Bush's projected junket to S. Korea protested

Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- Kim Hyong Ju, chairman of the general student council of Chonnam National University who is concurrently temporary chairman of the tenth-term South Korean Federation of University Student Councils, reportedly published an article addressed to one million students on Feb. 9 protesting against U.S. President Bush's projected trip to South Korea. Such junket of bush keen to bring a scourge of war to Korea again, clamouring about "axis of evil", will evidently cause misfortune and sufferings to the Korean nation, the article said, and went on:
The U.S. threat of war to the North of Korea is just a threat to the Korean peninsula as a whole including the south and it is prompted by its brigandish aim to deliberately torpedo the march of the nation advancing toward unity and independent reunification after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration. This betrays the U.S. dark intention to ignite a war at any cost in a bid to dominate Korea forever.
Today we students, heirs to the tradition of the South Korean student movement conducted defying imprisonment and death, should respond to the call of the nation with struggle and prevent with wrath the boss of the U.S. imperialists from setting foot on this land.
Renewing the determination to check Bush's junket and demonstrate the strength of the federation and the stamina of the nation, the article called upon one million students to turn out in the struggle to bar such trip by their concerted efforts.

KCNA on foolish attempt of Washington Post

Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- The Washington Post is foolishly attempting to calm down the world criticism of Bush's reckless remarks about an "axis of evil". In its recent editorial the newspaper asserted that Bush's remarks about an "axis of evil" are based on "truth" and that the world should not raise an objection to it.
Such assertion cannot but be a target of the world public criticism as it fully revealed the true colors of the Washington Post as a reptile paper serving the political power.
Objectiveness and impartiality are the fundamental ethics of the press.
The Washington Post is said to have dealt with outstanding world issues. Then, is this paper not qualified to judge the reactionary nature of the argument about an "axis of evil"?
Such dishonest diatribe made by the newspaper against sovereign states reflected the political interests of the United States. This is an unpardonable crime as it gave fuel to the Bush administration's war moves to escalate the "anti-terrorism operations" worldwide.
Many countries are now becoming increasingly critical of Bush's remarks about an "axis of evil" intended to attain the U.S. aim to contain the DPRK by "strength" and dominate the world with the Korean peninsula as a springboard.
The Washington Post should stop such reckless diatribe swimming against the trend of the times and ponder over its attitude toward other sovereign states.

At the end of the visit, they made entries in the visitor's book.
Prior to it, the military attaches' corps here visited the national fine art exhibition to celebrate February 16.

Indonesian ambassador hosts reception

Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- Indonesian ambassador to the DPRK Buchari Effendi hosted a reception in his embassy last evening on the occasion of the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il. Present there on invitation were chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK Choe Thae Bok, foreign minister Paek Nam Sun, minister of foreign trade Ri Kwang Gun, acting chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Mun Jae Chol, vice-minister of the People's Armed Forces Jong Chang Ryol and other officials concerned.
The ambassador in a speech made at the reception noted that many successes made by the Korean people in different fields are unthinkable without the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il.
Kim Jong Il provided an inter-Korean summit, a significant and remarkable event in Korea's history, he said, adding:
Indonesia extends full support to the Korean people in their struggle to achieve the peaceful reunification of Korea.
He expressed belief that the Korean people would achieve great success in their efforts to build a powerful nation under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.
Choe Thae Bok in a speech said that the DPRK would make positive efforts to boost the friendly and cooperative relations with Indonesia true to the last instructions of President Kim Il Sung and the intention of Kim Jong Il.
He praised the Indonesian government and people for their energetic efforts made to achieve the unity of the nation and the stability of the country, overcome economic difficulties and materialize the ASEAN ideal under the leadership of President Megawati Soekarnoputri.

U.S. termed as empire of evil

Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary titled "The U.S., Empire of Evil" analyses Bush's remarks about an "axis of evil" made in his "state of the union address." The commentary discloses the injustice, falsehood, aggressive and dangerous nature of the bush's assertion about an "axis of evil" which he is going to set out as the core of the U.S. aggressive foreign policy despite domestic and foreign protest and denunciation.
The commentary cites concrete facts to prove that Bush's assertion is nothing but vituperation as it lacks any theoretical ground or evidence.
    It goes on:
Bush describes the U.S. as "good" and brands those countries which have ideologies and views on value different from the U.S.'s as "evil" in a bid to put them under its control by force of arms.
This is brigandish logic as it is a profound confusing of justice and injustice, progress and reaction.
Lurking behind Bush's assertion about an "axis of evil" are a variety of sinister purposes and calculations to serve his political propaganda purpose and enforce and justify his policy of arms race.
Bush's singling out the DPRK as a member of the "axis of evil" discloses the U.S. intention to regard the DPRK as the "principal enemy" of the 21st century and the main target of its "anti-terrorism strategy" and "crusade operation." This is little short of declaring a war against the DPRK.
The projected visit to South Korea of Bush, who made such remarks against the DPRK, compels it to be guard against the trip.
The U.S. imperialists, who seem to be upbeat over the defeat of the Taliban forces in Afghanistan, have gone off into war hysteria.
But they should know that the DPRK is quite different from those countries against which the U.S. has carried out armed intervention and war exercises.
The Korean people do not want peace to be accompanied by slavery but will never allow anyone to encroach upon their country's sovereignty. It is the stand of the people's army and people of Korea that the earth can never exist without the DPRK.
The DPRK has strong pluck and war methods and means enough to achieve victory in any form of war against any formidable enemy.
Bush's assertion about the "axis of evil" is bound to go bankrupt in face of the DPRK's might and war methods and the U.S. imperialist aggressors will certainly meet a miserable end in Korea.

Bush's "state of union address" blasted abroad

Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- The central committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks released a statement on Feb. 4 assailing bush's "state of the union address." Denouncing Bush for listing the DPRK as a member of the "axis of evil," the statement said: The United States seems to forget the fact that it was defeated in the 1950-1953 Korean War by the young DPRK. The U.S. is seriously miscalculating that it would go unpunished even if it perpetrated any military provocation against the DPRK, a war of aggression against it.
Lashing out at the U.S. reckless adventurous policy toward sovereign state, the statement called upon the world people to lift their voice of protest against imperialism and for the right of independent option, the way for each nation and state to make historical development.

Immediate retraction of Bush's remarks urged

Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- Esko Koskinen, head of the visiting delegation of the Finland-Korea Association, in an interview with KCNA here on Feb. 11 said that the world's peaceloving people are now enraged at U.S. President Bush's groundless slander made on the DPRK in his "state of the union address." he continued: Bush's outbursts are intended to wreck global peace and put a brake on the process to achieve the reunification of Korea.
I hold that his anti-DPRK remarks should be withdrawn at once and the U.S. should renounce its hostile policy towards the DPRK.
The U.S. should immediately pull down the concrete wall bisecting the Korean peninsula into two parts and withdraw its forces from South Korea.
The Finnish people and other peaceloving people of the world will lift their louder voice protesting and denouncing such outbursts and fully support the Korean people's struggle for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country in the future, too.

Monument to three charters for national reunification

Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- The monument to three charters for national reunification is standing at the entrance to Thongil Street, the southern gateway to Pyongyang. The monument is flawless in national architectural style and formative and artistic value.
It is 30 meters high. It depicts two women in traditional costumes upholding the symbol of the three charters, on which letters "three charters", the Korean map and magnolias are engraved.
The height of the monument means that the charters are an immortal banner for the reunification of Korea.
The two women in the same posture visually show that the north and the south of the country are one and the same land whose people have the same desire.
On either side of the monument there are four group sculptures representing the three principles of national reunification, the proposal for founding the democratic Federal Republic of Koryo, the ten-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation, and reunified Korea.
The monument weighs 7,000 tons in total. It reflects the desire of the 70 million countrymen for reunification.
Its width is 61.5 meters, symbolic of June 15, Juche 89 (2000), a landmark day for national reunification.
On both sides of the monument there are four display rooms for more than 740 stones donated by Koreans in the north and the south and overseas. The stone gate to them is three tons in weight and a medal of national reunification is engraved on its central part.
On a spacious compound of the edifice there is a monument to the proposition for national reunification written by President Kim Il Sung.
The edifice covers a total area of over 100,000 square meters.

Anecdotes about Kim Jong Il

Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- The world progressives today are highly praising and revering leader Kim Jong Il as the sun of the 21st century. Only part of the anecdotes about him is introduced here on the occasion of the February holiday, his birthday. It was June Juche 66 (1977).
Kim Jong Il, feeling tired from his several days of trip for on-site guidance, took an about 10-minute sleep in his car. An official asked him to have more rest as he sat up. He told the official that he takes a short sleep on the back seat when he gets drowsy doing a mountain of work.
He said that the short and uncomfortable sleep is a sweet one which sleeps off one's fatigue in the main, adding that he likes the short and uncomfortable sleep best.
More often than not he had rice balls as his meals on the way of his field-guidance.
At a meal time he made sure that a rice ball stuffed with dried radish, pickled cucumber and pacific sand launce was distributed to everyone who accompanied him.
Asking officials how it tasted, he used to say that the rice ball was best for a long journey as it is easy and takes little time to prepare the food and cause no trouble to officials and villagers in local areas. He has always taken rice balls with pleasure, saying that they are ideal meals for revolutionaries during their trips.
There is another anecdote about his simplicity.
It was one night in mid-December last year.
An official was surprised to see an unusual scene. Kim Jong Il was seated on an office chair at the entrance of his lodging to have his hair cut because he was working day and night, while providing ceaseless field guidance. The official asked him why he was having a haircut on an inconvenient seat late at night. He told the official that he could not spare time for the haircut as he was expected to go to meet workers early in next morning, adding that he was fond of field life.

Rally held in secret camp on Mt. Paektu to vow loyalty to Kim Jong Il

Samjiyon, February 14 (KCNA) Gorgeous fireworks were displayed above the secret camp on Mt. Paektu, the sacred place of the sun, today on the occasion of auspicious February 16, the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il. Today Sobaeksu Valley turned into a veritable sea of officer and men of the three services of the Korean People's Army and people from all walks of life.
Present at the rally to vow loyalty to Kim Jong Il were senior party and state officials including Jo Myong Rok, Hong Song Nam, Kim Yong Chun, Kim Il Chol and Kye Ung Thae.
Led by Jo Myong Rok, first vice-chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and director of the general staff of the KPA, the participants took an oath to be singleheartedly loyal to Kim Jong Il.
He said that they would uphold with loyalty the idea and leadership of Kim Jong Il to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche true to the earnest last instructions of President Kim Il Sung and entirely entrust their destiny to Kim Jong Il and devotedly defend him with unshakable faith and will.
He underscored the need to strengthen the people's army to be a strong revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu, defend the red flag of Juche with arms, and uphold his army-based revolutionary leadership with the might of unity between the army and the people and single-hearted unity.
Accusing the U.S. imperialist warmongers of pushing the situation to the brink of war in their undisguised bid to invade the DPRK, Jo declared that it is the invariable stand of the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK to return fire for fire and respond to an all-out war with an all-out war.
Splendid fireworks fizzled over Jong Il Peak on Mt. Paektu at dawn.
Cha Sung Su, chairman of the Radio and TV Broadcasting Committee of the DPRK, and poets in their impromptu poems noted that the fireworks over Jong Il Peak are the gunfire, fireworks of glory representing the unanimous best wishes of all people for the good health of Kim Jong Il, the brilliant commander of Mt. Paektu.
