Jong Jong Song, chairman of Sochongryon, in a resolution on May 7 recalled that the U.S. imperialists were going to unleash a nuclear war as their last resort. Saying that the U.S. imperialists' moves to unleash a nuclear war should be shattered by the concerted efforts of all the fellow countrymen without fail, he called upon the students to take the lead in this struggle.
We are determined to stage a death-defying hunger strike against the U.S. and war to smash the U.S. imperialists' moves for a nuclear war, he said, calling for successfully holding the grand festival for national reunification and paving the way for reunification by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation through the anti-U.S., anti-war and anti-nuke struggle.
Earlier to it, Choe Pyong Hun and Im Na Yong, students of Kyonggi University, separately issued resolutions, resolving to stage a hunger strike till May 18 by joining the chairman of the national reunification committee of Sochongryon in his hunger strike.

Inaugural declaration of S. Korean students organization published

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- The tenth-term Federation of University Student Councils in the Southern Area of Kyonggi Province, South Korea, (Kyongginambuchongryon) reportedly issued its inaugural declaration on May 4. The declaration said that on the occasion of the second anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration the 70 million fellow countrymen proclaimed this year as a "year to promote the unity and reunification by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation" and vowed to make this year a year of leap forward in the efforts to achieve national reunification.
It declared the inauguration of the 10th-term Kyongginambuchongryon with the resolution to spearhead the struggle for meeting the demand of the country and the nation.
The U.S. imperialists are now creating the atmosphere of confrontation between the south and the north and resorting to war moves to aggravate the tensions, going against the Korean people's ardent desire to reunify the country by their concerted efforts, it said, stressing: we should not forget that this land is subjected to economic aggression and people are undergoing sufferings owing to the U.S. imperialists.

KCNA assails U.S. draft defense budget

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- The U.S. House of Representatives was reported to have formally approved the year 2003 draft defense budget of 383 billion dollars on May 10. This is the biggest in the last scores of years as it surpasses the defense spending in the period of the east-west Cold War.
This can not be interpreted otherwise than a premeditated and intentional provocation to spark a new global arms race and unleash a new cold war because it fully discloses the U.S invariable ambition to establish its political and military domination over the world by huge force of arms.
The recent reckless moves on the part of the U.S. raise a serious issue. It is because the present U.S. administration is a political swindler in service of big munition monopolies and all of the U.S. foreign and domestic policies have been worked out and carried out to meet their interests.
The Bush administration seeks to bring huge profits to those monopolies through the establishment of the multi-purpose missile defence system, the development of new types of nuclear weapons and the massive production of arms and expects them to create an environment favorable for its stay in power and provide a huge amount of political fund to it in reward.
For this reason the U.S. ruling quarters made no scruple of listing other countries as "rogue states," "sponsors of terrorism" and the "axis of evil" while committing armed sparking intervention in different parts of the world after deliberately sparking regional crises and rendering the international political and military situation tense.
this clearly proves that the u.s. loudmouthed "global peace and stability" are nothing but sheer lies.
It is also prompted by its aggressive nature that it is instigating the South Korean hawkish forces to strain the situation on the Korean Peninsula and forcing South Korea to buy a lot of F-15K fighters and other military hardware by persistently spreading the rumor of "military threat" from the DPRK.
All these facts go to eloquently prove that the global peace and stability are seriously threatened by none other than the U.S.

Song for national reunification

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- The song "We are One" which was recently created is fanning up the desire of all fellow countrymen in the North and South of Korea and overseas for reunification. The song is loudly reverberating through the country as it reflects the desire of the Korean nation of one blood, who had lived in the same territory sharing a common language and history from old times but is now suffering pain from the division of the country for over half a century, to live together.
Compatriots from different countries including Japan and china put the song on the stage to commemorate the Day of the Sun in Pyongyang in April, saying it is their favorite song. Among them was South Korean singer Kim Ryon Ja living in Japan.
When separated families and relatives in the north and the south reunited in Mt. Kumgang in April and may they sang the song together with aspiration after national reunification.
The rhythm of the song is resounding throughout the stadium where the mass gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang" is now on before capacity crowd under home and foreign concern, demonstrating that national reunification is the ardent demand of the fellow countrymen which brooks no further delay.

U.S. termed kingpin of terrorism

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- Kim Chol Myong of the institute for the study of modern political history in South Korea made public an article titled "U.S. is kingpin of terrorism," according to Seoul-based "Voice of National Salvation." He cited irrefutable facts to prove that terrorism is the mode of existence of the U.S. whose very nature is characterized by aggression and plunder.
    The article says:
The U.S. is a lawless land where assassination, terrorism by bombing, random shooting, abduction, taking people as hostages and all other forms of terrorism are rampant.
Since the emergence of the Bush administration the U.S. policy of terrorism has become all the more undisguised.
Politically illiterate Bush is a boss of hooligans and a kingpin of terrorism who knows nothing but making belligerent remarks and committing hideous terrorism. The white house has won ill-fame as a headquarters for terrorism, the defense department and the central intelligence agency as institutions carrying out terrorism and munition monopolies as a base for the production of weapons for terrorism.
The true nature of the U.S. as the kingpin of terrorism has been brought into bolder relief in state-sponsored terrorism and military terrorism committed by it on the Korean Peninsula.
More than one million civilians were mercilessly killed in South Korea by the U.S. in the period from September 1945 to June 25, 1950.
In the period of the June 25 war millions of civilians were killed as victims of military terrorism in the south alone.
Mass killings committed by the U.S. imperialist aggressors in the northern part in the period of temporary occupation were most hideous in the method and scale involved.
They brought ship no. "1091" for bacteriological experiment to the waters near Koje Island and conducted experiments on human bodies of pows of the Korean People's Army more than 3,000 times every day. This was the most monstrous military terrorism in history in its method and scale.
The U.S. frantically perpetrated unprecedented terrorism including military coups and mass killings in a bid to keep the colonial rule over South Korea after the war.
The U.S. foreign policy is characterized by brutal state-sponsored terrorism and military terrorism.
The U.S. has been engrossed in assassinations, military coups and acts of military aggression to overthrow and dominate independent and developing countries. It is the kingpin of international terrorism as it has committed ceaseless armed invasion to dominate the countries that go against the grain with it and the countries of strategic importance which it considers necessary for dominating any region and meeting its interests.
The U.S. is the strongest supporter to terrorism in the world as it provides strong patronage and backing to international terrorists. The U.S. is well advised to admit its existence as a kingpin of terrorism and stop all forms of terrorism at once.
