Yang Hyong Sop meets new Polish ambassador

    Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- Yang Hyong Sop, vice president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and conversed with Wojciech Kaluza, new Polish ambassador to the DPRK, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall yesterday when the latter paid a courtesy call on him.


Korea's reunification supported

    Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- Boris Trajkovski, President of Macedonia, met the DPRK ambassador to his country, who paid a farewell visit to him on Nov. 14. The president said that he is pleased to know that the Korean people are enjoying their greatest success despite difficulties. He hoped that the Korean people's desire to achieve the country's reunification free from outside interference would come true as early as possible.
    He expressed thanks for the DPRK support to the Republic of Macedonia and noted that he would further develop the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.


Protocols signed between DPRK and Cuba

    Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- A protocol of the 21st meeting of the DPRK-Cuba inter-governmental economic and scientific and technological consultative committee was signed here yesterday. Present at the signing ceremony on the DPRK side were Ri Kwang Gun, minister of foreign trade, and officials concerned and on the opposite side were a Cuban government economic delegation headed by minister of government Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz and Cuban ambassador to the DPRK Esteban Lobaina Romero.
    The protocol was signed by Ri Kwang Gun and Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz.
    A protocol of the exchange of commodity between the two governments for 2002 was also signed on the same day.


Mission of who opens in DPRK

    Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- The mission of the World Health Organization to the DPRK was opened in Pyongyang. An opening ceremony was held on the spot yesterday.
    Present there were Kim Su Hak, minister of public health, and officials concerned, director general of the who Gro Harlem Brundtland and her party on a visit to the DPRK, representative Eigil Sorensen and members of the who mission in the DPRK, diplomatic envoys of various countries and representatives of international organizations.
    Speeches were made at the ceremony.


Suppression of pro-reunification patriots in S. Korea denounced

    Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- Ugandan and Madagascan organizations released statements on Nov. 9, demanding the South Korean authorities discontinue the suppression of unionists including the chairman of the South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and pro-reunification patriots. The Ugandan union of railway workers in a statement strongly called on the South Korean authorities to immediately abolish the "security law," stop the crackdown upon pro-reunification patriots and join the whole nation in the vigorous struggle for the country's reunification.
    The Madagascan workers' rally in a statement urged the South Korean authorities not to pay lip-service to reunification but show their will to solve the issue of reunification by the concerted efforts of the Korean people in practice.


Day of national immunization in DPRK

    Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- October 20 and November 20 are the days of national immunization in the DPRK. On these days technical workshops, hygienic propaganda, confirmation of those children to be vaccinated against infantile paralysis and inoculation are brisk at the public health organizations in the capital and cities and counties of various provinces.
    On the first inoculation day, hundreds of thousands of children were vaccinated against infantile paralysis throughout the country.
    On the second inoculation day, spinal paralysis preventive vaccination will be given to all the children from the age of two to five by a combination of vitamin vaccination.
    Vaccination groups, each made up of three or four persons per 200 to 250 children, have been organized and vaccination centers set up across the country.
    On these days hygienic preventive institutions at all levels are looking after preventive inoculation and the population's immunization in a responsible manner.
    Meanwhile, all the vaccination doctors of the preventive treatment institutions are conducting preventive inoculation to inhabitants under their charge according to the vaccination calendar provided by those in the capital.
    The state is taking possible measures to supply necessary preventive medicines to them.


8th KJU congress opens

    Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- The 8th congress of the Korean Journalists Union (KJU) was opened in Pyongyang yesterday. Participating in the congress were Jong Ha Chol, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea,
    Senior officials of the KJU central committee and press organs, officials concerned, representatives selected from different primary organizations of the KJU and observers.
    A letter of leader Kim Jong Il to the participants "journalists and other pressmen are ideological standard-bearers firmly defending our idea, system and cause" was conveyed there.
    In the letter he referred to the WPK's Juche-oriented idea of giving importance to the writing brush and its brilliant traditions, and indicated the orientation and ways for the party's media in the era of the army-based politics and tasks that should be carried out by journalists and pressmen to creditably discharge their honorable mission and duty before the era and history.
    The congress is to deal with such matters as the summing up of the work of the KJU central committee, the revision of the KJU rules and the election of the leadership of the KJU.

    Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- Choe Thae Bok, chairman of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and conversed with Milorad Kosovac, ambassador of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to the DPRK, who paid a farewell call on him at the Mansudae Assembly Hall today. Present on the occasion was an official concerned.

    Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Dae, chairman of the central committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party, today met and conversed with Wojciech Kaluza, new Polish ambassador to the DPRK who paid a courtesy call on him.
