CPRF blasts "peace policy" of Ri Hoe Chang
Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- The secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland in information bulletin no. 822 dismissed the "peace policy" set out by Ri Hoe Chang on August 21 as sheer sophism intended to mislead the public opinion at home and abroad in a bid to improve his image and realize his ambition to seize power.
The information bulletin said:
Ri talked about "peace" as if his sinister intention had changed overnight. But it only reveals his inborn shamelessness and double-dealing nature.
The issue of peace, the cherished desire of the Korean nation, has not yet been solved. It is not due to lack of principle or option for it but because the United States persistently barred Koreans from realizing their desire for peace and reunification.
If genuine peace and security are to be guaranteed on the Korean Peninsula, first of all, the U.S. should drop its hostile policy toward the DPRK and replace the DPRK-U.S. armistice agreement by a peace agreement and the U.S. troops withdraw from south Korea.
Ri, however, kept mum about the U.S. policy of aggression toward the DPRK and the U.S. troops' pullout from south Korea, which are the root cause of disturbing peace, while paying lip-service to peace.
In the long run, his "peace policy" is a version of a war policy.
It, therefore, only betrays his intention to pursue the hostile policy toward fellow countrymen, tailing behind the u.s. under the veil of "peace."
Ri should clearly know he can not escape a lot of an ostracized guy no matter how noisily he vociferates about "peace" and any change in his "policy towards the north."
Ri is well advised to stop saying empty words about "peace" but honestly repent of and apologize for his crime-woven past.
DPRK's founding anniversary marked
Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- Celebrations have been held in various countries with the approach of the 54th anniversary of the DPRK.
From August 14 to 18, an opening ceremony of a DPRK book, photo and handicraft exhibition and a film show were held in Peru and Egypt and a meeting and a photo exhibition in India.
Portraits of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il were hung in the venues.
Displayed there were Kim Jong Il's famous works, photos showing his revolutionary exploits, Korean books and handicrafts.
At the film shows "arch of triumph" and other Korean films were screened.
Member of parliament of Peru Cuenen Franceza Maraboto in his speech at the opening ceremony of the exhibition voiced the belief that the Korean people led by Kim Jong Il sure to achieve national reunification and build a powerful nation.
The chairman of the group for the study of self-reliance of India told the meeting that the DPRK is displaying its might as a bulwark of socialism in the world under the sagacious leadership of Kim Jong Il and that socialist Korea led by the brilliant commander will win one victory after another.
NDFSK calls for national reunification
Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- The National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK), with the people from all walks of life, will decisively smash the aggression and war moves of the anti-reunification forces at home and overseas, realize cooperation of the nation and bring earlier the independent reunification of the nation, upholding the June 15 inter-Korean joint declaration as an invincible banner for independent reunification. This was declared by Pak Kwang Gi, chief of the Pyongyang mission of the NDFSK, when interviewed by KCNA on August 24 on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of its foundation.
He said:
The 30 odd-year-long history of the NDFSK is a glorious history of struggle. In the period it has vigorously advanced along the road indicated by the great Juche idea, an invincible idea.
General Secretary Kim Jong Il illumined the path to be taken by the NDFSK and the south Korean people on the basis of the Juche idea and instilled the conviction of sure victory and pluck into us with his great leadership and boundless loving care.
The main factor of landmark events in the revolutionary movement in south Korea is Kim Jong Il's greatness. His greatness, giving an admirable impact to the whole of south Korea, has culminated into worship for him.
The national democratic movement in south Korea is greeting a new era of change and the anti-U.S. campaign and the national reunification movement are turning into an unprecedented mass movement in terms of its size and form, not minor one.
The NDFSK will substantially model itself on the Juche idea and make the south Korean people of all social strata know well about Kim Jong Il's greatness to considerably strengthen the driving force of the revolutionary movement in south Korea.
Successful Aug. 15 national meeting hailed
Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- The (South) Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the Federation of (South) Korean Trade Unions, which had participated in the August 15 national meeting for reunification, in a joint statement on august 23 said that the success of the meeting, the first of its kind in Seoul since the national division, fully demonstrated once again the vitality of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, according to a news report.
The statement said the meeting provided the whole world with a clear glimpse of the unity of the Korean nation willing to achieve independent and peaceful reunification at any cost, unyielding to the U.S. undisguised threat of war.
The meeting confirmed again the willingness of the south and north Korean workers to symphasize and cooperate with each other for the nations independent reunification it added.
Achievements in DPRK
Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- The people in the DPRK have turned out as one in a campaign to greet with labor achievements Kim Jong Il returning home after his successful visit to the far eastern region of Russia.
They are working miracles and innovations in production and construction every day with loyalty to him.
Such successes are made especially by workers in power, coal and metal industries, major domains of socialist construction.
The power production at the East Pyongyang Thermal Power Plant had reached a record high in five days since Kim Jong Il's departure for a Russia visit was reported.
Officials and workers in the coal mines across the country, including the February 8 Jikdong Youth, Chonsong Youth, Jenam and Pongchon coal mines are overfulfilling their daily production quotas every day.
Smelters of the Songjin Steel Complex, a steel producer in northern part of the country, are working hard day and night to turn out more tons of steel for major projects.
Scientists and technicians, artistes youth and students at different units, including the academy of sciences, Kim Il Sung University, the Pyongyang Circus and the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital, too, have made fresh successes in their activities, yearning for Kim Jong Il who is making a long journey abroad for DPRK-Russian friendship and the prosperity of the country.
NDFSK's patriotic cause supported
Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- The cause of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) advancing under the banner of the great Juche idea is just and sure to win, says Minju Joson Sunday in an article dedicated to its 33rd anniversary.
The NDFSK covered a proud path along which it has closed its ranks and energetically paved the way for the independent reunification of the nation, meeting challenges at home and abroad, under the banner of the great Juche idea, the article says, and continues:
The NDFSK has considered it as its major tasks to conduct information services of various forms and methods about Kim Jong Il's great idea and leadership and his noble virtue and immortal feats he has performed for national reunification among the south Koreans from all walks of life and to lead them to hold him in high esteem as the destiny of the nation and the lodestar of national reunification.
The organization has conducted a vigorous struggle to preserve and thoroughly implement the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
The core issue of the declaration is to settle the issue of national reunification independently by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation.
The article expressed belief that the NDFSK and the south Koreans would as ever carry on their indomitable struggle for national independence, unity and national reunification.
Kim Jong Il returns home
Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il returned home on August 24 after his successful visit to the far eastern region of the Russian Federation.
He conducted energetic external activities, making a long journey covering more than 2,800 km. He had a historic meeting with Russian President V. V. Putin, thus further deepening the friendly relations and strengthening the ties of DPRK-Russia friendship. This recorded a new chapter in the history of bilateral relations.
Kim Jong Il's historic visit to the Far Eastern region marked another landmark event which provided a new turn in boosting the traditional DPRK-Russia friendship.
Kim Jong Il inspects DPRK-Russia Friendship House
Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -General Secretary Kim Jong Il on Saturday inspected the DPRK-Russia Friendship House newly built in a modern architectural style.
Accompanying him were secretaries of the WPK Central Committee Kim Kuk Thae, Kim Ki Nam and Kim Yong Sun, minister of railways Kim Yong Sam and first vice department director of the C.C., the WPK Jang Song Thaek.
He was met on the spot by chief secretary of the Rason City Committee of the WPK Kim Hyon Ju, chairman of the Rason City People's Committee Kim Su Yol and leading officials of the house.
They warmly congratulated Kim Jong Il on returning home from his successful visit to the far eastern region of Russia.
Kim Jong Il expressed thanks for their salute, and went round the exterior and interior of the house where flags of the DPRK and Russia were fluttering.
On display in the house are historic photographs showing part of activities conducted by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il during their visits to Russia. The house has a reception room, a banquet hall and various service facilities.
Greatly satisfied to see the excellent house built in a good place, he highly praised the feats of its builders.
Stressing the need to further develop the DPRK-Russia friendly and cooperative relations with a long tradition, he advanced concrete tasks to be carried out to use the house symbolic of the friendship.
