U.S. war moves denounced

Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- The south headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification reportedly issued a statement on February 3 denouncing the U.S. intensified war moves. The statement said that Bush in his "state of union address" did not bother to make extremely hostile remarks against the DPRK and the U.S. command in South Korea and the U.S. Pacific command asked the department of defense to bolster the forces on the Korean Peninsula.
A new war scenario called "contingency plan" discussed at the South Korea-U.S. annual security consultative meeting in Washington in December last year is a dangerous one as it presupposes a preemptive attack on the north, the statement noted, adding:
This is an indication that the U.S. military moves in the Korean Peninsula have become more undisguised.
The U.S. should stop at once its moves to isolate and strangle the north and launch a war against it and respond to the proposal for the conclusion of a non-aggression treaty between them.
National cooperation based on the joint declaration is a shortcut to keeping the Korean nation alive.
The statement called on all Koreans to turn out in the struggle to frustrate the U.S. moves to start a war on the Korean Peninsula.

Bush's reckless remarks against DPRK refuted

Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) issued a statement on Jan. 31 denouncing U.S. President Bush for malignantly slandering the DPRK in his "state of union address," according to Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation. The statement said:
Bush dared to term the DPRK a "lawless regime" possessing mass destruction weapons and an "oppressive regime." this is an unpardonable insult and provocation to the Korean nation as it puts his remarks about an "axis of evil" made last year into the shade.
As far as "lawless regime" and "oppressive regime" are concerned, the Bush administration is the regime of such type as it unilaterally scrapped the agreements and treaties it concluded with other countries.
Bush should face up to the trend of the times and behave with discretion.
He should not cling to the foolish and reckless plot to stifle the DPRK, a sovereign state, covering up the truth of history and misleading the world public, but apologize to it.
The U.S. should drop at once its brigandish hostile policy toward the DPRK, stop its nuclear racket and respond to the proposal for the conclusion of a non-aggression treaty between the DPRK and the U.S.
The NDFSK considers any use of force or provocation by the U.S. against the north of Korea as one against the south.
It will never allow the reckless provocation of the bush group but launch a more dynamic anti-U.S. struggle until Yankee aggressor forces have been driven out of South Korea.

KCNA ridicules U.S. behaviour unbecoming for "superpower"

Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is busy with shuttle diplomacy to bring up the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula to the UN Security Council and solicit "support" for it, ignoring its origin, circumstances of its outbreak and a realistic solution to it. Involved in it are not a few U.S. high-ranking officials including the U.S. State Secretary. They are expending a lot of energy, time and money on a variety of methods such as persuasion, appeasement, deception and threat.
The U.S. seems to regard such behaviour as some sort of generosity or respect for its dialogue partner or its "leadership" over the international community, but it is obvious that it is unsuitable for the U.S. styling itself a "superpower".
In settling any issue in all social relations ranging from human relations to international relations, it is necessary to give priority to properly defining its bilateral and multilateral nature and provide those parties concerned with a chance to sit face to face and seek its negotiated settlement.
The nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, a product of the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK, is a bilateral issue to be settled between the DPRK and the U.S. through negotiations.
It is, therefore, the only realistic way of fundamentally solving the nuclear issue and peacefully settling the serious crisis to conclude a non-aggression treaty between the DPRK and the U.S.
Despite the fact that the nature of the issue and the way of settling it are so easy to understand, the U.S. is persistently trying to bring up it to the un only to make it complicated and create artificial difficulties in the way of its solution. Then why?
The U.S. seeks to abuse the name of the international organization in a bid to justify its infringement upon the sovereignty of the independent state, a member state of the UN.
The U.S. has no too much time, energy and money to expend in the light of its internal and external situation and its position.
There are not always opportunities for the U.S.
The U.S. had better respond to the negotiations with the DPRK without delay instead of wasting time in garnering support from others, unbecoming for the "superpower".

U.S. moves for new war against DPRK accused

Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- It is public opinion that though the United States is still keeping a position of exploring a solution to the nuclear issue of the DPRK through a diplomatic channel, it may "send a special operation group" to destroy the nuclear facilities of the DPRK in case it dose not drop its "nuclear program" and dialogue fails. In view of the U.S. moves so far we predict that the U.S. imperialists may make such a military adventure against the DPRK, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary.
Recalling that the U.S. is working out a new nuclear war scenario called "operation plan 5027, contingency plan" and stepping up the production of nuclear weapons for destroying underground facilities in "case of emergency" in the Korean Peninsula and the modernization of the U.S. troops stationed in South Korea, the paper says:
The U.S. is advertising that "it has no intention to invade North Korea" and it is promising assurance of security. But the advertisement is no more than a smoke-screen to hoodwink the world public, slacken our strain and then make a forestalling attack on us.
When the U.S. makes a surprise attack on our peaceful nuclear facilities it will spark off a total war.
It is foolish for the U.S. to think that we sit idle with folded arms to wait until it gives orders for a forestalling attack to be started.
We will answer a forestalling attack with a powerful counterattack and a total war with a total war.

Friendly gathering held

Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- The Ministry of Culture hosted a film show and friendly gathering at Pyongyang Koryo Hotel on Feb. 5 in the run-up to leader Kim Jong Il's birthday. Present there on invitation were embassy officials in charge of cultural affairs.
Present there were Jo Chan Gu, Vice-Minister of Culture, and officials concerned and moviepersons.
The participants watched the Korean feature film "Our Life".
The newly produced film truthfully depicts the struggle waged by members of an operative group to devotedly protect the headquarters of the revolution in the 1950s.
Then they talked with each other about boosting the cooperative ties among countries in the cultural field and sang songs.

Kimjongilia Show held

Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- A Kimjongilia Show was sponsored by the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces on Feb. 5 on the occasion of the February Holiday. Put on display were over 1,000 potted Kimjongilias cultivated with care by servicemen of the Korean People's Army in profound reverence for Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il.
The officials and employees of the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Hothouse of the ministry successfully cultivated a great number of immortal flowers by meeting the scientific and technical needs for their tending such as nutrition and proper regulation of temperature, light, humidity and ventilation from the time they were just seedlings as it was built only last year.
The show was attended by Jo Myong Rok, Director of the KPA General Political Department, Kim Yong Chun, Chief of the General Staff, and Kim Il Chol, Minister of the People's Armed Forces.

Land administration in Korea

Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has continued directing great efforts to land administration. Discussed at a meeting of officials of land and environmental domains held in Pyongyang recently were this year's tasks for land administration.
They plan to plant a great number of trees which rapidly grow and have a great economic value, and replace hundreds of hectares of pine trees with pine-nut trees this year.
They also plan to pave new roads, reconstruct old ones extending more than 1,500 kilometers, rezone tens of thousands of hectares of land, improve small streams extending some 1,130 kilometers, build and restore tens of thousands of dwelling houses and public buildings.
Last year servicemen and working people completed the Kaechon-Lake Thaesong Waterway Project and finished land rezoning in provinces.
They also constructed more than 480-km-long roads, improved 250-odd-km-long large streams and about 3,100-km-long small streams, covered mountains with nearly 800 trees and decorated major roads with plants.

Newly developed programs "Koryo"

Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- New programs "Koryo" have been developed in Korea. They are handwriting recognition program "Koryo Pen", Korean spell-checking program "Uri Mal", grand current Korean, English-Korean and Korean-English dictionaries "Samhung" and new versions of Paduk (Go) and Korean chess programs "Ryugyong Paduk" and "Ryugyong Korean Chess", which won national and international program contests.
"Koryo Pen" recognizes 98 percent of Korean and English letters and numerals.
"Uri Mal", invented on the basis of the current Korean spacing rule, offers convenience to computer users in correcting documents.
"Samhung" contains 250,000 English-Korean vocabularies, 130,000 Korean-English vocabularies, synonyms, analogues, compound words and phrases.

No U.S. sanctions and blockade will work on DPRK

Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article accuses the U.S. of trying to enforce "economic sanctions" and "blockade" against the DPRK over its government's crucial decision to withdraw from the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. U.S. senator John Mccain and others of the U.S. ruling quarters asserted the need to impose sanctions against the DPRK over its withdrawal from the NPT and it is now placed for debate at congress. These are, however, nothing but a base and ridiculous challenge to the DPRK.
The U.S. has applied sanctions against the DPRK for the past more than 50 years in a bid to strangle it. But those only proved to be blank firing and abortive as it did not work on the DPRK.
The DPRK does what it wants, standing unfazed in face of U.S. sanctions and blockade and it has grown stronger than ever before. It does not care whether the U.S. puts sanctions upon it or not.
The DPRK has its own way of living. It can develop its own economy, science and technology as fast as it can to build an economically powerful nation.
The U.S. is well advised to review with cool head the failures and setbacks it suffered in pursuing the policy of sanctions against the DPRK over the past 50 years and reconsider it. It will do the U.S. good, too.

All Koreans called upon to protect their sovereignty and security

Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- It is a fixed policy and a consistent stand of the DPRK Government to protect the sovereignty and security of the country and the nation from foreign aggression and interference, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. It goes on:
The DPRK Government's decision to withdraw from the NPT was a self-defensive measure taken to resolutely foil the U.S. imperialists' moves to infringe upon its sovereignty, right to existence and security and strangle it by force.
It was the U.S. moves to stifle the DPRK that compelled it to quit the NPT. Therefore, it is the U.S., not South Korea, which stands in confrontation with the DPRK.
If the U.S. is allowed to stifle the DPRK and provoke a war with nukes, a new war will inevitably break out on the Korean Peninsula and it will develop to be a nuclear war. This is clear to everyone.
In that case it will be none other than the Koreans in the north and the south who will suffer from it.
The DPRK Government's recent decision represents its unshakable will to react to the U.S. hostile policy to stifle the DPRK with the toughest stand and defend the sovereignty and security of the country and the nation.
All the Koreans should positively respond to the DPRK Government's measure and turn out in a nationwide struggle to protect the sovereignty and security of the country and the nation.

Vol. 47 of "Complete Collection of Kim Il Sung's Works" published

Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea Publishing House published vol. 47 of "Complete Collection of Kim Il Sung's Works". The book is a library of the Juche idea which systematically and comprehensively deals with famous works of President Kim Il Sung in a chronological order.
It contains 25 works including historic speeches, conclusions and talks made in the period from June to November of Juche 60 (1971).
"let us consolidate the success attained in the production of machine tools," "double-cropping should be done well" and other works deal with the main tasks to be carried out in the efforts to implement the grandiose programme for the socialist economic construction laid down by the fifth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Set out in the works are policies on improving education and public health and further developing the literature and arts as required by the developing reality in which the socialist construction is making rapid progress, the need for the officials to always show deep attention to the people's living with the party spirit, the working-class spirit and the serve-the-people spirit and important tasks which would serve as guidelines in strengthening the work of working people's organizations.
Clarified in a number of works including "on some problems concerning the internal and external policies of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the republic" and "the revolutionary peoples of Asia will win in their common struggle against U.S. imperialism" are principled issues arising in the socialist construction in Korea, the national reunification and the cause of independence against imperialism.
The book also deals with unique ideas and policies concerning the work with overseas Koreans including the issue of protecting the democratic and national rights of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan and Koreans in Japan and successfully conducting national education and all other patriotic work.

U.S. air force in S. Korea in "semi-war state"

Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- The command of the U.S. 7th air force in South Korea was put in a "semi-war state" what it called "defense readiness condition 3" on Feb. 3, according to the South Korean newspaper Segye Ilbo on Feb. 5. In this connection, the U.S. Forces side in South Korea described this measure as a stronger one, hinting that the U.S. troops may directly use force in case North Korea goes ahead with the nuclear development.
Meanwhile, a senior official concerned of the South Korean authorities said that the command of the U.S. 7th air force in Osan was placed in a "semi-war state" equivalent to the "defense readiness condition 3". This measure was taken after the commander-in-chief of the U.S. Forces in the Pacific asked the Pentagon to send to Korea over 20 B-1 and B-52 bombers and more than ten fighters and dispatch aircraft carrier Calvinson to replace carrier Kitty Hawk supposed to join the Iraqi war, he added.
The command has over 100 aircraft including F-16 and A-10 in its Osan and Kunsan bases in South Korea and they constitute the backbone of the U.S. Forces in South Korea together with the U.S. second army division.
Such military moves of the U.S. imperialists indicate that their scenario to start a war on the Korean Peninsula has entered a more dangerous phase of its implementation.
