It is of great significance as it fully represents the army-based leadership and politics of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Thorough-going investigation into GIs' murder urged

Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- The all-people measure committee for Sin Hyo Sun and Sim Mi Son, schoolgirls killed by the U.S. armored car reportedly called a press conference in front of the U.S. Forces' unit in Phaju on September 18 at which it demanded a thorough-going investigation into the GIs' murder. Its participants cited new material evidence, categorically refuting the assertion of the U.S. military authorities and the police that the U.S. armored car was at a standstill at the time the incident took place.
Asserting that there was a road for military operation but U.S. Forces drove the armoured car into the road in the village and a prompt rescue might save them from deaths, the participants called for a thorough joint probe into the truth behind the case.
That morning over 20 bereaved families paid a protest visit to the chief of the Phaju police office and demanded the South Korean authorities and the U.S. military authorities conduct a joint on-the-spot investigation into the murder together with bereaved families, civic organizations and media organs.

S. Korean military's intention to assist in U.S. war against Iraq opposed

Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- Several organizations in South Korea strongly denounced the Defense Ministry of South Korea there for examining the "plan to assist the U.S." in its moves to attack Iraq, according to a news report. The reunification solidarity for the implementation of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration and peace on the Korean Peninsula in a commentary demanded the withdrawal of the plan, noting that the assistance to the U.S. "anti-peace war" aimed to carry out its strategy to dominate the world in utter disregard of global peace should never be allowed.
The solidarity called a press conference in front of the building of the ministry on Sept. 18 at which it declared that the solidarity is "opposed not only to the military support for U.S. attack on Iraq but to any form of assistance to it".
The permanent co-representatives of the solidarity for implementing the south-north joint declaration in a commentary released on Sept. 17 said that the ministry's announcement that the ministry would examine the South Korean participation in the war against Iraq for the South Korea-U.S. alliance not only goes against the general trend of the international community towards peace but will bring only damage to the people as it is an anachronistic assertion threatening their interests.
The Eastern Seoul District Federation of University Student Councils released a statement on the same day. The statement accused the U.S. of seeking through its war against Iraq to aggravate the situation on the Korean Peninsula and tighten its grip on South Korea and maintain its unchallenged domination over northeast Asia. It urged the South Korean authorities to drop their humiliating and servile military diplomatic policy towards the U.S.
The south headquarters of the national alliance of youth and students for the country's reunification in a statement issued on Sept. 18 strongly demanded the South Korean authorities retract their sycophantic plan to support the U.S. in its war against Iraq, noting that the military moves staged by the U.S. on the Korean Peninsula prove that the war against Iraq may spill over straight into the Korean Peninsula.

All people urged to firmly arm themselves with WPK's idea, line and policies

Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today editorially calls on all the officials, party members and other working people to firmly arm themselves with the idea, line and policies of the Workers' Party of Korea. It goes on:
The WPK's idea, line and policies are the most revolutionary and scientific guidelines. It is the historical review of the Korean revolution that only when the people advance along the road indicated by the WPK, can they build a powerful nation and achieve the cause of national reunification.
The immoral Juche idea fathered by President Kim Il Sung is an eternal guiding idea of the workers' party and revolution in Korea. The eternal prosperity of Kim Il Sung's Korea and the final victory of the revolutionary cause of Juche are guaranteed only when the people advance under the uplifted revolutionary banner of the Juche idea.
Kim Jong Il's army-based idea serves as a powerful weapon in the anti-imperialist struggle in our era and a banner for all victories. All the officials, party members and other working people should resolutely defend the idea and apply it to the letter.
If they are to arm themselves with the idea, line and policies of the WPK at present it is important for them to deeply study Kim Jong Il's works.
All of them should handle all the issues arising in the revolution and construction including the work of building the party, army and power and economic and cultural construction guided by the WPK's idea, line and policies, and carry out everything as intended by him and the way he does.

Immortal Juche idea

Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- Human history is the history of the people's struggle for independence. The Juche idea newly clarifies the essence of the social movement centering on the popular masses for the first time in history.
Only when the essence of the social movement is studied by focussing on the popular masses' its subject, can the law governing the development of the social movement be understood overall and the social development stepped up purposefully and consciously.
The Juche idea, on the basis of the independent nature of the masses, expounds the principle that the socio-historical movement is the movement to realize the independence of the masses.
The socio-historical movement is the struggle for their independence because independence is their intrinsic nature.
Defending independence is the absolute demand and basic right of the popular masses that no one is entitled to deprive them of.
Therefore, they do not allow their independence to be infringed upon and shackled.
That is why they wage a ceaseless struggle in all fields of social development to defend and realize independence. So, the socio-historical movement is the struggle for their independence.
The struggle for independence takes place in all spheres of social reform, natural transformation and human remoulding in regular order on a full scale and on an international scale.
Maintaining independent stand is needed in the revolution and construction from the principle that the socio-historical movement is the struggle for the masses' independence.
The clarification of the principle provides a firm guideline for the popular masses to carve out history and their destiny independently as masters.

South Korean moviedom warned

Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- It is intolerable that some South Korean film-makers are producing and screening unsavory movies getting on the nerves of the DPRK and fostering inter-Korean confrontation and continue making even films defiling the system in the DPRK. This cannot be construed otherwise than an act of cooling the hard-won atmosphere of reconciliation and cooperation between the north and the south and a serious matter that may adversely affect the favorably developing inter-Korean relations. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed commentary condemning the anti-DPRK moves of the South Korean moviedom.
    It goes on:
Such improper behavior of the South Korean moviedom is a treacherous act of violating the basic spirit of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration which reflects the desire and will of all the Koreans for reunification.
The north has never made any film critical of the south side.
The South Korean moviedom should not make anachronistic films fostering distrust and confrontation among compatriots at the instigation of the moribund ultra-right conservative forces and hell-bent on money-making but create art works conducive to the reconciliation, unity and reunification of the nation in the spirit of the joint declaration.
It is the firm will of the Korean nation to achieve its independent reunification. whoever goes against it can never escape from rejection and denunciation by the nation.
The north warns the South Korean moviedom against playing into the hands of the ultra-right conservative forces.
The South Korean authorities should seriously think over the unceasing happenings which may adversely affect the inter-Korean relations in South Korea and take responsible measures to stop the production and screening of films provoking the north.
