The troupe is based on the picturesque bank of the River Taedong. Its predecessor North Korean Opera Troupe was founded in Juche 35 (1946).
The troupe was the first art organization to start creating the five revolutionary operas "the sea of blood," "the flower girl", "tell the story, forest," "a true daughter of the party" and "the song of Kumgang-san mountain."
"The sea of blood" was created and staged in 1971.
The germ of idea of the opera is that the sea of blood shed by people should be turned into a sea of blood shed by the enemy.
This is a Juche-based opera of new style quite different from the old operas. Stanzaed songs, Pangchang, dances, uninterrupted stage decor and other means of representation are introduced to the opera.

The "grand festival for reunification solidarity to commemorate the second anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration" took place at Kyunghee University in Seoul with at least 7,000 people attending.

Japan's attempt at Asian reinvasion denounced

Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- The Japanese maritime general staff recently dispatched two more warships of the maritime "self-defense force" (SDF) to the Indian ocean. Through this the Japanese reactionaries sought to justify the SDF's overseas advance under the pretext of "anti-terrorism war" and realize their ambition for overseas expansion at any cost, Minju Joson today says this in a signed commentary. It continues:
The Japanese reactionaries have always watched for a chance to justify the SDF's overseas advance banned by law.
The "September 11 incident" offered a golden opportunity to them as the U.S. "requested" Japan to join in the so-called "anti-terrorism operation."
The Japanese reactionaries, considering it as the best chance to realise their long-cherished dream, accepted the "request" with pleasure, though with some limitations.
However, the term of six months was not sufficient enough for them to gratify their greed for unlimited overseas aggression.
That is why they dispatched more troops to the ocean, even extending the term of warships' operation under the pretext that the "anti-terrorism war" is not over.
It is as clear as noonday that they would come out with a new conception six months later in a bid to justify the SDF's overseas dispatch.
Japan is making its final arrangement to emerge a war state.
Japan's overseas aggression will only lead it to self-destruction.

Jon Pyong Ho, member of the political bureau and secretary of the WPK Central Committee, made a congratulatory report at the meeting.
    He said:
Kim Jong Il's start of work at the WPK Central Committee marked a noteworthy event of epochal significance in the struggle to develop the party and carry forward and accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche.
The revolutionary activities conducted by him for nearly 40 years to lead the party represent a glorious history in which he has built our party into the party of the leader and developed it into an invincible revolutionary party leading the cause of Juche to victory along the road of the army-based revolution.
It was thanks to Kim Jong Il that the revolutionary idea of President Kim Il Sung was declared as the only guiding idea to be held fast to by the WPK forever. As a result, the WPK could emerge a mighty and dignified party which most satisfactorily solved the issue of guiding idea for the first time in history.
Noting that Kim Jong Il has built the party into a great guiding force for the army-based revolution as it formed a harmonious whole with the Korean People's Army, the reporter said that the basic feature of his leadership over the building of the WPK lies in that Kim Jong Il put forward the KPA as the vanguard devotedly defending the party and the leader and made the KPA's spirit of devotedly defending the leader prevail throughout the party.
Our socialism will always remain indestructible as long as there are the great army-based policy shaped by Kim Jong Il and the invincible KPA trained by our party, he stated.
He called upon all the party members and servicemen of the KPA and people to hold Kim Jong Il in high esteem with loyalty and always remain true to his idea and leadership.
