NDFSK spokesman on results of presidential election

Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Democratic Front of South Korea issued a statement on Dec. 21 as regards the results of the "presidential election" in South Korea, according to Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation. The statement said:
The people achieved such a proud victory as frustrating the wild ambition for power of the ultra-right and pro-U.S., flunkeyist and treacherous forces with their strong will and decision to go toward a new politics and a new era.
The defeat of the "Grand National Party" and Ri Hoe Chang given by the people in the "presidential election" is a stern judgment on the treacherous group and flunkeyists going against the will of the people and the trend of the times.
The results of the 16th-term "presidential election" clearly prove through practice that the people in this land want neither pro-U.S. flunkeyism nor confrontation with the north but want to live only in the spirit of national independence and the June 15 joint declaration.
The people determinedly foiled the U.S. attempt to "Make Ri Hoe Chang president," which showed they no longer allow the white house to control the politics of South Korea.
All political parties, all groupings and people of all strata in this land should wage a more vigorous struggle for independence, democracy and reunification on the basis of the achievements and lessons of this "presidential election".

Old map in Arabic on East Sea of Korea discovered

Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- The South Korean newspaper Hankuk Ilbo on Dec. 18 reported that an old map in Arabic on which the East Sea of Korea is marked as "Korean Sea" was discovered. The "Chinese and Korean map of Osman Empire" (printed in Arabic in 1896), which was obtained from a collector of maps on Dec. 16, described Korea as "Korea" and its East Sea as "Korean Sea".
It serves as an important historical material that the Osman Empire recognized the East Sea of Korea as "Korean Sea" as early as in 1896 when the European countries and the U.S. began to mark the East Sea of Korea as "Japanese Sea" on maps under the influence of Japan, the paper said, adding:
One more ground was provided to fundamentally correct the mistake of the U.S. mass media and others terming the East Sea of Korea "Japanese Sea".

Work of removing seals and monitoring cameras from frozen nuclear facilities to start

Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency issued the following report on Dec. 22: As already reported, the DPRK Government on Dec. 12 issued a decision to lift the measure of nuclear freeze taken on the premise that 500,000 tons of heavy oil would be annually supplied to the DPRK under the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework and resume the operation and construction of nuclear facilities to generate electricity to cope with the U.S. stop of the supply of heavy oil to the DPRK from December in serious violation of the AF.
The DPRK's freeze of nuclear facilities and the U.S. supply of heavy oil dovetailed with each other as simultaneous actions under the AF. And the measure to lift the nuclear freeze was taken because the U.S. unilaterally abandoned its commitment to supply heavy oil in compensation for the loss of electricity.
Announcing this decision, the DPRK made it clear that the issue of refreezing its nuclear facilities entirely depends on the attitude of the U.S. side and it has closely followed the U.S. attitude, exercising its maximum self-restraint.
And the DPRK, informing the IAEA of its decision to lift its nuclear freeze to cope with the U.S. stop of the supply of heavy oil to it, clarified that this decision is a serious special step taken by it to protect its sovereignty and vital rights from the U.S. as the decision was made not according to an agreement with the IAEA or the safeguards accord but according to the agreement with the U.S. it twice urged the IAEA to collect the seals and monitoring cameras at an early date as it is an urgent issue to make up for vacuum in the power production.
The U.S. is responding to the DPRK's call by escalating international pressure on the DPRK, insisting that dialogue is possible only when the DPRK drops its nuclear program first, far from positively reacting to such patient efforts of the DPRK to settle the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula in a peaceful way.
The IAEA has not shown any positive attitude, whiling away time after proposing what it called working negotiations.
This situation compelled the DPRK to immediately start the work of removing the seals and monitoring cameras from the frozen nuclear facilities for their normal operation to produce electricity.

Japan urged not to act rashly

Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- To put unreasonable pressure upon the DPRK under the pretext of its nuclear issue is a very irresponsible deed to push the situation to military confrontation. Japan's taking an active part in such dangerous campaign is little short of committing a suicide such as jumping into fire with faggot on its back. Minju Joson today says this in a signed commentary.
    It continues:
It is the ulterior intention of the U.S. and the Japanese reactionaries to isolate and stifle the DPRK under the pretext of its nuclear issue.
Japan's perfidy to the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang declaration and the DPRK is the most base and dirty act that cannot be justified in any case.
To take a prudent stand and attitude rather than acting rashly by following the U.S. in the Korean problem is more beneficial to Japan's existence and security.

S. Korean people called upon to struggle for sovereignty

Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- The South Korean people can never be presented with sovereignty and dignity by the U.S. imperialists but they can be won only through struggle. This is a bitter lesson drawn by the South Korean people in the tragic reality. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed commentary.
    It goes on:
Powerful anti-U.S. demonstrations are taking place across South Korea. But the United States is behaving more impudently utterly indifferent to the grudge of the South Koreans. Such behavior of the U.S. is a mockery and an insult to them demanding their sovereignty and dignity.
The atrocities committed against the South Korean people by the U.S. imperialist aggression forces since their occupation of South Korea are unprecedented both in the number of their cases and brutality. They have done immeasurable damage to the south koreans.
The U.S. military court's verdict of not guilty given to the GI killers of the South Korean schoolgirls is no more than an open declaration that the U.S. Forces will trample down the dignity and vital rights of the South Korean people in the future, too.
The reality goes to prove that the recurrence of this cruel murder cannot be prevented as long as the U.S. Forces remain in South Korea.
One should protect one's dignity by oneself.
The reality calls upon the South Korean people to rise up in a nationwide anti-U.S. struggle.
The South Korean people will not cease their struggle till their just demand for the right to existence and dignity is met.

Hong Chang Su retains his world championship

Tokyo, December 21 (KNS-KCNA) -- Hong Chang Su, Korean pro-boxing player in Japan, retained his world title six times by defeating his Philippine rival 2:1 by a decision in WBC super flyweight in Osaka, Japan on Dec. 20. He retained his world title in two matches this year.
The Philippine player was said to be the strongest of his rivals but Hong beat him through strong attacks from the outset of the match that day.
By retaining his world title he demonstrated the dignity and honor of Juche Korea and heroic mettle of the Korean youth.

DPRK's mode of counter-action remains unchanged

Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- It is the DPRK's invariable mode to react to the U.S. imperialists' hard-line policy with the toughest stand. The DPRK's mode of counter-action will remain as ever toughest. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed commentary.
    The news analyst goes on:
The U.S. hard-line conservatives let loose a spate of incoherent remarks after a spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry issued a statement as regards its lifting of the nuclear freeze. This tells that they feel uneasy about the DPRK's toughest counter-action.
The true aim of the U.S. imperialist warhawks is to spark the second nuclear confrontation and a nuclear war against the DPRK at any cost.
They blustered that they have no intention to respond to dialogue with North Korea, yielding to its threat and they will not deal with North Korea. This is little short of a declaration of a war, a declaration of a nuclear war against the DPRK.
Their assertion that they have no intention to invade North Korea is a version of the slogan for aggression, a nuclear war outcry.
The hypocritical and aggressive nature of the U.S. hard-line conservatives has been brought into bolder relief.
The army and people of the DPRK are fully ready to mercilessly strike the bulwark of U.S. imperialist aggressors if they ignite a reckless war of aggression against the DPRK.
There can be no earth without Korea. The army and people of the DPRK will destroy the earth if the enemies dare make a nuclear strike at it.
    This is their do-or-die spirit.

Rodong Sinmun on anti-U.S. struggle

Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- The only way of achieving peace and peaceful reunification of the country is the steadfast struggle against the U.S. imperialists. Rodong Sinmun today stresses this in a signed article.
    It goes on:
The atmosphere of peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula is spoiled and the danger of nuclear war is increasing as the days go by owing to the U.S. imperialists' vicious moves against the DPRK and reunification.
The Korean nation stand at the crossroads whether they continue to follow the road of peace and reunification or they fall a victim to nuclear war thrust on them by the foreign forces.
If the Korean nation yields to difficulties, it will be terminated.
Peace and peaceful reunification are impossible without the anti-U.S. struggle. Since the publication of the historic June 15 joint declaration, the atmosphere of reconciliation, peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula is spoiled by the U.S. imperialists' brigandish strategy to dominate Korea and hostile policy toward the DPRK.
With the U.S. imperialists still remain in South Korea, neither the peace on the Korean Peninsula nor independent reunification of the nation can be achieved. All the Koreans should vigorously pave the way of peace of the country and independent reunification of the nation through a nation-wide anti-U.S. resistance.
They should bitterly denounce the criminal scheme and anti-reunification moves of the Yankees who obstruct the reconciliation and cooperation between the north and the south in every way and decisively reject the U.S. imperialists' interference and obstructions in the issue of reunification by the concerted efforts of the nation.
All the Koreans at home and abroad should turn out in the anti-U.S. patriotic resistance, transcending the differences in ideology, political view, affiliation and religious belief.
Only when all the Koreans struggle with their united efforts under the uplifted anti-U.S., anti-war banner, will the road to peace of the country and independent reunification of the nation be paved.

Mayor of Moscow arrives here

Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- Yuri Luzhkov, Mayor of Moscow of the Russian Federation, and his party arrived here today. They were greeted at the airport by chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee Ryang Man Gil, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kung Sok Ung, officials concerned and Russian Ambassador to Korea Andrei Gennadievich Karlov and staff members of the embassy.

U.S. hindrance to Korea's reunification flailed

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- The U.S. high-handed hindrance to the recent meeting of the law-making panel for north-south economic cooperation clearly proved that the U.S. is desperately working to bedevil all aspects of the inter-Korean relations, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary. It goes on:
This action of the U.S. is a wanton violation of the sovereignty of the Korean nation and a blatant challenge to its desire for national reconciliation, unity and reunification.
The inter-Korean exchange and cooperation are undertakings to be carried out by the Korean nation itself in the basic spirit of the June 15 joint declaration. It is clear that if the rail and road links between the north and south are reconnected and exchange and cooperation become reinvigorated in the economic field, national reconciliation, unity and its common development would be promoted and its reunification be accelerated.
By pushing the situation on the Korean Peninsula to an extreme pitch of tension the U.S. seeks to stand in the way of improving inter-Korean relations and attain its selfish aim of aggression.
The U.S. is, indeed, the common enemy of the north and the south as it infringes upon the sovereignty and the interests of the Korean nation and stands in the way of its reunification.
All the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad should turn out as one in the anti-U.S. sacred resistance to let the nation keep advancing along the orbit of independence and achieve the common prosperity of the nation and its reunification.

U.S. nuclear racket under fire

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- Blade Nzimande, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the South African Communist Party, in a statement on Dec. 12 condemned the anti-DPRK nuclear racket of the U.S. The statement said:
The Bush administration is now pushing the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the brink of war under the absurd pretext of the "nuclear issue" of the DPRK.
We sternly denounce the U.S. for its double-dealing tactics proved by the fact that it is dead-set against the DPRK's proposal for the conclusion of a non-aggression treaty, though it is talking a lot about "no war" and "peace" on the Korean Peninsula and "dialogue."
If the U.S. truly wants peace on the Korean Peninsula, it should honestly fulfil its commitment under the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework and immediately accept the proposal for the conclusion of a non-aggression treaty between the DPRK and the U.S.
The Peruvian People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students in a statement on Dec. 16 said that the anti-DPRK nuclear racket of the U.S. is chiefly aimed to unleash a war of aggression, a thermo-nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula at any cost.
The front bitterly condemns the U.S. for its anti-DPRK brigandish nuclear racket and firmly supports all the measures taken by the DPRK to protect its independence and dignity, the statement stressed.

Halt to show of "James Bond-007" demanded in S. Korea

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- The Reunification Solidarity for the Implementation of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration and Peace on the Korean Peninsula and the Committee of Measures Against Deviation from the Buddhist Order reportedly demanded a halt to the show of the U.S. film "James Bond-007" as it hurts the self-esteem of the Korean nation and fosters mistrust and confrontation between Koreans. The Peace Committee of the Reunification Solidarity in a statement on Dec. 18 recalled that the movie is being produced in the U.S. in close cooperation with its department of defense as evidenced by the fact that this movie fully represents the U.S. administration's hard line logic toward the DPRK.
The statement urged the U.S. to immediately cancel the planned opening of the movie to the public in South Korea and collect even the movies now distributed or shown worldwide.
The measure committee in a statement on Dec. 17 held that it will not allow believers to see the film as it has such anti-peace and unethical scenes as inciting inter-Korean confrontation and violating the religious belief of the religionists.

DPRK will react to U.S. hard-line policy with toughest stand

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- The U.S. State Department was reported to have said on Dec. 17 that the North Korea-U.S. relations will not make any progress unless North Korea scraps its "nuclear development program" and earlier a spokesman for the U.S. administration blustered that North Korea's decision to resume the operation of nuclear facilities is a blatant challenge to international public opinion. These are nothing but foolish remarks intended to pull out of the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework (AF) and evade the responsibility for the increased danger of a nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S. can never flee from its responsibility for having wantonly violated both the spirit and the points of the AF as it singled out the DPRK as part of "an axis of evil" and a target of its preemptive nuclear attack.
The DPRK has exercised its utmost patience in its efforts to implement the AF despite the fact that it is exposed to the constant nuclear threat from the U.S.
However, the U.S. stopped the supply of heavy oil to the DPRK and increased its pressure upon Pyongyang to scrap its "nuclear program" only to disclose more saliently Washington's attempt to force the DPRK to disarm itself and destroy its system.
Such being a stark fact, the ruling circles in the U.S. are now prattling that the U.S. will not put military pressure upon North Korea and it has no intention to invade it. But these are nothing but sheer hypocrisy to cover up its true intention for aggression.
The U.S. is, in actuality, escalating the danger of a nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula by turning aside from the DPRK's proposal for concluding a non-aggression treaty, the most reasonable one to settle the present crisis.
It was only recently that it decided to take a measure of imposing military sanctions against the DPRK under the pretext of the DPRK's "nuclear issue" at an "annual security consultative meeting" held in Washington. It is contemplating about the dispatch of carriers to waters off the Korean Peninsula.
In fact, the DPRK has closely followed the U.S. dangerous military actions with high revolutionary vigilance under the grave situation where the U.S. is set to take military sanctions against it which is little short of a declaration of a war. It is the unshakable stand of the DPRK to react to the U.S. hard-line with the toughest stand and counter confrontation with confrontation.
The people and the army of the DPRK will further increase the capacity for self-defence to cope with the U.S. evermore undisguised hostile policy toward the DPRK and deal merciless blows at the aggressors who dare infringe upon its sovereignty and right to existence.

Brigandish nature of pirates in 21st century revealed

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- With nothing can the United States justify its piracy against the DPRK trading cargo ship Sosan. The U.S. should make an apology and compensation for this. Minju Joson says this in a signed commentary today.
    The news analyst goes on:
The U.S. is groundlessly taking issue with the DPRK, the victim, far from making an apology and compensation for its piracy.
This is prompted by the U.S. crafty trick to justify its grave piracy at any cost and flee from the responsibility for it.
The nature of a thief cannot be concealed no matter how the guilty party may file the suit first. With nothing can the U.S. cover up its truth of the piracy.

No one can find fault with DPRK lifting of nuclear freeze

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- The DPRK's step to lift its nuclear freeze is a just countermeasure taken by it to cope with the situation where all the articles of the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework (AF) have been ditched by the United States, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. It goes on:
This countermeasure has nothing to do with the "nuclear development program" much publicized by the U.S. the DPRK building of independent nuclear facilities by its own strength and technique is aimed to settle the energy problem of the country.
The DPRK proposed to conclude a non-aggression treaty with the U.S. even under the worst situation where the U.S. has, in fact, put the AF on the verge of collapse and its nuclear threat to the DPRK is becoming a reality. This is the best way of preventing the AF from being reduced to a dead document.
The U.S. decision to stop from December supplying 500,000 tons of heavy oil annually to the DPRK, its commitment under the AF, immediately caused vacuum in the power generation of the DPRK.
The DPRK Government regards the removal of any threat to its sovereignty and vital rights as a benchmark for seeking ways of settling all the issues. It is quite natural for it to take a step of lifting its nuclear freeze to cope with that grave threat. It was the U.S. which compelled the DPRK to lift its nuclear freeze.
The DPRK remains undeterred by any threat, blackmail and pressure.
The U.S. is seriously mistaken if it thinks it can bring the DPRK to its knees through pressure and strong-arm action because it regards independence as its life and soul.
If the U.S. is truly interested in the solution to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, it should accept the DPRK proposal for concluding a non-aggression treaty at an early date before finding fault with the DPRK's step to lift its nuclear freeze
