Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- A joint council of civic and public organisations involving more than 200 organisations called a press conference at the press centre in Seoul on February 8 as regards a string of hostile remarks made by U.S. government officials against the DPRK before adopting a declaration on peace on the Korean peninsula, Seoul-based MBC said. The organisation in the declaration demanded the U.S. government come out to negotiations with the DPRK for the stability on the peninsula, charging that Washington is persistently pursuing the hard-line policy toward the DPRK, putting its interests above anything else.

U.S. apology and reparation demanded

Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- The all people's committee for a probe into the truth behind massacres of civilians before and after the Korean War and their reinstatement held an emergency press conference on Feb. 4 . It groups 33 civic and public organizations including the Kanghwa association of bereaved families of the dead, the association of bereaved families of those killed by U.S. bombing at Iksan Railway Station and the "national council of labor movement organizations".
At the press conference speakers demanded the united states probe the truth about the mass killings of civilians, make an apology and reparation for the crimes.
The second statement of the committee was published at the press conference.
The statement said that a documentary film shown by BBC has proved that GIs' massacres of civilians committed in Rogun-ri and many other parts of South Korea were not accidental but premeditated crimes perpetrated by orders which deny the investigation reports of the U.S. Defense Department and the South Korea-U.S. joint fact-finding group.
It urged the U.S. to keenly feel the responsibility for the massacres of many civilians committed before and after the Korean War and make an apology and reparation for them and the "government" to probe from an independent stand the truth behind all the mass killings of civilians before and after the war and negotiate the matter with the U.S. with dignity.
At the press conference the committee issued its action program including a struggle for the enaction of a special law and the issues of bringing the U.S. war crimes to the U.N. commission on human rights and arousing international solidarity.

The DPRK is our neighbor and we cannot remain a passive onlooker to the destiny of the friendly people.
We bitterly denounce the U.S. policy of aggression against the DPRK.
We have studied with keen attention the statement of the spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry and express full support to it.
We are convinced that the Korean people will deal a counterblow at any attempt to disturb their peaceful life and defend the independence of their country.

Liars have short wings

Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- A "fiction of missile threat from North Korea" based on an "explanation" of the Lockheed Martin and Boeing, the largest U.S. military complexes, is not based on an objective fact, but was dreamed up to serve the interests of the huge military complexes. Minju Joson today in a by-lined commentary says this after the Washington Post disclosed the truth behind the U.S. loudmouthed "missile threat from North Korea."
    The news analyst says:
The "missile threat from North Korea" is a product of the U.S. wrong hostile policy toward the DPRK to isolate it internationally and stifle it by force of arms.
If the U.S. truly wants to settle an international missile issue in the light of the security in the mainland, it should have called Japan's missiles into question.
The U.S., however, failed to call into question Japan's launch of rocket not only last year but this time.
This proves that the U.S. applies double standards as regards the missile issue.
The U.S. is spreading the fiction in a bid to put into practice its policy of stifling the DPRK.
Recently Bush branded the DPRK as a "country posing a threat of weapons of mass destruction." Not content with this, he went the length of listing it as a member of the "axis of evil". All this shows what an extent the U.S. anti-DPRK hostility has reached.
No country entertains what the U.S. says as it is. The U.S. has lost the popularity.
The U.S. should immediately stop telling lies to do harm to others. This behaviour is not suitable for the U.S.

Japan hit for preparing biological and chemical war

Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries are openly stepping up the preparations for a biological and chemical war under the pretext of the DPRK's "threat of biological weapons" as major part of their moves for overseas aggression. Commenting on it, Rodong Sinmun today says in a by-lined commentary:
The Japan defense agency in a recent "basic view on coping with biological weapons" said that the DPRK is seeking the "capacity of biological war" and having the structure needed for the manufacture of bacillus anthracies and other biological substance.
This was prompted by the ulterior intention of the Japanese reactionaries to launch overseas aggression with biological and chemical weapons, pursuant to the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK.
We have nothing to do with "biological weapons".
It is Japan that is chiefly responsible for the threat of biological weapons.
It was also Japan that brought great damage and holocaust to the Korean people and other Asian people by using biological and chemical weapons.
Japan is putting spurs to the moves to turn itself into a military power and moves for overseas aggression on the plea of the "logistic support" to the U.S. forces after the "September 11 incident".
It not only has the capacity to develop and produce biological and chemical weapons but seeks a biological and chemical war in actuality. It is peddling the DPRK's "threat of biological weapons" in a bid to hide this fact.
It is futile for the Japanese reactionaries to float false rumors about the DPRK and resort to tricks to conceal their true intention.
For Japan to try to launch overseas aggression is as foolish an act as jumping into the fire with fagot on its back.

Chinese ambassador gives reception

Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- Chinese ambassador to the DPRK Wu Donghe gave a reception at the embassy yesterday in the run-up to the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il. The ambassador in his speech said Kim Jong Il wisely led the party, the army and the people to victoriously conclude the "arduous march" and the forced march and creditably protect the sovereignty of the country, the dignity of the nation and the cause of socialism started by President Kim Il Sung.
The Korean people's successes in various fields were attributable to his guidance, he said, and went on: This shows that the Korean people led by him are sure to emerge victorious.
He sincerely hoped that the fraternal Korean people would continue to register greater success in the efforts to build a powerful nation and see a rosy future of a prosperous and happy country in the new century.
Premier Hong Song Nam of the DPRK cabinet in his reply said Kim Jong Il made sure that the Korean revolution steadily advanced to glorify the revolutionary history of President Kim Il Sung, built up the Workers' Party of Korea as the eternal party of Kim Il Sung and paved the avenue for the building of a powerful nation with his army-based revolutionary guidance.
Today the Chinese people under the guidance of the Communist Party of China with Jiang Zemin at the core work hard to open a new epoch-making phase in the nation's prosperity and the party building with the approach of the 16th party congress, he said.
He sincerely hoped that the Chinese people would gain greater success in the drive for socialist modernisation with Chinese characteristics.
We will, in the future, too, work hard together with the Chinese comrades to boost the DPRK-China friendship in the spirit agreed upon at the summit meetings and talks, he stressed.
