Kim Jong Il visits co-op farms
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) - Leader Kim Jong Il on July 7 inspected the Ryujong Cooperative Farm in Thaethan county and the Jaechon Cooperative Farm in Jaeryong county, South Hwanghae Province, whose land has been realigned.
Accompanying him were secretary Kim Kuk Thae, director of the propaganda and agitation department Jong Ha Chol and first vice department directors of the WPK central committee and generals of the Korean People's Army Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.
Leader Kim Jong Il first went to the Ryujong Cooperative Farm. There he acquainted himself in detail with the land levelling and rezoning and farming conditions.
Noting that the plain once dotted with small plots, has been realigned into a vast field of standardized size, he highly estimated the land builders' feats. Then, he met merited driver Kim Pom Ryong of the Jangphung county land construction station and his sons, who have fully displayed patriotism in the land realignment project, to take warm care of their working and living conditions and gave a pep-talk to them.
He also expressed great satisfaction at the fact that the realigned land is greatly paying off. and he urged all the farmers to do farm work methodologically and meticulously, deeply conscious that they are responsible for the nation's granary, and take strict measures for preventing damage by rainstorm and insects.
Then, he visited the Jaechon Cooperative Farm.
There he took hands of builders one by one, who performed heroic feats in the worthwhile grand nature-transforming project, and highly appreciated their patriotic deeds.
After learning about details of the land realignment and farming conditions, he called upon all the provinces, cities and counties to put spurs to the work to give face-lifting to the whole land of the country as soon as possible as befitting the land of socialist state.
Greatly satisfied to see the village turned into a socialist paradise, he gave thanks to officials and members of the farm.
He also acquainted himself in detail with performance and use of tractor trailers and other farm machines running on fields. And he advanced tasks which will serve as a guideline in accelerating the comprehensive mechanization of agriculture.
Farm machines of various types suited to the countryside of Korea should be produced in larger quantity, he said, adding that officials and workers in charge of farm machine production should pay deep attention to the invention and manufacture of quality farm machines popular among farmers.
Saying that it is important to raise the rate of use now that a large number of various farm machines have already been supplied to the countryside, he indicated ways to do so.
Kim Jong Il visits Kumsusan Memorial Palace to pay respects to President Kim Il Sung
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) - Leader Kim Jong Il visited the Kumsusan Memorial Palace at 00:00 on July 8, the greatest memorial day of the nation, together with the members of the NDC and KPA commanding officers to pay homage to President Kim Il Sung.
He entered the hall where the president's statue stands.
He was accompanied by KPA vice-marshal Kim Yong Chun, member of the NDC and chief of the KPA general staff= KPA vice-marshal Kim Il Chol, vice-chairman of the NDC and minister of the People's Armed Forces= KPA marshal Ri Ul Sol, member of the NDC= KPA vice-marshal Ri Yong Mu, vice-chairman of the NDC= and staff members of the supreme command of the KPA.
He bowed to the president in humble reverence together with those present there.
Kim Jong Il praised in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- A campaign to "Get a Profound Knowledge of General Kim Jong Il" is now under way among people from all walks of life in South Korea on the occasion of the first anniversary of the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, according to Seoul-based radio voice of national salvation.
Kim Jong Il's works and books introducing his revolutionary activities and virtues are avidly read by political and academic circles, students, workers as well as housewives and discs on which rodong sinmun articles on his traits as a great man are recorded are in wide use.
Hong Chang Su and his mother visit Korean Hall of Chongryon
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- DPRK Labour Hero and People's Sportsman Hong Chang Su, a pro-boxing champion, visited the Korean Hall in Tokyo on July 2 together with his mother.
They were greeted by chairman So Man Sul and chief vice-chairman Ho Jong Man of the central standing committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and others.
So Man Sul said that the news of his reception of the title of Labour Hero, the highest honor of the DPRK citizens, delighted Chongryon officials and compatriots and his pride is also pride of Chongryon and compatriots.
Support to north-south joint declaration called for
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- An Asian regional solidarity meeting for supporting the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and demanding its implementation was held in Kathumandu on June 30 under the co-sponsorship of the Asian regional committee to support Korea's reunification and the Nepalese committee for supporting Korea's reunification.
Reggie Ranathunga, minister of food and market development of Sri Lanka who is honorary chairman of the Asian regional committee to support Korea's reunification and chairman of the Sri Lanka-People's Korea Friendship Association, made a report at the meeting.
He said that the north-south summit meeting and the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration was a historic event in which the north and south jointly declared the nation's will for independent reunification for the first time in the history of Korea's division spanning more than half a century and opened a new phase of reconciliation and cooperation on the Korean peninsula.
The new U.S. administration's fuss about "threat from North Korea" is nothing but a political plot to get new justification suitable to its interests for escalating tension in the region, he noted.
He called for sharply watching the bellicose U.S. imperialists' hostile policy toward the DPRK and conducting positive activities to thwart and frustrate it.

The meeting adopted an appeal to the governments, political parties and organizations of all countries and peace-loving people and a letter of protest to the U.S. President.
The appeal called for putting international pressure upon the Bush administration to respect the spirit of the U.S.-DPRK agreed framework and joint communique, unconditionally stop all aggressive military exercises in and around the Korean peninsula and immediately withdraw the U.S. troops and destruction weapons from South Korea.
It also called for respecting the Korean people's will for independent and peaceful reunification and supporting and encouraging the successful implementation of the joint declaration.
The letter of protest said that if the u.s. ignites a war again, failing to draw a historic lesson from its bitter defeat in the Korean War in the 1950s, it will not avoid curse and denunciation by the world progressive people. it strongly demanded the immediate withdrawal of the U.S. troops from South Korea and the successful implementation of the U.S.-DPRK agreed framework.
Wonder takes place
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- Three mysterious birds appeared on the occasion of the 7th death anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.
It happened at sunset on July 2 in a flat on the first floor of the apartment house in Undok-dong in Hanggu district, nampho, to which the family of Jong Kil Ryong has recently moved.
Three unknown beautiful birds perched on the window-sill of the room next to the kitchen at about 8:40 a.m.
The birds remained there for one hour and forty minutes, blinking their eyes towards a portrait of the president.
It was witnessed by over 100 residents in the same apartment.
They were unanimous in saying that they saw the birds pay respectful homage to the president, not forgetting July.
Korean wrestlers prove successful
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- Korean wrestler Ri Jong Myong won a gold medal in the freestyle 42 kg event at the second junior Asian Greco-Roman style and freestyle wrestling championships held in Teheran.
In the final he outpointed a Kazakh wrestler 5-4, who defeated Japanese, Iranian and Taipei players.
Kim Kwang Sik carried off a silver medal in the Greco-Roman 42 kg, and Won Chol Min, Yang Chun Song and Kim Chung Il bagged bronze medals in the freestyle 46 kg, freestyle 50 kg and freestyle 54 kg events respectively.
Papers call for accomplishing President Kim Il Sung's cause
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- Papers here today editorially call for accomplishing the cause of President Kim Il Sung on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of his demise.
