U.S. forces' pullback from South Korea demanded

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- The 12th rally of the joint council of groups for the return of the U.S. military base in Ryongsan, our land, was reportedly held in Ryongsan on June 27. Participating there were the anti-U.S. group of the "National Alliance for Democracy and Reunification" (Jongukryonhap), the anti-U.S. Women's Society, the Seoul Alliance for Democracy and Reunification and other organizations.
The secretary general of the Seoul alliance recalled that 140 demonstrations were held to demand the dismantlement of the U.S. military base in Ryongsan. He denounced the GIS for driving an armored car over schoolgirls to death.
The executive chairman of the anti-U.S. group of the Jongukryonhap, the secretary general of the anti-U.S. Women's Society and others stated that they can no longer remain a passive onlooker to GIS' crimes committed in all parts of South Korea, calling upon all the people to pool their efforts to get the U.S. troops withdrawn from South Korea.

More anti-U.S. rallies held

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- Mass rallies are taking place in the DPRK on the occasion of "June 25, the day of struggle against the U.S. imperialists." Mass rallies were held in the seats of north and south Phyongan, north and south Hwanghae and Ryanggang provinces between June 28 and 30.
At the rallies speakers said that the U.S. imperialists unhesitatingly committed barbarous massacres and destruction in all parts of Korea during the Korean War.
The speakers branded them as cannibals and murderers who regard man-slaughter as a pleasure.
Though nearly half a century has passed since the ceasefire, the U.S. imperialists are rendering the situation of the Korean Peninsula extremely strained, not dropping their ambition for aggression, they noted. They denounced the U.S. imperialist aggressors for occupying South Korea still now in the new century and scheming to unleash another war.
They warned that if the U.S. imperialist aggressors opt for confrontation and war in disregard of the desire of the Korean people, they will be given a stern judgment by history. They strongly demanded the U.S. imperialists face up to the trend of the times and withdraw from South Korea at once, taking nuclear weapons and all other combat equipment along with them.
Similar rallies were also held in cities and counties.

Letter to IOJ secretariat

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- On June 26 more than ten U.S. soldiers beat journalists of South Korean internet radio "Voice of People" with clubs and bound them with iron chains to drag them away to the U.S. military base. The journalists were covering a demonstration held by members of civic organizations and students protesting against the murder of schoolgirls in front of the U.S. military base in Uijongbu city, Kyonggi Province, South Korea. In this connection the central committee of the Korean Journalists Union sent a letter to the secretariat of the international organization of journalists on July 1.
The letter said that the GIS' violence upon the South Korean journalists in their news coverage was aimed to prevent their crimes and the anti-U.S. sentiment of the South Korean people from opening to the public.
    It went on:
The GIS' atrocities against the South Korean journalists are an outright challenge to the mission and role of the press and an intolerable insult to the world pressmen.
This incident should be strictly dealt with according to the international law and the ethics of the unbiased press, its truth thoroughly probed and those responsible for it severely punished.
The letter expressed expectation that the IOJ secretariat would pay due attention to the GIS' suppression of the press in South Korea and use its influence so that all the countries of the world may bitterly denounce it.

U.S.-led multi-national joint military exercise blasted

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- Papers here today term the U.S.-led multi-national joint military exercise "RIMPAC-2002" a dangerous play with fire launched by warmongers to disturb peace. A signed commentary of Rodong Sinmun says that the original mission of RIMPAC is no longer valid under the new international situation created after the cold war was over and the soviet union collapsed.
However, the united states is going ahead with it under a new absurd pretext.
It is the true intention of the united states to get different countries and regions involved in carrying out its war of aggression to realize its ambition for Asian domination and thus pressurize and stifle the anti-imperialist independent countries in the Asian-Pacific region including the DPRK by force of arms.
The DPRK is made the main target of the recent military exercise.
The exercise is aimed to make a surprise attack on the DPRK from sea, pursuant to the maritime strategy of the U.S. imperialists.
It can be dubbed as a preliminary operation and test war designed to escalate the "anti-terrorism war" into the Korean Peninsula.
Given the fact that the United States is poised not to rule out even a preemptive attack and nuclear strike at the DPRK under the pretext of "combating-terrorism," the exercise should be regarded as a fuse to ignite a war against Pyongyang any moment.
Minju Joson in a signed commentary notes that the attempt of the U.S. warmongers to invade the DPRK with a preemptive attack any moment and seize it compels the people's army and people of Korea to take necessary counter military measures against them.

Infant music genius

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA)-- One more music genius appeared in the DPRK, drawing keen interest of the musicians. She is 12-year-old Jo Tham Sun in Pulgun Street dong no. 1, Potonggang district, Pyongyang.
After receiving basic education on hearing and sight-reading at the age of 4, she began composing music when she was 5. She arranged nearly 10 pieces of instrumental music including orchestral music at the age of 7 to the surprise of the experts.
Professors and doctors of Pyongyang University of Music and Dance and experts let her listen to the recorded orchestral music "we began from the scratch" to test her ability of writing a music note and composing music.
At the end of the test, they were unsparing in their praises, saying she is "a comet in the musical world as she is endowed with extraordinary memory and musical sense beyond human imagination and outstanding creative ability."
Leader Kim Jong Il spared time to examine a collection of 5 songs "eternal heart" created by Jo in February Juche 89 (2000) and highly praised her.
And he took a benevolent measure to educate her as an excellent composer at Pyongyang University of Music and Dance.
    She has a rosy future.

GIS' violence against S. Korean journalists slammed

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- The "National Alliance for Democracy and Reunification" of South Korea reportedly issued a statement on June 28 denouncing the monstrous atrocities of the U.S. troops present in South Korea. On June 26 the GIS assaulted Han Yu Jin and Ri Jong Mi, reporters of internet radio "Voice of People", who were covering the demonstration staged by the participants in the 1st all-people meeting to probe the truth behind the murder of Sin Hyo Sun and Sim Mi Son, middle-school girls, killed by the U.S. armored car and punish those responsible for it.
    The statement said:
The GIS bound the journalists to special chains to be used against POWS or "terrorists" and trampled down them with Jack Boots, leaving them paralyzed. They went the length of committing such inhuman act as rejecting the request for their treatment at hospital.
The statement demanded the U.S. forces present in South Korea make an apology and compensation for the murder of Sin Hyo Sun and Sim Mi Son, the arrest of the journalists and violence committed against them.
Meanwhile, the "all-people measure committee of the murder of Sin Hyo Sun and Sim Mi Son, middle-school girls killed by U.S. armored car" held a press conference on June 28 denouncing the GI's murder and made public a press release.
Noting that video cameras that recorded an interview made with the bereaved families and the whole account of the demonstration were destroyed and the journalists seriously wounded, the press release said this was a violation of their rights.
The GIS should be tried and punished, it said, demanding the U.S. President make an official apology for the arrest and violence against the journalists.

Anecdotes of President Kim Il Sung

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- It happened on December 31, Juche 74 (1985) when an official entered the office of President Kim Il Sung at his call. The president was watching something through a periscope, unaware of the official's presence.
The official remained standing for a good while before asking him if he found something mysterious. Presently, the president recognized him and invited him to see the same thing through the periscope. The official was choked with emotion when he did out of curiosity.
The Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery on Mt. Taesong was clearly visible.
The president said in a hoarse voice that he used to look at the cemetery whenever he remembered his revolutionary comrade-in-arms. It is a pity that I could not take better care of them in their lifetime, he said.
As seen above, the revolutionary martyrs were always in the memory of the president.
It happened on September 23, Juche 78 (1989) when the president met and gave a luncheon for the widow and the bereaved children of hero of the Republic An Tong Su, deputy divisional commander in charge of political affairs who performed feats in the battles to liberate Seoul and Suwon during the Fatherland Liberation War.
Looking at those sitting at the table, the president proposed to bring a cup for An Tong Su to be filled. The widow and other bereaved family members were surprised by his proposal because an died already tens of years ago.
The president stood up and made his cup touch An's cup and then proposed all present to do the same and drink in his memory.
Tears of emotion were endlessly rolling down the cheeks of the widow and An's sons and daughters, son-in-law and grandson when they were responding to his proposal.

Ri Hoe Chang's anti-north jargon blasted

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- South Korean political commentator Mun Song Hyon wrote an article titled "shedding searchlight on talk about 'transparency about north,'" according to Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation. He in the article dismissed South Korean presidential candidate Ri Hoe Chang's jargon about "transparency about the north" as a replica of the Bush administration's hostile hard-line policy toward the north and part of the anti-north campaign intended to slander, isolate and stifle the north.
By "transparency about the north" Ri means "transparency about the north's weapons of mass destruction" and "transparency about the north-related undertakings," the article says, and continues:
His talk about "transparency about the north's weapons of mass destruction" is nothing but a brigandish demand for the north's meek dismantling of its non-existent nukes, missiles and conventional weapons.
The threat of weapons of mass destruction to peace on the Korean Peninsula comes not from the north but from the south. There are nearly 40,000 U.S. troops in South Korea and more than 1,000 nuclear weapons, a huge amount of depleted uranium shells, tens of thousands of tons of poisonous substance and chemical bombs are stockpiled there. Moreover, war exercises under the simulated conditions of invasion of the north are being conducted on a daily basis. these facts prove that the weapons of mass destruction of the U.S. forces present in South Korea are not "war deterrent forces" to prevent "invasion from the north" but means to mount a preemptive nuclear attack on the north.
His remark about "transparency about north-related undertakings" is also no more than anti-DPRK vituperation full of nonsense and jargons.
Ri's assertion that "aid to the north has been used for increasing the north's military strength" is a treacherous jargon intended to put a brake on the process for south-north contacts, exchange, reconciliation and cooperation now under way, pursuant to the June 15 joint declaration. This is also anti-reunification behaviour designed to divert the trend of the history toward reunification to that in the cold war era.
In reality there is a drain on resources in South Korea for the sake of the United States, not for the north.
An astronomically huge amount of taxes collected from the South Koreans are going into the pockets of the bosses of the white house and wall street for diverse purposes, for the upkeep of the U.S. forces in South Korea and the purchase of U.S.-made outdated weapons, etc.
His noisy clamor about "transparency about the north" is intended to join the U.S. in its efforts to hamstring the process for inter-Korean reconciliation and unity which have been in good process since the publication of the joint declaration and incite mistrust, antagonism and hostility in a bid to bring these relations back to those in the era of confrontation.
By fanning up confrontation between fellow countrymen he also seeks to enlist support from his U.S. master and gratify his greed for power.
The article calls upon the South Koreans from all walks of life to turn out in a struggle to eliminate the pro-U.S. Ri Hoe Chang group keen on stifling fellow countrymen.
