooker to the U.S. moves to hamstring the nation's reconciliation and unity and ignite a nuclear war.

Establishment of Juche character called for

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- It is the way of successfully accomplishing the cause of national reunification to invariably preserve the Juche character, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. It goes on:
The establishment of the Juche character is a fundamental requirement for accomplishing the cause of national reunification.
Preserving the Juche character in carrying out the cause of national reunification means letting the Korean nation achieve reunification by its own efforts on its responsibility.
Any progress in the cause of reunification would be unthinkable without the establishment of the Juche character.
The Korean nation was artificially divided into two parts owing to the foreign forces. so nothing is more important for the nation than achieving the reunification of the country.
The cause of national reunification is the cause of national independence as it should be pushed forward according to the faith and will of the Korean nation. The cause can never be accomplished if Koreans try to solve the issue of reunification according to other's intention and help.
The cause of national reunification is the cause of the whole nation that should be accomplished by its own efforts.
The victorious advance of their cause hinges on the great unity of the nation.
Kim Jong Il put forward the line and policies of national reunification consistent with the Juche character and has wisely led the struggle to materialize them. As a result, the June 15 Joint Declaration was adopted and the era of independent reunification has begun.
All the Koreans in the north, the south and abroad will work hard to accomplish the cause of national reunification under Kim Jong Il's steermanship and thus glorify dignity and honor of Kim Il Sung's nation.

Invariable countermeasure

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- The United States and its allies are trying to intensify international pressure on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea over the "nuclear issue". The United States intends to start a war on the Korean Peninsula, spreading groundless rumors that the DPRK is resorting to the "brinkmanship" and "threatening and blackmailing" the U.S. to get a concession from it.
It is the DPRK's invariable mode of countermeasure to answer the enemies' tough policy with a tougher stance.
It is illustrated well by the U.S. spy ship "Pueblo" incident in the late 1960s.
At that time, the United States attempted to bring the DPRK to its knees with reckless military threat, alleging that the ship was on the open sea when it was caught and it did nothing for reconnaissance.
Yielding to the DPRK's tough position that it would meet "retaliation" with retaliation, and a total war with a total war, however, the United States could not but admit the ship's reconnaissance mission and made an apology, promising to let no warship infiltrate into the DPRK's territorial waters in the future.
When the Korean Peninsula was faced with an unprecedented nuclear crisis in March Juche 82 (1993) due to the U.S. nuclear racket, the DPRK government declared a state of semi-war in the country and took a momentous step to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
As a result, the United States had no other choice but to sign the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework in October next year.
The DPRK's victory in the nuclear confrontation with the United States has demonstrated the might, justness and vitality of the independent and tough countermeasures guaranteed by its strong defence power.
If the DPRK is free from the U.S. threat, the Korean people can live well off without others' help.
The Korean people have the socialist system based on a single hearted unity, chosen and built by themselves, and solid economic foundations they have laid for decades.
Korea's is not a system which may be disintegrated or collapse by temporary difficulties.
Now the international community is urging the united states to rewrite the Korea policy immediately, mindful of the historical lessons.

Korean women's important role in society

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) --The Korean women, who account for a half of the country's population, play a big role in society. The law on equality of the sexes, the first of its kind in Korea, was promulgated in July Juche 35 (1946) so that the women could take part in social and political activities as men did.
They, who had been illiterate, benighted and politically rightless until the mid-20th century, have extensively participated in the management of the country's political affairs and played an important role in economic sectors thanks to the correct policies of the government.
Women make up 20.1 percent of the deputies to power bodies at all levels and nearly 50 percent in the nation's working force.
Tremendous are the achievements the Korean women have made for the country and the people.
During the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War, nursery An Yong Ae, pilot Thae Son Hui, driver Kim Hak Sil and many other women performed heroic feats in battles for defeating the enemies and defending the country.
In the wartime, postwar rehabilitation and construction period and Chollima great upsurge period, many women made a great contribution to the development and prosperity of the country, demonstrating the dignity of the nation.
Among those who became models of the time and heroines in recent years when the country was in hard time are world marathon champion Jong Song Ok, agricultural official Pak Ok Hui and scientist Hyon Yong Ra.
Now when the imperialists' war preparations are being further intensified to hurt the dignity and sovereignty of the country, a large number of girls are serving in the army and getting married to officers in frontline areas.
Today the Korean women deem it their worthwhile life and happiness to devote themselves to the country and the people and to society and collective.

Thae Son Hui, Korea's first woman pilot

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- If the US imperialists unleash another war of aggression, far from drawing a lesson from their ignominious defeat in the last Korean War (June 1950-july 1953), I will participate in the war again as a pilot, said Thae Son Hui, who is a lecturer in the victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum. She, 75, is the first pilot of Korea who performed feats in the hard-fought Korean War.
Born in a foreign country in September Juche 17 (1928), she keenly experienced the sorrow of the stateless people. Having returned to Korea after the liberation of the country, she joined the army and began to receive flight training in 1949.
As soon as the war broke out, she took part in many air combats.
In September 1951, a task to destroy the commanding post and other military facilities of the enemies on Taehwa islet was assigned to her.
She successfully fulfilled the task with a low-altitude flight and a surprise attack.
She also bombed the enemies' oil tank and military facilities in Inchon and killed a large number of enemies and destroyed their combat equipment in other air fights.
She was awarded the Title of Hero of the DPRK in November 1951.

DPRK Ambassador to Malaysia appointed

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- Kim Won Ho was appointed as DPRK Ambassador e. p. to Malaysia, according to a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
