On the same day the orchestra enjoyed a music and dance performance given by artistes of the DPRR at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre.

Songs satirizing Bush in rapid vogue in S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- Songs satirizing U.S. President Bush are created one after another, causing a great sensation in South Korea. According to the March issue of the South Korean magazine Minjok 21, composer Yun Min Sok who is well known to South Koreans for his popular songs "Rare Cake" and "Dirty U.S." satirizing Bush wrote another anti-U.S. song "Torai Bush."
Describing the reason why the song was named "Torai Bush," the magazine in an article said that "those who talk nonsense are called 'Torai'" in South Korea and its writer thought that the "word would go well with Bush from that point of view."
The song is so popular that primary school pupils asked for its music so that they might sing it together with their colleagues, the article said.

Symposium on great Juche idea held

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- A symposium of social scientists on the great Juche idea took place at the Grand People's Study House yesterday. The speakers explained and ascertained the greatness of the immortal Juche idea, saying that the Juche idea founded by President Kim Il Sung and developed and enriched by leader Kim Jong Il is a revolutionary doctrine that correctly reflects the desire of the popular masses for independence and the requirements of the times and an all-powerful treasured sword that humankind should tackle forever.
The Juche idea, they noted, is a great revolutionary idea that leads the human cause of independence to a certain victory in the present era, fully reflects the demands of the working class and other popular masses' struggle for national, class and human liberation and indicates most correct ways of meeting them.
They referred to the great army-based revolutionary idea, saying that one of the greatest feats of the president was that he put forward the unique army-based revolutionary idea of Juche and, through the embodiment of the idea, saved the fate of the country and nation and paved the way for the building of a powerful socialist nation.
They said the Juche idea serves as an ideological and moral source with which the revolutionary people can live and fight with high national self-respect.
They said the viewpoint that our ideology is best is based on the conviction of the invincible Juche idea and an expression of the fixed will and faith of the Korean people to take the idea and line of leader Kim Jong Il as the eternal guideline and put them into practice without fail no matter how much water flows under the bridge.

Russian artistes see rehearsal of "Arirang" performance

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- Members of the Russian presidential orchestra saw some scenes of mass gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang" in rehearsal at the May Day Stadium on the evening of March 28. All the members of the orchestra were deeply moved to watch the three-dimensional and fascinating mass gymnastic and artistic performance on the ground and shifting scenes on the wonderful background.
    P. B. Obshannikov, chief conductor who is in charge of art of the presidential orchestra of the Russian Federation, said that he had neither seen nor imagined such a huge and wonderful work in any other country as the mass gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang."
    He continued:
Amazing organizing ability, skill of unanimous gymnastic and artistic movements, magnificent stage-settings, artistic effects of electronic displays including laser illuminators and shifts of the background are really beyond human imagination.
In particular, the music full of national feelings is very fine.
It is the unanimous mind of not only myself but all the members of our orchestra that such a great work can be created only in a great country.
Gennady Dmitryak, conductor of the chorus of "the Kremlin, Moscow" Museum, said that he had never seen such a splendid performance anywhere in the world. He went on:
A few days ago, a famous foreign actor won popularity in his performance in Moscow on the occasion of the 850th anniversary of the formation of Moscow city. But it cannot hold a candle to today's performance.
The performance is very impressive as it is splendid, peculiar and conspicuous.
In particular the performance vividly shows the warm love of the Korean people for their homeland and the history of the nation.
The performance was so fascinating that I thought that all the performers might be the experts graduated from art schools or universities from their earliest days.
Such a wonderful performance which holds the first place of art circle in the world will never be seen again in future.

GNP's anti-reunification declaration flailed

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland (CPRF) issued a statement on March 29 assailing the South Korean "Grand National Party" (GNP) for drawing up a "basic line toward the north," an anti-reunification declaration. The statement says:
The GNP group in what it called a "basic line toward the north" groundlessly slandered the political system in the north, talking about "principle of separation." it went the length of opposing the on-going inter-Korean cooperation and exchange, clamouring about "reciprocity" and "transparency", and disclosed even a ridiculous "plan to develop the north."
The GNP's malignant mud-slinging at the DPRK's political system, life and dignity of its people, betrayed an intention to make a showdown with the north to the last, instigated by the U.S. imperialists when it echoed political hooligan Bush's call for a "change in the political system" in the DPRK.
The U.S. occupation of South Korea is the root cause of the harassed peace on the Korean Peninsula. However, the GNP is begging for the U.S. forces' permanent presence in South Korea. Peace on the Korean Peninsula is unthinkable as long as the U.S. troops remain in South Korea. Yet, it is the GNP's intention to adamantly oppose inter-Korean reconciliation and cooperation.
The CPRF bitterly denounces in the name of the Korean nation aspiring after peace and reunification of the country the GNP's "basic line toward the north" as a declaration of a war against the DPRK as it is keen to implement the line by playing the role of a shock brigade in the U.S. war of aggression against the DPRK and an anti-reunification declaration to bar the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and perpetuate the national split.
If the GNP hamstrings the process of improving the inter-Korean relations and puts a stumbling block in the way of the independent reunification as a dirty servant of the U.S., it will never escape a stern punishment of the whole nation.

New posters published

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- New posters were produced by the Workers' Party of Korea Publishing House on the occasion of the 90th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung and the 70th anniversary of the heroic Korean People's Army. The poster "Long live the day of the sun, the greatest jubilee of the nation" represents the noble ideological feelings of the Korean people who sincerely wish the president an eternal life.
The poster carries his august portrait on a red background and depicts monumental edifices symbolic of his history including the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, the supreme temple of Juche, and the Chollima Statue and the Tower of the Juche Idea.
The poster "the day of the sun" has on its upper part letters "commemoration of the 90th birth anniversary of the great leader" and depicted below them is the native home in Mangyongdae on a balmy spring day fringed with the immortal flower Kimilsungia.
Produced on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the KPA were posters "Long live the heroic Korean People's Army, the revolutionary armed forces of our party" and "the 70th anniversary of the heroic Korean People's Army".

U.S. nuclear strategy targeted against DPRK assailed

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- The Bush administration has started working up a plan for actions to implement its dangerous strategy of nuclear attack on the DPRK. This laid bare its intention to use even nuclear weapons to stifle the DPRK. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article.
It is not the first time that the U.S. imperialists' attempt at a nuclear attack on the DPRK was brought to light, the article says, and continues:
Their moves to start a nuclear war in Korea and bring a nuclear holocaust to the Korean nation are already half a century long.
These moves have reached their height since bush's assumption of office. The hawkish bush group has become extremely arrogant while perpetrating high-handed and arbitrary practices in every part of the world. It has made no scruple of embarking upon the road of realizing its dangerous nuclear strategy to invade the independent DPRK in a bid to stifle it.
The U.S. attempt at a nuclear attack on the DPRK is a link of the whole chain of its desperate moves to stifle the DPRK and indicates that they have reached the highest water mark.
The U.S. nuclear strategy is targeted against the Korean Peninsula. It is the U.S. sinister ambition to bring the Korean people to their knees and put the whole of Korea under its control even by use of nuclear weapons.
Due to their reckless moves the Korean peninsula is exposed to a real danger of a nuclear war. They are gravely threatening the existence and progress of the Korean nation while hindering the process of achieving peace of the country and independent national reunification.
The U.S. imperialists are, in fact, most barbarous aggressors keen to bring a nuclear holocaust to the Korean nation in a bid to stifle the DPRK and put the whole of Korea under their domination.

Japan urged to take proper attitude toward of DPRK-JAPAN relations

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- Japan's reactionary media and ultra-rightist forces are casting aspersions on the recent statement released by a spokesman for the central committee of the DPRK Red Cross Society. They are raising a hue and cry over the fictitious issue of "kidnapping" by the DPRRK claiming that "it is still too soon to expect much from the statement" as it was produced by an "appeasement policy" of the DPRK.
Turning aside the settlement of its past, Japan, an assailant, groundlessly takes issue with the DPRK, a victim, over the "kidnapping" issue invented by itself. This is just like a thief crying "stop thief" Rodong Sinmun today says this in a commentator's article.
    It further says:
Japan committed never-to-be-condoned crimes against the Korean people during its past occupation of Korea and the Korean War, but has not yet made a clear-cut apology for them, to say nothing of compensation.
Nevertheless, it is clamouring about such "kidnapping" issue while wearing an air of innocence as regards its past heinous crimes. It is an intolerable insult to the Korean nation.
It is childish and maladroit of Japan to raise the "kidnapping" issue as a "bargaining chip", turning its back on the settlement of the past crimes.
The settlement of the past is the crux of problems to be solved for the improvement of the DPRK-Japan relations. It is impossible for Japan to expect the improved bilateral relations unless it makes an apology and compensation to the Korean people for its crime-woven past.
It is a legitimate right of the DPRK to get apology and compensation. We will employ all means and methods to make Japan pay for its past crimes without fail in our generation.
Japan's attempt to drag out the settlement would only add to its crimes and increase the amount of its compensation.
If Japan continues peddling the non-existent issue of "kidnapping" in this century, covering up its past crimes and evading compensation for them, failing to read the Korean people's sentiment and will, it will give vent to their wrath toward Japan and accelerate its ruin.

Kim Il Sung's feats in military field lauded

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung is an outstanding genius of military affairs who set a brilliant example in the building of revolutionary armed forces and a peerless strategist who worked unprecedented miracles in military affairs in the 20th century, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. He declared a war against the formidable imperialist enemy in his twenties and defeated the Japanese imperialists styling themselves a "leader of Asia" in his thirties, thus achieving the historic cause of national liberation, the article notes. And in his 40s he brought the U.S. imperialists who had boasted of being the "strongest in the world" to their knees, thus honorably defending the dignity and sovereignty of the nation, the article says, and continues:
The president advanced an original military idea that each country and nation should build up their military strength for self-defence and solve all military affairs by their own efforts with responsibility to defend themselves and steadily enriched it through revolutionary struggles.
While leading the two wars against U.S. and Japanese imperialism he set out many original strategies and tactics to suit the specific conditions of Korea.
His generalship was Juche-oriented leadership art based on deep love and trust in soldiers and a revolutionary one that enabled them to fully discharge their position and role as masters in army building and military activities.
Kim Il Sung was a genius of military affairs and an invincible general possessed of extraordinary military wisdom, steel-strong pluck and gut.
The ever-victorious history of the Juche revolution started by him is given steady continuity by leader Kim Jong Il.

GNP's "basic line toward north" under fire

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- Papers here today carry signed commentaries assailing the South Korean "Grand National Party" for recently working up a "basic line toward the north", a keynote of its policy toward the north. Rodong Sinmun dismisses the assertion that "exchange and cooperation between authorities should be promoted on the basis of reciprocity" as an anti-national logic aimed to foster division and confrontation from a to z. The paper goes on:
It is preposterous to call for settling the national problem on the basis of equivalent exchange. To try to apply the logic of "reciprocity" which has no measure of value common to the nation to the inter-Korean relations is to achieve the GNP's foolish aim to make a showdown with the north. And its talk about "humanitarian aid" under the "conditions where transparency is guaranteed" is meant to lead the DPRK to "reform" and "opening" with a petty amount of money and a few goods as a bait and destabilize it.
It claimed in the basic line that "no exchange and cooperation should be made unless peace is guaranteed." This is little short of declaring that the GNP would not involve itself in such red cross and humanitarian activities as the exchange of home-visiting groups of separated families and relatives as it reveals its criminal attempt to check cooperation and exchange between the north and south of Korea and hamstring the process of improving the inter-Korean relations.
A "plan to develop the north" contained in the basic line is, in essence, a replica and version of the preceding rulers' plan to "restore the north".
It is an intolerable challenge and provocation to the north that the GNP group is now working hard to draw up a "plan to develop the north," a plan to "unify the country by invading the north," after formulating "unification under the liberal democracy" in its party's line.
The GNP's "basic line toward the north" is, in the long run, a declaration to invade the north intended to implement the anti-DPRK aggressive policy of the U.S. imperialists who are threatening to mount a nuclear attack on the DPRK after singling it out as a member of the "axis of evil." the line is also aimed to hinder the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and foster national division and confrontation.
Minju Joson dismisses the "basic line toward the north" as a declaration to foster confrontation and division aimed to perpetuate the national split.
